  • Global Timer in Javascript with Multiple Callbacks

    - by Mike Beepo
I want to create a global timer object in javascript and then be able to add callbacks to it on the fly. This way I can just use one global timer in my script to execute all actions at a certain interval rather than wasting resources by using multiples. This is how I want to be able to piece things together: var timer = new function() { clearInterval( this.interval ); //[1] At this point I want the Callbacks to be run var self = this; setTimeout(function() {self.timer()}, 200); } function otherObject = new function() { //When created I want to bind my object's function called cb to the global timer at [1] } otherObject.prototype.cb = function() { //Stuff that should be done every time the timer is run } var someObject = new otherObject(); How would I make it possible bind any number functions (most of which are functions within other objects) to run at the interval of my timer on the fly?

  • Populating an association with children in factory_girl

    - by Craig Walker
I have a model Foo that has_many 'Bar'. I have a factory_girl factory for each of these objects. The factory for Bar has an association to Foo; it will instantiate a Foo when it creates the Bar. I'd like a Factory that creates a Foo that contains a Bar. Ideally this Bar would be created through the :bar factory, and respect the build strategy (create/build) used to create the Foo. I know I could just call the :bar factory and then grab the Foo reference from the new Bar. I'd like to avoid this; in my test case, the important object is Foo; calling the Bar factory seems a bit circuitous. Also, I can see the need for a Foo with multiple Bars. Is this possible in factory_girl? How do you define this relationship in the parent?

  • Using a UIPickerView to make a CoreData Relationship

    - by DVG
Okay, so I have a fairly simple application set up. I have two different CoreData Entities, Games and Platforms, each have one attribute: name, and they have a one-to-many relationship between them. Platforms are populated on the first launch of the application, and will never change as a result of user input. I'm working on my Add view to let the user add new games to their personal database, and each game should select from a platform. The add view itself is a grouped table view with static custom cells. Tapping the platform cell should advance the user to another view to select the platform. My thought is that UIPickerView seems like a logical choice for the control, since the Platform list is static, but I'm not sure how to use it with CoreData. Even if I construct a fetch request to get the Platform objects and extract the strings out, how do I go about linking the new Game object to the original Platform object?

  • Follow up viewDidUnload vs. dealloc question...

    - by entaroadun
Clarification question as a follow up to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2261972/what-exactly-must-i-do-in-viewdidunload http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1158788/when-should-i-release-objects-in-voidviewdidunload-rather-than-in-dealloc So let's say there's a low memory error, and the view is hidden, and viewDidUnload is called. We do the release and nil dance. Later the entire view stack is not needed, so dealloc is called. Since I already have the release and nil stuff in viewDidUnload, I don't have it in dealloc. Perfect. But if there's no low memory error, viewDidUnload is never called. dealloc is called and since I don't have the release and nil stuff, there's a memory leak. In other words, will dealloc ever be called without viewDidUnload being called first? And the practical follow up to that is, if I alloc and set something in viewDidLoad, and I release it and set to nil in viewDidUnload, do I leave it out of dealloc, or do I do a defensive nil check in dealloc and release/nil it if it's not nil?

  • PhysX Question about Raycasting - Setting the shape masks

    - by sweet tv
I am trying to make the raycast give me the distance of the terrain and nothing else. But I'm not sure how to use the group Mask Filter. virtual NxShape* raycastClosestShape (const NxRay& worldRay, NxShapesType shapeType, NxRaycastHit& hit, NxU32 groups=0xffffffff, NxReal maxDist=NX_MAX_F32, NxU32 hintFlags=0xffffffff, const NxGroupsMask* groupsMask=NULL, NxShape** cache=NULL) const = 0; \param[in] groups Mask used to filter shape objects. Let's say my terrain is set in group 1. How would I use the function above?

