  • powershell.exe tab completion - list alternatives?

    - by J Cooper
I've never really used PowerShell before, and playing with it a bit, it looks like it uses cmd.exe's style of tab completion (fill in the first likely candidate, and then you can use tab to cycle through other alternatives). I'd much prefer the way e.g. bash works, where if there are multiple candidates, it shows a list of them. Is there an easy way to turn this on, by any chance?

  • Looking for programmer in NYC

    - by Oren
I have taken the idea of "language maintenance" a niche that no one is paying attention to and created a company focused on live conversation with complimentary tools. Looking to create a web 2.0 style social network with an already clearly defined brand identity, design and plan. Already have assembled a team but am looking for a passionate programmer to take the technical lead and create a functional alpha and beta.

  • Wi-fi signal with keeping the internet cable

    - by daGrevis
So the situation is that I have Ethernet cable which provides internet to my computer. Thing I want is to have wi-fi connection in my house and Ethernet cable (like I have before) to use for my PC. I will use wi-fi for my laptop and mobile phone. I think I need router for that and I'm looking at Asus RT-N16 (suggested in Coding Horror) for it, but I am not sure. Is it the right thing for me and I will be able to get wi-fi signal and keep the Ethernet cable? I guess the system will be that current cable goes into router, router provides wi-fi signal and gives back new cable... or something like that. Thanks in any advice! And sorry if topic isn't in right site.

  • Rails wiki highlight/strikethrough version differences between article versions

    - by mark
Hi I'm wondering how to implement highlighting of changes to user edited articles on a wiki style rails project. Since articles may be fairly lengthy I'd ideally like strikethrough and highlighting, similar to github and wikipedia for example. Despite searching around the net I've not really come up with much, apart from instiki which is a complete wiki application. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    - by vibeeshanRC
    I am creating a XAML / C# WinRT App and i have a collection of collection and i am binding it to a Grid-view(collections as groups ) Now i have to color the background of the GridViewItem according to their index in the collection (Dark color for the first one and light color for the last one ) How can i implement using a converter. (if there are 6 collections with 10 items all the first item will the dark and the 10 the item will be lighter). Simply: How can i send the item-index property to the converter as a parameter. My XAML <GridView x:Name="Grid1" ItemsSource="{Binding}" ItemTemplateSelector="{StaticResource templateSelector}" SelectionMode="None" > <GridView.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <VirtualizingStackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" VirtualizingStackPanel.VirtualizationMode="Recycling"/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </GridView.ItemsPanel> <GridView.GroupStyle> <GroupStyle HidesIfEmpty="True"> <GroupStyle.HeaderTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid Margin="0,0,0,0"> <TextBlock Text='{Binding Name}' Margin="5" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </GroupStyle.HeaderTemplate> <GroupStyle.ContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="GroupItem" > <Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="0"/> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="0,0"/> </Style> </GroupStyle.ContainerStyle> <GroupStyle.Panel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <VariableSizedWrapGrid/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </GroupStyle.Panel> </GroupStyle> </GridView.GroupStyle> </GridView> .......... <converters:MyConverter x:Key="templateSelector" Temp1="{StaticResource Temp1}" Temp2="{StaticResource Temp2}" > </converters:MyConverter> <DataTemplate x:Key="Temp1"> <Grid > <Grid> <Grid.Resources> <converters:PanelBackgroundColorConverter x:Name="panelBackgroundColorConverter" Key="{Binding}"/> <Grid.Resources/> <Grid.Background> <Binding Path="MPath" Converter="{StaticResource panelBackgroundColorConverter}" ConverterParameter="sym"/> </Grid.Background> <Grid/> <DataTemplate/>

  • What are cons if we use javascript to apply css property to that browser who do not support that pro

    - by metal-gear-solid
What are cons if we use JavaScript to apply only CSS property to that browser who do not support that property by default? to keep my HTML semantic and keep free from Deprecated HTML. Is it against content, style and Behavior separation? How much it will effect to site accessibility, usability? What are cons? If I make accessible site then should i only use whatever i can do with pure css. shouldn't use JavaScript to apply CSS properties

  • How to draw mixed-formatted text with .Net 2.0

    - by Baldewin
Hi, is there a way to draw mixed-formatted text in .Net 2.0? I'm looking for something similar to System.Drawing.Graphics.DrawString() My problem with this method is that it allows only one format style for the whole text. But I need to draw text that has different format styles (e.g. a part of the text shall be underlined, another part bold and so on). Thanks a lot! Oliver

  • MonoTouch - foreach vs for loops (performance)

    - by ifwdev
Normally I'm well aware that a consideration like this is premature optimization. Right now I have some event handlers being attached inside a foreach loop. I am wondering if this style might be prone to leaks or inefficient memory use due to closures being created. Is there any validity to this thinking?

