  • setInterval works only the first time

    - by Neil
Hi, I am trying to use setTimer to animate a slide show using straightforward jQuery. I provide the user with a button (in the form of a "DIV" with a button background image) that he clicks to start the show and which then turns into a pause button. The slides are supposed to change every 3 seconds. Here is the relevant code: playLink = $('<div id="lbPlayLink" />').click(function(){ $(playLink).hide(); $(pauseLink).show(); slideInterval = setInterval(function(){next()}, 3000) })[0]; pauseLink = $('<div id="lbPauseLink" />').click(function(){ $(playLink).show(); $(pauseLink).hide(); clearInterval(slideInterval); }).hide()[0]; The next() function call does the work of replacing the slide with the next one. I have checked out this function and it works perfectly if I call it directly (synchronously), however, when it gets called asonchronously by the "setInterval", it works fine the first time (3 seconds after I click on the button), but is never called again, even though it should be called 3 seconds later. I know it's never called as I put an "alert" call at the beginning and end of the function. If I replace the "next()" call in the "setInterval" by "alert('test')" then I can see the setInterval is doing what it is supposed to. I can't for the life of me see why "alert()" is OK but "next()" isn't, unless it has something to do with "scope" of functions, but in that case why does it work the first time? I've tried debugging the code with firebug, but it can't really help with timeout functions like this. Neither Firefox nor IE8 show any error messages. I've looked through the various posts here and elsewhere on setInterval, but can't see anything relevant that I haven't tried already. I've been experimenting now for about 3 hours and it's doing my head in. Can anyone suggest what I can try next? Thanks in advance Neil

  • How to arrange business logic in a Kohana 3 project

    - by Pekka
I'm looking for advice, tutorials and links at how to set up a mid-sized web application with Kohana 3. I have implemented MVC patterns in the past but never worked against a "formalized" MVC framework so I'm still getting my head around the terminology - toying around with basic examples, building views and templates, and so on. I'm progressing fairly well but I want to set up a real-world web project (one of my own that I've been planning for quite some time now) as a learning object. I learn best by example, but example-based documentation is a bit sparse for Kohana 3 right now - they say so themselves on the site. While I'm not worried about learning the framework as I go along, I want to make sure the code base is healthily structured from the start - i.e. controllers are split nicely, named well and according to standards, and most importantly the business logic is separated into appropriately sized models. My application could, in its core, be described as a business directory with a range of search and listing functions, and a login area for each entry owner. The actual administrative database backend is already taken care of. Supposing I have all the API worked out and in place already - list all businesses, edit business, list businesses by street name, create offer logged in as business, and so on, and I'm just looking for how to fit the functionality into a MVC pattern and into a Kohana application structure that can be easily extended. Do you know real-life examples of "database-heavy" applications like directories, online communities... with a log-in area built on Kohana 3, preferably Open Source so I could take a peek how they do it? Are there conventions or best practices on how to structure an extendable login area for end users in a Kohana project that is not only able to handle a business directory page, but further products on separate pages as well? Do you know any good resources on building complex applications with Kohana? Have you built something similar and could give me recommendations on a project structure?

  • Extending EF4 SQL Generation

    - by Basiclife
Hi, We're using EF4 in a fairly large system and occasionally run into problems due to EF4 being unable to convert certain expressions into SQL. At present, we either need to do some fancy footwork (DB/Code) or just accept the performance hit and allow the query to be executed in-memory. Needless to say neither of these is ideal and the hacks we've sometimes had to use reduce readability / maintainability. What we would ideally like is a way to extend the SQL generation capabilities of the EF4 SQL provider. Obviously there are some things like .Net method calls which will always have to be client-side but some functionality like date comparisons (eg Group by weeks in Linq to Entities ) should be do-able. I've Googled but perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology as all I get is information about the new features of EF4 SQL Generation. For such a flexible and extensible framework, I'd be surprised if this isn't possible. In my head, I'm imagining inheriting from the [SQL 2008] provider and extending it to handle additional expressions / similar in the expression tree it's given to convert to SQL. Any help/pointers appreciated. We're using VS2010 Ultimate, .Net 4 (non-client profile) and EF4. The app is in ASP.Net and is running in a 64-Bit environment in case it makes a difference.

