  • XNA Reach profile with VMWare - Vertex Buffers not working?

    - by Nektarios
    Running XNA app, using Reach profile, in VMWare Fusion host OS Mac OSX, VM is Windows XP SP 3 (my dual-boot OS). Running on MacBook Pro w/NVidia 320M graphics card When I am booted in to XP natively, my code works. The code is drawing cubes that are set up using vertex buffers When another friend runs this same code on Windows 7, it also works for him just fine When I am running my code in the VM, it doesn't work. I have billboarding sprites running in a shader program and this part displays fine. I get no crashing or errors, the geometry just doesn't appear. I tried Debug and Release. This is very basic operation so I'm thinking VMWare isn't the problem, but it's my code.... My init code: var vertexArray = verts.ToArray(); var indexArray = indices.ToArray(); indexBuffer = new IndexBuffer(GraphicsDevice, typeof(Int16), indexArray.Length, BufferUsage.WriteOnly); indexBuffer.SetData(indexArray); vertexBuffer = new VertexBuffer(GraphicsDevice, typeof(VertexPositionColor), vertexArray.Length, BufferUsage.WriteOnly); vertexBuffer.SetData(vertexArray); My Draw code: // problem isn't here, tried no cull GraphicsDevice.RasterizerState = RasterizerState.CullClockwise; GraphicsDevice.BlendState = BlendState.AlphaBlend; GraphicsDevice.DepthStencilState = new DepthStencilState() { DepthBufferEnable = true }; // Update View and Projection TileEffect.View = ((Game1)Game).Camera.View; TileEffect.Projection = ((Game1)Game).Camera.Projection; TileEffect.CurrentTechnique.Passes[0].Apply(); GraphicsDevice.SetVertexBuffer(vertexBuffer); GraphicsDevice.Indices = indexBuffer; GraphicsDevice.DrawIndexedPrimitives(PrimitiveType.TriangleList, 0, 0, indices.Count, 0, indices.Count / 3); For LoadContent: TileEffect = new BasicEffect(GraphicsDevice) { World = Matrix.Identity, View = ((Game1)Game).Camera.View, Projection = ((Game1)Game).Camera.Projection, VertexColorEnabled = true };

  • How Do You Get the bufspec While Using Vimdiff Through Git

    - by Elizabeth Buckwalter
    I've read Vimdiff and Viewing differences with Vimdiff plus doing various google searches using things like "vimdiff multiple", "vimdiff git", "vimdiff commands" etc. When using do or diffg I get the error "More than two buffers in diff mode, don't know which one to use". When using diffg v:fname_in I get "No matching buffer for v:fname_in". From the vimdiff documentation: :[range]diffg[et] [bufspec] Modify the current buffer to undo difference with another buffer. If [bufspec] is given, that buffer is used. If [bufspec] refers to the current buffer then nothing happens. Otherwise this only works if there is one other buffer in diff mode. and more: When 'diffexpr' is not empty, Vim evaluates to obtain a diff file in the format mentioned. These variables are set to the file names used: v:fname_in original file v:fname_new new version of the same file v:fname_out resulting diff file So, I need to get the name of bufspec, but the default variables (fname_in, fname_new, and fname_out) aren't set. I ran the command git mergetool on a linux box through a terminal. [Edit] A partial solution that bred more questions. I used the "filename" at the bottom of the buffer. It's only a half answer, because occasionally I get a file does not exist error. I believe it's consistently the remote version of the file that "does not exist". I suspect this has something to do with git and indexing. How do you get the bufspec value consistently while using vimdiff through git-mergetool?

  • Phantom class definitions in Flash CS5?