  • Ideal laptop specs for a Computer Science Masters student?

    - by Ayush
I have a HP pavillion core 2 duo 2 GHz and 4 GB RAM, and it is painful to use this machine for any kind of coding. Eclipse (especially Juno) literally takes 5 minutes to load. And even after that, everything is lagy. Apart from school stuff, I also use my computer as a television. I watch Hulu, Netflix, YouTube etc in 720p, and this laptop gets hot as hell and the fans are loud enough to wake somebody up from deep sleep. I DON'T use my laptop for Gaming or Video/Photo Editing. I'm looking to buy a new laptop (in which most widely used IDEs would work smoothly and playing hi-def videos wouldn't be too much for the machine to handle) any suggestions (on hardware specs) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

How can I make ALL of the lines indented?

  • Using data from a dataset in styles with Mapnik

    - by Alex King
I've setup Mapnik to connect to a PostGIS database, and display geometry. I'd like to have a column in my database called opacity, and use it as the opacity for that row of geometry when Mapnik renders it. So far, I've only found information on how to display text from the database, and how to use filters to display different styles when database values are within parameters. Nothing about how to use the values directly inside of a style or layer though - is this possible?

  • What exactly is server and client side pagination?

All I know is server side is faster and better if there is alot of data and client side is using javascript? What makes a pagination script server or client side? Also, right now I am planning to use this pagination which is like digg-style. Can someone tell me if that is server-side pagination? (sorry if my terminology is off)

  • How to search a MySQL database for a specific string

    - by Nadia
I am trying to set up a search feature on my site that will only return exact matches to keyword entered by the user. So if the user searches "dog" I don't want an article titled "Doggy Style" to appear in the search results (just an example I don't really have an article by that name). This of course does exactly that: SELECT * FROM articles WHERE article_title LIKE '%$searchQuery%' $searchQuery here is a PHP variable taken from the user's input form. So is there any way to return only exact matches?

  • PHP Menu Items Count then add under more button

    - by Adrian M.
    Hello, I use the bellow code to load the main menu elements from some CMS, the present code is perfect except that it loads ALL the main items on a single line of menu - which will make the width of it unusable in any centered design (under 1000px).. I want to change this script so after 15 main elements will add a "MORE" button under which the rest of the main menu items will show as sub-items of this "MORE" button (they will not have their own sub-items as the first 15 do).. How can I do it? Thanks! <?php require_once( '../../../inc/header.inc.php' ); require_once( DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'membership_levels.inc.php' ); require_once( DIRECTORY_PATH_ROOT . "templates/tmpl_{$tmpl}/scripts/TemplMenu.php" ); class SimpleMenu extends TemplMenu { function getCode() { $this->iElementsCntInLine = 100; $this->getMenuInfo(); $this->genTopItems(); return $this->sCode; } function genTopItem($sText, $sLink, $sTarget, $sOnclick, $bActive, $iItemID, $isBold = false, $sPicture = '') { $sActiveStyle = ($bActive) ? ( ' target="_parent"' ) : ''; } $sLink = (strpos($sLink, 'http://') === false && !strlen($sOnclick)) ? $this->sSiteUrl . $sLink : $sLink; $sSubMenu = $this->getAllSubMenus($iItemID); $sImgTabStyle = $sPictureRep = ''; if ($isBold && $sPicture != '') { $sPicturePath = getTemplateIcon($sPicture); $sPictureRep = "<img src='{$sPicturePath}' style='vertical-align:middle;width:16px;height:16px;' />"; $sText = '&nbsp;'; $sImgTabStyle = 'style="width:38px;"'; } $sMainSubs = ($sSubMenu=='') ?
