Are there ways at determining the total size of a complex object in .NET? This object is composed of other objects and might hold references to other complex objects. Some of the objects encapsulated by this object might be POD, others may not.
Is there an easy way to convert an angle (in degrees) to be between -179 and 180? I'm sure I could use mod (%) and some if statements, but it gets ugly:
//Make angle between 0 and 360
angle%=360;
//Make angle between -179 and 180
if (angle180) angle-=360;
It just seems like there should be a simple math operation that will do both statements at the same time. I may just have to create a static method for the conversion for now.
During a recent interview I was asked why one would want to create mock objects. My answer went something like, "Take a database--if you're writing test code, you may not want that test hooked up live to the production database where actual operations will be performed."
Judging by response, my answer clearly was not what the interviewer was looking for. What's a better answer?
I've created a jQuery slider on my site using the Nivo Slider whihc is available at http://nivo.dev7studios.com/ . I'd like to have the ability to add in the images + links via a form so that I may create a featured content area. Any help is appreciated.
int i=0; char **mainp;
for(i=0;i<2;++i)
{ mainp[i]=malloc(sizeof(char)*200);
if(!scanf("%[^#],#",mainp[i]))
break;
if(i<2)
scanf("%[^#],#",mainp[i]);
}
why does gcc send me that warnings
warning: implicit declaration of function ‘scanf’
warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function ‘scanf’
warning: ‘mainp’ may be used uninitialized in this function
Hi
I'm using the following simple PHP proxy script but am getting a sporadic message at the destination site.
I'm thinking that perhaps it may have something to do with the HTTP_REFERER header, although I'm not explicitly defining it.
Can anyone tell me how to explicitly turn off or leave the HTTP_REFERER header blank?
Thanks in advance!
$url = $_GET['path'];
readfile($path);
Let's say I need to create a new file whose path is ".\a\bb\file.txt". The folder a and bb may not exist. How can I create this file in C# in which folder a and bb are automatically created if not exist?
Hi all, I have some files that in windows enable me to prompt messages when a device is plugged. In case it is lost it pops up a message that says the user to please return it to he owner. Does anybody know how can I do this in Linux? I doesnt need to be a complex thing, it can be an option in a right clic menu, or a splashcreen, or anything, just to make sure that the owner of the device may be looking for it.
Hi All
I'm looking for any website(s) devoted and/or related to Operating System Development, and would love for you to kindly share any links you may have.
I have searched myself, but keep winding up at the same old sites, and am wondering if there are others that just don't get noticed by the major search engines or something.
I've put this as a community wiki, simply because I don't think it's very fair to judge an answer based on a single link.
Thank you.
This is something I encounter frequently, but I don't know the elegant way of doing. I have a collection of Foo objects. Foo has a method bar() that may return null or a Bar object. I want to scan the collection, calling each object's bar() method and stop on the first one returning an actual reference and return that reference from the scan.
Obviously:
foos.find(_.bar != null).bar
does the trick, but calls #bar twice.
hello,
I made a web application that I connect to it from a mobile device
and I used Ajax Request Object but the status of the object returned data is 500
and after search I found that this means Internel Server Error 500
Is there any suggestions what may be the reason ??
thanks
I have a simple two vector dataframe (length=30) that looks something like this:
> mDF
Param1 w.IL.L
1 AuZgFw 0.5
2 AuZfFw 2
3 AuZgVw 74.3
4 AuZfVw 20.52
5 AuTgIL 80.9
6 AuTfIL 193.3
7 AuCgFL 0.2
8 ...
I'd like to use each of the rows to form 30 single value numeric vectors with the name of the vector taken from mDF$Param1, so that:
> AuZgFw
[1] 0.5
etc
I've tried melting and casting, but I suspect there may be an easier way??
Thanks in advance

Just seeking some advice. By profession I am primarily a front-end programmer working with ajax technologies (currently I use php as my backend language of choice). As of lately I've been looking at Java as a very good OOP language to learn and just wanted to know if you guys have any advice as to what's the best way to learn the language and achieve proficency that may some day lead to mastery.
Hi,
I'm about to start an application which will have both console and GUI interfaces. What I wan't to achieve is COMPLETE decoupling of application logic from interface. In future, I may also add web interface, and I don't want to change anything in my application.
Is there a good example (perhaps some open source project) where I can learn how this should be done properly.... also I'd appreciate advices/guidelines on how to do this.
Thanks
I am looking to write an app which received pushed alerts from a server. I found a couple of methods to do this.
1) SMS - Intercept the incoming SMS and initiate a pull from the server
2) Poll the server periodically
Each has its own limitations. SMS- no guarantee on arrival time. Poll may drain the battery.
Do you have a better suggestion please?. Thanks much.
I recently upgraded to PHP 5.3 and since then I get (sporadic) error messages which indicate Apache (or may be the cleaner of the session files) has no permissions to the folder where the sessions are stored.
This happens randomly and can't be reproduced with exact steps, which led me to guess it is the session cleaner.
Any one has experience with such errors?
Hi All,
I am wondering is there any way we can test the font size/color of a webpage in IE6+. I think it is not possible by checking the css class, as some other style may overwrite the styles of the class which has been assinged to that text.
Actually I want to know the browser assigned font-size to the text of the page, as we can do it in firebug on firefox.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'd really like some kind of filter I can use on my AjaxFallbackDefaultDataTable. It seems that I may be able to implement that with a ChoiceFilteredPropertyColumn, however I cannot seem to find any examples on how to use it, or just demos of what it does.
Can someone point me to, or show me how to implement a ChoiceFilteredPropertyColumn?
This may be a completely dumb question, but I've seen a couple examples declaring the variables AFTER putting them in bind_param:
http://devzone.zend.com/article/686
I've never seen this done before and all my programming knowledge says I should define them before hand. Is this a valid/preferred way?
I simply want to include a row number against the returned results of my query.
I found the following post that describes what I am trying to achieve but gives me an exception
http://vaultofthoughts.net/LINQRowNumberColumn.aspx
"An expression tree may not contain an assignment operator"
In MS SQL I would just use the ROWNUMBER() function, I'm simply looking for the equivalent in LINQ.
I'm trying to unit test an observer in rails but none of its callbacks are being invoked. I'm sure I have something configured incorrectly but just to be sure I was wondering if this may be a Rails limitation during unit testing.
I've looked at the docs and they don't mention anything.
How do I show the dates number format next to its name in the array using PHP? So that the number format is saved in the database and the month name is displayed?
Here is the php code.
$month_options = array("Month", "January", "February", "March", "April", "May", "June", "July", "August", "September", "October", "November", "December");
