  • Declaring two large 2d arrays gives segmentation fault.

    - by pfdevil
    Hello, i'm trying to declare and allocate memory for two 2d-arrays. However when trying to assign values to itemFeatureQ[39][16816] I get a segmentation vault. I can't understand it since I have 2GB of RAM and only using 19MB on the heap. Here is the code; double** reserveMemory(int rows, int columns) { double **array; int i; array = (double**) malloc(rows * sizeof(double *)); if(array == NULL) { fprintf(stderr, "out of memory\n"); return NULL; } for(i = 0; i < rows; i++) { array[i] = (double*) malloc(columns * sizeof(double *)); if(array == NULL) { fprintf(stderr, "out of memory\n"); return NULL; } } return array; } void populateUserFeatureP(double **userFeatureP) { int x,y; for(x = 0; x < CUSTOMERS; x++) { for(y = 0; y < FEATURES; y++) { userFeatureP[x][y] = 0; } } } void populateItemFeatureQ(double **itemFeatureQ) { int x,y; for(x = 0; x < FEATURES; x++) { for(y = 0; y < MOVIES; y++) { printf("(%d,%d)\n", x, y); itemFeatureQ[x][y] = 0; } } } int main(int argc, char *argv[]){ double **userFeatureP = reserveMemory(480189, 40); double **itemFeatureQ = reserveMemory(40, 17770); populateItemFeatureQ(itemFeatureQ); populateUserFeatureP(userFeatureP); return 0; }

  • List View Array from Database

    - by leenolasco
    I have retrieved data and successfully shown it in text view. What do i modify in my codes to make it look like a list view? And also how do modify my listview programatically(adding size and padding)? Here is my a part of my DBclass in selecting the items that I've displayed getFAData() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub String [] columns = new String[]{Row_Name}; Cursor c = ourDB.query(db_Table, columns, null, null, null, null, null); String res = ""; int iRow = c.getColumnIndex(Row_Name); //int iDesc = c.getColumnIndex(Row_Desc); //int iID = c.getColumnIndex(Row_id); for (c.moveToFirst(); !c.isAfterLast(); c.moveToNext()) { res = res + c.getString(iRow) + "\n"; } return res; } And here is class file: public class FirstAid extends Activity { @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.firstaid); displayresult(); } public void displayresult (){ TextView tvFa = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.tvFA); tvFa.setMovementMethod(new ScrollingMovementMethod()); DbHelper tblFa = new DbHelper(this); tblFa.open(); String result = tblFa.getFAData(); tblFa.close(); tvFa.setText(result); } }

  • Invoking [SKProductsRequest start] hangs on iOS 4.0

    - by figelwump
    Encountering an issue with SKProductsRequest that is specific to iOS 4.0. The problematic code: - (void)requestProductData { NSSet *productIdentifiers = [NSSet setWithObjects:kLimitedDaysUpgradeProductId, kUnlimitedUpgradeProductId, nil]; self.productsRequest = [[SKProductsRequest alloc] initWithProductIdentifiers:productIdentifiers]; self.productsRequest.delegate = self; [self.productsRequest start]; } - (void)productsRequest:(SKProductsRequest *)request didReceiveResponse:(SKProductsResponse *)response { NSLog(@"didReceiveResponse"); } When [SKProductsRequest start] is invoked, the productsRequest:didReceiveResponse: delegate method is never invoked; further, the entire app hangs and is completely unresponsive to input. Obviously, this is a huge issue for our iOS 4.0 users as it not only breaks payments but makes the app completely unusable. Some other things to note: this only happens on iOS 4.0; iOS 4.2, 3.x are fine. Also: if the delegate is not set on the SKProductsRequest (i.e. comment out the line "self.productsRequest.delegate = self;"), the app doesn't hang (but of course in that case we have no way of getting the product info). Also, the problem still reproduces with everything stripped out of the productsRequest:didReceiveResponse: callback (that method never actually gets called). Finally, if the productIdentifiers NSSet object is initialized to an empty set, the hang doesn't occur. Has anybody else experienced this? Any ideas/thoughts on what could be going on here, and how we might be able to work around this?

  • Hot to set class variable to be visible to its public static methods?

