  • How to randomly assign a partner?

    - by David
    I asked a question some time ago about creating a random circular partner assignment using php and mysql. This is a related issue. I am working from the following code to try to give two users new, randomly selected partners: $q = "SELECT user_id FROM users WHERE partner='$quit_partner' AND status='1'"; $r = mysqli_query ($dbc, $q) or trigger_error("Query: $q\n<br />MySQL Error: " . mysqli_error($dbc)); while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($r)) { $users[] = $row[0]; } $current = end($users); $partners = array(); foreach ($users as $user) { $partners[$user] = $current; $current = $user; $q = "UPDATE users SET partner='{$partners[$user]}' WHERE user_id='{$user}'"; mysqli_query ($dbc, $q) or trigger_error("Query: $q\n<br />MySQL Error: " . mysqli_error($dbc)); } Basically, a particular user (lets say user #4) quits the activity, leaving multiple other users without a partner (hypothetically, users # 5,6,7). I need to find out who those users are, hence the first query. Once I find them, I throw them into an array. Then comes the difficult part. I want those newly partnerless users (5,6,7) to be randomly assigned new partners from everyone in the table. The current code is flawed in that it only assigns the newly partnerless users eachother. Thanks for your help.

  • splice() not working on correctly

    - by adardesign
    I am setting a cookie for each navigation container that is clicked on. It sets an array that is joined and set the cookie value. if its clicked again then its removed from the array. It somehow buggy. It only splices after clicking on other elements. and then it behaves weird. It might be that splice is not the correct method Thanks much. var navLinkToOpen; var setNavCookie = function(value){ var isSet = false; var checkCookies = checkNavCookie() setCookieHelper = checkCookies? checkCookies.split(","): []; for(i in setCookieHelper){ if(value == setCookieHelper[i]){ setCookieHelper.splice(value,1); isSet = true; } } if(!isSet){setCookieHelper.push(value)} setCookieHelper.join(",") document.cookie = "navLinkToOpen"+"="+setCookieHelper; } var checkNavCookie = function(){ var allCookies = document.cookie.split( ';' ); for (i = 0; i < allCookies.length; i++ ){ temp = allCookies[i].split("=") if(temp[0].match("navLinkToOpen")){ var getValue = temp[1] } } return getValue || false } $(document).ready(function() { $("#LeftNav li").has("b").addClass("navHeader").not(":first").siblings("li").hide() $(".navHeader").click(function(){ $(this).toggleClass("collapsed").nextUntil("li:has('b')").slideToggle(300); setNavCookie($('.navHeader').index($(this))) return false }) var testCookies = checkNavCookie(); if(testCookies){ finalArrayValue = testCookies.split(",") for(i in finalArrayValue){ $(".navHeader").eq(finalArrayValue[i]).toggleClass("collapsed").nextUntil(".navHeader").slideToggle (0); } } });

  • Is there any well-known paradigm for iterating enum values?

    - by SadSido
    I have some C++ code, in which the following enum is declared: enum Some { Some_Alpha = 0, Some_Beta, Some_Gamma, Some_Total }; int array[Some_Total]; The values of Alpha, Beta and Gamma are sequential, and I gladly use the following cycle to iterate through them: for ( int someNo = (int)Some_Alpha; someNo < (int)Some_Total; ++someNo ) {} This cycle is ok, until I decide to change the order of the declarations in the enum, say, making Beta the first value and Alpha - the second one. That invalidates the cycle header, because now I have to iterate from Beta to Total. So, what are the best practices of iterating through enum? I want to iterate through all the values without changing the cycle headers every time. I can think of one solution: enum Some { Some_Start = -1, Some_Alpha, ... Some_Total }; int array[Some_Total]; and iterate from (Start + 1) to Total, but it seems ugly and I have never seen someone doing it in the code. Is there any well-known paradigm for iterating through the enum, or I just have to fix the order of the enum values? (let's pretend, I really have some awesome reasons for changing the order of the enum values)...