    - by cc
    I'm trying to get FlashPunk working in the Flash CS5 IDE (don't ask), and I'm having trouble getting it to compile. In strict mode, the error I'm getting is: net/flashpunk/FP.as, Line 95 1119: Access of possibly undefined property _inherit through a reference with static type World. Typically, this means that there is a missing variable definition or the class being compiled cannot see that variable. Presumably, the framework compiles for others, so I'm pretty sure this isn't the issue, but I went in anyway and made sure the variables existed and set these variables to public (they were set to internal), but the error still occurred. It was almost like the compiler wasn't seeing the property definitions. If I turn off "strict mode", the app compiles, but then I get this error: ArgumentError: Error #1063: Argument count mismatch on World(). Expected 2, got 0. Now, World is a class in the FlashPunk package. In the class definition for it, the constructor does not expect any arguments: public function World() { ... ...and yet, for some reason, Flash is expecting two arguments. So it appears that everything is correct, but Flash is somehow expecting something different than what World's constructor defines. These two issues combined makes it seem like Flash is getting some other phantom version of another class called "World" which has two constructor arguments and different properties. I've gone in and checked the ActionScript settings. The only external-to-project stuff referenced is the default "$(AppConfig)/ActionScript 3.0/libs". And I'm not using any of my own code other than a single "Main.as" file that super's Engine to set a few parameters - certainly, there's no new World class. With a generic name like "World", I thought perhaps this is a reserved class name within Flash or something, maybe imported from the default libs mentioned above, but some Googling turning up empty seems to put the lie to that. Any idea what might be going on?

  • Android USB driver for Xperia X10a

    - by mlohbihler
    I've been trying for a couple hours now, and have hit all of the sites Google found, but i cannot get the Android USB driver on my XP box to talk to my new Xperia X10a. I found the lines that some kind soul posted, and has been syndicated repeated, but they don't work for me. The idea is to add them to the Google.NTx86 and Google.NTamd64 sections of the android_winusb.inf file: ;Xperia X10 %SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0FCE&PID_E12E %CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0FCE&PID_E12E&MI_01 I tried a number of variations of the first line, including "Sony Ericsson X10a", which is what XP shows me in both the "found new hardware" wizard and the device manager, but no luck. The result is always the same. Here are my steps: Plug in the phone via USB "found new hardware wizard" appears Choose "No, not this time" and "next" Choose "Install from a list or specific location..." and "next" Choose "Search for best driver...", check "Include this location...", and browse for the "usb_driver" folder in the Android SDK installation. Click "next" It does a quick search and then says "Cannot install this hardware", "... because the wizard cannot find the necessary software". I've tried more things that i can recall now, including deleting registry entries, but it just won't work. Any help would be appreciated at this point. Regards, m@

  • storing user info/pass in web.config authentication

    - by Tomaszewski
    Hello, I am trying to write a simple internal app with some simple authentication. I'm also trying to make this quick and learn about the forms authentication via web.config. So i have my authentication working if I hard code my 'user name' and 'password' into C# code and do a simple conditional. However, I'm having a tough time storing the a user/pass to be checked against in the web.config file. The MSDN manual says to put this into the web.config: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms loginUrl="login.aspx"> <credentials passwordFormat="SHA1"> <user name="user1" password="27CE4CA7FBF00685AF2F617E3F5BBCAFF7B7403C" /> <user name="user2" password="D108F80936F78DFDD333141EBC985B0233A30C7A" /> <user name="user3" password="7BDB09781A3F23885CD43177C0508B375CB1B7E9"/> </credentials> </forms> </authentication> However, the minute I add 'credentials' into the 'authentication' section, I get this error: Server Error in '/' Application. Configuration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Unrecognized element 'credentials'. Source Error: Line 44: <authentication mode="Forms"> Line 45: <forms loginUrl="login.aspx" /> Line 46: <credentials> Line 47: Line 48: </credentials> Source File: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\asp\projects\passwordCatalog\passwordCatalog\web.config Line: 46 So my question is, how and where would I add the following in the web.config file? <credentials passwordFormat="SHA1"> <user name="johndoe" password="mypass123" /> </credentials>