  • Changing CSS Rules using JavaScript or jQuery

    - by Praveen Kumar
Initial Research I am aware of using .css() to get and set the CSS rules of a particular element. I have seen a website with this CSS: body, table td, select { font-family: Arial Unicode MS, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: small; } I never liked Arial Unicode as a font. Well, that was my personal feel. So, I would use Chrome's Style Inspector to edit the Arial Unicode MS to Segoe UI or something which I like. Is there anyway, other than using the following to achieve the same? Case I $("body, table td, select").css("font-family", "Segoe UI"); Recursive, performance intensive. Doesn't work when things are loaded on the fly. Case II $('<style>body, table td, select {font-famnily: "Segoe UI";}</style>') .appendTo("head"); Any other better method than this? Creates a lot of <style> tags!

  • Serializing MDI Winforms for persistency

    - by Serge
Hello, basically my project is an MDI Winform application where a user can customize the interface by adding various controls and changing the layout. I would like to be able to save the state of the application for each user. I have done quite a bit of searching and found these: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2076259/how-to-auto-save-and-auto-load-all-properties-in-winforms-c http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1669522/c-save-winform-or-controls-to-file Basically from what I understand, the best approach is to serialize the data to XML, however winform controls are not serializable, so I would have use surrogate classes: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/dotnet/Surrogate_Serialization.aspx Now, do I need to write a surrogate class for each of my controls? I would need to write some sort of a recursive algorithm to save all my controls, what is the best approach to do accomplish that? How would I then restore all the windows, should I use the memento design pattern for that? If I want to implement multiple users later, should I use Nhibernate to store all the object data in a database? I am still trying to wrap my head around the problem and if anyone has any experience or advice I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

  • C question: error: expected ')' before '*' token

    - by lhw
===EDIT I apologize for not putting the pcb struct into the code snippet. There is a struct called pcb defined in above the two structs I originally posted. Namely, typedef struct{ UINT32 proc; struct pcb *link; }pcb; Hi, I asked a question regarding structs in C a few minutes ago and got an answer blazing fast. But now I'm facing another problem, namely the error in the title of this question. I'm trying to implement a simple priority queue in C using arrays of queues. However, when I try to declare a function on pcb_pQ structure, I get the above error. I have the structs clearly defined in the heard file. In the header file: typedef struct{ pcb *head; pcb *tail; SINT32 size; } pcb_Q; typedef struct pcb_pQ { pcb_Q queues[5]; SINT32 size; } pcb_pQ; Function prototype in header file: /*priority queue operations*/ VOID pcb_pq_enqueue(pcb_pQ*, pcb*); Function impelmentation in .c file: VOID pcb_pq_enqueue(pcb_pQ* pcb_pQ, pcb* pcb) { pcb_Q* pcb_Q_p; int priority; priority = pcb->proc_priority; pcb_Q_p = &pcb_pQ->queues[priority]; pcb_enqueue(pcb_Q_p, pcb); } When I try to compile the above code, I get an "error: expected ')' before '*' token". This error is pointing to the function signature in the .c file, namely VOID pcb_pq_enqueue(pcb_pQ* pcb_pQ, pcb* pcb) { But I am not sure why I am getting this error, could someone give me a hand? Thanks a lot.

  • How to remove accidental branch in TortoiseHg?

    - by msorens
(I am a relative newcomer to TortoiseHg, so bear with me :-) I use TortoiseHg on two machines to talk to my remote source repository. I made changes on one machine, committed them, and attempted to push them to the remote repository BUT I forgot to first do a pull to get the latest code first. The push gave me a few lines of output, suggesting I may have forgotten to pull first (true!) and mentioned something like "abort: push creates new remote branches...". So I did a pull, which added several nodes to the head of my graph in the repository explorer. The problem is that the push I tried to do is now showing as a branch in the repository explorer. Looking from the server side (codeplex), it shows no sign of my attempted push, indicating this accidental branch is still local on my machine. How could I remove this accidental branch? I tried selecting that node in the graph then doing "revert" but it did not seem to do anything. I am wondering if it would be simplest to just discard my directory tree on my local machine and do a completely new, clean pull from the server...?

