• make programmer notepad default files as .txt?

  I am using http://www.pnotepad.org/ (i wouldnt mind switching to something else if it lightweight and has most/all features i like which i'll check on a app by app basis) When i create a new tab/file and save it unless i write .txt i get a file with no extention. Which makes it hard to open since i cant double click it (i dont think i can tell win7 to set a default app for files with no extension) How do i make pnotepad save with a .txt when non are specified?

• I killed my VPS with putting Firefox to reload the page after 1 second, now one of my domains is dead and gives a 504

  I have one domain on my VPS which I wanted to run a script a few hundred times on to simulate users, so I put a few Firefox tab on refresh every 1 second. Now that domain is dead, it just gives me a 504 every time I try to go to it, even though I restarted NGINX, PHP and I even shut the server on and off. All of my other sites on that VPS are Ok and running perfectly, just this one where I tried the reloading on. What can I do from here?

  The offending menu is the one immediately to the left of the Subject field when composing a new message, and it interrupts me as I try to tab from To: to Subject: to the message body. If you know of any way to be rid of it, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!

  It would be so useful, and not very difficult, because in fact I have Directory Opus installed (a very powerful windows explorer alternative) and it does exactly that, but only by double-clicking the desktop, not the taskbar. Similar options with middle-click would also be nice, such as scrolling the taskbar (maybe cycling directly through the Alt-Tab window). 7 Task Tweaker is close to this, actually, but it doesn't do what I would like.

• Safari address bar disappears all the time

  Hi guys, something that annoys me, the address bar on Safari keeps on disappearing when I quit and re-open Safari, on default. In fact, when I open a new tab it does the same. Not sure why it does it, i have tried customising toolbar and adding address bar there again.

  Just learned about the screen command on linux - it is genius. I love it. However, the actual terminal/prompt in screen looks and behaves differently than my standard bash prompt. That is, the colors aren't the same, tab completion doesn't seem to work, etc. Is there a way I can tell screen to behave just like a normal (at least, normal as in what I am used to) bash prompt ?

A closely related question from 2011: Are there any extensions or tricks to reopen several closed tabs in Safari Update Safari is now at 6.0.2: having the ability to re-open multiple closed tabs would still very much improve usability (i.e. not having to go searching the History).   I've got Chrome running on my Linux netbook, it's great and, unlike the Mac version, the 'Create Application Shortcut' option isn't greyed out. So I created one for Gmail. The 'applications' get stored at ~/.local/share/applications but I haven't managed to launch it yet. If I use Chrome in terminal $ google-chrome ~/.local/share/applications/google-application-reallylong-randomname.thing It opens the file in a new tab in Chrome and helpfully downloads it for me! Anyone got application shortcuts working in Linux?

  I have a program that is stuck under the task bar in Windows 7. I cannot click on it because (I think) the click is interpreted as being on the task bar and not on the program. How do I recover it? The program does not show up when I alt-tab through all of the programs. It also does not show up in Applications in the Task Manager.

• Why can I no longer pin tabs in Google Chrome?

  I am using the latest dev channel version of Chrome in Ubuntu 9.10. Before Chrome automatically updated a few days ago, I had the option to pin tabs. • KDE global hotkeys not working any more

  Since I installed to KDE 4.4.x I lost any "global accelerator" facility, including Alt-Tab, Alt-F1 and Ctrl-F1-F4 which of course renders the whole experience a lot… slower. Upgrading later to KDE 4.5.5 didn't help either. I'm running FreeBSD 8.1/amd64 and, as far as I can see, kglobalaccel is working: % qdbus org.kde.kglobalaccel /component/kwin org.kde.kglobalaccel.Component.isActive true Any idea what else I could check to debug the issue?

  How do I get tcsh to stop asking if I want to list files in a directory that may have a lot of auto-completes? For example, if I do: xemacs ../"TAB" to get the list of files it asks: There are 371 rows, list them anyway? [n/y] I don't want it to ask this, just list them.. it's getting tiresome.   We are setting up a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain. When we create a user within AD, the checkbox labeled "User cannot change password" in the Account tab is unchecked for every user we create. Can this be changed so for each user we create this is checked by default?

• How do I find a domain server on my client right away?

  This is a problem that I noticed. I have a Windows 2008 R2 Server and joined it to my windows 7 client. Now when I am trying to reach my "share" that i created in the Win2008 server, it does not show up at the Network tab in Windows 7. Instead, the only way I found it was to manually type in \\myserverlocation in the run prompt. Is there any way to find my share right way without doing this?