  • IIS error hosting WCF Data Service on shared web host

    - by jkohlhepp
    My client has a website hosted on a shared web server. I don't have access to IIS. I am trying to deploy a WCF Data Service onto his site. I am getting this error: IIS specified authentication schemes 'IntegratedWindowsAuthentication, Anonymous', but the binding only supports specification of exactly one authentication scheme. Valid authentication schemes are Digest, Negotiate, NTLM, Basic, or Anonymous. Change the IIS settings so that only a single authentication scheme is used. I have searched SO and other sites quite a bit but can't seem to find someone with my exact situation. I cannot change the IIS settings because this is a third party's server and it is a shared web server. So my only option is to change things in code or in the service config. My service config looks like this: <system.serviceModel xdt:Transform="Insert"> <serviceHostingEnvironment> <baseAddressPrefixFilters> <add prefix="http://www.somewebsite.com"/> </baseAddressPrefixFilters> </serviceHostingEnvironment> <bindings> <webHttpBinding> <binding name="{Binding Name}" > <security mode="None" /> </binding> </webHttpBinding> </bindings> <services> <service name="{Namespace to Service}"> <endpoint address="" binding="webHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="{Binding Name}" contract="System.Data.Services.IRequestHandler"> </endpoint> </service> </services> </system.serviceModel> As you can see I tried to set the security mode to "None" but that didn't seem to help. What should I change to resolve this error?

  • Select the Initial Text in a Silverlight TextBox

    - by Dan Auclair
    I am trying to figure out the best way to select all the text in a TextBox the first time the control is loaded. I am using the MVVM pattern, so I am using two-way binding for the Text property of the TextBox to a string on my ViewModel. I am using this TextBox to "rename" something that already has a name, so I would like to select the old name when the control loads so it can easily be deleted and renamed. The initial text (old name) is populated by setting it in my ViewModel, and it is then reflected in the TextBox after the data binding completes. What I would really like to do is something like this: <TextBox x:Name="NameTextBox" Text="{Binding NameViewModelProperty, Mode=TwoWay}" SelectedText="{Binding NameViewModelProperty, Mode=OneTime}" /> Basically just use the entire text as the SelectedText with OneTime binding. However, that does not work since the SelectedText is not a DependencyProperty. I am not completely against adding the selection code in the code-behind of my view, but my problem in that case is determining when the initial text binding has completed. The TextBox always starts empty, so it can not be done in the constructor. The TextChanged event only seems to fire when a user enters new text, not when the text is changed from the initial binding of the ViewModel. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

  • nasm/yasm arguments, linkage to C++

    - by arionik
    Hello everybody, I've got a question concerning nasm and its linkage to C++. I declare a litte test function as extern "C" void __cdecl myTest( byte i1, byte i2, int stride, int *width ); and I call it like this: byte i1 = 1, i2 = 2; int stride = 3, width = 4; myTest( i1, i2, stride, &width ); the method only serves to debug assembly and have a look at how the stack pointer is used to get the arguments. beyond that, the pointer arguments value shall be set to 7, to figure out how that works. This is implemented like this: global _myTest _myTest: mov eax, [esp+4] ; 1 mov ebx, [esp+8] ; 2 mov ecx, dword [esp+16] ; width mov edx, dword [esp+12] ; stride mov eax, dword [esp+16] mov dword [eax], 7 ret and compiled via yasm -f win32 -g cv8 -m x86 -o "$(IntDir)\$(InputName).obj" "$(InputPath)" , then linked to the c++ app. In debug mode, everything works fine. the function is called a couple of times and works as expected, whereas in release mode the function works once, but subsequent programm operations fail. It seems to me that something's wrong with stack/frame pointers, near/far, but I'm quite new to this subject and need a little help. thanks in advance! a.

