• How do I get HDMI out working on an Acer AC700 HDMI?

  I have installed Ubuntu on my Acer AC700 (Chromebook) using both the Cr-48 method and the script method both of which I think are the same. The only thing that does not work is HDMI out. I assume this is because it uses the Chrome OS kernel to boot so I have hoped that eventually it would update and work. I'm currently running 12.04 with Kernel 3.4.0 and still no luck. I've tried booting in recovery for Ubuntu and attempting to get Xorg to generate a new config but I don't know enough to do anything else and that didn't work. Am I the only one out there? Is there no one else who wants this to be possible Any help is greatly appreciated.

  So, I'm slightly computer literate, and find myself frustrated and overwhelmed. My computer is a acer laptop, extensa 5620-6572. I have a dual boot with windows vista and ubuntu 12.04. The ubuntu 12.04 I got was from an upgrade, not a disc. I tried to load ubuntu 12.04, and it gets stuck in the "busybox", and I don't know how to proceed from there. I went to my windows partition and downloaded Ex2 from http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2fsd/ and thought I'd try access my files and save them to a external HD. Then when I restarted my computer and went to windows, it always freezes after it loads the OS. So then, I downloaded and burned a ubuntu 12.04 boot disk, and the disk works fine. But I still can't figure out how to view files on my harddrive.

  I just installed ubuntu. things seems great but I have no sound. When I go to the settings menu I chose from various setup. I found one that work which had 4 speakers a subwofer and a front speaker. When I test it the sound works fine. However, when I try playing an *.mp3 file or try to watch a video on you tube I get no sound at all. I have a dual boot with windows XP and there is no problem in windows at all. Below is my setup.   I have just upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 and I found a weird behaviour in the multi-workspace management. Let's say that I have a couple of terminals opened in one workspace, and that I want to do something else in another workspace. I move to that workspace and then I click on the terminal icon. Immediately I am taken to the initial workspace. This is similar to the multiple workspace behaviour in Os X and it is entirely undesirable. How can I disable the application-workspace association in 12.04? Thanks

  I have had this OS for a little bit but this is my first upgrade and my first issue I am trying to deal with without my buddy who got my on Ubuntu in the first place (who is on the other side of the country.) I am running an IBM Lenovo T400 Thinkpad that had 11.10 on it and worked flawless. I upgraded to 12.04 a few weeks back and I have not been able to connect to the wifi in my home or anywhere for that matter. I have been trying to mess with it through reading the forums and am not quite sure what my problem is. I am running off of Fios Internet and the wifi keep disconnecting and prompts me to retype the password for reconnecting. If you guys could give me a step by step process of how I should go about fixing this I would GREATLY appreciate it!

They don't work. Via cable. I need an application that can detect via cable (because I have a very different reason why I need it to detect via cable).   I just bought a new Dell Inspiron pre-installed with Ubuntu 11.10. All was fine until I updated the OS. Since then, I have this flickering line at the top of my screen and it won't go after rebooting or changing the screen resolution. It gets really annoying. I don't know which update did this. I tried reinstalling the image from Dell, and it worked fine until I applied the updates. I tried to take a screen shot but it does not show. The line seems to be outside the desktop area.   Though I have read and tried some advises regarding the change of colors in a theme, I found no answer regarding my question, which is: When I drag a window to the left (or right or up) side of the screen an orange frame shows up, indicating the area that the window will occupy. This frame is in orange. Can you please inform me how can I change this color to blueish, to match my theme?   Im trying to dual boot windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10. i created a partition in windows 7, booted the Ubuntu cd, installed Ubuntu and created a swap space(following all instructions detailed in various video tutorials). after restarting and taking out the disk my computer boots directly into windows. also, in the boot menu where you select what os to boot, Ubuntu doesn't show up, just windows 7. i didn't want to screw around with any settings and figured the community could figure out my problem faster than i could :p any help is greatly appreciated!

What i see is already there MPI/ Bit torrent/Jabber protocols / APIs / servers for messaging LAN / wire and other infrastractural cabels for connecting Boost and analogs on evry OS in most languages for multithreading there are lots of CUDA like on computer frameworks for fast calculating on computers GPUs What I personally do not see out there is a crossplatform framework for multiple processes interaction. Meaning one that would allow easy creation of multyple processes running in paralell inside one hoster app on one machine. In level not harder than needed for threads creation (so no seprate server apps - just one lib doing it all) Is there ny such lib and what can you propose for research topic?

  I freshly installed "Ubuntu 12.04" on my Dell Lattitude D830. While I am able to work on it, there is a starange problem while booting my laptop. It doesn't boot unless the USB drive which was used to install it is connected. It looks like the OS is installed on hard drive, but the boot record is in USB. However, I am not sure on this. I am not able to figure out the problem and need your help in this regard.

  I use Ubuntu 14.04, 64-bit. I installed Virtualbox and was testing another Linux OS (Deepin). My system froze and I could not get to a TTY session to reboot. I had to do a hard restart and when Ubuntu restarted I got various error codes one of which was "kernel panic - fatal exception in interrupt" Booting to Advance mode and attempting repairs did not work (fsck, grub repair, etc) I reinstalled Ubuntu and chose the option to keep my files intact. I can now access my system but many programs I have installed do not work. My question is; I have a Deja-Dup backup (but only of my Home directory), is it better to restore my backup files or do I have to reinstall all of my programs? The weird thing is, the programs I verified using the Software Center to see if they were installed are checked as installed, but won't appear in Dash.

  Just finished installing Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin on my HP Mini 110-1125NR and im having small, but rather irritating issues. I installed it over the Windows 7 (starter) which came with the netbook. Firstly, it will only boot from the USB flashdisk. If i try to boot from the hardrive, it goes to a black screen. Second, built-in wireless wont activate. system says its enabled and on, but the light indicator is still orange (as if its off), and i cant get a signal from my home wi-fi I havent found any solved threads for inspiration, and mos of them are pretty old (1 year +) so i thought of giving a try to see if any of you guys System is: HP Mini 110-1100 1gb memory Intel Atom CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz x 2 Os - Precise Pangolin - Ubuntu 12.04 160gb Hard disk If any of you are aware of the solutions of my issues it'd be awesome Thanks in advance for any help!
