Using ASP.Net, I have a server control for which i would like to add the inline css style "background-image:none". However, when i call:
writer.AddStyleAttribute("background-image", "none");
The following inline style is generated (and tries to resolve the url "none"):
background-image:url(none)
Is there a special syntax I can use to set the background image to none inline?
I know that whenever you add/remove/modify any file in the "App_Code", "App_GlobalResources", and "bin" directories that ASP.NET will recompile and essentially restart the application.
My question is : "What happens to any threads currently executing durring the change?"
Do they finish? Is a Thread.Abort Exception thrown?
What happens if the application itself makes a change in any of those directories?
I have a Perl script that calls aspnet_compiler.exe to compile a large ASP.NET website. The problem is that it takes very long to run. Is there any way to compile just a single .aspx file from the command line? (I think that would suit the needs of my script) It seems that all aspnet_compiler.exe can do is compile at a directory level.
In order to return a value from a VB.NET function one can assign a value to the "Functions Name" or use "return value."
I sometimes see these inter-mixed in the same function. Personally, I prefer the return.
My question is, what is the internal difference, if any, between the two?
I know this is a terrible way of doing things, but it's for an internal app where security is no issue.
Basically, an old group created a php page with a drop down and this drop down is populated with entries from a DB. The DB owner is currently absent and for the sake of time, I would just need something that turns the entries in that drop down, always at the same url with the same ID every load into a List. Is there a quick, painless way to do this in .NET?
Hello,
.NET 4.0
I am looking for the easiest way to generate a Word document on our server.
Limitations :
Server side
I don't want to install word on the server
Data source is XML
I tried to generate a DOCX with XSLT which is fast and easy but the only way I could find to validate the generated document is to open it with Word and the only error I get when the document is not valid is "Error while opening document". Not very useful.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Alex
Hello,
this should be pretty simple but I don't get it. How can I draw a single point in .Net? If I use g.DrawLine(Black,0,0,0,0) nothing is drawn and if I use g.DrawLine(Black,0,0,1,0) a line with 2 dots is used. The same happens with g.DrawRectangle. This has me intrigued.
Thanks in advance.
I am looking for the asp.net vb syntax to write;

Hi,
I am working in an ASP.NET mvc application. With regards to URL's I could see the Controller and action names in the address bar when user navigates between pages. Is there a way to hide them, such that the address bar always displays http://mywebsite.com without any action names or controller names suffixing them, or is there any other standard practices? Or is it ok to leave the URL as such which can contain action and controller suffixes?

I am building a search page in asp.net 3.5. Search takes a bit of time (few seconds to few minutes). Current I use AsyncMethodCaller to call Search method. AsyncMethodCaller method stores search results in Session. I user Ajax timer to check if Search method finished and then display results.
What would be the best way to implement this scenario?
Can anybody recommend some quality ASP.NET hosting providers that allow you to multiple domains without making you use a "reseller" account or purchase multiple accounts. I really only need email accounts for one of the domains.
I'm looking for something about $20 to $45 USD.
Hi,
I'm writing an application in wpf that uses MVVM. I wondered if I could use ado.net entity data model as a model in MVVM? Is it the same? If not, why?
Thanks for any help.

The site im working on is an Ajax enabled ASP.net/C# project and i have a URL like this:
http://localhost:2531/(S(lfcvqc55wkabpp55o1x4pvq5))/Logon.aspx
How do you get rid of the (S(lfcvqc55wkabpp55o1x4pvq5)) portion of the URL? I have a feeling its a web.config parameter however I'm not really sure what you call this part, GUID, Session ID?