  • Exporting info from PS script to csv

    - by George
Hi, This is a powershell/AD/Exchange question.... I'm running a script against a number of Users to check some of their attributes however I'm having trouble getting this to output to CSV. The script runs well and does exactly what I need it to do, the output on screen is fine, I'm just having trouble getting it to directly export to csv. The input is a comma seperated txt file of usernames (eg "username1,username2,username3") I've experimented with creating custom ps objects, adding to them and then exporting those but its not working.... Any suggestions gratefully received.. Thanks George $array = Get-Content $InputPath #split the comma delimited string into an array $arrayb = $array.Split(","); foreach ($User in $arrayb) { #find group memebership Write-Host "AD group membership for $User" Get-QADMemberOf $User #Get Mailbox Info Write-Host "Mailbox info for $User" Get-Mailbox $User | select ServerName, Database, EmailAddresses, PrimarySmtpAddress, WindowsEmailAddress #get profile details Write-Host "Home drive info for $User" Get-QADUser $User| select HomeDirectory,HomeDrive #add space between users Write-Host "" Write-Host "******************************************************" } Write-Host "End Script"

  • Is there a faster alternative to using textures in XNA?

    - by Matthew Bowen
I am writing a map editing program for a 2D game using XNA. To create a Texture2D for all of the tiles that a map requires takes too long. Are there any alternatives to using textures for drawing with XNA? I attempted to create just one texture per tile set instead of a texture for every tile in a tile set, but there is a limit to the size of textures and I could not fit all the tiles of a tile set into one texture. Currently the program contains all the would-be textures in memory as Bitmap objects. Is there a way to simply draw a Bitmap object to the screen in XNA? I have searched but I cannot find any information on this. This approach would avoid having to create textures altogether, however any tinting or effects I would have to do to the bitmap directly. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

  • Accessing a dictionary value by custom object value in Python?

    - by Sam
So I have a square that's made up of a series of points. At every point there is a corresponding value. What I want to do is build a dictionary like this: class Point: def __init__(self, x, y): self._x = x self._y = y square = {} for x in range(0, 5): for y in range(0, 5): point = Point(x,y) square[point] = None However, if I later create a new point object and try to access the value of the dictionary with the key of that point it doesn't work.. square[Point(2,2)] Traceback (most recent call last): File "<pyshell#19>", line 1, in <module> square[Point(2,2)] KeyError: <__main__.Point instance at 0x02E6C378> I'm guessing that this is because python doesn't consider two objects with the same properties to be the same object? Is there any way around this? Thanks

  • ASP.NET - How to add a label to a RadioButtonList ListItem?

    - by EWizard
I have a RadioButtonList with two ListItems included: <asp:RadioButtonList runat="server" ID="optRollover" OnSelectedIndexChanged="RolloverOptionSelected" AutoPostBack="true"> <asp:ListItem Value="0">100% </asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="1">Less than 100%</asp:ListItem> </asp:RadioButtonList><br /> On the first ListItem I need to have a label that displays some text from the code behind of the page. Logically it seems to me like I would be able to do something like this: 100% Obviously this does not work because I am getting an error: The 'Text' property of 'asp:ListItem' does not allow child objects. Can anyone think of a way around this constraint?

  • How to add text to path?

    - by Pritorian
Hi all. Te question is how to add text to path element. For example, I have path: Path firstPath = new Path(); firstPath.Stroke = Brushes.Black; firstPath.StrokeThickness = 1; myCanvas.Children.Add(firstPath); LineGeometry firstLine = new LineGeometry(); firstPath.Data = firstLine; And somewhere I define line's Start and End point's. The path is binded to controls (for example - two ellipses) and when I drag one of them, the line is dynamically resized and moved to be pinned to both objects. And now I wand to add some text, that would fit to this line and follow it. Any recommendations how to do this?