    - by RCola
    Why I can noy access my variable p in mull form iterate method? How to resolve a problem? Hot to set class variable to be visible to its public static methods? public class mull { public static void main(String[] args) throws InterruptedException { final JPanel p = createAndShowGUI(); Timer timer = new Timer(1000, new MyTimerActionListener()); timer.start(); try { Thread.sleep(10000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { } timer.stop(); public static void iterate(){ for (int i = 0; i < 55; i++){ // "p cannot be resolved" p.moveSquare(i*10, i*10); p.setParamsRing(i*5, i*7, 200, 200); // p.repaint(); } } } class MyPanel extends JPanel { .... } How to access variable set in another method (in this example main())? Why Eclipse forces me to use this ((MyPanel) p).setParamsRing(i*5, i*7, 200, 200); instead of this p.setParamsRing(i*5, i*7, 200, 200);?

  • How to verify multiple properties on an object passed as parameter?

    - by Sandbox
    I want to verify multiple properties on an object passed as parameter. Mock<IInternalDataStore> mockOrder = new Mock<IInternalDataStore>(); I can think of doing it this way. Is this correct? Does a better way exist? mockDataStore.Setup(o => o.PlaceQuickOrder(It.Is<IOrder>(order => order.Id == 1))); mockDataStore.Setup(o => o.PlaceQuickOrder(It.Is<IOrder>(order => order.type == OrderType.Qucik))); mockDataStore.Setup(o => o.PlaceQuickOrder(It.Is<IOrder>(order => order.UnitName == "NYunit"))); mockDataStore.VerifyAll(); Another way of acheiving this would be to create a fake order object, expectedOrderObj with expected properties and do something like this: mockDataStore.Setup(o => o.PlaceQuickOrder(It.Is<IOrder>(order => order == expectedOrderObj ))); But, I don't want to override ==. Do we have a solution for this in moq? My classes look something like this: public interface IInternalDataStore { void PlaceQuickOrder(IOrder order); void PlaceUltraFastOrder(IOrder order); } public interface IOrder { public int Id { get; } public OrderType type { get; set; } public string UnitName { get; set; } } public enum OrderType { Qucik = 1, UltraFast = 2 }

  • Exposing a C++ API to C#

    - by Siyfion
    So what I have is a C++ API contained within a *.dll and I want to use a C# application to call methods within the API. So far I have created a C++ / CLR project that includes the native C++ API and managed to create a "bridge" class that looks a bit like the following: ManagedBridge.h namespace ManagedAPIWrapper { public ref class Bridge { public: int bridge_test(void); int bridge_test2(api_struct* temp); } } ManagedBridge.cpp int Bridge::bridge_test(void) { return test(); } int Bridge::bridge_test2(api_struct* temp) { return test2(temp); } I also have a C# application that has a reference to the C++/CLR "Bridge.dll" and then uses the methods contained within. I have a number of problems with this: I can't figure out how to call bridge_test2 within the C# program, as it has no knowledge of what a api_struct actually is. I know that I need to marshal the object somewhere, but do I do it in the C# program or the C++/CLR bridge? This seems like a very long-winded way of exposing all of the methods in the API, is there not an easier way that I'm missing out? (That doesn't use P/Invoke!)

  • C++ - Where to throw exception?

    - by HardCoder1986
    Hello! I have some kind of an ideological question, so: Suppose I have some templated function template <typename Stream> void Foo(Stream& stream, Object& object) { ... } which does something with this object and the stream (for example, serializes that object to the stream or something like that). Let's say I also add some plain wrappers like (and let's say the number of these wrappers equals 2 or 3): void FooToFile(const std::string& filename, Object& object) { std::ifstream stream(filename.c_str()); Foo(stream, object); } So, my question is: Where in this case (ideologically) should I throw the exception if my stream is bad? Should I do this in each wrapper or just move that check to my Foo, so that it's body would look like if (!foo.good()) throw (something); // Perform ordinary actions I understand that this may be not the most important part of coding and these solutions are actually equal, but I just wan't to know "the proper" way to implement this. Thank you.

  • How to implement a Linked List in Java?

    - by nbarraille
    Hello! I am trying to implement a simple HashTable in Java that uses a Linked List for collision resolution, which is pretty easy to do in C, but I don't know how to do it in Java, as you can't use pointers... First, I know that those structures are already implemented in Java, I'm not planning on using it, just training here... So I created an element, which is a string and a pointer to the next Element: public class Element{ private String s; private Element next; public Element(String s){ this.s = s; this.next = null; } public void setNext(Element e){ this.next = e; } public String getString(){ return this.s; } public Element getNext(){ return this.next; } @Override public String toString() { return "[" + s + "] => "; } } Of course, my HashTable has an array of Element to stock the data: public class CustomHashTable { private Element[] data; Here is my problem: For example I want to implement a method that adds an element AT THE END of the linked List (I know it would have been simpler and more efficient to insert the element at the beginning of the list, but again, this is only for training purposes). How do I do that without pointer? Here is my code (which could work if e was a pointer...): public void add(String s){ int index = hash(s) % data.length; System.out.println("Adding at index: " + index); Element e = this.data[index]; while(e != null){ e = e.getNext(); } e = new Element(s); } Thanks!