  • SQL GUID Vs Integer

    - by Dal
Hi I have recently started a new job and noticed that all the SQL tables use the GUID data type for the primary key. In my previous job we used integers (Auto-Increment) for the primary key and it was a lot more easier to work with in my opinion. For example, say you had two related tables; Product and ProductType - I could easily cross check the 'ProductTypeID' column of both tables for a particular row to quickly map the data in my head because its easy to store the number (2,4,45 etc) as opposed to (E75B92A3-3299-4407-A913-C5CA196B3CAB). The extra frustration comes from me wanting to understand how the tables are related, sadly there is no Database diagram :( A lot of people say that GUID's are better because you can define the unique identifer in your C# code for example using NewID() without requiring SQL SERVER to do it - this also allows you to know provisionally what the ID will be.... but I've seen that it is possible to still retrieve the 'next auto-incremented integer' too. A DBA contractor reported that our queries could be up to 30% faster if we used the Integer type instead of GUIDS... Why does the GUID data type exist, what advantages does it really provide?... Even if its a choice by some professional there must be some good reasons as to why its implemented?

  • SSAS Cube reprocessing fails - then succeeds if I try again

    - by EdgarVerona
So I'm basically brand new to the concept of BI, and I've inherited an existing ETL process that is a two step process: 1) Loads the data into a database that is only used by the cube processing 2) Starts off the SSAS cube processing against said database It seems pretty well isolated, but occasionally (once a week, sometimes twice) it will fail with the following exception: "Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The attribute key cannot be found" Now the interesting thing is that: 1) The dimension having the issue is not usually the same one (i.e. there's no single dimension that consistently has this failure) 2) The source table, when I inspect it, does actually contain the attribute key that it says could not be found And, most interestingly... 3) If I then immediately reprocess the dimensions and cubes manually through SSMS, they reprocess successfully and without incident. In both the aforementioned job and when I reprocess them through SSMS, I am using "ProcessFull", so it should be reprocessing them completely. Has anyone run into such an issue? I'm scratching my head about it... because if it was a genuine data integrity issue, reprocessing the cube again wouldn't fix it. What on earth could be happening? I've been tasked with finding out why this happens, but I can neither reproduce it consistently nor can I point to a data integrity problem as the root cause. Thanks for any input you can provide!

  • Number Algorithm

    - by James
I've been struggling to wrap my head around this for some reason. I have 15 bits that represent a number. The bits must match a pattern. The pattern is defined in the way the bits start out: they are in the most flush-right representation of that pattern. So say the pattern is 1 4 1. The bits will be: 000000010111101 So the general rule is, take each number in the pattern, create that many bits (1, 4 or 1 in this case) and then have at least one space separating them. So if it's 1 2 6 1 (it will be random): 001011011111101 Starting with the flush-right version, I want to generate every single possible number that meets that pattern. The # of bits will be stored in a variable. So for a simple case, assume it's 5 bits and the initial bit pattern is: 00101. I want to generate: 00101 01001 01010 10001 10010 10100 I'm trying to do this in Objective-C, but anything resembling C would be fine. I just can't seem to come up with a good recursive algorithm for this. It makes sense in the above example, but when I start getting into 12431 and having to keep track of everything it breaks down.