    i have posted similar problem here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2920315/permutation-of-array but i want following we know that with length n there is n! possible permutation from which one such that all element are in order they are in sorted variant so i want break permutation when array is in order and print result but something is wrong i think that problem is repeated of permutation here is my code import java.util.*; public class permut{ public static Random r=new Random(); public static void display(int a[],int n){ for (int i=0;i<n;i++){ System.out.println(a[i]); } } public static void Permut(int a[],int n){ int j=0; int k=0; while (j<fact(n)){ int s=r.nextInt(n); for (int i=0;i<n;i++){ k=a[i]; a[i]=a[s]; a[s]=k; } j++; if (sorted(a,n)) display(a,n); break; } } public static void main(String[]args){ int a[]=new int[]{3,4,1,2}; int n=a.length; Permut(a,n); } public static int fact(int n){ if (n==0 || (n==1) ) return 1; return n*fact(n-1); } public static boolean sorted(int a[],int n ){ boolean flag=false; for (int i=0;i<n-1;i++){ if (a[i]<a[i+1]){ flag=true; } else{ flag=false; } } return flag; } } can anybody help me? result is nothing

  • Custom punctuation function making script run over the php's 60s runtime limit

    - by webmasters
    I am importing allot of product data from an XML file (about 5000 products). When I run the script I can make it work in about 10-12 seconds. Now, when I add this punctuation function which makes sure each product description ends with a punctuation sign, the code runs until the php 60 seconds loadtime on my server but I'm not getting any errors. I have error reporting turned on. I just get a final error that the script could not load in 60 seconds. The question is, looking at this function, is it that resource consuming? What can I do to make it faster? function punctuation($string){ if(strlen($string) > 5){ // Get $last_char $desired_punctuation = array(".",",","?","!"); $last_char = substr($string, -1); // Check if $last_char is in the $desired_punctuation array if(!in_array($last_char, $desired_punctuation)){ // strip the $mytrim string and get only letters at the end; while(!preg_match("/^[a-zA-Z]$/", $last_char)){ $string = substr($string, 0, -1); $last_char = substr($string, -1); } // add "." to the string $string .= '.'; } } return $string; } If the function is ok, the long runtime must come from something else which I'll have to discover. I just want your input on this part.

  • Java: How do I implement a method that takes 2 arrays and returns 2 arrays?

    - by HansDampf
    Okay, here is what I want to do: I want to implement a crossover method for arrays. It is supposed to take 2 arrays of same size and return two new arrays that are a kind of mix of the two input arrays. as in [a,a,a,a] [b,b,b,b] ------ [a,a,b,b] [b,b,a,a]. Now I wonder what would be the suggested way to do that in Java, since I cannot return more than one value. My ideas are: - returning a Collection(or array) containing both new arrays. I dont really like that one because it think would result in a harder to understand code. - avoiding the need to return two results by calling the method for each case but only getting one of the results each time. I dont like that one either, because there would be no natural order about which solution should be returned. This would need to be specified, though resulting in harder to understand code. Plus, this will work only for this basic case, but I will want to shuffle the array before the crossover and reverse that afterwards. I cannot do the shuffling isolated from the crossover since I wont want to actually do the operation, instead I want to use the information about the permutation while doing the crossover, which will be a more efficient way I think.

  • Why is Dictionary.First() so slow?

    - by Rotsor
    Not a real question because I already found out the answer, but still interesting thing. I always thought that hash table is the fastest associative container if you hash properly. However, the following code is terribly slow. It executes only about 1 million iterations and takes more than 2 minutes of time on a Core 2 CPU. The code does the following: it maintains the collection todo of items it needs to process. At each iteration it takes an item from this collection (doesn't matter which item), deletes it, processes it if it wasn't processed (possibly adding more items to process), and repeats this until there are no items to process. The culprit seems to be the Dictionary.Keys.First() operation. The question is why is it slow? Stopwatch watch = new Stopwatch(); watch.Start(); HashSet<int> processed = new HashSet<int>(); Dictionary<int, int> todo = new Dictionary<int, int>(); todo.Add(1, 1); int iterations = 0; int limit = 500000; while (todo.Count > 0) { iterations++; var key = todo.Keys.First(); var value = todo[key]; todo.Remove(key); if (!processed.Contains(key)) { processed.Add(key); // process item here if (key < limit) { todo[key + 13] = value + 1; todo[key + 7] = value + 1; } // doesn't matter much how } } Console.WriteLine("Iterations: {0}; Time: {1}.", iterations, watch.Elapsed); This results in: Iterations: 923007; Time: 00:02:09.8414388. Simply changing Dictionary to SortedDictionary yields: Iterations: 499976; Time: 00:00:00.4451514. 300 times faster while having only 2 times less iterations. The same happens in java. Used HashMap instead of Dictionary and keySet().iterator().next() instead of Keys.First().

