  • WPF - 'Relational' Data in XAML Using DataContext

    - by Andy T
    Hi, Say I have a list of Employee IDs from one data source and a separate data source with a list of Employees, with their ID, Surname, FirstName, etc. Is it possible in XAML only to get the Employee's name from the second data source and display it next to the ID, using something like this (with the syntax corrected)?.. <TextBlock x:Name="EmployeeID" Text="{Binding ID}"></TextBlock> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" DataContext="{StaticResource EmployeeList[**where ID = {Binding ID}**]}" Text="{Binding Surname}"/> I'm thinking back to my days using XML and XSLT with XPath to achieve the kind of thing shown above. Is this kind of thing possible in XAML? Or do I need to 'denormalize' the data first in code, into one consolidated list? It seems like it should be possible to do this simple task using XAML only, but I can't quite get my head around how you would switch the DataContext correctly and what the syntax would be to achieve this. Is it possible, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks, AT

  • keyup bindings not working in Firefox

    - by Jarred
    Hi. You can see my project here - http://www.inluxphoto.com/custom/jsgallery/index.php I am attempting to make the left and right arrow keys move the slideshow. I was able to get it to work in all browsers by following exactly the instructions on the front page of jqueryfordesigners.com (sorry I am only allowed one link). However, it is necessary that the keyup be unbinded until the animation completes, so the user cannot do a quick double tap of the key, which breaks the show. This led me to the following function - function keyCommands() { //Bind Keys according to keyAssignments function keyCommandBind() { $(document.documentElement).bind('keyup', keyAssignments) } //Bind functions to specific keys function keyAssignments() { if (event.keyCode == 37) { leftArrow(); } if (event.keyCode == 39) { rightArrow(); } if (event.keyCode == 32) { spaceBar(); } } function leftArrow() { //unbind, do stuff, rebind } function rightArrow() { //unbind, do stuff, rebind } function spaceBar() { //unbind, do stuff, rebind } keyCommandBind(); } This works in all browsers except Firefox & Camino. Firebug tells me event (ie event.keyCode) is not defined. That's true, it's not defined, and I understand that. However I don't understand why, if it's not defined, does it work in all other browsers. How can I appropriately define this? Or, am I doing it wrong? Any help would be most appreciated, thanks for your time!

  • bi-directional o2m/m2o beats uni-directional o2m in SQL efficiency?

    - by Henry
    Use these 2 persistent CFCs for example: // Cat.cfc component persistent="true" { property name="id" fieldtype="id" generator="native"; property name="name"; } // Owner.cfc component persistent="true" { property name="id" fieldtype="id" generator="native"; property name="cats" type="array" fieldtype="one-to-many" cfc="cat" cascade="all"; } When one-to-many (unidirectional) Note: inverse=true on unidirectional will yield undesired result: insert into cat (name) values (?) insert into Owner default values update cat set Owner_id=? where id=? When one-to-many/many-to-one (bi-directional, inverse=true on Owner.cats): insert into Owner default values insert into cat (name, ownerId) values (?, ?) Does that mean setting up bi-directional o2m/m2o relationship is preferred 'cause the SQL for inserting the entities is more efficient?

  • how to get an html anchor effect with JQuery

    - by frosty
    I have a click handler, which has "event.preventDefault". There is whole lot of logic that occurs within this function. At the end of this logic i would like the page to scroll up to the top. ie the same effect as an anchor. ie " $('.vod-playlist-film a').bind("click", function(event) { // some logic // now i need the browser to goto the top of the page event.preventDefault(); });

  • c# binarysearch a list<T> by a member of T

    - by Pygmy
    I have a baseclass Event with a DateTime member TimeStamp. Lots of other event-classes will derive from this. I want to be able to search a list of events (that can contain events with duplicate timestamps) fast, so I'd like to use a binary search. So I started out writing something like this : public class EventList<T> : List<T> where T : Event { private IComparer<T> comparer = (x, y) => Comparer<DateTime>.Default.Compare(x.TimeStamp, y.TimeStamp); public IEnumerable<T> EventsBetween(DateTime inFromTime, DateTime inToTime) { // Find the index for the beginning. int index = this.BinarySearch(inFromTime, comparer); // BLAH REST OF IMPLEMENTATION } } The problem is that the BinarySearch only accepts T (so - an Event type) as parameter, while I want to search based on a member of T - the TimeStamp. What would be a good way to approach this ?