  • C++ Swig Python (Embedded Python in C++) works in Release but not in Debug

    - by sambha
    Platform: Windows 7, 64 bit (x64), Visual Studio 2008 I chose Python & Swig binding as the scripting environment of the application. As a prototype, created a simple VS solution with main() which initializes Python (Py_Initalize, Py_setPyHome, etc) & executes test.py. In the same solution created another project which is a DLL of a simple class. Used SWIG to wrap this class. This DLL is the _MyClasses.pyd. test.py creates the objects of my class & calls its member functions. All this works like a charm in the Release mode. But does not work in Debug mode (even tried banging my head on the laptop ;-) ). Output of my work looks like this (in both release & debug): x64 -debug - _MyClasses.pyd - MyClasses.py - test.exe - test.py - python26.dll - python26_d.dll Note that the debug version is linked against python26_d.lib. Had to build python myself for this! test.py import MyClasses print "ello" m = MyClasses.Male("John Doe", 25) print m.getType() Male is the C++ class. The problem: Traceback (most recent call last): File "test.py", line 6, in <module> import MyClasses File "...\x64\Debug\MyClasses.py", line 25, in <module> _MyClasses = swig_import_helper() File "...\x64\Debug\MyClasses.py", line 17, in swig_imp ort_helper import _MyClasses ImportError: No module named _MyClasses [15454 refs] I am used to Makefiles & am new to Visual Studio. I dont know who the culprit is here: Swig, The debug build of Python, Visual Studio, my stupidity. Thank you in advance. It will be a great help.

  • desktop shortcut icon not showing in web setup project

    - by davsan
    i've created a web setup project and i wanted it to create a desktop shortcut to the web application (ex: http://localhost/xx/yy.aspx). up to this point it was pretty easy: i created a shortcut (doesnt matter where), gave it the url i wanted, added this to the User's Desktop special folder of my web setup project, and it was placed on the desktop after the installation. but then i wanted to display my custom shortcut icon. i set the icon of the shortcut i've created on my file system. then i re-included this to the setup project. however after the installation the shortcut kept showing the default IE icon again. (i tried these on windows 2003 server, on win xp the shortcut showed up iconless) after some trials i found another way: i recreated an iconless shortcut on my file system, opened my web setup project, included this shortcut and my icon to Web Application Folder under File System on Target Machine, then clicked on User's Desktop, right clicked on the right hand side blank area, selected Create New Shortcut and chose the shortcut i've just added. Then under User's Desktop i clicked on the newly created shortcut, opened the Properties window and set its Icon property to my included icon. These steps solved it all both on 2003 server and win xp. Though this wasnt really a question i wanted to share it anyways because it was quite annoying.

  • Clearing canvas with Canvas.drawColor()

    - by strangeInAStrangerLand
    I'm attempting to change the background image of a custom View with some success. The image will change but the problem is that I still see traces of the old image. When I attempt to clear the canvas before drawing the new image, it doesn't appear to work. I create a bitmap to store the image. When changing the image, I call Canvas.drawColor() before drawing the new image but the old image persists. I've tried drawColor(0), drawColor(Color.BLACK), c.drawColor(0, PorterDuff.Mode.CLEAR), and none of the above works. As such, I had to post this for review from more experienced minds than mine. The actual code is as follows: private int bgnd; private boolean switching; public void setBgnd(int incoming){ switching = true; switch (incoming){ case R.drawable.image1: bgnd = incoming; this.invalidate(); break; case R.drawable.image2: bgnd = incoming; this.invalidate(); break; } } protected void onDraw(Canvas c){ if(switching == true){ Bitmap b = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), bgnd); c.drawColor(0, PorterDuff.Mode.CLEAR); c.drawBitmap(b, 0, 0, null); switching = false; }else{ Bitmap b = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), bgnd); c.drawBitmap(b, 0, 0, null); } }

    hi everyone. im trying to implement simple secured client server communiction using WCF. when im launching mt server everty thing is OK , But when im launching my client im getting this error: Error : An error occurred while making the HTTP request to https://localhost:800 0/ExchangeService. This could be due to the fact that the server certificate is not configured properly with HTTP.SYS in the HTTPS case. This could also be caus ed by a mismatch of the security binding between the client and the server. this is the server code : Uri address = new Uri("https://localhost:8000/ExchangeService"); WSHttpBinding binding = new WSHttpBinding(); //Set Binding Params binding.Security.Mode = SecurityMode.Transport; binding.Security.Transport.ClientCredentialType = HttpClientCredentialType.None; binding.Security.Transport.ProxyCredentialType = HttpProxyCredentialType.None; Type contract = typeof(ExchangeService.ServiceContract.ITradeService); ServiceHost host = new ServiceHost(typeof(TradeService)); host.AddServiceEndpoint(contract, binding, address); host.Open(); this is the client configuration (app.config): </client> <bindings> <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="TradeWsHttpBinding"> <security mode="Transport"> <transport clientCredentialType="None" proxyCredentialType ="None"/> </security> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> </bindings> the security configuration at both the client and the server are the same , and i dont need certificate for the server in that kind of security (transport) so why do i get this exception ???? thanks...