  • Returning a lua table on SWIG call

    - by Tom J Nowell
    I have a class with a methodcalled GetEnemiesLua. I have bound this class to lua using SWIG, and I can call this method using my lua code. I am trying to get the method to return a lua table of objects. Here is my current code: void CSpringGame::GetEnemiesLua(){ std::vector<springai::Unit*> enemies = callback->GetEnemyUnits(); if( enemies.empty()){ lua_pushnil(ai->L); return; } else{ lua_newtable(ai->L); int top = lua_gettop(ai->L); int index = 1; for (std::vector<springai::Unit*>::iterator it = enemies.begin(); it != enemies.end(); ++it) { //key lua_pushinteger(ai->L,index);//lua_pushstring(L, key); //value CSpringUnit* unit = new CSpringUnit(callback,*it,this); ai->PushIUnit(unit); lua_settable(ai->L, -3); ++index; } ::lua_pushvalue(ai->L,-1); } } PushIUnit is as follows: void CTestAI::PushIUnit(IUnit* unit){ SWIG_NewPointerObj(L,unit,SWIGTYPE_p_IUnit,1); } To test this I have the following code: t = game:GetEnemiesLua() if t == nil then game:SendToConsole("t is nil! ") end The result is always 't is nil', despite this being incorrect. I have put breakpoints in the code and it is indeed going over the loop, rather than doing lua_pushnil. So how do I make my method return a table when called via lua?

  • LinQ optimization

    - by Budda
    Here is a peace of code: void MyFunc(List<MyObj> objects) { MyFunc1(objects); foreach( MyObj obj in objects.Where(obj1=>obj1.Good)) { // Do Action With Good Object } } void MyFunc1(List<MyObj> objects) { int iGoodCount = objects.Where(obj1=>obj1.Good).Count(); BeHappy(iGoodCount); // do other stuff with 'objects' collection } Here we see that collection is analyzed twice and each time the value of 'Good' property is checked for each member: 1st time when calculating count of good objects, 2nd - when iterating through all good objects. It is desirable to have that optimized, and here is a straightforward solution: before call to MyFunc1 makecreate an additional temporary collection of good objects only (goodObjects, it can be IEnumerable); get count of these objects and pass it as an additional parameter to MyFunc1; in the 'MyFunc' method iterate not through 'objects.Where(...)' but through the 'goodObjects' collection. Not too bad approach (as far as I see), but additional parameter is required to be passed. Question: is there any LinQ out-of-the-box functionality that allows any caching during 1st Where().Count(), remembering a processed collection and use it in the next iteration? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks.

  • How do I make this Java code operate properly? [Multi-threaded, race condition]

    - by Fixee
    I got this code from a student, and it does not work properly because of a race condition involving x++ and x--. He added synchronized to the run() method trying to get rid of this bug, but obviously this only excludes threads from entering run() on the same object (which was never a problem in the first place) but doesn't prevent independent objects from updating the same static variable x at the same time. public class DataRace implements Runnable { static volatile int x; public synchronized void run() { for (int i = 0; i < 10000; i++) { x++; x--; } } public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { Thread [] threads = new Thread[100]; for (int i = 0; i < threads.length; i++) threads[i] = new Thread(new DataRace()); for (int i = 0; i < threads.length; i++) threads[i].start(); for (int i = 0; i < threads.length; i++) threads[i].join(); System.out.println(x); // x not always 0! } } Since we cannot synchronize on x (because it is primitive), the best solution I can think of is to create a new static object like static String lock = ""; and enclose the x++ and x-- within a synchronized block, locking on lock. But this seems really awkward. Is there a better way?

  • Ninject: Singleton binding syntax?

What am I doing wrong here?

  • Deleted array value still showing up on foreach loop in AS3 (bug in flash?)