  • FAQ&ndash;Highlight GridView Row on Click and Retain Selected Row on Postback

    - by Vincent Maverick Durano
    A couple of months ago I’ve written a simple demo about “Highlighting GridView Row on MouseOver”. I’ve noticed many members in the forums (http://forums.asp.net) are asking how to highlight row in GridView and retain the selected row across postbacks. So I’ve decided to write this post to demonstrate how to implement it as reference to others who might need it. In this demo I going to use a combination of plain JavaScript and jQuery to do the client-side manipulation. I presumed that you already know how to bind the grid with data because I will not include the codes for populating the GridView here. For binding the gridview you can refer this post: Binding GridView with Data the ADO.Net way or this one: GridView Custom Paging with LINQ. To get started let’s implement the highlighting of GridView row on row click and retain the selected row on postback.  For simplicity I set up the page like this: <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <h2>You have selected Row: (<asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" />)</h2> <asp:HiddenField ID="hfCurrentRowIndex" runat="server"></asp:HiddenField> <asp:HiddenField ID="hfParentContainer" runat="server"></asp:HiddenField> <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" onclick="Button1_Click" Text="Trigger Postback" /> <asp:GridView ID="grdCustomer" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false" onrowdatabound="grdCustomer_RowDataBound"> <Columns> <asp:BoundField DataField="Company" HeaderText="Company" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Name" HeaderText="Name" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Title" HeaderText="Title" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Address" HeaderText="Address" /> </Columns> </asp:GridView> </asp:Content>   Note: Since the action is done at the client-side, when we do a postback like (clicking on a button) the page will be re-created and you will lose the highlighted row. This is normal because the the server doesn't know anything about the client/browser not unless if you do something to notify the server that something has changed. To persist the settings we will use some HiddenFields control to store the data so that when it postback we can reference the value from there. Now here’s the JavaScript functions below: <asp:content id="Content1" runat="server" contentplaceholderid="HeadContent"> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript">       var prevRowIndex;       function ChangeRowColor(row, rowIndex) {           var parent = document.getElementById(row);           var currentRowIndex = parseInt(rowIndex) + 1;                 if (prevRowIndex == currentRowIndex) {               return;           }           else if (prevRowIndex != null) {               parent.rows[prevRowIndex].style.backgroundColor = "#FFFFFF";           }                 parent.rows[currentRowIndex].style.backgroundColor = "#FFFFD6";                 prevRowIndex = currentRowIndex;                 $('#<%= Label1.ClientID %>').text(currentRowIndex);                 $('#<%= hfParentContainer.ClientID %>').val(row);           $('#<%= hfCurrentRowIndex.ClientID %>').val(rowIndex);       }             $(function () {           RetainSelectedRow();       });             function RetainSelectedRow() {           var parent = $('#<%= hfParentContainer.ClientID %>').val();           var currentIndex = $('#<%= hfCurrentRowIndex.ClientID %>').val();           if (parent != null) {               ChangeRowColor(parent, currentIndex);           }       }          </script> </asp:content>   The ChangeRowColor() is the function that sets the background color of the selected row. It is also where we set the previous row and rowIndex values in HiddenFields.  The $(function(){}); is a short-hand for the jQuery document.ready function. This function will be fired once the page is posted back to the server that’s why we call the function RetainSelectedRow(). The RetainSelectedRow() function is where we referenced the current selected values stored from the HiddenFields and pass these values to the ChangeRowColor) function to retain the highlighted row. Finally, here’s the code behind part: protected void grdCustomer_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow) { e.Row.Attributes.Add("onclick", string.Format("ChangeRowColor('{0}','{1}');", e.Row.ClientID, e.Row.RowIndex)); } } The code above is responsible for attaching the javascript onclick event for each row and call the ChangeRowColor() function and passing the e.Row.ClientID and e.Row.RowIndex to the function. Here’s the sample output below:   That’s it! I hope someone find this post useful! Technorati Tags: jQuery,GridView,JavaScript,TipTricks