  • C#/Resharper 5 structural search, detect and warn if any non-virtual public methods on classes with

    - by chillitom
Hi All, I'm using LinFu's dynamic proxy to add some advice to some classes. The problem is that the proxied objects can only intercept virtual methods and will return the return type's default value for non-virtual methods. I can tell whether a class is proxied or not based whether the class or any of it's method has an interception attribute, e.g. [Transaction] Is it possible to write a ReSharper 5 structural search that would warn if any non-virtual public methods are defined on a class with an interception attribute. E.g. Ok public class InterceptedClass { [Transaction] public virtual void TransactionalMethod() { ... } public virtual void AnotherMethod() { ... } } Bad public class InterceptedClass { [Transaction] public virtual void TransactionalMethod() { ... } public void AnotherMethod() // non-virtual method will not be called by proxy { ... } } Many Thanks.

  • How can I limit access to a particular class to one caller at a time in an ASMX web service?

    - by MusiGenesis
I have a web service method in which I create a particular type of object, use it for a few seconds, and then dispose it. Because of problems arising from multiple threads creating and using instances of this class at the same time, I need to restrict the method so that only one caller at a time ever has one of these objects. To do this, I am creating a private static object: private static object _lock = new object(); ... and then inside the web service method I do this around the critical code: lock (_lock) { using (DangerousObject do = new DangerousObject()) { do.MakeABigMess(); do.CleanItUp(); } } I'm not sure this is working, though. Do I have this right? Will this code ensure that only one instance of DangerousObject is instantiated and in use at a time? Or does each caller get their own copy of _lock, rendering my code here laughable?

  • How to print non-ASCII characters in Python

    - by Roman
I have a problem when I'm printing (or writing to a file) the non-ASCII characters in Python. I've resolved it by overriding the str method in my own objects, and making "x.encode('utf-8')" inside it, where x is a property inside the object. But, if I receive a third-party object, and I make "str(object)", and this object has a non-ASCII character inside, it will fail. So the question is: is there any way to tell the str method that the object has an UTF-8 codification, generically? I'm working with Python 2.5.4.

  • SCons: How to use the same builders for multiple variants (release/debug) of a program

    - by OK
The SCons User Guide tells about the usage of Multiple Construction Environments to build build multiple versions of a single program and gives the following example: opt = Environment(CCFLAGS = '-O2') dbg = Environment(CCFLAGS = '-g') o = opt.Object('foo-opt', 'foo.c') opt.Program(o) d = dbg.Object('foo-dbg', 'foo.c') dbg.Program(d) Instead of manually assigning different names to the objects compiled with different environments, VariantDir() / variant_dir sounds like a better solution... But if I place the Program() builder inside the SConscript: Import('env') env.Program('foo.c') How can I export different environments to the same SConscript file? opt = Environment(CCFLAGS = '-O2') dbg = Environment(CCFLAGS = '-g') SConscript('SConscript', 'opt', variant_dir='release') #'opt' --> 'env'??? SConscript('SConscript', 'dbg', variant_dir='debug') #'dbg' --> 'env'??? Unfortunately the discussion in the SCons Wiki does not bring more insight to this topic. Thanks for your input!

  • MVC DateTime binding with incorrect date format

    - by Sam Wessel
Asp.net-MVC now allows for implicit binding of DateTime objects. I have an action along the lines of public ActionResult DoSomething(DateTime startDate) { ... } This successfully converts a string from an ajax call into a DateTime. However, we use the date format dd/MM/yyyy; MVC is converting to MM/dd/yyyy. For example, submitting a call to the action with a string '09/02/2009' results in a DateTime of '02/09/2009 00:00:00', or September 2nd in our local settings. I don't want to roll my own model binder for the sake of a date format. But it seems needless to have to change the action to accept a string and then use DateTime.Parse if MVC is capable of doing this for me. Is there any way to alter the date format used in the default model binder for DateTime? Shouldn't the default model binder use your localisation settings anyway?

