• Installing Glassfish 3.1 on Ubuntu 10.10 Server

  I've used the directions here to successfully install Glassfish 3.0.1 on an virtualized (VirtualBox and VMWare) Ubuntu 10.10 Server instance without any real difficulty not resolved by more closely following the directions. However when I try applying them to Glassfish 3.1, I seem to keep getting stuck at section 6. "Security configuration before first startup". In particular, there are some differences I noted: 1) There are two keys in the default keystore. The 's1as' key is still there, but another named 'glassfish-instance' is also there. When I saw this, I deleted and recreated them both along with a 'myAlias' key which I was going to use where needed. 2) When turning the security on it seems like part of the server thinks it's on, but others don't. For instances: $ /home/glassfish/bin/asadmin set server-config.network-config.protocols.protocol.admin-listener.security-enabled=true server-config.network-config.protocols.protocol.admin-listener.security-enabled=true Command set executed successfully. $ /home/glassfish/bin/asadmin get server-config.network-config.protocols.protocol.admin-listener.security-enabled server-config.network-config.protocols.protocol.admin-listener.security-enabled=true Command get executed successfully. $ /home/glassfish/bin/asadmin --secure list-jvm-options It appears that server [localhost:4848] does not accept secure connections. • Nginx ignores HTTP Authentication for WordPress login directory

  I am running WordPress in a subfolder of my domain for testing and development purposes on a VPS LEMP-stack. In order to password-protect the wp-login.php with an etxra layer, I used HTTP authentication for the wp-admin folder. The problem is that the http authentication is ignored. When the wp-login.php or wp-admin-folder is called, it goes directly to the normal WordPress-login. Everything worked fine until I upgraded frome framework 3.5 to 3.5 sp1. the wcf web service stoped working and returns the error: "Failed to invoke the service.   In the .NET BCL there are circular references between: System.dll and System.Xml.dll System.dll and System.Configuration.dll System.Xml.dll and System.Configuration.dll Here's a screenshot from .NET Reflector that shows what I mean: How Microsoft created these assemblies is a mystery to me. Is a special compilation process required to allow this? I imagine something interesting is going on here.

  I have a simple task. There are two classes : Ticket and Date. Ticket contains event, event place and event date which is a Date object. I also need to provide a move() method for Date object, so I used Calendar and Calendar's add(). Everything looks fine apart of the output. I constantly get 5,2,1 as the date's day,month,year. Lines with asterix return proper date.   Hi! When i try to register a person with the name Eric for example, and then again registrating Eric it works. This should not happen with the code i have. Eric should not be registrated if theres already an Eric in the list. In the servlet side, i get the following output in the tomcat logs: Inside Doget. inside getNextMessage. AddedObserver. After i type a message in the applet, and send it, I get the foll output in java console: Trying to send msg :you deR?? Message sent! But in servlet side, I dont get anything in the logs. I used the O'Reily Java Servlet Programming as reference(The observer interface comes from there). But I am not getting any chat communication between two clients. As can be understood from the logs, the POST method is not called. Any reason for this?

• How can I get 32-bit Direct3D working on my 64-bit Windows 7 system?

  I recently upgraded a Dell Inspiron 6400 to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I have a 32-bit 3D application that refuses to run, giving an error of "Failed to initialise [sic] Direct3D device". The dxdiag tool tells me: DirectDraw Acceleration: Enabled Direct3D Acceleration: Not Available However, the 64-bit version of dxdiag tells me: DirectDraw Acceleration: Enabled Direct3D: Enabled I have installed and re-installed the latest graphics drivers, as well as the DirectX 9 redistributable, but it stills fails in the same way. dxdiag reports the chipset name as the "Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family" with the the Chip Type as "Intel(R) GMA 950". The main driver is igdumd64.dll, version 8.15.10.1930. How can I get 32-bit Direct3D working?

  i have installed rkhunter on ubuntu 10.04 LTS when i try to test rkhunter report it doesn't send email to my external root email recipient. i can send email only editing /etc/default/rkhunter by replacing this row REPORT_EMAIL="root" with the desired recipient REPORT_EMAIL="[email protected]" These are my config file settings: /root/.forward [email protected] and /etc/aliases root: [email protected] But it doesn't work with root recipient. Any suggestion?

When I edit /etc/crontab or edit any user(including root) crontab via "crontab -e" command, it just adds "(system) RELOAD (/etc/crontab)" or "(admin) RELOAD (cron/admin)" in the log. No CMD in the /var/log/cron.   I have around 50 projects in Visual Studio 2005 that I am building a new development machine for and I'd like to slowly move those projects to VS 2008 but also have 2010 available for select new projects. Can this work? Are there any gotchas for this sort of setup? Any general advice for running multiple versions of Visual Studio on the same system would be greatly appreciated. Specifically related to managing a controlled migration of projects to new versions but being able to selectively keep some on old versions.

  I finally completed my own app, so the only work left is deploying the app. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and apache2(installed by apt-get), so I'm trying to deploy through passenger. I added below lines in the middle of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf file. At first, it was same 500 error but the 500 error page is from apache's, but when I reinstalled the libapache2-module-passenger, the 500 error page is changed to that from rails'. Because of rails' 500 error page(which is located at public/500.html), I think passenger module is properly connected with apache. What should I do to fix this problem? Do I need to configure something inside my app before deployment?

  OK, I thought I would try one last update and see if it gets me anywhere. I've created a very small test case. This should not build anything, it just tests the path settings. Also I've setup the path so there are no spaces. The is the smallest, simplest test case I could come up with. This makefile will set the path, echo the path, run avr-gcc -v with the full path specified and then try to run it without the full path specified.   Hello, I have 2 client compters running XP and MS office with Outlook 2007. I have a 2003 server running exchange. Clients e-mail account was removed on clients computer. But the e-mails are still on server as I see the mailbox with approx 14k of mail How do I restore the e-mail account on clients and retrieve the e-mail from server. I did not set up the outlook or exchange, so I do not know the e-mail settings. Any help? Chris

  In Rob Conery's Storefront series, Rob makes extensive use of the LazyList<..> construct to pull data from IQueryables. How does this differ from the System.Lazy<...> construct now available in .NET 4.0 (and perhaps earlier)? More depth based on DoctaJones' great answer: Would you recommend one over the other if I wanted to operate on IQueryable as a List<T>? I'm assuming that since Lazy<T> is in the framework now, it is a safer bet for future support and maintainability? If I want to use a strong type instead of an anonymous (var) type would the following statements be functionally equivalent?