    - by nexus
    It took me many hours to narrow down a problem in some code to this reproducible error, which seems to me like a bug in AVM2. Can anyone shed light on why this is occurring or how to fix it? When the value at index 1 is deleted and a value is subsequently set at index 0, the non-existent (undefined) value at index 1 will now show up in a foreach loop. I have only been able to produce this outcome with index 1 and 0 (not any other n and n-1). Run this code: package { import flash.display.Sprite; public class Main extends Sprite { public function Main():void { var bar : Array = new Array(6); out(bar); //proper behavior trace("bar[1] = 1", bar[1] = 1); out(bar); //proper behavior trace("delete bar[1]", delete bar[1]); out(bar); //proper behavior trace("bar[4] = 4", bar[4] = 4); out(bar); //for each loop will now iterate over the undefined position at index 1 trace("bar[0] = 0", bar[0] = 0); out(bar); trace("bar[3] = 3", bar[3] = 3); out(bar); } private function out(bar:Array):void { trace(bar); for each(var i : * in bar) { trace(i); } } } } It will give this output: ,,,,, bar[1] = 1 1 ,1,,,, 1 delete bar[1] true ,,,,, bar[4] = 4 4 ,,,,4, 4 bar[0] = 0 0 0,,,,4, 0 undefined 4 bar[3] = 3 3 0,,,3,4, 0 undefined 4 3

    I have a main window that I center this way in main.cpp : int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { QApplication app(argc, argv); QMainWindow *qmain = new QMainWindow; Ui_MainWindow ui; ui.setupUi(qmain); QRect r = qmain->geometry(); r.moveCenter(QApplication::desktop()->availableGeometry().center()); qmain->setGeometry(r); qmain->show(); return app.exec(); } In this "qmain" main window, I can create another QMainWindow and I try to make stick (or glue I don't know how to say) the two windows. Actually, I would like the right-top corner of the first one to be located at the left-top of the second one. For this, I use the following Ui_MainWindow's member function : void Ui_MainWindow::generate_IC() { qmenu = new QMainWindow; DiskMenu = new Ui_DiskGalMenu; DiskMenu->setupUi(qmenu); setInitialDiskMenuPosition(qmenu, this); qmenu->show(); } and the setInitialDiskMenuPosition : void Ui_MainWindow::setInitialDiskMenuPosition(QMainWindow *MainWindow, Ui_MainWindow *parent) { QSize size = parent->widget->size(); QDesktopWidget* desktop = QApplication::desktop(); int width = desktop->width(); int height = desktop->height(); int mw = size.width(); int mh = size.height(); int right = (width/2) + (mw/2); int top = (height/2) - (mh/2); MainWindow->move(right, top); } But the problem is that I don't get exactly what I want since the centralwidget size "parent- widget-size()" only returns the size of the widget and not the whole "qmain" parent window. So I have a light shift because the borders of the "qmain" window are not taken in account like it is shown below : If I could have access to the size of the whole parent window... If anyone could help me

  • Virtual functions - base class pointer

    - by user980411
    I understood why a base class pointer is made to point to a derived class object. But, I fail to understand why we need to assign to it, a base class object, when it is a base class object by itself. Can anyone please explain that? #include <iostream> using namespace std; class base { public: virtual void vfunc() { cout << "This is base's vfunc().\n"; } }; class derived1 : public base { public: void vfunc() { cout << "This is derived1's vfunc().\n"; } }; int main() { base *p, b; derived1 d1; // point to base p = &b; p->vfunc(); // access base's vfunc() // point to derived1 p = &d1; p->vfunc(); // access derived1's vfunc() return 0; }

  • How to implement the "System.out.println(ClassName::MethodName <then my message>)" of Eclipse in Netbeans?

    - by Sen
    I would like to know if there is the same feature as in eclipse to automatically generate and print the System.out.println(ClassName::MethodName <then my message>) functionality (which will print the class name and method name for debugging in the console) in Netbeans also. For example, in Eclipse Editor, Typing syst + Ctrl+ Space will auto generate a System.out.println(ClassName::MethodName ) type output in the console. Is such a method available in Netbeans? As of now, I have only two methods here in Netbeans: sout + Tab (System.out.println()) and soutv + Tab (System.out.println(prints the variable used just above the line)) automatically. Let me rephrase, instead of myMethod1, I want to get the enclosing method name. Eg. : public class X { public void myMethod1(int a) { System.out.println(X::myMethod1()); // This should be produced when I type the Code-Template abbreviation (example: syst) and press tab (or corresponding key). } } public class Y { public void myMethod2(int b) { System.out.println(Y::myMethod2()); // This should be produced when I type the Code-Template abbreviation (example: syst) and press tab (or corresponding key). } } Update: With the following code template: syst = System.out.println("${classVar editable="false" currClassName default="getClass()"}"); I am able to print the classname, but still no clue for the Method name.
