Being arr the array, I used just to write: puts arr Then I needed to use the DOS format end-of-line: \r\n, so I wrote: arr.each { |e| print "#{e}\r\n" } This works correctly, but I would like to know if there is a way to specify what end-of-line format to use so that I could write something like: $eol = "\r\n" puts arr UPDATE I know that puts will use the correct line-endings depending on the platform it is run on, but I need this because I will write the output to a file.

  • MySQL Order By Problem, Why is 1000 being seen as Smaller than 2?

    I have a strange problem, I am trying to order the output of a set of records by a field called displayOrder. Now even though record A has a displayOrder of 2 and record B has a displayOrder of 1000, record B still shows up before record A. Here's my select statement: SELECT * FROM items ORDER BY displayOrder ASC It works fine until I have a record greater than 9, then 10, 11, 12, etc are seen as smaller than 2, 3, 4 because they start with the number 1. Any way to fox this?

    Heya, I'm fetching a page using ajax (jquery) and appending certain data to the Requests query string to let the server know it shouldn't render the entire Page, just the view in question to the output buffer. I'm having no luck though, I can detect when the page needs to be rendered partially, but everything I've tried so far (including stuff like return PartialView()) isn't working. Any ideas?     In a perl script, I'm trying to accept input without blocking and without echoing the characters entered (The script is producing output and I want to have 'hotkeys' to alter its behaviour). I got as far as using use Term::ReadKey; ReadMode( "cbreak", STDIN ); if($input = ReadKey($pause_time, STDIN)){ #process input } But once the user types anything then the script stops until a newline is entered. I'd like the input to be processed per-character, without waiting for a newline.

  • How do I remove database name from SQL Server generated script?

    Anytime I use 'script table as' - 'Insert To' (or other command), the script generated automatically places the database name in the script. Such as: INSERT INTO [DatabaseName].[dbo].[tblToBeInserted] ... While not a huge problem to just delete it, it has slipped by a few times and the script breaks if run on a different server with a different database name but has the same schema. (Such as running on [DatabaseName.Test]) Is there an option I can change, or can I modify the output in any way to remove this?
