When using arabic language, data is stored in database with ? (question mark) sign instead of real arabic characters in SQL server. Suggest me solution if anybody have idea.
I have been playing around with creation of pdf documents for a project that I'm working on. I would like to store the generated pdf document in a SQL database and then later be able to retrieve this pdf as well.
What are some suggestions for doing this? Can the document be stored in the database without physically creating the document on the server?
Hello,
I have a table structure that looks like this:
ID String
-----------
1 A
1 Test
1 String
2 Dear
2 Person
I need the final output to look like this:
ID FullString
--------------------
1 A, Test, String
2 Dear, Person
I am really lost on how to approach this... I looked on a couple examples online but they seemed to be VERY complex... this seems like it should be a real easy problem to solve in sql.
Thank you for all assistance!
When tabbing through controls in an ActiveX control hosted in IE, once I get to the last control the tab key no longer does anything. I would like it to move the focus outside the ActiveX control to the next html control.
This works fine when the ActiveX control is hosted in a WinForms app, does anybody know how to make this work in the browser?
It may also be relevant that the ActiveX control is a simple wrapper around a WPF control.
A tough SQL question (I'm using postgres by the way).
I need the first row inserted every day for the past X days. one of my columns is a timestamp, which i hold the time inserted, and another column is the row id.
If it's not possible to get the first row inserted every day, i at least need a unique one; a single row for every day for the past x days.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi Experts,
I am using asp.net and C#.
I have deployed my application on the server and now I come to know that my server don't have a ip address, is their any way I could send sms without smtp details.
I can use bot asp.net3.5 with C# or SQL Server 2005 to send mail.
Thanks in advance
When using a SQL join, is it possible to keep only rows that have a single row for the left table?
For example:
select * from A, B where A.id = B.a_id;
a1 b1
a2 b1
a2 b2
In this case, I want to remove all except the first row, where a single row from A matched exactly 1 row from B.
I'm using MySQL.
Since @A is never declared, sql server should throw an error, but it doesn’t. Why is that?
DECLARE @i int = 1;
IF @i > 10
BEGIN
DECLARE @A int = 100;
END
PRINT @A; // doesn't return any result
thanx
So I am trying to change the number of fields in my dataset in SSRS and the refresh button is not picking up the added field from the SQL server. The query is definitely returning the correct data, as I have double checked in the server engine itself. Also, I have tried manually adding the field using the SSRS menu, but as soon as I execute it disappears.
Any suggestions or similar experiences?
I need help converting this SQL statement, into EF4:
Select Posts.PostID, Post, Comment
from Posts left join
Comments on posts.PostID = Comments.PostID
Where CommentID not in
(
Select PostID
from Votes
where VoteTypeID = 4 --4 = flagged comment type
)
In my database, the Votes table stores either the PostID of reported posts, or CommentID of reported comments in the column Votes.PostID
Thanks in advance!
I need to create a trigger in MS SQL.

Can anyone recommend a tutorial on how to write a Java Servlet which connects to MS SQL server and manages data?
I'm trying to write something which pulls products out of one database and inserts them into a stored procedure located on another database.
Thanks in advance.
I have been trying to fix this solution for the last day. I'm trying to add NETWORK SERVICE as a user to the SQL Server Express installation on the server. Everytime I get the error 'User does not have permission to perform this action.'. Any ideas?
Dear Folks,
I am trying to sort string column (containing numbers).
// SELECT `name` FROM `mytable` ORDER BY `name` ASC
+----------+
+-- name --+
+----------+
+-- a 1 ---+
+-- a 12 --+
+-- a 2 ---+
+-- a 3 ---+
You see natural sorting algorithm of Mysql is placing a 12 after a 1 (which is ok for most apps), But I have unique needs, so I want result should be sorted like this.
+----------+
+-- name --+
+----------+
+-- a 1 ---+
+-- a 2 ---+
+-- a 3 ---+
+-- a 12 --+
Is it possible with just SQL, or I have to manipulate result-set at application level?

Does any one know of an example on how to store an image in a SQL Server CE database?
What data type should the column be? (I am guessing binary.)
I use Linq-To-Datasets. Is it possible using that to put the image into the database and pull it out again later?
Thanks for any advice.
I'm using LINQ2SQL and I want to compare two tables and select all rows that are missing from one tables (based upon one of the column values).
In standard SQL I would write this as:
SELECT
FirstName,
LastName,
RefId,
Email
FROM
Users_ActiveDirectory AS ADU
WHERE
NOT EXISTS
(
SELECT
U.RefId
FROM
Users AS U
WHERE
U.RefID = ADU.RefId
)
However I'm not sure how to achieve the same result using LINQ2SQL?
Which of the following three options would you choose for a column name in a SQL Server table, and why?
YearToDateWages
YTDWages
YtdWages

Hi,
I have an app and I have come to a point where I need to build a
sql statement up dynamically.
Is there a way to execute it and return a type that has not been defined
via the designer with Linq2Sql??
Malcolm
imagine 2 tables (rather stupid example, but for the sake of simplicity, here you go)
words
word_id
letters
letter
word_id
how can i select all words while selecting all letters that belong to a word and concatenating them to said word? it is important that the letters are returned in the order they appear in the table, as the letter may be mixed into other words, but the order is correct.
|word_id| |word_id|letter|
+-------+ +-------+------+
| 1| | 1| H|
| 2| | 2| B|
| 2| Y|
| 1| I|
| 2| E|
should return
|word_id|word|
+-------+----+
| 1| HI|
| 2| BYE|
any way to accomplish this in pure SQL?
Convention has it that table names should be the singular of the entity that they store attributes of.
I dislike any T-SQL that requires square brackets around names, but I have renamed a Users table to the singular, forever sentencing those using the table to sometimes have to use brackets.
My gut feel is that it is more correct to stay with the singular, but my gut feel is also that brackets indicate undesirables like column names with spaces in them etc.
Should I stay, or should I go?
How can I translate the following SQL query into a named_scope?
select users.*, sum(total_quantity * total_price) as points_spent
from orders
join users on users.id = orders.user_id
where pay_type = 'points'
group by user_id
order by points_spent desc
Thanks!