  • How to start x-axis labels(dates) from 0th position without using set_range(..)

    - by Rishi2686
    Hi there, First of all, I am really a newbie for flash charts. I have problem in using it. I am developing an app which gets values from database for chart. I have a line on chart, there are dates on x-axis starting from 0th position. I have dates 03-06-2010 and 05-06-2010 right now and may increase in future. When I set range of 1 month i.e 1st jun to 30th jun , it does not show lines but show values on y-axis. When I use range, i am not able to pass array of above two dates from database to chart, and viceversa. Here is my code-snippet can you give some hint. $x = new x_axis(); $x->set_range( mktime(0, 0, 0, 6, 1, date('Y')), // <-- min == 1st Jan, this year mktime(0, 0, 0, 6, 16, date('Y')) // <-- max == 31st Jan, this year ); $x->set_steps(86400); $labels = new x_axis_labels(); $labels->text('#date: jS, M Y#'); $labels->set_steps(86400); $labels->visible_steps(1); $labels->rotate(90); //$labels->set_labels($data_4); // date_4 is array of database values $x->set_labels($labels);

  • Parallelize or vectorize all-against-all operation on a large number of matrices?

    - by reve_etrange
    I have approximately 5,000 matrices with the same number of rows and varying numbers of columns (20 x ~200). Each of these matrices must be compared against every other in a dynamic programming algorithm. In this question, I asked how to perform the comparison quickly and was given an excellent answer involving a 2D convolution. Serially, iteratively applying that method, like so list = who('data_matrix_prefix*') H = cell(numel(list),numel(list)); for i=1:numel(list) for j=1:numel(list) if i ~= j eval([ 'H{i,j} = compare(' char(list(i)) ',' char(list(j)) ');']); end end end is fast for small subsets of the data (e.g. for 9 matrices, 9*9 - 9 = 72 calls are made in ~1 s). However, operating on all the data requires almost 25 million calls. I have also tried using deal() to make a cell array composed entirely of the next element in data, so I could use cellfun() in a single loop: # who(), load() and struct2cell() calls place k data matrices in a 1D cell array called data. nextData = cell(k,1); for i=1:k [nextData{:}] = deal(data{i}); H{:,i} = cellfun(@compare,data,nextData,'UniformOutput',false); end Unfortunately, this is not really any faster, because all the time is in compare(). Both of these code examples seem ill-suited for parallelization. I'm having trouble figuring out how to make my variables sliced. compare() is totally vectorized; it uses matrix multiplication and conv2() exclusively (I am under the impression that all of these operations, including the cellfun(), should be multithreaded in MATLAB?). Does anyone see a (explicitly) parallelized solution or better vectorization of the problem?

  • Java: How ArrayList memory management

    - by cka3o4nik
    In my Data Structures class we have studies the Java ArrayList class, and how it grows the underlying array when a user adds more elements. That is understood. However, I cannot figure out how exactly this class frees up memory when lots of elements are removed from the list. Looking at the source, there are three methods that remove elements: [code] public E remove(int index) { RangeCheck(index); modCount++; E oldValue = (E) elementData[index]; int numMoved = size - index - 1; if (numMoved 0) System.arraycopy(elementData, index+1, elementData, index, numMoved); elementData[--size] = null; // Let gc do its work return oldValue; } public boolean remove(Object o) { if (o == null) { for (int index = 0; index < size; index++) if (elementData[index] == null) { fastRemove(index); return true; } } else { for (int index = 0; index < size; index++) if (o.equals(elementData[index])) { fastRemove(index); return true; } } return false; } private void fastRemove(int index) { modCount++; int numMoved = size - index - 1; if (numMoved 0) System.arraycopy(elementData, index+1, elementData, index, numMoved); elementData[--size] = null; // Let gc do its work } {/code] None of them reduce the datastore array. I even started questioning if memory free up ever happens, but empirical tests show that it does. So there must be some other way it is done, but where and how? I checked the parent classes as well with no success.