  • Debugging a release only flash problem

    - by Fire Lancer
    I've got an Adobe Flash 10 program that freezes in certain cases, however only when running under a release version of the flash player. With the debug version, the application works fine. What are the best approaches to debugging such issues? I considered installing the release player on my computer and trying to set some kind of non-graphical method of output up (I guess there's some way to write a log file or similar?), however I see no way to have both the release and debug versions installed anyway :( . EDIT: Ok I managed to replace my version of flash player with the release version, and no freeze...so what I know so far is: Flash: Debug Release Vista 32: works works XP PRO 32: works* freeze I gave them the debug players I had to test this Hmm, seeming less and less like an error in my code and more like a bug in the player (10.0.45.2 in all cases)... At the very least id like to see the callstack at the point it freezes. Is there some way to do that without requiring them to install various bits and pieces, e.g. by letting flash write out a log.txt or something with a "trace" like function I can insert in the code in question? EDIT2: I just gave the swf to another person with XP 32bit, same results :(

  • How to limit speed with BMW JSDK on 116i?

    - by lexicore
    I'm experimenting with the BMW Java SDK on the new BMW 116i Innovation Package. Basic things like turning the lights on and off, starting and stopping the motor work fine. What I'm trying to do now is that to write a carlet which would limit the speed to the maximum configured in the driver profile. Driver identity will be detected as usual via RFID reader. My problem is that though I can read the speed from the tachometer, I can't really limit the speed. Here's what I've got working so far: public class SpeenControllingCarlet extends GenericCarlet { public void start(final VehicleModel model) throws CarletException { RfidReader rfidReader = (RfidReader) model .getDevice(Devices.DRIVER_RFID_READER); Rfid rfid = rfidReader.getRfid(); DriverProfile driverProfile = model.getDriverProfileRegistry() .getDriverProfile(rfid.toString()); if (driverProfile == null) { return; } final Double maxAllowedSpeed = Double.valueOf(driverProfile .getCustomAttribute("maxAllowedSpeed", "190")); Tachometer tachometer = (Tachometer) mode.getDevice(Devices.TACHOMETER); tachometer.addSpeedListener(new SpeedListener() { public void onSpeedChanged(SpeedChangedEvent speedChangedEvent) { if (speedChangedEvent.getCurrentSpeed() > maxAllowedSpeed) { Horn horn = (Horn) mode.getDevice(Devices.HORN); horn.beep(440, 2000); } } }); } } This will just beep for two seconds if the driver goes faster than the driver profile allows. My question is - is there a possibility to actually limit the speed (not just silly beeping)?

  • PerformancePoint dashboard permissions problem in MOSS

    - by Nathan DeWitt
    I have a PerformancePoint dashboard running in MOSS 2007 portal. The dashboard consists of one SSRS 2005 report, running in SharePoint Integrated mode. NT Authority\Authenticated Users have read permissions to the report library containing the SSRS report, the dashboard, and the report library containing the dashboard. Users that attempt to access the dashboard receive the following error message: The permissions granted to user 'DOMAIN\firstname.lastname' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied) Users that then click on the direct link to the report in MOSS will see the report with no problem. Subsequent visits to the dashboard show the report with no problem. The report is using a data source that is located one folder up from the report location. The report has been updated to point to the correct shared data source after deployment. Both the report and the data source have been published. The data source is using stored credentials, with a domain service account that has been set to Use as Windows credentials. This service account is serving other reports in other areas with no problem. Edit: Ok, I've gotten a lot more information on this problem. The request is never actually being made to the data source. The user comes in to the dashboard and requests a report for the first time using their kerberos token identifying themselves. The report looks in the Report Server database and finds that they are not listed in the users table and generates this rsAccessDenied error. Once they view the report directly their name is in this table and they never have the problem again. Unfortunately, removing the user from the Users table in the RS database doesn't actually cause this error to happen again. Everything I've read says that when you run a Report Server in MOSS integrated mode all your permissions are handled at the MOSS report library level, and all Auth users have permissions to the report library, as stated earlier. Any ideas?