  • How to Bind Data and manipulate it in a GridView with MVP

    - by DotNetDan
    I am new to the whole MVP thing and slowly getting my head around it all. The a problem I am having is how to stay consistent with the MVP methodology when populating GridViews (and ddls, but we will tackle that later). Is it okay to have it connected straight to an ObjectDataSourceID? To me this seems wrong because it bypasses all the separation of concerns MVP was made to do. So, with that said, how do I do it? How do I handle sorting (do I send over handler events to the presentation layer, if so how does that look in code)? Right now I have a GridView that has no sorting. Code below. ListCustomers.aspx.cs: public partial class ListCustomers : System.Web.UI.Page, IlistCustomer { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { //On every page load, create a new presenter object with //constructor recieving the // page's IlistCustomer view ListUserPresenter ListUser_P = new ListUserPresenter(this); //Call the presenter's PopulateList to bind data to gridview ListUser_P.PopulateList(); } GridView IlistCustomer.UserGridView { get { return gvUsers; } set { gvUsers = value; } } } Interface ( IlistCustomer.cs): is this bad sending in an entire Gridview control? public interface IlistCustomer { GridView UserGridView { set; get; } } The Presenter (ListUserPresenter.cs): public class ListUserPresenter { private IlistCustomer view_listCustomer; private GridView gvListCustomers; private DataTable objDT; public ListUserPresenter( IlistCustomer view) { //Handle an error if an Ilistcustomer was not sent in) if (view == null) throw new ArgumentNullException("ListCustomer View cannot be blank"); //Set local IlistCustomer interface view this.view_listCustomer = view; } public void PopulateList() { //Fill local Gridview with local IlistCustomer gvListCustomers = view_listCustomer.UserGridView; // Instantiate a new CustomerBusiness object to contact database CustomerBusiness CustomerBiz = new CustomerBusiness(); //Call CustomerBusiness's GetListCustomers to fill DataTable object objDT = CustomerBiz.GetListCustomers(); //Bind DataTable to gridview; gvListCustomers.DataSource = objDT; gvListCustomers.DataBind(); } }

  • Interpolating environment variables into a string in Ruby using String#scan

    - by robc
I'm trying to interpolate environment variables into a string in Ruby and not having much luck. One of my requirements is to do something (log an error, prompt for input, whatever) if a placeholder is found in the initial string that has no matching environment variable. It looks like the block form of String#scan is what I need. Below is an irb session of my failed attempt. irb(main):014:0> raw_string = "need to replace %%FOO%% and %%BAR%% in here" => "need to replace %%FOO%% and %%BAR%% in here" irb(main):015:0> cooked_string << raw_string => "need to replace %%FOO%% and %%BAR%% in here" irb(main):016:0> raw_string.scan(/%%(.*?)%%/) do |var| irb(main):017:1* cooked_string.sub!("%%#{var}%%", ENV[var]) irb(main):018:1> done irb(main):019:1> end TypeError: cannot convert Array into String from (irb):17:in `[]' from (irb):17 from (irb):16:in `scan' from (irb):16 from :0 If I use ENV["FOO"] to manually interpolate one of those, it works fine. I'm banging my head against the desk. What am I doing wrong? Ruby is 1.8.1 on RHEL or 1.8.7 on Cygwin.

  • Why does the OnDeserialization not fire for XML Deserialization?

    - by Jonathan
I have a problem which I have been bashing my head against for the better part of three hours. I am almost certain that I've missed something blindingly obvious... I have a simple XML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <WeightStore xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Records> <Record actual="150" date="2010-05-01T00:00:00" /> <Record actual="155" date="2010-05-02T00:00:00" /> </Records> </WeightStore> I have a simple class structure: [Serializable] public class Record { [XmlAttribute("actual")] public double weight { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("date")] public DateTime date { get; set; } [XmlIgnore] public double trend { get; set; } } [Serializable] [XmlRoot("WeightStore")] public class SimpleWeightStore { [XmlArrayAttribute("Records")] private List<Record> records = new List<Record>(); public List<Record> Records { get { return records; } } [OnDeserialized()] public void OnDeserialized_Method(StreamingContext context) { // This code never gets called Console.WriteLine("OnDeserialized"); } } I am using these in both calling code and in the class files: using System.Xml.Serialization; using System.Runtime.Serialization; I have some calling code: SimpleWeightStore weight_store_reload = new SimpleWeightStore(); TextReader reader = new StringReader(xml); XmlSerializer deserializer = new XmlSerializer(weight_store.GetType()); weight_store_reload = (SimpleWeightStore)deserializer.Deserialize(reader); The problem is that I am expecting OnDeserialized_Method to get called, and it isn't. I suspect it might have something to do with the fact that it's XML deserialization rather than Runtime deserialization, and perhaps I am using the wrong attribute name, but I can't find out what it might be. Any ideas, folks?