  • C# xml serializer - serialize derived objects

    - by gln
    Hi, I want to serialize the following: [Serializable] [DefaultPropertyAttribute("Name")] [XmlInclude(typeof(ItemInfo))] [XmlInclude(typeof(ItemInfoA))] [XmlInclude(typeof(ItemInfoB))] public class ItemInfo { private string name; [XmlArray("Items"), XmlArrayItem(typeof(ItemInfo))] private ArrayList arr; private ItemInfo parentItemInfo; } [Serializable] [XmlInclude(typeof(ItemInfo))] [XmlInclude(typeof(ItemInfoA))] [XmlInclude(typeof(ItemInfoB))] public class ItemInfoA : ItemInfo { ... } [Serializable] [XmlInclude(typeof(ItemInfo))] [XmlInclude(typeof(ItemInfoA))] [XmlInclude(typeof(ItemInfoB))] public class ItemInfoB : ItemInfo { ... } The class itemInfo describes a container which can hold other itemInfo objects in the array list, the parentItemInfo describes which is the parent container of the item info. Since ItemInfoA and ItemInfoB derive from ItemInfo they can also be a member of the array list and the parentItemInfo, therefore when trying to serialize these objects (which can hold many objects in hierarchy) it fails with exception can't generate the xml file - innerexception. My question is: What attributes do I need to add the ItemInfo class so it will be serializable? Note: the exception is only when the ItemInfo[A]/[B] are initialized with parentItemInfo or the arrayList. Help please! Thanks!

  • getline with ints C++

    - by Mdjon26
    I have a file 0 3 2 1 2 3 4 5 6 6 8 1 Where the first number for each line is the row, the second number is the column, and the third number is the data contained in that row, column. This will be a given [8][8] array so I have already initialized everything to 0, but how can I store each of these data values? For example, I want [0][3] =2 and [1][2] = 3. I would like to keep track of the line on which I found that row, col, and data value. So, how can I correctly insert these values into my 2-D array? int rowcol[8][8]; for (int i=0; i < 9; i++) for (int j=0; j < 9; j++) { rowcol[i][j] =0; } ifstream myfile; int nums; myfile.open(text.c_str()); while (!myfile.eof()) { myfile >> nums; numbers.push_back(nums); } for (int i=0; i < numbers.size(); i++) { //Not sure what the best approach here would be and I'm not even sure if I should have done a vector... }

  • Compression Program in C

    - by Delandilon
    I want to compress a series of characters. For example if i type Input : FFFFFBBBBBBBCCBBBAABBGGGGGSSS (27 x 8 bits = 216 bits) Output: F5B7C2B3A2B2G5S3 (14 x 8 bits = 112bits) So far this is what i have, i can count the number of Characters in the Array. But the most important task is to count them in the same sequence. I can't seem to figure that out :( Ive stared doing C just a few weeks back, i have knowledge on Array, pointers, ASCII value but in any case can't seem to count these characters in a sequence. Ive try a bit of everything. This approach is no good but it the closest i came to it. #include <stdio.h> #include <conio.h> int main() { int charcnt=0,dotcnt=0,commacnt=0,blankcnt=0,i, countA, countB; char str[125]; printf("*****String Manipulations*****\n\n"); printf("Enter a string\n\n"); scanf("%[^'\n']s",str); printf("\n\nEntered String is \" %s \" \n",str); for(i=0;str[i]!='\0';i++) { // COUNTING EXCEPTION CHARS if(str[i]==' ') blankcnt++; if(str[i]=='.') dotcnt++; if(str[i]==',') commacnt++; if (str[i]=='A' || str[i]=='a') countA++; if (str[i]=='B' || str[i]=='b') countA++; } //PRINT RESULT OF COUNT charcnt=i; printf("\n\nTotal Characters : %d",charcnt); printf("\nTotal Blanks : %d",blankcnt); printf("\nTotal Full stops : %d",dotcnt); printf("\nTotal Commas : %d\n\n",commacnt); printf("A%d\n", countA); }