  • compile ICS/JB camera application - native library jni-mosaic error

    - by liorry
    I would like to use the Panorama mode that the ICS/JB camera application has. I've downloaded the source code (with resources) and managed to solve all code compilation errors but as soon as I start the application on my device (running JB), I get this error: 10-25 14:42:53.617: E/AndroidRuntime(23147): FATAL EXCEPTION: GLThread 2586 10-25 14:42:53.617: E/AndroidRuntime(23147): java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Native method not found: com.app.camera.panorama.MosaicRenderer.reset:(IIZ)V 10-25 14:42:53.617: E/AndroidRuntime(23147): at com.app.camera.panorama.MosaicRenderer.reset(Native Method) 10-25 14:42:53.617: E/AndroidRuntime(23147): at com.app.camera.panorama.MosaicRendererSurfaceViewRenderer.onSurfaceChanged(MosaicRendererSurfaceViewRenderer.java:49) 10-25 14:42:53.617: E/AndroidRuntime(23147): at android.opengl.GLSurfaceView$GLThread.guardedRun(GLSurfaceView.java:1505) 10-25 14:42:53.617: E/AndroidRuntime(23147): at android.opengl.GLSurfaceView$GLThread.run(GLSurfaceView.java:1240) I do have a libjni-mosaic lib, located in armeabi-v7a/armeabi/x86 and it seems to load it fine but it probably doesn't contain the methods the MosaicRenderer implements. I also tried compiling the CyanogenMod camera app https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_packages_apps_Camera/tree/ics but I get the same error... The camera itself works, for stills and video recording but as soon as I change to panorama mode, it crashes. Can anyone maybe point me to the right jni-mosaic lib or maybe to what I'm doing wrong? Do I need to do something in order to make my app use the JNI/SO files?

  • Why does RunDLL32 process exit early on Windows 7?

    - by Vicky
    On Windows XP and Vista, I can run this code: STARTUPINFO si; PROCESS_INFORMATION pi; BOOL bResult = FALSE; ZeroMemory(&pi, sizeof(pi)); ZeroMemory(&si, sizeof(si)); si.cb = sizeof(STARTUPINFO); si.dwFlags = STARTF_USESHOWWINDOW; si.wShowWindow = SW_SHOW; bResult = CreateProcess(NULL, "rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL modem.cpl", NULL, NULL, FALSE, NORMAL_PRIORITY_CLASS, NULL, NULL, &si, &pi); if (bResult) { WaitForSingleObject(pi.hProcess, INFINITE); CloseHandle(pi.hProcess); CloseHandle(pi.hThread); } and it operates as I would expect, i.e. the WaitForSingleObject does not return until the Modem Control Panel window has been closed by the user. On Windows 7, the same code, WaitForSingleObject returns straight away (with a return code of 0 indicating that the object signalled the requested state). Similarly, if I take it to the command line, on XP and Vista I can run start /wait rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL modem.cpl and it does not return control to the command prompt until the Control Panel window is closed, but on Windows 7 it returns immediately. Is this a change in RunDll32? I know MS made some changes to RunDll32 in Windows 7 for UAC, and it looks from these experiments as though one of those changes might have involved spawning an additional process to display the window, and allowing the originating process to exit. The only thing that makes me think this might not be the case is that using a process explorer that shows the creation and destruction of processes, I do not see anything additional being created beyond the called rundll32 process itself. Any other way I can solve this? I just don't want the function to return until the control panel window is closed.