  • Google Maps API v3 - Different markers/labels on different zoom levels

    - by krikara
I was wondering if it is possible that Google has a feature to view different markers on different zoom levels. For example, on zoom level 1, I want one marker over China with the label saying "5". And as the user zooms in, lets say on zoom level 4, I want the previous marker and label to disappear. And I want to have 5 new markers/labels, each on a different city in China all saying "1". Thus China will say a number and all the cities in China will say numbers adding up to China's number. The key concept I am trying to figure out here is how to hide markers and labels based on zoom levels. A constraint for me is that I am living in China currently where google is censored, so a lot of online documents are censored for me, including many of google's documentations. Here is my code thus far <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" /> <title>TM China</title> <style type="text/css"> html, body, #map_canvas { margin: 0; And when I copy the source code directly to my computer and replace all the icons with markers, the markers still don't appear. I can't seem to figure how to make markers appear using the marker Manager. http://google-maps-utility-library-v3.googlecode.com/svn/tags/markermanager/1.0/examples/weather_map.html

  • Windows Azure: asp.net <appsetting> for ChatHttpHandler not found

    - by veda
I have a problem in setting the chartHttpHandler in web.config for windows azure Initially I added a chartHttpHandler on my web.config file <remove name="ChartImageHandler"/> <add name="ChartImageHandler" preCondition="integratedMode" verb="GET,HEAD" path="ChartImg.axd" type="System.Web.UI.DataVisualization.Charting.ChartHttpHandler, System.Web.DataVisualization, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35"/> under system.webServer section Then I got an error stating Invalid temp directory in chart handler configuration [c:\TempImageFiles\]. Then I found that I should change in From <add key="ChartImageHandler" value="storage=file;timeout=20;dir=c:\TempImageFiles\;" /> To <add key="ChartImageHandler" value="storage=file;timeout=20;" /> I am not able to find this section in my web.config file. So I tried to add it under section but it gave me error that it is an invalid child Likewise, I tried adding it under section, it too gave the same error... So, I added sepeartely, Then I am not able to see anything.. The webpage is just blank... What should I have to do.. Can anyone tell me "how to solve it"

  • Overriding equals method without breaking symmetry in a class that has a primary key

    - by Kosta
Hi, the answer to this question is probably "not possible", but let me ask regardless :) Assuming we have a very simple JAVA class that has a primary key, for example: class Person { String ssid; String name; String address; ... } Now, I want to store people in a collection, meaning I will have to override the equals method. Not a completely trivial matter, but on a bare basis I will have something along the lines of: @Override public boolean equals (Object other) { if(other==this) return true; if(!other.getClass().equals(this.getClass()) return false; Person otherPerson = (Person)other; if(this.ssid.equals(otherPerson.getSsid()) return true; } Excuse any obvious blunders, just typing this out of my head. Now, let's say later on in the application I have a ssid I obtained through user input. If I want to compare my ssid to a Person, I would have to call something like: String mySsid = getFromSomewhere(); Person myPerson = getFromSomewhere(); if(myPerson.equals(new Person(mySsid)) doSomething(); This means I have to create a convenience constructor to create a Person based on ssid (if I don't already have one), and it's also quite verbose. It would be much nicer to simply call myPerson.equals(mySsid) but if I added a string comparison to my Person equals class, that would break the symmetry property, since the String hasn't got a clue on how to compare itself to a Person. So finally, the big question, is there any way to enable this sort of "shorthand" comparisons using the overriden equals method, and without breaking the symmetry rule? Thanks for any thoughts on this!

  • Deserialize complex JSON (VB.NET)

