  • PHP - Setting Database Info

    - by user1710648
    First off, I'm sorry if this shows no code which is not what Stack Overflow is about..But I have no clue where to go on this. I have a basic CMS I made, and I am trying to distribute it. I want to make it so that upon going to /cms/install for example, they set the database info, and different info to integrate into the CMS. Now my issue is, what would be the best method to allow the user to store that database info? A cookie seems to not be the right way..Could I store database info inside of a database? Not too sure where to go on this. More or less. What is the best way to temporarily store the database information the user gave before arrival of the full CMS.

  • How can I use "PHP Simple HTML DOM Parser" to get the contents of an <h1></h1> tag?

    - by KeriLynn
    I'm new to PHP =) Right now I am using PHP includes for my site template. I have my header, containing all my <head></head> info. What I want to do is write a code that will take the contents of the <h1></h1> tag from the page, and echo it into the <title></title> tag in my header.php include. I got the PHP Simple HTML DOM Parser from here: http://simplehtmldom.sourceforge.net/, and I found a code (I forget where in all my googling) that goes like this: <?php $url = (!empty($_SERVER['HTTPS'])) ? "https://".$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] : "http://".$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']; $html = file_get_html('http://www.google.com/'); foreach($html->find('#content h1') as $element){ echo $element->plaintext;} ?> That I think is supposed to echo the h1 tag contents? Like I said, I'm new to PHP and I only know the basics, and I don't know really know any OOP (yet), so I'm sorry if I'm asking a dumb question. It looks like it's getting the current page, then putting the contents of the h1 tag into the variable $element, and then echoing it. But nothing happens when I put it into my page. Can anyone help me with what I'm doing wrong? Thank you for reading!! =)

  • php $_SESSION[document_root] too far down the tree

    - by Idealflip
    Hi, I have multiple sub-domains within the document_root. And multiple folders/classes within those sub-domain folders. I need something that will help me with my include_once paths, but $_SESSION[DOCUMENT_ROOT] goes too far down. And if I were to use this, and transfer the website folder later, all my include_once paths will/might break. Hope my question is clear... Any recommendations?

  • PHP turn off errors - in one file only

    - by Industrial
    Hi! I am well aware about error_reporting(0); & ini_set('display_errors', "Off"); to make error messages go away. What would be an appropriate way to do this - for a specific file or part of code only? Surpressing errors with @'s seems like a bad idea since it apparently slows the code down... Thanks!

  • Php, in_array with no exactly match

    - by John Smith
    I want to do the following: $a = array(); $a[] = array(1,2); $a[] = array(2,5); $a[] = array(3,4); var_dump (in_array(array(2,5), $a)); this returns OK, as it expected, but if the source array is not fully matched: $a = array(); $a[] = array(1,2, 'f' => array()); $a[] = array(2,5, 'f' => array()); $a[] = array(3,4, 'f' => array()); var_dump (in_array(array(2,5), $a)); it returns false. Is there a way to do it with the built-in way, or I have to code it?

  • [PHP] How to unset object's inherited properties ?

    - by vbklv
    I have an Object ( [id] => 1 [parent_id] => 0 [result:Database:private] => [db:Database:private] => mysqli Object ( [affected_rows] => 0 ... ) ) Obviously, the Object has inherited the 'db' and 'result' properties of the parent Database class. unset($object-result) nor unset($object-result:Database) nor unset($object-result:Database:private) work. How could I unset those properties when they are no longer needed (i.e. when the object properties are about to be output)? Is it a generally a good idea to have a database object as an inherited property of other classes (extend one Database class with all other classes that use database connections)?

  • Simple PHP query question: LIKE

    - by pg
    When I replace $ordering = "apples, bananas, cranberries, grapes"; with $ordering = "apples, bananas, grapes"; I no longer want cranberries to be returned by my query, which I've written out like this: $query = "SELECT * from dbname where FruitName LIKE '$ordering'"; Of Course this doesn't work, because I used LIKE wrong. I've read through various manuals that describe how to use LIKE and it doesn't quite make sense to me. If I change the end of the db to "LIKE "apples"" that works for limiting it to just apples. Do I have to explode the ordering on the ", " or is there a way to do this in the query?

  • PHP : If...Else...Query

    - by Rachel
    I am executing this statement under while (($data=fgetcsv($this->fin,5000,";"))!==FALSE) Now what I want in else loop is to throw exception only for data value which did not satisfy the if condition. Right now am displaying the complete row as I am not sure how to throw exception only for data which does not satisfy the value. Code if ((strtotime($data[11]) &&strtotime($data[12])&&strtotime($data[16]))!==FALSE && ctype_digit($data[0]) && ctype_alnum($data[1]) && ctype_digit($data[2]) && ctype_alnum($data[3]) && ctype_alnum($data[4]) && ctype_alnum($data[5]) && ctype_alnum($data[6]) && ctype_alnum($data[7]) && ctype_alnum($data[8]) && $this->_is_valid($data[9]) && ctype_digit($data[10]) && ctype_digit($data[13]) && $this->_is_valid($data[14])) { //Some Logic } else { throw new Exception ("Data {$data[0], $data[1], $data[2], $data[3], $data[4], $data[5], $data[6], $data[7], $data[8], $data[9], $data[10], $data[11], $data[12], $data[13], $data[14], $data[16]} is not in valid format"); } Guidance would be highly appreciated as to how can I throw exception only for data which did not satisfy the if value.

