I occasionally see the list slice syntax used in Python code like this:
newList = oldList[:]
Surely this is just the same as:
newList = oldList
Or am I missing something?
I keep getting this error on my project and i cant figure it out! please help!
error C2143: syntax error : missing ')' before 'constant'
the line is:
while (selection == ('a','b','c', 'd', 'e', 'f', 'g', 'h', 'i','A','B' 'C', 'D', 'E', 'F', 'G', 'H', 'I');
also i know there is an easier way to write that line out but im not sure how i can do it. im a beginner at this so can any of you pros edit this line for me!
I've got an actionscript 3 project which I created in Flash CS4, I just tried publishing it in CS5, it converted the save to CS5 and is now complaining about incorrect syntax at places that make no sense such as:
Scene=Scene 1, layer=Layer 1, frame=1, Line 12 '{' expected
Line 12 is:
function songinfoLoaded(event:Event):void {
I know it's a really simple question, but I have no idea how to google it.
how can I do
print '<a href="%s">%s</a>' % (my_url)
So that my_url is used twice? I assume I have to "name" the %s and then use a dict in the params, but I'm not sure of the proper syntax?
just FYI, I'm aware I can just use my_url twice in the params, but that's not the point :)
I really wish that Google was better at searching for syntax:
decades :: (RealFrac a) => a -> a -> [a] -> Array Int Int
decades a b = hist (0,9) . map decade
where decade x = floor ((x - a) * s)
s = 10 / (b - a)
What is the syntax for jQuery's SWFObject plugin?
I can't find examples containing more object attributes or parameters other than the ones in the plugin's homepage.
Why do I get a syntax error running this code? If I remove the highlighted section (return cards[i]) I get the error highlighting the function call instead.
Please help :)
def dealcards():
for i in range(len(cards)):
cards[i] = ''
for j in range(8):
cards[i] = cards[i].append(random.randint(0,9)
return cards[i]
print (dealcards())
var folders = from r in this.bdd.Rights
join f in this.bdd.Folders on r.RightFolderId equals f.FolderId
join rs in this.bdd.RightSpecs on r.RightSpecId equals rs.SpecIdRight
where r.RightUserId == userId
where rs.SpecRead == true
where rs.SpecWrite == true
select f;
How transform this linq query in the other syntax?
var folders = this.bdd.Rights.Where(r => r.....
I'm running PHP 5.3.0. I've found that the curly string syntax only works when the first character of the expression is $. Is there a way to include other types of expressions (function calls, etc)?
Trivial example:
<?php
$x = '05';
echo "{$x}"; // works as expected
echo "{intval($x)}"; // hoped for "5", got "{intval(05)}"
Is there a good php syntax highlighter for Emacs? I'm using Emacs 23. I've tried php-mode, but that doesn't do anything. I've tried nXhtml, but that ignores my color theme and reverts to some awful looking default. Is there one I've missed or perhaps a configuration setting I've ignored?
Hi,
I'm currently understanding one application developed both in visual basic and c#. Running through the code is getting tough as code is around 50KLOC. So i'm planning for generation of AST (abstract syntax tree). Will it be possible to generate for both language together.
Atleast a call graph generation will be helpful (but can't find any tool which works for both languages)
Please let me know if this question is confusing.
Thanks in Advance
Dev
I have code blocks written in Open Office Write and want colorize it. How can I do this?
EDIT: When I copy syntax-highlighted code back to open office writer it becomes black again. How can I change this?
I'm wondering what the difference is between the following two modules
# First Example
module Parent
module Child
end
end
and
# Second Example
module Parent::Child
end
Using the 2nd method, it appears as though the Parent module must be previously defined, otherwise I get an 'uninitialized constant' error
Given this, what is the preferred way of defining modules such as this and then adding nested children with regards to syntax and file structure (ie. folders etc). Reference to a Rails way would be greatly appreciated.
Are these two examples for all intents and purposes equivalent?
Hello,
I visited this site and i really liked the code colorer used by it (apart from that CSS3 article on speech bubbles).