    - by Ssstefan
I'm trying to deserialize json returned by some directions API similar to Google Maps API. My JSON is as follows (I'm using VB.NET 2008): jsontext = { "version":0.3, "status":0, "route_summary": { "total_distance":300, "total_time":14, "start_point":"43", "end_point":"42" }, "route_geometry":[[51.025421,18.647631],[51.026131,18.6471],[51.027802,18.645639]], "route_instructions": [["Head northwest on 43",88,0,4,"88 m","NW",334.8],["Continue on 42",212,1,10,"0.2 km","NW",331.1,"C",356.3]] } So far I came up with the following code: Dim js As New System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer Dim lstTextAreas As Output_CloudMade() = js.Deserialize(Of Output_CloudMade())(jsontext) I'm not sure how to define complex class, i.e. Output_CloudMade. I'm trying something like: Public Class RouteSummary Private mTotalDist As Long Private mTotalTime As Long Private mStartPoint As String Private mEndPoint As String Public Property TotalDist() As Long Get Return mTotalDist End Get Set(ByVal value As Long) mTotalDist = value End Set End Property Public Property TotalTime() As Long Get Return mTotalTime End Get Set(ByVal value As Long) mTotalTime = value End Set End Property Public Property StartPoint() As String Get Return mStartPoint End Get Set(ByVal value As String) mStartPoint = value End Set End Property Public Property EndPoint() As String Get Return mEndPoint End Get Set(ByVal value As String) mEndPoint = value End Set End Property End Class Public Class Output_CloudMade Private mVersion As Double Private mStatus As Long Private mRSummary As RouteSummary 'Private mRGeometry As RouteGeometry 'Private mRInstructions As RouteInstructions Public Property Version() As Double Get Return mVersion End Get Set(ByVal value As Double) mVersion = value End Set End Property Public Property Status() As Long Get Return mStatus End Get Set(ByVal value As Long) mStatus = value End Set End Property Public Property Summary() As RouteSummary Get Return mRSummary End Get Set(ByVal value As RouteSummary) mRSummary = value End Set End Property 'Public Property Geometry() As String ' Get ' End Get ' Set(ByVal value As String) ' End Set 'End Property 'Public Property Instructions() As String ' Get ' End Get ' Set(ByVal value As String) ' End Set 'End Property End Class but it does not work. The problem is with complex properties, like route_summary. It is filled with "nothing". Other properties, like "status" or "version" are filled properly. Any ideas, how to define class for the above JSON? Can you share some working code for deserializing JSON in VB.NET? Thanks,

  • Audio playback, creating nested loop for fade in/out.

    - by Dave Slevin
Hi Folks, First time poster here. A quick question about setting up a loop here. I want to set up a for loop for the first 1/3 of the main loop that will increase a value from .00001 or similar to 1. So I can use it to multiply a sample variable so as to create a fade-in in this simple audio file playback routine. So far it's turning out to be a bit of a head scratcher, any help greatfully recieved. for(i=0; i < end && !feof(fpin); i+=blockframes) { samples = fread(audioblock, sizeof(short), blocksamples, fpin); frames = samples; for(j=0; j < frames; j++) { for (f = 0; f< frames/3 ;f++) { fade = fade--; } output[j] = audioblock[j]/fade; } fwrite(output, sizeof(short), frames, fpoutput); } Apologies, So far I've read and re-write the file successfully. My problem is I'm trying to figure out a way to loop the variable 'fade' so it either increases or decreases to 1, so as I can modify the output variable. I wanted to do this in say 3 stages: 1. From 0 to frames/3 to increace a multiplication factor from .0001 to 1 2. from frames 1/3 to frames 2/3 to do nothing (multiply by 1) and 3. For the factor to decrease again below 1 so as for the output variable to decrease back to the original point. How can I create a loop that will increase and decrease these values over the outside loop?

  • Perform Grouping of Resultsets in Code, not on Database Level

    - by NinjaBomb
Stackoverflowers, I have a resultset from a SQL query in the form of: Category Column2 Column3 A 2 3.50 A 3 2 B 3 2 B 1 5 ... I need to group the resultset based on the Category column and sum the values for Column2 and Column3. I have to do it in code because I cannot perform the grouping in the SQL query that gets the data due to the complexity of the query (long story). This grouped data will then be displayed in a table. I have it working for specific set of values in the Category column, but I would like a solution that would handle any possible values that appear in the Category column. I know there has to be a straightforward, efficient way to do it but I cannot wrap my head around it right now. How would you accomplish it? EDIT I have attempted to group the result in SQL using the exact same grouping query suggested by Thomas Levesque and both times our entire RDBMS crashed trying to process the query. I was under the impression that Linq was not available until .NET 3.5. This is a .NET 2.0 web application so I did not think it was an option. Am I wrong in thinking that? EDIT Starting a bounty because I believe this would be a good technique to have in the toolbox to use no matter where the different resultsets are coming from. I believe knowing the most concise way to group any 2 somewhat similar sets of data in code (without .NET LINQ) would be beneficial to more people than just me.