  • Creative ways to punish (or just curb) laziness in coworkers

    - by FerretallicA
    Like the subject suggests, what are some creative ways to curb laziness in co-workers? By laziness I'm talking about things like using variable names like "inttheemplrcd" instead of "intEmployerCode" or not keeping their projects synced with SVN, not just people who use the last of the sugar in the coffee room and don't refill the jar. So far the two most effective things I've done both involve the core library my company uses. Since most of our programs are in VB.net the lack of case sensitivity is abused a lot. I've got certain features of the library using Reflection to access data in the client apps, which has a negligible performance hit and introduces case sensitivity in a lot places where it is used. In instances where we have an agreed standard which is compromised by blatant laziness I take it a step further, like the DatabaseController class which will blatantly reject any DataTable passed to it which isn't named dtSomething (ie- must begin with dt and third letter must be capitalised). It's frustrating to have to resort to things like this but it has also gradually helped drill more attention to detail into their heads. Another is adding some code to the library's initialisation function to display a big and potentially embarrassing (only if seen by a client) message advising that the program is running in debug mode. We have had many instances where projects are sent to clients built in debug mode which has a lot of implications for us (especially with regard to error recovery) and doing that has made sure they always build to release before distributing. Any other creative (ie- not StyleCop etc) approaches like this?

  • Chain of DataBinding

    - by Neir0
    Hello I am trying to do follow DataBinding Property -> DependencyProperty -> Property But i have trouble. For example, We have simple class with two properties implements INotifyPropertyChanged: public class MyClass : INotifyPropertyChanged { private string _num1; public string Num1 { get { return _num1; } set { _num1 = value; OnPropertyChanged("Num1"); } } private string _num2; public string Num2 { get { return _num2; } set { _num2 = value; OnPropertyChanged("Num2"); } } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public void OnPropertyChanged(string e) { PropertyChangedEventHandler handler = PropertyChanged; if (handler != null) handler(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(e)); } } And TextBlock declared in xaml: <TextBlock Name="tb" FontSize="20" Foreground="Red" Text="qwerqwerwqer" /> Now lets trying to bind Num1 to tb.Text: private MyClass _myClass = new MyClass(); public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); Binding binding1 = new Binding("Num1") { Source = _myClass, Mode = BindingMode.OneWay }; Binding binding2 = new Binding("Num2") { Source = _myClass, Mode = BindingMode.TwoWay }; tb.SetBinding(TextBlock.TextProperty, binding1); //tb.SetBinding(TextBlock.TextProperty, binding2); var timer = new Timer(500) {Enabled = true,}; timer.Elapsed += (sender, args) => _myClass.Num1 += "a"; timer.Start(); } It works well. But if we uncomment this string tb.SetBinding(TextBlock.TextProperty, binding2); then TextBlock display nothing. DataBinding doesn't work! How can i to do what i want?

  • Save as DialogBox to save textbox content to a newfile using asp.net

    - by user195114
    I want the users to type their text in the given textbox and on clicking on createNewFile Button, a SaveAs Dialogbox should popup and the users should browse through the location and save the file as desired. I have tried some thing but (1) the dialog box goes behind the application (2) when run, dialogbox opens 3 times, means it executes 3 times REPLY TO THE POST protected void btnNewFile_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { StreamWriter sw = null; try { SaveFileDialog sdlg = new SaveFileDialog(); DialogResult result = sdlg.ShowDialog(); sdlg.InitialDirectory = @"C:\"; sdlg.AddExtension = true; sdlg.CheckPathExists = true; sdlg.CreatePrompt = false; sdlg.OverwritePrompt = true; sdlg.ValidateNames = true; sdlg.ShowHelp = true; sdlg.DefaultExt = "txt"; // sdlg.ShowDialog = Form.ActiveForm; string file = sdlg.FileName.ToString(); string data = txtNewFile.Text; if (sdlg.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) { sw.WriteLine(txtNewFile.Text); sw.Close(); } if (sdlg.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.Cancel) { sw.Dispose(); } //Save(file, data); } catch { } finally { if (sw != null) { sw.Close(); } } } private void Save(string file, string data) { StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(file); SaveFileDialog sdlg1 = new SaveFileDialog(); try { if (sdlg1.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) { writer.Write(data); writer.Close(); } else writer.Dispose(); } catch (Exception xp) { MessageBox.Show(xp.Message); } finally { if (writer != null) { writer.Close(); } } } I have tried this.

