I'm writing a Java application that runs on Linux (using Sun's JDK). It keeps creating /tmp/hsperfdata_username directories, which I would like to prevent. Is there any way to stop java from creating these files?
My config file is really just a big python dict, but I have many config files to run different experiments and I want to 'import' a different one based on a command line option. Instinctively I want to do import ConfigFileName where ConfigFileName is a string with the config file's python package name in it... but that doesn't work.
Any ideas?

Hi there,
I'd like to move publicly accessible files .css, images into my ASP.NET MVC Views folder. Since the Views has a web.config denies all requests, what exactly do I need to do to achieve this, so .aspx, .ascx are still protected while .css, images are accessible. Could someone show in detail please.
Thank you,
Ray.
I'm looking for a way to collect the dependencies from Flex ActionScript and MXML files. I was hoping that mxmlc could spit them out (like gcc's -M option), but its option list doesn't seem to have anything relevant. I could write a parser, but would prefer not to reinvent the wheel if it has already been done, particularly given the two very different languages involved. Is there a program available to do this for me?
Hi,
I want to use plist files to hold large data such as image data and other texts. Is this feasible or is it that plist are for holding small string such as needed for settings etc. Will there be any memory issues.

I find this line in many source code files in the comment at the top (header) of the file. Why? Is it aimed for the version control software? -Thanks.
I need "loading" animations to import into Flex for a search engine so the person knows something is being searched. I'm not sure how to do this.... Is it through swc files?

In my Perl code, I need to copy a directory from one location to another on the same host excluding some files/patterns (e.g. *.log, ./myDir/abc.cl).
What would be the optimum way of doing this in Perl across all the platforms?
On Windows, xcopy is one such solution. On unix platforms, is there a way to do this in Perl?
While there are lots of questions about coding style, beautifying, and enforcement, I haven't found any example C++ files that are used as a quick reference for style. The file should be one or two pages long and exemplify a given coding standard/style.
For example, the Google C++ Style Guide is a great reference, but I think a one to two page piece of code written in their style pinned to a wall would be more useful in day-to-day use.
Do any of these already exist?
I've downloaded Spring 3.0.2 with dependencies and found that it contains 405 jar files. I usually keep third party libraries in a "lib" subdirectory, but there are so many Spring jars that it seems sensible to keep them separately so that they don't swamp the other libraries and to simplify version upgrades.
I suspect that I want to keep the full set of libraries in Subversion, but only deploy the subset that is actually used.
Do Spring users have a standard way to deal with this problem?
I'm looking to combine find . -mtime 0

The title pretty much says it all. What would be the easiest way to replace commas in all files it can find in the current directory with dots? (preferably, without installing some extra tools, but I'll settle for something small .... cygwin's not small :)
Is there a way to create a working copy with all child folders but without files in it?
My repository is very big, I only need the empty directory structure to be created.