  • how to get the real bounds with google maps when fully zoomed out

    - by brad
I have a map that shows location points based on the gbounds of the map. For example, any time the map is moved/zoomed, i find the bounds and query for locations that fall within those bounds. Unfortunately I'm unable to display all my locations when fully zoomed out. Reason being, gmaps reports the min/max long as whatever is at the edge of the map, but if you zoom out enough, you can get a longitudinal range that excludes visible locations. For instance, if you zoom your map so that you see NorthAmerica twice, on the far left and far right. The min/max long are around: -36.5625 to 170.15625. But this almost completely excludes NorthAmerica which lies in the -180 to -60 range. Obviously this is bothersome as you can actually see the continent NorthAmerica (twice), but when I query my for locations in the range from google maps, NorthAmerica isn't returned. My code for finding the min/max long is: bounds = gmap.getBounds(); min_lat = bounds.getSouthWest().lat() max_lat = bounds.getNorthEast().lat() Has anyone encountered this and can anyone suggest a workaround? Off the top of my head I can only thing of a hack: to check the zoom level and hardcode the min/max lats to -180/180 if necessary, which is definitely unacceptable.

  • Translate XSD element names to English

    - by Coov
I have an XML Schema Definition file .XSD who's elements are in Spanish. I have an XML data file that is also in Spanish that matches the schema definition. I created a dataset from the xsd using xsd.exe and I'm loading the XML into the dataset. I want to translate the element names to English. I can think of two options off the top of my head. Either scrape the XSD & XML files and translate the elements prior to generating the dataset with esd.exe, or iterate the dataset after I have loaded it with the xml, and translate my objects. I do have a written document that provides the English names for every element name in Spanish. The problem is there are hundreds of elements and I was trying to avoid coding that manually. Getting precise translations is not that important, it just needs to be readable by an English speaking person. Here is an example of what an element may look like "Apellidos": <xs:element name="Apellidos" type="xs:string"/> that I will translate to "SirName": <xs:element name="SirName" type="xs:string"/> I'm looking for ideas and or opinions on a quick way to do this. It's a one time deal so I'm not working about it scaling or being functional for things other than this single xml file. I'll be taking this dataset and writing out a flat file for English speaking users to read.