  • What do I need to do to make a WPF Browser Application (XBAP) that requires Full Trust work on Windo

    - by Benoit J. Girard
    So this is a Visual Studio 2008, .NET, WPF, XBAP, Windows 7 question, regarding .NET trust policies. At work, we have several Web Browser Applications (.XBAP files) developed with Visual Studio 2008 (so .NET 3.5) that we deployed internally. These required a .NET FullTrust policy, we found a way to make a .MSI that adjusted the policy on individual stations, everything worked great. Users love in-browser apps. This was last year and on Windows XP. This year our company started upgrading users to Windows 7, and now none of our Web Browser Applications work. The error message is "Trust Not Granted", as if the policy-changing .MSI had not been run. Other details: I can confirm that our apps work on Windows XP for Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox, and do not work on Windows 7 for Internet Explorer 8 nor Firefox. I must admit that .NET security policies mystify me. Still, I could not find any mention of this problem on the Net at large or on this site. Did anybody else encounter this problem? Any and all help welcome.

  • Help me find an appropriate ruby/python parser generator

    - by Geo
    The first parser generator I've worked with was Parse::RecDescent, and the guides/tutorials available for it were great, but the most useful feature it has was it's debugging tools, specifically the tracing capabilities ( activated by setting $RD_TRACE to 1 ). I am looking for a parser generator that can help you debug it's rules. The thing is, it has to be written in python or in ruby, and have a verbose mode/trace mode or very helpful debugging techniques. Does anyone know such a parser generator ? EDIT: when I said debugging, I wasn't referring to debugging python or ruby. I was referring to debugging the parser generator, see what it's doing at every step, see every char it's reading, rules it's trying to match. Hope you get the point. BOUNTY EDIT: to win the bounty, please show a parser generator framework, and illustrate some of it's debugging features. I repeat, I'm not interested in pdb, but in parser's debugging framework. Also, please don't mention treetop. I'm not interested in it.

  • Conflict When Two Storyboards Sets the Opacity Property?

    - by kennethkryger
    Hi, Background: I have a WPF UserControl (MainControl - not shown in code below) that contains another one (called MyControl in the code below). MainControl has it's DataContext set to an object, that has a Project-property. When MainControl loads, the Project-property is always null. The problem: When MainControl loads, I want to fade in the MyControl using a special storyboard (only used this one time (this "specialFadeInStoryboard" changes Opacity-property of MyControl from 0 to 1). When the Project-property is set to a value other than null, I want the MyControl to fade out using the "fadeOutStoryboard" (changes Opacity-property of MyControl to 0) and if it's set to null afterwards I want to fade it in again this time using the "fadeInStoryboard" (changes Opacity-property of MyControl to 1). However, after adding the code for the "specialFadeInStoryboard", the MyControl is never faded out... What am I doing wrong? <local:MyControl Visibility="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}, Path=Opacity, Converter={StaticResource opacityToVisibilityConverter}, Mode=OneWay}"> <local:MyControl.Style> <Style> <Style.Triggers> <EventTrigger RoutedEvent="FrameworkElement.Loaded"> <BeginStoryboard Storyboard="{StaticResource specialFadeInStoryboard}"/> </EventTrigger> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding Project, Converter={StaticResource nullToBooleanConverter}, Mode=OneWay}" Value="True"> <DataTrigger.EnterActions> <BeginStoryboard Storyboard="{StaticResource fadeOutStoryboard}"/> </DataTrigger.EnterActions> <DataTrigger.ExitActions> <BeginStoryboard Storyboard="{StaticResource fadeInStoryboard}"/> </DataTrigger.ExitActions> </DataTrigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </local:MyControl.Style> </local:MyControl>