  • PHP preg_match Math Function

    - by Matt
    I'm writing a script that will allow a user to input a string that is a math statement, to then be evaluated. I however have hit a roadblock. I cannot figure out how, using preg_match, to dissallow statements that have variables in them. Using this, $calc = create_function("", "return (" . $string . ");" ); $calc();, allows users to input a string that will be evaluated, but it crashes whenever something like echo 'foo'; is put in place of the variable $string.

  • PNG composition using GD and PHP

    - by Dominic
    I am trying to take a rectangular png and add depth using GD by duplicating the background and moving it down 1 pixel and right 1 pixel. I am trying to preserve a transparent background as well. I am having a bunch of trouble with preserving the transparency. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! $obj = imagecreatefrompng('rectangle.png'); $depth = 5; $obj_width = imagesx($obj); $obj_height = imagesy($obj); imagesavealpha($obj, true); for($i=1;$i<=$depth;$i++){ $layer = imagecreatefrompng('rectangle.png'); imagealphablending( $layer, false ); imagesavealpha($layer, true); $new_obj = imagecreatetruecolor($obj_width+$i,$obj_height+$i); $new_obj_width = imagesx($new_obj); $new_obj_height = imagesy($new_obj); imagealphablending( $new_obj, false ); imagesavealpha($new_obj, true); $trans_color = imagecolorallocatealpha($new_obj, 0, 0, 0, 127); imagefill($new_obj, 0, 0, $trans_color); imagecopyresampled($new_obj, $layer, $i, $i, 0, 0, $obj_width, $obj_height, $obj_width, $obj_height); //imagesavealpha($new_obj, true); //imagesavealpha($obj, true); } header ("Content-type: image/png"); imagepng($new_obj); imagedestroy($new_obj);

  • PHP: Remove blank line before text

    - by Bailey
    Occasionally, my email-to-support-ticket system catches an extra line break before the message itself, thus my messages look like this: " Hello. I have been wondering if y..." What can I use to get rid of that line before the text? It is on random occasion due to email providers and the way they format their emails using mime. I have already tried the trim functions but no luck. (Yes, I also tried ltrim) Once processed it should look like: "Hello. I have been wondering if y..."

  • PHP - Problem using file_get_contents

    - by shyam
    I have a problem while using the file_get_contents function. I am using it to get a response from a different web server, but it's not returning anything (shown as empty string using var_dump). Also, the problem is only while calling this specific server, because I got result when I used Google's address; and it's working fine in my local machine. I've tried cUrl too - but same result.

  • PHP - BUG with filter_var and FILTER_VALIDATE_FLOAT

    - by Samuele
    I think there is a bug in this filter_var or maybe I'm doing something wrong: Try this: $options = array( 'options' => array( 'default' => 3, 'min_range' => 1000.0, 'max_range' => 5000.6, ) ); $VariableValue2 = 5698; $VariableValue4 = 5698.2; $chicco3 = filter_var($VariableValue2, FILTER_VALIDATE_INT, $options); $chicco4 = filter_var($VariableValue4, FILTER_VALIDATE_FLOAT, $options); It suppose to don't validate it... Infact the value: 5698 is greater than 5000.6!!!! But with FILTER_VALIDATE_INT it work FINE!! It return 3 that is the default value in case it don't validate it... PERFECT... Instead, with FILTER_VALIDATE_FLOAT it validate it... It return 5698.2!!! I'm doing something wrong??? Thank you to everybody... Samuele

  • How to assign variable dynamically to php list function

    - by ravisoni
    What I am doing that I want to generate a list based on how many items are in an array, so I have counted the items and loop over them, create a number based var and construct a string $var which contains $a1,$a2.... and assigns the $var to list list($var) and tried to access $a1 but it gives me the error "Undefined variable: a1" Is there any other way to do it? Here is my code: $arr = array('1','2','3'); $listsize = count($arr); $var=''; for($i=1;$i<=$listsize;$i++){ $var.='$a'.$i; if($i!=$listsize){ $var.=','; } } list($var) = $arr; echo $a1;

  • Create a PHP cache system in MySQL database?

    - by Zach Smith
    I'm creating a web service that often scrapes data from remote web pages. After scraping this data, I have a simple multidimensional array of information to use. The scraping process is fairly taxing on my server, and the page load takes a while. I was considering adding a simple cache system using a MySQL database, where I create one row per remote web page with a the array of information pulled from it stored as a JSON encoded string. Is this a good enough system? Or would something like a text file per web page be a better idea?