  • Click edit button twice in gridview asp.net c# issue

    - by Supriyo Banerjee
    I have a gridview created on a page where I want to provide an edit button for the user to click in. However the issue is the grid view row becomes editable only while clicking the edit button second time. Not sure what is going wrong here, any help would be appreciated. One additional point is my grid view is displayed on the page only on a click of a button and is not there on page_load event hence. Posting the code snippets: //MY Aspx code <Columns> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Slice" SortExpression="name"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblslice" Text='<%# Eval("slice") %>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblslice" Text='<%# Eval("slice") %>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Metric" SortExpression="Description"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblmetric" Text='<%# Eval("metric")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblmetric" Text='<%# Eval("metric")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Original" SortExpression="Type"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lbloriginal" Text='<%# Eval("Original")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lbloriginal" Text='<%# Eval("Original")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="WOW" SortExpression="Market"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblwow" Text='<%# Eval("WOW")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblwow" Text='<%# Eval("WOW")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Change" SortExpression="Market" > <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblChange" Text='<%# Eval("Change")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:TextBox ID="TxtCustomerID" Text='<%# Eval("Change") %> ' runat="server"></asp:TextBox> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:CommandField HeaderText="Edit" ShowEditButton="True" /> </Columns> </asp:GridView> //My code behind: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } public void populagridview1(string slice,string fromdate,string todate,string year) { SqlCommand cmd; SqlDataAdapter da; DataSet ds; cmd = new SqlCommand(); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; cmd.CommandText = "usp_geteventchanges"; cmd.Connection = conn; conn.Open(); SqlParameter param1 = new SqlParameter("@slice", slice); cmd.Parameters.Add(param1); SqlParameter param2 = new SqlParameter("@fromdate", fromdate); cmd.Parameters.Add(param2); SqlParameter param3 = new SqlParameter("@todate", todate); cmd.Parameters.Add(param3); SqlParameter param4 = new SqlParameter("@year", year); cmd.Parameters.Add(param4); da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd); ds = new DataSet(); da.Fill(ds, "Table"); GridView1.DataSource = ds; GridView1.DataBind(); conn.Close(); } protected void ImpactCalc(object sender, EventArgs e) { populagridview1(ddl_slice.SelectedValue, dt_to_integer(Picker1.Text), dt_to_integer(Picker2.Text), Txt_Year.Text); } protected void GridView1_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e) { gvEditIndex = e.NewEditIndex; Gridview1.DataBind(); } My page layout This edit screen appears after clicking edit twice.. the grid view gets displayed on hitting the Calculate impact button.   • Performance Improvement: Alternative for array_flip function.

    - by Rachel
    Is there any way I can avoid using array_flip to optimize performance. I am doing a select statement from database, preparing the query and executing it and storing data as an associative array in $resultCollection and than I have array op and for each element in $resultCollection am storing its outputId in op[] as evident from the code. I have explained code and so my question is how can I achieve an similar alternative for array_flip with using array_flip as I want to improve performance. $resultCollection = $statement->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); $op = array(); //Looping through result collection and storing unicaOfferId into op array. foreach ($resultCollection as $output) { $op[] = $output['outputId']; } //Here op array has key as 0, 1, 2...and value as id {which I am interested in} //Flip op array to get unica offer ids as key $op = array_flip($op); //Doing a flip to get id as key. foreach ($ft as $Id => $Off) { $ft[$Id]['is_set'] = isset($op[$Id]); }

  • ASP.NET MVC authorization & permission to use model classes

    - by Tomek
    Hi, This is my first post here, so hello :) Okey, let's get to the point... I am writing my first app in ASP.NET MVC Framework and i have a problem with checking privileges to use instances of model classes (read, edit). Sample code looks like this: // Controller action [CustomAuthorize(Roles="Editor, Admin")] public ActionResult Stats(int id) { User user = userRepository.GetUser(id); if (user == null || !user.Activated || user.Removed) return View("NotFound"); else if (!user.IsCurrentSessionUserOwned) return View("NotAuthorized"); return View(user); } So far authorize attribute protects only controller actions, so my question is: how to make (custom) authorize attribute to check not only user role, usernames but also did i.e. resources instantiated in action methods (above: User class, but there are other ORM objects like News, Photos etc.) All of these object to check have their unique ID's, so user have own ID, News have their ID and UserID field referecned to Users table (i mean these objects are LINQ2SQL classes). How should i resolve that problem?

