When given a new task/challenge/application to build, do you always use the same framework, for example spring / struts? Or do you try something new that you haven't used before, such as GWT?
What makes you return to the same technology stack? Is it good to be advanced at particular technologies, or to have a broad understanding?
Project Output Path of the the main application is set to ......\bin\Release\ and was published flawlessly by ClickOnce before. For some strange reason, ClickOnce now fails with the following error:
"Could not find file 'obj\Release\EMS.OCC600.Infrastructure.Shell.exe'. c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Microsoft.Common.targets 2341 9 Infrastructure.Shell"
Anyone run into this before?
TIA.
I'm looking for a C++ MVC framework. Has anyone used http://www.tntnet.org/index.html?
How was it compared with like MVC.net or SpringMVC?
What compiler is required for it?
I'm using Core Data's automatic lightweight migration successfully. However, when a particular entity gets created during a migration, I'd like to populate it with some data. Of course I could check if the entity is empty every time the application starts, but this seems inefficient when Core Data has a migration framework.
Is it possible to detect when a lightweight migration occurs (possibly using KVO or notifications), or does this require implementing standard migrations?
I've tried using the NSPersistentStoreCoordinatorStoresDidChangeNotification, but it doesn't fire when migrations occur.
Our company has a project that right now uses nginx as a reverse proxy for serving static content and supporting comet connections. We use long polling connections to get rid of constant refresh requests and let users get updates immediately.
Now, I know there is a lot of code already written for Node.js, but is there a solution that lets Node.js act as a reverse proxy for serving static content as nginx does? Or maybe there is a framework that allows to quickly develop such a layer using Node.js?
Hi!
My wording may be off, but I wonder if there's an open-source HTML/CSS template/framework for creating 37signals-style layouts, much like this:
Note the tabbed layout and the sidebar to the right.
I think every business person would like to have excel UI, however they are forced into using web applications that sometimes look like really bad excel.
Are there any frameworks that help build excel ui without VB? I dont mean framework like POI or JExcel that allows you to generate excel reports.

As of Silverlight 4 it is possible to data bind against a DependencyObject (instead of a Framework element in previous versions). So far so good, but how do I bind agains a collection of DependencyObjects.
The DataContext is not passed from the ObservableCollection to the collection elements, so that the DependencyProperties of the DependencyObjects are never called (neither the changed events). Neither the DependencyObject offers SetBinding or DataContext to initialize the binding manually.
Thanks for any advice here.
What is the best editor for Autohotkey with regards to syntax hightlighting, command completion (intellisense), testing etc.
I am doing a bit of Autohotkey programming, and being spoiled rotten by Visual Studio, I really miss these features - especially being new to the language/framework.
Hi there,
I am wanting to sync data between a sql 2008 db and some sql ce.
Its only a one way requirement so when data is updated in the main sql server the updates are sent to the ce databases.
Is this easy to setup with the sync framework. I was able to find a demo however I couldnt compile it
I want to capture the responseXML that i have built in my jsp.
What should I do.
after that i will transform it in html.
I know this is annoying and we could do it with a framework or a library like jquery but i realize it with ajax.
Also i have problems with jquery and jsp\servlet since i must use a JSON SERVICE.
Why it seems to me that is so complicated.
Hi there
I'm lookin for a javascript plugin (for js/any framework)

I've .NET framework 3.5 installed in my laptop. Just .NET alone, no Visual Studio. How can I run Java, Python, Ruby and Perl programs from the console? What are the commands used for running them?
Do I need to install something else also, for running these language files?
I'm trying to convert a PDF/DOC file into iphone application.
For PDF, I'm using CGPDFDocument class and its crashing the application after some time. After googling I found that there's a bug with that framework.
So, is there any alternative to using webview to show PDF/DOC files as an iphone application?
I just setup an out of the box "W2K8 R2 Web" server and installed IIS 7 out of the box. Then I installed the .NET4 framework and ran "aspnet_regiis -i" command.
I created a site using .NET 4.0 Integrated app pool.
I created an MVC application using the default MVC project template, without modifying I compiled the project and deploy the files using (Publish) to the virtual directory.
I can pull the site up, but the styles are missing from the page and for some reason it routing to the /Account/LogOn?ReturnUrl=/
Hi there,
I was wondering, is there a way to create a timestamp in c# from a datetime?
I need a millisecond precision value that also works in Compact Framework(saying that since DateTime.ToBinary() does not exist in CF).
My problem is that i want to store this value in a database agnostic way so i can sortby it later and find out which value is greater from another etc.
I'm running code that sometimes yields this:
UInt32 current;
int left, right;
...
//sometimes left == right and no shift occurs
current <<= (32 + left - right);
//this works
current <<= (32 - right);
current <<= left;
It appears for any value = 32, only the value % 32 is shifted. Is there some "optimization" occurring in the framework?
I always wondered why Microsoft chose such a strange, search-engine-unfriendly name for such a great platform. Couldn't they have come up with something better?
Apparently the codename was NGWS:
Microsoft started development on the
.NET Framework in the late 1990s
originally under the name of Next
Generation Windows Services (NGWS). [Wikipedia]
Does anyone know why they chose the name .NET?
Is it a good idea to learn JavaScript before learning a JavaScript framework library such as jQuery, Prototype, etc.?
Sometimes I find myself struggling because I feel I don't know JavaScript as well as I should.
It seems to me that jQuery doesn't seem to be written as an OOP framework, it seems too short, and not verbose enough for that. Am I right in thinking this and if it isn't written as OOP, then what methodology are they using?
Given the following class,
public class Result
{
public bool Success
{
get;
set;
}
public string Message
{
get;
set;
}
}
I am returning one of these in a Controller action like so,
return Json(new Result() { Success = true, Message = "test"})
However my client side framework expects these properties to be lowercase success and message. Without actually having to have lowercase property names is that a way to acheive this thought the normal Json function call?
I'm building a simple site that allows users to post text content and I want to add it to a search index as it gets posted, so my site search is up to date. From what I can tell Lucene.NET is a good full text search framework. I've found very few examples of how to use it though. Can anyone post some good references for learning about Lucene?