I went through the source code of that page but could not find which syntax highlighter is being used there.
Does any one have an idea?
I'm looking for a free, syntax-highlighting, possibly autocompleting 'code editor's textbox' style control for use in a Visual Studio winforms or wpf project. It should work with C# and self-defined languages. There are pay-for solutions available - something like http://www.syncfusion.com/products/user-interface-edition/windows-forms/Edit would work fine - but I am looking for something simpler, and don't need to pay for unnecessary functionality. Any ideas?
Hi,
I just installed VS on another PC, but this time, while I am coding, it is not marking syntax errors while I am coding..... I need to press F6 to get the errors.
Normally when for example typing the line below, I get 's' underlined saying that there is a mismatch. Any ideas how I can enable this option?
string s = 4;
We are programming a ST269 microcontroller which has two IR distance sensors. To calibrate these sensors we made one table for each sensor with the distance we measured and the corresponding value we get from the ADC.
Now we want to use one function to approximate the values in between. So we defined two two-dimensional arrays (one for each sensor) as global variables. In our function we then want to copy the one array we want to work with to a working array and approximate our values.
So here's the code:
...
unsigned int ir_werte_re[][] = {
{8,553},
...
{83,133}
};
unsigned int ir_werte_li[][] = {
{8,566},
...
{83,147}
};
...
unsigned int geradenaproximation(unsigned int messwert, unsigned int seite)
{
unsigned int working_array[16][16];
unsigned int i = 0;
if (seite == 0) {
for (i = 0; i < sizeof(working_array); i++) {
working_array[i][0] = ir_werte_li[i][0];
i++;
}
}
else {
for (i = 0; i < sizeof(working_array); i++) {
working_array[i][0] = ir_werte_re[i][0];
i++;
}
}
i = 0;
unsigned int y1 = 0;
unsigned int x1 = 0;
...
}
This code is in a file called sensor.c. We didn't write anything about our global arrays in the sensor.h should we? The sensor.h of course is included in our main.c and there the function is called.
We also tried to copy the arrays via
memcpy(working_array, ir_werte_li, sizeof(working_array));
And in every way we do this we get a
syntax error near unsigned
in the line where we're declaring
unsigned int y1 = 0;
and I'm pretty sure that there is no syntax error in this line : )
The last time I spend coding in C is a few years away so I'm not sure if the way we try to do this is good. Perhaps we can solve this by using a pointer instead of really copying the array or something. So please help me out I'll appreciate your bits on this.
Maybe I am having a moment of 'afternoon', but can anyone explain why I get
Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 2
Incorrect syntax near ')'.
When running
CREATE PROC DisplayDate

What is the correct Syntax to be applied for "@[System::ErrorDescription]" inside the query like "INSERT" ? I am unable to retrieve the correct Error Description inside the table, as the result in the table is showing as "@[System::ErrorDescription]". I am not getting the result !
Are the square brackets around arguments in Clojure's defn, defmacro and binding (am I forgetting some?) really creating a vector or is it just a matter of syntax, making the arguments stand out from the rest?
I'm reading Clojure in Action which states:
Clojure uses vectors to denote
function arguments or binding forms.
which made me ask this question here.
Currently working through a Teach Yourself WPF tutorial. Usually I can mentally convert from C# to VB without any problem but this C# syntax is unfamiliar. How is it written in VB?
Private void Button_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
{
((Person)DataContext).FirstName = "blah blah"
}
My usual fave online converters are choking on this ... perhaps because they don't do WPF?
Hi chaps,
I hit a bit of a quirk of scala's syntax I don't really understand
object Board {
def getObjectAt(x:Int, y:Int):Placeable = return locations(x)(y)
}
works fine. But
object Board {
def getObjectAt(x:Int, y:Int):Placeable {
return locations(x)(y)
}
}
returns the error
Board.scala:8: error: illegal start of declaration
return locations(x)(y)
I found some stuff that says the second form convinces the scala compiler you're trying to specify an expansion to the return type Placeable. Is there a way I can fix this, or should I just avoid specifying a return type here?
