<b>Matthew Casperson's Hubfolio:</b> "Old MegaDrive/Genesis games can provide hours of fun on even modest PCs. In this article we take a look at some of the emulators that are available for Ubuntu."
I'm curious if there's a way to enable the more fun UI features in Ubuntu 11.04 that were available in previous versions. The effects I'm most curious about is the wobbly windows and the alt tab program switcher that looked like a rolodex. Those things were delightful. I've been reading about the compiz tool and since I'm a pretty noob user, I don't think I want to risk destroying my desktop for a chance to get these effects back.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The secret to achieving good SEO results in the natural search is build links to your site. It is really easy to do but you have to find high value sites and you can only do 2 or 3 a day. The hardest part of doing SEO is to stay consistent. I have devised a plan that only takes 1 hour to do, five days a week. It is a simple way to reach the top of natural search results in a fun and never frustrating way.
I was just wondering if there are there developers making java software for desktops. Is it even worth it, do any developers do that for living.
I am making a chat application using sockets and and java GUI, just for fun, but then I wanted to see some examples of desktop apps, but did not find many.
I have heard that Netbeans, is made using java, but the Netbeans in my Windows to me it seems like any other native Windows application
Microsoft Small Basic is intended to be fun to use. It is that, and more besides. It has a great potential as a way of flinging together quick and cheerful applications, just like those happy days of childhood. Tetris anyone?

I was in my Virtualbox running 12.04 trying to compile an app, and while waiting I happened to chance upon a forum where a comment said:

Fun, too, and doesn't need root.
Without thinking I ran it in my gnome-terminal it made my 12.04 virtualbox lag so badly I had to shut it down. My question is what does this command do?

Distro-hopping is easy and fun. Linux users distro-hop to solve problems and to try new software. But is it necessary? Haven't most Linux distributions reached a state of polish that makes distro-hopping unnecessary? Brian Proffitt wonders if distro-hopping shouldn't be discouraged.

I wrote an article on my personal blog a few weeks ago about my preparation for my first Microsoft exam, 70-432. ( link ) Since then I’ve been reading and demo’ing all the relevant features of SQL Server in the hope that if I get questions on them I’ll be prepared. I’ve learnt a few things in the last couple of weeks, some good, some bad which I’ll now share. The first thing I found is that learning about how SQL Server works is fun and interesting, far better than spending an evening...(read more)
I've noticed something about most beginner Internet marketers. They get really excited when they get traffic - even if that traffic doesn't convert to anything in the way of sales or proceeds. They're over the moon about the chance to make a profit. That's where they go wrong, unfortunately. It's fun to be excited at first, but after a week or so, reality really needs to set in and you need to start making decisions based on factors like conversions and ROI rather than raw traffic.

We have been running weekly meetings for the team in the interest of learning. I'd like to mix these up from sit and listen type exercises to something more engaging.
So I'm looking for a fun games to play with a team of 10 developers. They are of ranging experience, and the games must provide some kind of insight to some fundamental concept of programming the developers tend to forget.
All ideas welcome!
