I am interested in developing a workstation-based application that communicates with a proprietary data server and that presents information from that server to the user. I am not intending the user interface to be browser-based, and have been considering Qt as my framework. Should I consider RoR for this? Thanks.
I need to build an application that accepts user input data (such as name, address, amount, etc.) and then merges it with a pre-loaded document template (order form) and then prints this merged document. I can use Windows Forms or WPF for this project.
Any suggestions on how best to approach this? I'm experienced with Winforms development, but don't have any idea how to handle merging the data to the document for printing.
I'd like to authenticate the user/application combination, not only the user.
The scenario is that we've built an app that guides the user to safe updates of some data.
If the same user installs PL/SQL Dev, Toad, or any other Oracle management tool, she can edit the data in ways that the app prohibits.
I'm looking for a good multi-thread-aware debugger, capable of showing performance charts of application threads on Linux, don't know if such a thing exists, perhaps as a Eclipse plugin.
The idea would be to track per thread memory allocation a CPU usage as well as being able to interrupt a thread and examine its stack trace, local vars, etc.
It does not have to be an eclipse plugin or a free tool, do any of you have heard of something similar?

Is there a way to catch all un-handled exceptions so that I can log them?

I know from reading this:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1230457/is-there-a-size-limit-for-ota-android-market-downloads/1232145#1232145
That there wasn't a limit to the size of an application that could be downloaded over the air (OTA) but I wonder if a limit, like that imposed by the Apple App Store (20MB) exists now that the Nexus one is running on AT&T's 3G network as of today.
Thanks in advance for your help/

I would like to be able to take a snapshot of the screen of an attached iPhone from within a C# application I am writing for Windows, similar to how Xcode's Organizer takes snapshots.

I'm trying to make an application-level add-in for Excel and I would like to store certain information about the program's state. The information I want to store pertains to the state of each Excel file (rather than across all Excel files).