  • Javascript to PHP, mysql uploading, one button pressing solution

    - by user2897858
    my program is generating buttons from a mysql database.When one of the button is pressed, it would uplod the current time and the gps coordinate. Sadly, it only works if the same button is pressed twice, but its not an option, because the button has to dissappear. I would like to have some help in coding how to make that possible the user only need to press the button once for the correct upload.Thanks in advance Here is the full code of my my file: <?php session_start(); ?> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>title</title> </head> <?php $maidatum=date("Ymj"); echo "<script>getLocation();</script>"; //Az adatbázishoz való csatlakozás $conn = mysql_connect("localhost","root","asd"); if(!($conn))die("Nincs conn a kiszolgálóval!".mysql_error()); $adatbazisneve="schtrans"; mysql_select_db($adatbazisneve,$conn); mysql_query("set names 'utf8'"); mysql_query("set character set 'utf8'"); //Combobox $sql = "SELECT Jaratszam,Vezeto FROM user"; $rs = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); echo "<form action=\"\" method=\"post\">"; echo<<<nev <select name='Lista'> nev; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($rs)){ echo "<option value='".$row["Jaratszam"]."'>".$row["Vezeto"]."</option>"; }mysql_free_result($rs); echo "</select>"; ///Combox vége echo<<<lekerd <form action="" method="post"> <input type="submit" name="bekuldes" value="Lekérdez" /> </form> </form> lekerd; echo<<<gps <form action="" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name= "longitude" id="longitude"> <input type= "hidden" name ="latitude" id="latitude"> </form> gps; if(isset($_POST["bekuldes"])) { $jaratszam = $_POST['Lista']; $_SESSION['jaratsz']=$jaratszam; $lekerdez_parancs="SELECT * FROM cim_$maidatum WHERE jarat=$jaratszam;"; $lekerdez=mysql_query($lekerdez_parancs, $conn); echo "<table border=\"1\">"; echo "<td>Utánvétel</td> <td>Megrendelés összege</td> <td>ISZ</td> <td>Város</td> <td>Utca</td> <td>Megjegyzés</td> <td>Csomagok</td> <td>Raklaphely</td> <td>Súly</td><td>Térfogat</td><td>Latitude</td><td>Longitude</td><td>Ido</td>"; $g=1; //cimszámláló while ($adatok=mysql_fetch_array($lekerdez)) { echo "<tr>"; $_SESSION['adatok0'][$g]=$adatok[0]; echo "<td>$adatok[2]</td> <td>$adatok[3]</td> <td>$adatok[4]</td> <td>$adatok[5]</td> <td>$adatok[6]</td> <td>$adatok[7]</td> <td>$adatok[8]</td> <td>$adatok[9]</td> <td>$adatok[10]</td><td>$adatok[11]</td><td>$adatok[13]</td><td>$adatok[14]</td>"; if ($adatok[12]==null) { echo<<<gomb <form action="" method="post"> <td> <input type="hidden" name= "longitude" id="longitude$g"> <input type= "hidden" name ="latitude" id="latitude$g"> <input type="submit" name="ido" value="$g" /></td> </form> gomb; } else {echo "<td>$adatok[12]</td>";} $g++; } echo "</table>"; } if(isset($_POST["ido"])) { $hanyadik=$_POST["ido"]; $longitudee="longitude$hanyadik"; $latitudee="latitude$hanyadik"; ?> <script> var x=document.getElementById("log"); function getLocation() { if (navigator.geolocation) { navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(showPosition); } else{x.innerHTML="GPS szolgáltatás nem müködik ezen a böngészon, kérlek értesítsd a rendszergazdát!";} } function showPosition(position) { var latitude = position.coords.latitude; var longitude = position.coords.longitude; document.getElementById("<?php echo $longitudee;?>").value = longitude; document.getElementById("<?php echo $latitudee;?>").value = latitude; } </script> <?php echo "<script>getLocation();</script>"; $latitude=$_POST["latitude"]; $longitude=$_POST["longitude"]; print_r($_POST); $currentime=date("H:i:s"); $acim=$_SESSION['adatok0'][$hanyadik]; $idofeltolt_parancs="UPDATE cim_$maidatum SET ido='$currentime',lat='$latitude',longi='$longitude' WHERE cimid='$acim';"; $feltoltes=mysql_query($idofeltolt_parancs, $conn) or die(mysql_error()); //tryy $jaratszam=$_SESSION['jaratsz']; $lekerdez_parancs="SELECT * FROM cim_$maidatum WHERE jarat=$jaratszam;"; $lekerdez=mysql_query($lekerdez_parancs, $conn); mysql_query("set names 'utf8'"); mysql_query("set character set 'utf8'"); echo "<table border=\"1\">"; echo "<td>Utánvétel</td> <td>Megrendelés összege</td> <td>ISZ</td> <td>Város</td> <td>Utca</td> <td>Megjegyzés</td> <td>Csomagok</td> <td>Raklaphely</td> <td>Súly</td><td>Térfogat</td><td>Latitude</td><td>Longitude</td><td>Ido</td>"; $g=1; //cimszámláló while ($adatok=mysql_fetch_array($lekerdez)) { echo "<tr>"; $_SESSION['adatok0'][$g]=$adatok[0]; echo "<td>$adatok[2]</td> <td>$adatok[3]</td> <td>$adatok[4]</td> <td>$adatok[5]</td> <td>$adatok[6]</td> <td>$adatok[7]</td> <td>$adatok[8]</td> <td>$adatok[9]</td> <td>$adatok[10]</td><td>$adatok[11]</td><td>$adatok[13]</td><td>$adatok[14]</td>"; if ($adatok[12]==null) { echo<<<gomb <form action="" method="post"> <td> <input type="hidden" name= "longitude" id="longitude$g"> <input type= "hidden" name ="latitude" id="latitude$g"> <input type="submit" name="ido" value="$g" /></td> </form> gomb; } else {echo "<td>$adatok[12]</td>";} $g++; } echo "</table>"; } mysql_close($conn); ?> </html>