  • Memory Leaks in pickerView using sqlite

    - by Danamo
    I'm adding self.notes array to a pickerView. This is how I'm setting the array: NSMutableArray *notesArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [notesArray addObject:@"-"]; [notesArray addObjectsFromArray:[dbManager getTableValues:@"Notes"]]; self.notes = notesArray; [notesArray release]; The info for the pickerView is taken from the database in this method: -(NSMutableArray *)getTableValues:(NSString *)table { NSMutableArray *valuesArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; if (sqlite3_open([self.databasePath UTF8String], &database) != SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_close(database); NSAssert(0, @"Failed to open database"); } else { NSString *query = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"SELECT value FROM %@", table]; sqlite3_stmt *statement; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, [query UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { NSString *value =[NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(statement, 0)]; [valuesArray addObject:value]; [value release]; } sqlite3_reset(statement); } [query release]; sqlite3_finalize(statement); sqlite3_close(database); } return valuesArray; } But I keep getting memory leaks in Instruments for these lines: NSMutableArray *valuesArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; and [valuesArray addObject:value]; What am I doing wrong here? Thanks for your help!

  • Please Describe Your Struggles with Minimizing Use of Global Variables

    - by MetaHyperBolic
    Most of the programs I write are relatively flowchartable processes, with a defined start and hoped-for end. The problems themselves can be complex but do not readily lean towards central use of objects and event-driven programming. Often, I am simply churning through great varied batches of text data to produce different text data. Only occasionally do I need to create a class: As an example, to track warnings, errors, and debugging message, I created a class (Problems) with one instantiation (myErr), which I believe to be an example of the Singleton design pattern. As a further factor, my colleagues are more old school (procedural) than I and are unacquainted with object-oriented programming, so I am loath to create things they could not puzzle through. And yet I hear, again and again, how even the Singleton design pattern is really an anti-pattern and ought to be avoided because Global Variables Are Bad. Minor functions need few arguments passed to them and have no need to know of configuration (unchanging) or program state (changing) -- I agree. However, the functions in the middle of the chain, which primarily control program flow, have a need for a large number of configuration variables and some program state variables. I believe passing a dozen or more arguments along to a function is a "solution," but hardly an attractive one. I could, of course, cram variables into a single hash/dict/associative array, but that seems like cheating. For instance, connecting to the Active Directory to make a new account, I need such configuration variables as an administrative username, password, a target OU, some default groups, a domain, etc. I would have to pass those arguments down through a variety of functions which would not even use them, merely shuffle them off down through a chain which would eventually lead to the function that actually needs them. I would at least declare the configuration variables to be constant, to protect them, but my language of choice these days (Python) provides no simple manner to do this, though recipes do exist as workarounds. Numerous Stack Overflow questions have hit on the why? of the badness and the requisite shunning, but do not often mention tips on living with this quasi-religious restriction. How have you resolved, or at least made peace with, the issue of global variables and program state? Where have you made compromises? What have your tricks been, aside from shoving around flocks of arguments to functions?

  • Zend Metadata Cache in file

    - by Matthieu
    I set up a metadata cache in Zend Framework because a lot of DESCRIBE queries were executed and it affected the performances. $frontendOptions = array ('automatic_serialization' => true); $backendOptions = array ('cache_dir' => CACHE_PATH . '/db-tables-metadata'); $cache = Zend_Cache::factory( 'Core', 'File', $frontendOptions, $backendOptions ); Zend_Db_Table::setDefaultMetadataCache($cache); I can indeed see the cache files created, and the website works great. However, when I launch unit tests, or a script of the same application that perform DB queries, I end up with an error because Zend couldn't read the cache files. This is because in the website, the cache files are created by the www user, and when I run phpunit or a script, it tries to read them with my user and it fails. Do you see any solution to that? I have some quickfix ideas but I'm looking for a good/stable solution. And I'd rather avoid running phpunit or the scripts as www if possible (for practical reasons).