  • Objective PHP and key value coding

    - by Lukasz
Hi Guys. In some part of my code I need something like this: $product_type = $product->type; $price_field = 'field_'.$product_type.'_price'; $price = $product->$$price_field; In other words I need kind of KVC - means get object field by field name produced at the runtime. I simply need to extend some existing system and keep field naming convention so do not advice me to change field names instead. I know something like this works for arrays, when you could easily do that by: $price = $product[$price_field_key]. So I can produce key for array dynamically. But how to do that for objects? Please help me as google gives me river of results for arrays, etc... Thank you

  • Simple object creation with DIY-DI?

    - by Runcible
I recently ran across this great article by Chad Perry entitled "DIY-DI" or "Do-It-Yourself Dependency Injection". I'm in a position where I'm not yet ready to use a IoC framework, but I want to head in that direction. It seems like DIY-DI is a good first step. However, after reading the article, I'm still a little confused about object creation. Here's a simple example: Using manual constructor dependency injection (not DIY-DI), this is how one must construct a Hotel object: PowerGrid powerGrid; // only one in the entire application WaterSupply waterSupply; // only one in the entire application Staff staff; Rooms rooms; Hotel hotel(staff, rooms, powerGrid, waterSupply); Creating all of these dependency objects makes it difficult to construct the Hotel object in isolation, which means that writing unit tests for Hotel will be difficult. Does using DIY-DI make it easier? What advantage does DIY-DI provide over manual constructor dependency injection?

  • Algorithm to aggregate values from child tree nodes

    - by user222164
    I have objects in a tree structure, I would like to aggregate status information from children nodes and update parent node with aggregated status. Lets say node A has children B1, B2, and B1 has C1, C2, C3 as children. Each of the nodes have a status attribute. Now if C1, C2, C3 are all complete then I would like to mark B1 as completed. And if C4, C5,C6,C7 are complete make B2 as complete. When B1 and B2 are both complete mark A as complete. I can go through these nodes in brute force method and make updates, could someone suggest an efficient algorithm to do it. A { B1 { C1, C2, C3}, B2 { C4, C5, C6, C7} }

  • UILocalNotification crash

Hi everyone, could you please help me ? I'm setting up an UILocalNotification and It crashes when I try to set its userInfo dictionary. My dictionary is not empty (It contains 88 objects). Here is the code : NSDictionary* myUserInfo = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject: fetchedObjects forKey: @"textbody"]; UILocalNotification *localNotif = [[UILocalNotification alloc] init]; if (localNotif == nil) return; // défining the interval NSTimeInterval oneMinute = 60; localNotif.timeZone = [NSTimeZone localTimeZone]; NSDate *fireDate = [[NSDate alloc]initWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:oneMinute]; localNotif.fireDate = fireDate; localNotif.userInfo = myUserInfo; [fetchedObjects release]; and the console gives me this : Property list invalid for format: 200 *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'unable to serialize userInfo: (null)' Any idea ?

  • Using TortoiseHg to push to an authenticated git repository

    - by Nathan Palmer
I'm trying to push a changeset from a local Mercurial repository created with TortoiseHg to a remote Git repository. I have hg-git installed and configured and it will pull just fine. But when I run the push it gives me this Command hg push git+ssh://git@dummyrepo:username/repo.git Result pushing to git+ssh://git@dummyrepo:username/repo.git importing Hg objects into Git creating and sending data abort: the remote end hung up unexpectedly There are several things I've done to get to this point. But I'm hoping to resolve this last thing because I find TortoiseHg to be much easier to work with than any of the Git tools out there (for windows.) Installed TortoiseHg Pulled down the hg-git from http://bitbucket.org/durin42/hg-git/ Configured mercurial.ini to point to the hg-git library Pulled down dulwich source from git://git.samba.org/jelmer/dulwich.git Compiled dulwich and put it into library.zip for TortoiseHg Configured TortoiseHg to use TortoisePlink.exe for ssh Added my private key to Pageant Any ideas what I could be missing?

