  • ActiveRecord: Produce multi-line human-friendly json

    - by Mika
Using ActiveRecord::Base.to_json I do: user = User.find_by_name 'Mika' {"created_at":"2011-07-10T11:30:49+03:00","id":5,"is_deleted":null,"name":"Mika"} Now, what I would like to have is: { "created_at":"2011-07-10T11:30:49+03:00", "id":5, "is_deleted":null, "name":"Mika" } Is there an option to do this? It would be great to have a global option, so that the behaviour be set depending on dev/live environment.

  • How can I pass managed objects from one AppDomain to another?

    - by Dennis P
I have two assemblies that I'm trying to link together. One is a sort of background process that's built with WinForms and will be designed to run as a Windows Service. I have a second project that will act as a UI for the background process whenever a user launches it. I've never tried attempting something like this with managed code before, so I've started trying to use windows messages to communicate between the two processes. I'm struggling when it comes to passing more than just IntPtrs back and forth, however. Here's the code from a control in my UI project that registers itself with the background process: public void Init() { IntPtr hwnd = IntPtr.Zero; Process[] ps = Process.GetProcessesByName("BGServiceApp"); Process mainProcess = null; if(ps == null || ps.GetLength(0) == 0) { mainProcess = LaunchApp(); } else { mainProcess = ps[0]; } SendMessage(mainProcess.MainWindowHandle, INIT_CONNECTION, this.Handle, IntPtr.Zero); } protected override void WndProc(ref Message m) { if(m.Msg == INIT_CONFIRMED && InitComplete != null) { string message = Marshal.PtrToStringAuto(m.WParam); Marshal.FreeHGlobal(m.WParam); InitComplete(message, EventArgs.Empty); } base.WndProc(ref m); } This is the code from the background process that's supposed to receive a request from the UI process to register for status updates and send a confirmation message. protected override void WndProc(ref Message m) { if(m.Msg == INIT_CONNECTION) { RegisterUIDispatcher(m.WParam); Respond(m.WParam); } if(m.Msg == UNINIT_CONNECTION) { UnregisterUIDispatcher(m.WParam); if(m_RegisteredDispatchers.Count == 0) { this.Close(); } } base.WndProc(ref m); } private void Respond(IntPtr caller) { string test = "Registration confirmed!"; IntPtr ptr = Marshal.StringToHGlobalAuto(test); SendMessage(caller, INIT_CONFIRMED, ptr, IntPtr.Zero); } } The UI process receives the INIT_CONFIRMED message from my background process, but when I try to marshal the IntPtr back into a string, I get an empty string. Is the area of heap I'm using out of scope to the other process or am I missing some security attribute maybe? Is there a better and cleaner way to go about something like this using an event driven model?

  • decodeURIComponent for postgres

    - by maletin
I use decodeURIComponent and encodeURIComponent in Javascript. Before I store this data in a UTF-8-PostgreSQL-Database, I should decode them: $my_data = pg_escape_string(utf8_encode($_POST['my_data'])); I'm looking for a PostgreSQL-Function to convert Javascript-Encoded Data.

  • What grammar based parser-generator tools exist for ruby?

    - by cartoonfox
What open source (preferably gem-based) parser-generator options do I have in Ruby? I've used (flex&bison)|(lex&yacc) from C in the past, and I'm comfortable with BNF-style specifications. I've heard of treetop, but it looks a bit alien and verbose compared to yacc... Purpose: I want to convert my text markup language to a BNF and generate the parsing code. I think it's a better strategy than my first-order solution: http://github.com/dafydd/semantictext/blob/master/lib/semantictext/rich_text_parser.rb

  • Const unsigned char* to char8

    - by BSchlinker
So, I have two types at the moment: const unsigned char* unencrypted_data_char; string unencrypted_data; I'm attempting to perform a simple conversion of data from one to the other (string - const unsigned char*) As a result, I have the following: strcpy((unencrypted_data_char),(unencrypted_data.c_str())); However, I'm receiving the error: error C2664: 'strcpy' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'const unsigned char *' to 'char *' Any advise? I thought using reinterpret_cast would help, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

  • Bring NSRunAlertPanel Dialogue to Front in Background Process

    - by mon4goos
If you call NSRunAlertPanel() from a background process in Cocoa, the dialogue does not come to the front and instead stays behind other windows. This post shows that you can bring the dialogue to the front if you convert the process to a foreground process. If you keep the process a background process, however, is there any way to achieve this behavior?

  • How to raise a validation event from a key press

    - by flavour404
Hi, I want to raise the: private void txtbox_startdate_Validating(object sender, System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs e) {} Function from a key leave event. The leave event looks like: private void txtbox_startdate_Leave(object sender, EventArgs e) {} The trouble is of course if I try and call it in this manner: txtbox_startdate_Validating(sender, e) An error is raised because in this case 'e' is an EventArgs whereas the validation function wants a System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs and so, how do I convert EventArgs to a System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs or create one so that I can call my validation function? Thanks, R.

  • BASH tr command

    - by user1457809
Id like to convert it to uppercase for the simple purpose of formatting so it will adhere to a future case statement. As I thought case statements are case sensitive. I see all over the place the tr command used in concert with echo commands to give you immediate results such as: echo "Enter in Location (i.e. SDD-134)" read answer (user enters "cfg" echo $answer | tr '[:lower:]' '[:upper:]' which produced cfg # first echo not upper? echo $answer #echo it again and it is now upper... - by Horace Loeb
I have an IncomingEmail model with an attachments virtual attribute: class IncomingEmail < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessor :attachments end I want the attachments virtual attribute to be initialized to [] rather than nil so that I can do: >> i = IncomingEmail.new => #<IncomingEmail id: nil,...) >> i.attachments << "whatever" Without first setting i.attachments to [] (put another way, I want this virtual attribute to default to an empty array rather than nil)

  • How can I get System.Type from "System.Drawing.Color" string

    - by jonny
I have an xml stored property of some control <Prop Name="ForeColor" Type="System.Drawing.Color" Value="-16777216" /> I want to convert it back as others System.Type type = System.Type.GetType(propertyTypeString); object propertyObj = TypeDescriptor.GetConverter(type).ConvertFromString(propertyValueString); System.Type.GetType("System.Drawing.Color") returns null. The question is how one can correctly get color type from string (it will be better not to do a special case just for Color properties) Update from time to time this xml will be edited by hand

  • Strange UPDATE syntax in MS Access 2003

    - by Sven
Hi, I've got an Access application with an update query with the following syntax: UPDATE TABLE1, TABLE2 SET TABLE2.VALUE1 = TABLE1.VALUE1, TABLE2.VALUE2 = TABLE1.VALUE2, TABLE2.VALUE3 = TABLE1.VALUE3, TABLE2.VALUE4 = TABLE1.VALUE4 The query is working but I do not understand what's going on here. I'm trying to convert this query to SQL Server. Can somebody please explain what this query does? My guess is that it's a special Access syntax. Thanks, Sven