  • retrieve only sub-pages (wordpress)

    I want to list all sub-pages only one level though of one particular page. I was reading Function Reference/get pages and thought that $pages = get_pages( array( 'child_of' => $post->ID, 'parent' => $post->ID)) ; will do the trick but it is not working. It lists all pages on the same level like the page I call that code from. If I omit parent option I will get all pages even with sub-pages that I want. But I want only sub-pages. The whole function is like function about_menu(){ if (is_page('about')){ $pages = get_pages( array( 'child_of' => $post->ID, 'parent' => $post->ID)) ; foreach($pages as $page) { ?> <h2><a href="<?php echo get_page_link($page->ID) ?>"><?php echo $page->post_title ?></a></h2> <?php } } } and mine is second one

  • UITableView populating EVERY OTHER launch

    - by Joshmattvander
    I am having a problem that I cant seem to get to the bottom of. In my view did load code, I am creating an array and attempting to populate the table. For some reason it only populates the data on EVERY OTHER time the app is run. I put logs in viewDidLoad which runs as does viewWillAppear and outputs the correct count for the array. Also, the UITableView specicic methods get called when it works and they just don't get called when it doesnt work. I cant figure out the root of this problem. Again this occurrence happens exactly 50% of the time. Theres no dynamic data that could be tripping up or anything. #import "InfoViewController.h" @implementation InfoViewController - (void)viewDidLoad { NSLog(@"Info View Loaded"); // This runs infoList = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; //Set The Data //Theres 8 similar lines [infoList addObject :[[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys: @"Scrubbed", @"name", @"scrubbed", @"url", nil]]; NSLog(@"%d", [infoList count]); // This shows the count correctly every time [super viewDidLoad]; } -(void) viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { NSLog(@"Info Will Appear"); // This Runs } - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { // This WILL NOT RUN when it doesnt work, and DOES show the count when it does run NSLog(@"Counted in numberOfRowsInSection %d", [infoList count]); return [infoList count]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSLog(@"ROW"); static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"infoCell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; cell.textLabel.text = [[infoList objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] objectForKey:@"name"]; return cell; } @end

  • Win conditions for a connect-4 like game

    - by FrozenWasteland
    I have an 5x10 array that is populated with random values 1-5. I want to be able to check when 3 numbers, either horizontally, or vertically, match. I can't figure out a way to do this without writing a ton of if statements. Here is the code for the randomly populated array int i; int rowincrement = 10; int row = 0; int col = 5; int board[10][5]; int randomnum = 5; int main(int argc, char * argv[]) { srand(time(NULL)); cout << "============\n"; while(row < rowincrement) { for(i = 0; i < 5; i++) { board[row][col] = rand()%5 + 1; cout << board[row][col] << " "; } cout << endl; cout << "============\n"; row++; } cout << endl; return 0; }

  • lightbox dynamic image retrieval

    - by GSTAR
    I am constructing a lighbox gallery, currently experimenting with FancyBox (http://fancybox.net) and ColorBox (http://colorpowered.com/colorbox). By default you have to include a link to the large version of the image so that the Lightbox can display it. However, I am wanting to have the image link URLs pointing to a script rather than directly to the image file. So for example, instead of: <a href="mysite/images/myimage.jpg"> I want to do: <a href="mysite/photos/view/abc123"> The above URL points to a function: public function actionPhotos($view) { $photo=Photo::model()->find('name=:name', array(':name'=>$view)); if(!empty($photo)) { $user=$photo->user; $this->renderPartial('_photo', array('user'=>$user, 'photo'=>$photo, true)); } } At some point in the future the function will also update the view count of the image. Now this approach is working to an extent - most images load up but some do not load up (the lightbox gets displayed in a malformed state). I think the reason for this is because it is not processing the function quick enough. For example when I click the "next" button it needs to go to the URL, process the function and retreive/output the response. Does anybody know how I can get this working properly?