  • How can I create a MethodInfo from an Action delegate

    - by Michael Meadows
I am trying to develop an NUnit addin that dynamically adds test methods to a suite from an object that contains a list of Action delegates. The problem is that NUnit appears to be leaning heavily on reflection to get the job done. Consequently, it looks like there's no simple way to add my Actions directly to the suite. I must, instead, add MethodInfo objects. This would normally work, but the Action delegates are anonymous, so I would have to build the types and methods to accomplish this. I need to find an easier way to do this, without resorting to using Emit. Does anyone know how to easily create MethodInfo instances from Action delegates?

  • Django foreign keys cascade deleting and "related_name" parameter (bug?)

    - by Wiseman
In this topic I found a good way to prevent cascade deleting of relating objects, when it's not neccessary. class Factures(models.Model): idFacture = models.IntegerField(primary_key=True) idLettrage = models.ForeignKey('Lettrage', db_column='idLettrage', null=True, blank=True) class Paiements(models.Model): idPaiement = models.IntegerField(primary_key=True) idLettrage = models.ForeignKey('Lettrage', db_column='idLettrage', null=True, blank=True) class Lettrage(models.Model): idLettrage = models.IntegerField(primary_key=True) def delete(self): """Dettaches factures and paiements from current lettre before deleting""" self.factures_set.clear() self.paiements_set.clear() super(Lettrage, self).delete() But this method seems to fail when we are using ForeignKey field with "related_name" parameter. As it seems to me, "clear()" method works fine and saves the instance of "deassociated" object. But then, while deleting, django uses another memorized copy of this very object and since it's still associated with object we are trying to delete - whooooosh! ...bye-bye to relatives :) Database was arcitectured before me, and in somewhat odd way, so I can't escape these "related_names" in reasonable amount of time. Anybody heard about workaround for such a trouble?

  • XNA popup text dialog

    - by mazzzzz
Hey guys, I am working on a game, and wanted to add a screen that would open when the user clicked on certain objects. The screen would be laid out to have an image on the left, a title on the top right, and text below the title. I have a few problems with this, 1) How would I create the popup box? (preferably with rounded edges) 2) How would I wrap the text (in front of the picture, but not outside the popup-box, I may even need vertical scroll bars) 3) How would I account for different screen resolutions (would they even make a difference?) Thanks for any and all help, Max

  • C# ProgressBar design pattern

    - by MadSeb
Hi, I'm working on a database upgrader application. The upgrader updates the schema of a database ( adds new columns, renames columns , adds new tables, new views to an existing database by executing SQL statements ). When a user wants to upgrade from version 1.0 to 2.0 , "Upgrader" objects are taken from an object factory and the "Execute" method of each "Upgrader" is called. The GUI of the application has a progress bar and each time an upgrader object performs a SQL statement the progress bar gets incremented. while (!version.Equal(CurrentVersion)) { IUpgrader myUpgrader = UpgraderFactory.GetUpgrader(version); myUpgrader.Execute(UpgradedFile, progressbar); version.Increment(); } My question is very simple : how should the upgrader object communicate with the progressbar. In the code above, the upgrader object is given direct access to the progressbar but I'm wondering if some better way of doing this or better design pattern exists. Regards, Seb

  • How does this ruby custom accessor work

    - by ennuikiller
So the method below in class_eval dynamically creates accessors for attributes defined at runtime. It can be used, for example, to create configuration objects with attributes read from a config file (and unknown until runtime). I understanding all of it except for the else branch. If I am correct the else branch returns the attribute value (val[0]) if there is one value passed in *val. However the way its written I would expect it to return an array (val) if there is more then one value passed in *var. In particular, if I have something like the following: value = 5 then from reading the code I would expect "#{@value}" to be [=,5]. However "#{@value}" returns 5 and not the array [=,5]. How is this possible? class Module def dsl_accessor(*symbols) symbols.each do |sym| class_eval %{ def #{sym}(*val) if val.empty? @#{sym} else @#{sym} = val.size == 1 ? val[0] : val end end } end end end