  • iPhone - how to track touches and allow button taps at the same time?

    - by Jonathan Cohen
    I'm wondering how to track touches anywhere on the iPhone screen and still have UIButtons respond to taps. I subclassed a UIView, made it full screen and the highest view in the hierarchy, and overrode its pointInside:withEvent method. If I return YES, I'm able to track touches anywhere on the screen but the buttons don't respond (likely because the view is instructed to handle and terminate the touch). If I return NO, the touch passes through the view and the buttons respond, but I'm not able to track touches. Do I need to subclass UIButton or is this possible through the responder chain? What am I doing wrong? - (BOOL)pointInside:(CGPoint)point withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ return NO; } //only works if pointInside:withEvent: returns YES. -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ NSLog(@"began"); [self.nextResponder touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event]; } //only works if pointInside:withEvent: returns YES. -(void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ NSLog(@"end"); [self.nextResponder touchesEnded:touches withEvent:event]; }

  • Java MouseEvents not working

    This may be a stupid question, but I have to ask! I have the following code snippets that are supposed to run their corresponding methods when the user interacts with objects. For some reason, "foo" is never printed, but "bar" is. myJSpinner1.addMouseListener(new java.awt.event.MouseAdapter() { public void mouseEntered(java.awt.event.MouseEvent evt() { System.out.println("foo"); //"foo" is not printed } }); myJSpinner2.addChangeListener(new java.awt.event.ChangeListener() { public void stateChanged(java.awt.event.ChangeEvent evt() { System.out.println("bar"); //"bar" is printed } }); I get no exceptions or stack trace. What am I missing in the MouseListener one? Thanks in advance.

Here again is the link to the SWF file I have (it's embedded in an HTML document): test.html Here is the source: package { import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.Event; public class Main extends Sprite { public function Main():void { if (stage) init(); else addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init); } private function init(e:Event = null):void { removeEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init); // entry point graphics.clear(); graphics.lineStyle(10, 0x000000); graphics.moveTo(0, 0); graphics.lineTo(stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight); } } } It just doesn't work! The line goes from somewhere offscreen to about the middle of the stage. What on earth am I doing wrong?

  • TranslateTransform for drag and drop in Silverlight

    - by fuzzyman
    We're trying to implement drag and drop in Silverlight (3). We want users to be able to drag elements from a treeview onto another part of a UI. The parent element is a Grid, and we've been trying to use a TranslateTransform along with the MouseLeftButtonDown, MouseMove (etc) events, as recommended by various online examples. For example: http://www.85turns.com/2008/08/13/drag-and-drop-silverlight-example/ We're doing this in IronPython, but that should be more or less irrelevant. The drag start is correctly initiated, but the item we are dragging appears in the 'wrong' location (offset a few hundred pixels to the right and down from the cursor) and I can't for the life of me work out why. Basic xaml: <Grid x:Name="layout_root"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition/> <RowDefinition Height="120"/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Border x:Name="drag" Background="LightGray" Width="40" Height="15" Visibility="Collapsed" Canvas.ZIndex="10"> <Border.RenderTransform> <TranslateTransform x:Name="transform" X="0" Y="0" /> </Border.RenderTransform> <TextBlock x:Name="dragText" TextAlignment="Center" Foreground="Gray" Text="foo" /> </Border> ... </Grid> The startDrag method is triggered by the MouseLeftButtonDown event (on a TextBlock in a TreeViewItem.Header). onDrag is triggered by MouseMove. In the following code self.root is Application.Current.RootVisual (top level UI element from app.xaml): def startDrag(self, sender, event): self.root.drag.Visibility = Visibility.Visible self.root.dragText.Text = sender.Text position = event.GetPosition(self.root.drag.Parent) self.root.drag.transform.X = position.X self.root.drag.transform.Y = position.Y self.root.CaptureMouse() self._captured = True def onDrag(self, sender, event): if self._captured: position = event.GetPosition(self.root.drag.Parent) self.root.drag.transform.X = position.X self.root.drag.transform.Y = position.Y The dragged item follows the mouse move, but is offset considerably. Any idea what I am doing wrong and how to correct it?