  • matching images inside a link in regex

    - by user225269
    What is wrong with regex pattern that I created: $link_image_pattern = '/\<a\shref="([^"]*)"\>\<img\s.+\><\/a\>/'; preg_match_all($link_image_pattern, $str, $link_images); What I'm trying to do is to match all the links which has images inside of them. But when I try to output $link_images it contains everything inside the first index: <pre> <?php print_r($link_images); ?> </pre> The markup looks something like this: Array ( [0] = Array ([0] = " <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><a href="url">Title</a></strong></p> <p>Desc</p> <p><a href="{$image_url2}"><img style="background-image:none;padding-left:0;padding-right:0;display:inline;padding-top:0;border-width:0;" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="{$image_url2}" width="569" height="409"></a></p> But when outputting the contents of the matches, it simply returns the first string that matches the pattern plus all the other markup in the page like this: <a href="{$image_url}"><img style="background-image:none;padding-left:0;padding-right:0;display:inline;padding-top:0;border-width:0;" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="{$image_url}" width="568" height="347"></a></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><a href="url">Title</a></strong></p> <p>Desc</p> <p><a href="{$image_url2}"><img style="background-image:none;padding-left:0;padding-right:0;display:inline;padding-top:0;border-width:0;" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="{$image_url2}" width="569" height="409"></a></p>")

  • retaining the form inputs on clicking the submit button

    - by sushant
    i have a form. the code is: <html> <body> <form method="post" action="array.asp"> <input type="text" name="Req_id1"> Req_id: <input type="text" name="Req_id"> <input type="submit" value="search" id=submit1 name=submit1> <select id="selFiles" name="selFiles" class="Select" style="width: 500px" tabindex="130"> <% Dim req_id,myArray(11) req_id=Request.Form("Req_id") myArray(0) = "FCC_CITI_LONDON\FCC_V.FM_Release_5.0" myArray(1) = "FCC_CITIUSDDA\FC_UBS_V.UM_10.3.0.0.CitiUSDDA1.0" myArray(2) = "FCC_KorAm\Flexcube_V.CK_Release_5.0" myArray(3) = "FCC-CL\FCC-CL.1.1.1" myArray(4) = "Mayaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" myArray(5) = "Juneaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" myArray(6) = "Julyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" myArray(7) = "Augustaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" myArray(8) = "Septemberaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" myArray(9) = "Octoberaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" myArray(10) = "Novemberaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" myArray(11) = "Decemberaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" Dim myArrResult myArrResult = Filter(myArray, req_id, True, vbTextCompare) Dim item For Each item In myArrResult Response.Write("<option>" + item + "</option>") Next %> </select> </body> </html> in between the form there is an opption to search a string from the array. on clicking submit the result are shown in the drop-down box. but the problem is that i loose all the input entered in the form before. for ex:the first input box goes blank. how do i retain the previous inputs? any help is really appreciated.

  • OpenType Font Parsing for Pleasure and Profit (anyone understand these damn tables?)

    - by mustISignUp
    So, this is mainly for fun, I'm poking around and trying to find my way inside a few fonts and i have a few questions i'd reeally appreciate some help on if anyone has done this kind of stuff. cmap table The fonts i am testing with contain several cmap subtables of different formats. I can read them, but i don't understand which i should be using. ie. what is the strategy for choosing the most appropriate subtable? Does this even make sense? glyf table This is really making my head hurt. I'm going by what is on here. Looking at the second table on that page.. I've got 'n' endPtsOfContours, 'n' instructions and 'n' flags but it is not clear to me if i have the same number of flags as contours (i know how many contours i have). Then, to make matters worse..(fun!) i have an array of xCoords and an array of yCoords. These arrays seem to be of indeterminate length and may contain data of either BYTE or SHORT but we are not going to tell you which.. Thanks to anyone willing to shed some light.
