  • ASP.NET MVC Using Castle Windsor IoC

    - by Mad Halfling
I have an app, modelled on the one from Apress Pro ASP.NET MVC that uses castle windsor's IoC to instantiate the controllers with their respective repositories, and this is working fine e.g. public class ItemController : Controller { private IItemsRepository itemsRepository; public ItemController(IItemsRepository windsorItemsRepository) { this.itemsRepository = windsorItemsRepository; } with using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Mvc; using Castle.Windsor; using Castle.Windsor.Configuration.Interpreters; using Castle.Core.Resource; using System.Reflection; using Castle.Core; namespace WebUI { public class WindsorControllerFactory : DefaultControllerFactory { WindsorContainer container; // The constructor: // 1. Sets up a new IoC container // 2. Registers all components specified in web.config // 3. Registers all controller types as components public WindsorControllerFactory() { // Instantiate a container, taking configuration from web.config container = new WindsorContainer(new XmlInterpreter(new ConfigResource("castle"))); // Also register all the controller types as transient var controllerTypes = from t in Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetTypes() where typeof(IController).IsAssignableFrom(t) select t; foreach (Type t in controllerTypes) container.AddComponentWithLifestyle(t.FullName, t, LifestyleType.Transient); } // Constructs the controller instance needed to service each request protected override IController GetControllerInstance(Type controllerType) { return (IController)container.Resolve(controllerType); } } } controlling the controller creation. I sometimes need to create other repository instances within controllers, to pick up data from other places, can I do this using the CW IoC, if so then how? I have been playing around with the creation of new controller classes, as they should auto-register with my existing code (if I can get this working, I can register them properly later) but when I try to instantiate them there is an obvious objection as I can't supply a repos class for the constructor (I was pretty sure that was the wrong way to go about it anyway). Any help (especially examples) would be much appreciated. Cheers MH

  • Pagination in Joomla!

Hi every one. I'm a bit new to Joomla! and I'm building my new web site using Joomla! 1.5.8 with a template bought from RocketTheme. The long article in question is a gallery of photos, and I wanted to create a horizontal pagination nav-bar in the footer of the gallery, I just clicked pagebreak where I wanted to paginate in my article in the WYSIWYG editor and thought that it's actually all I have to do. What I got was ugly; a vertically directed navigation bar placed in the top right side of my gallery with the links to each part of the article, the all without the minimum styling. And as I see it's a table! Why not outputting a list instead of a table! (Well this is not actually my concern right now). I can understand CSS and html, but I'm not really a PHP guy, so I don't understand how to use pagination.php or pagenavigation.php! Do I have to customize one of them to have my nav-bar? What I have to do to get that horizontal nav-bar? Really thanks in advance. Wassim

  • Flex - Flash Builder Design View not showing embedded fonts correctly

    - by Crusader
Tools: Air 2, Flex SDK 4.1, Flash Builder, Halo component set (NO Spark being used at all) Fonts work perfectly when running the appliction, but not in design view. This effectively makes design view WORTHLESS because it's impossible to properly position components or labels without knowing what the true size is (it changes depending on font...) ... CSS included in root component like so: <fx:Style source="style.css"/> CSS file: /* CSS file */ @namespace mx "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"; global { font-family:Segoe; font-size:14; color:#FFFFFF; } mx|Application, mx|VBox, mx|HBox, mx|Canvas { font-family:Segoe; background-color:#660000; border-color:#222277; color:#FFFFFF; } mx|Button { font-family:Segoe; fill-colors:#660000, #660000, #660000, #660000; color:#FFFFFF; } .... Interestingly (or buggily?), when I try pasting the style tag into a subcomponent (lower than the top level container), I get a bunch of warnings in the subcomponent editor view stating that CSS type selectors are not supported in.. (all the components in the style sheet). Yet, they do work when the application is executed. Huh? This is how I'm embedding the fonts in the root level container: [Embed(source="/assets/segoepr.ttf", fontName="Segoe", mimeType="application/x-font-truetype", embedAsCFF='false')] public static const font:Class; [Embed(source="/assets/segoeprb.ttf", fontName="Segoe", mimeType="application/x-font-truetype", fontWeight="bold", embedAsCFF='false')] public static const font2:Class; So, is there a way to get embedded fonts to work in design view or what?

  • C# PInvoke VerQueryValue returns back OutOfMemoryException?

    - by Bopha
    Hi, Below is the code sample which I got from online resource but it's suppose to work with fullframework, but when I try to build it using C# smart device, it throws exception saying it's out of memory. Does anybody know how can I fix it to use on compact? the out of memory exception when I make the second call to VerQueryValue which is the last one. thanks, [DllImport("coredll.dll")] public static extern bool VerQueryValue(byte[] buffer, string subblock, out IntPtr blockbuffer, out uint len); [DllImport("coredll.dll")] public static extern bool VerQueryValue(byte[] pBlock, string pSubBlock, out string pValue, out uint len); // private static void GetAssemblyVersion() { string filename = @"\Windows\MyLibrary.dll"; if (File.Exists(filename)) { try { int handle = 0; Int32 size = 0; size = GetFileVersionInfoSize(filename, out handle); if (size > 0) { bool retValue; byte[] buffer = new byte[size]; retValue = GetFileVersionInfo(filename, handle, size, buffer); if (retValue == true) { bool success = false; IntPtr blockbuffer = IntPtr.Zero; uint len = 0; //success = VerQueryValue(buffer, "\\", out blockbuffer, out len); success = VerQueryValue(buffer, @"\VarFileInfo\Translation", out blockbuffer, out len); if(success) { int p = (int)blockbuffer; //Reads a 16-bit signed integer from unmanaged memory int j = Marshal.ReadInt16((IntPtr)p); p += 2; //Reads a 16-bit signed integer from unmanaged memory int k = Marshal.ReadInt16((IntPtr)p); string sb = string.Format("{0:X4}{1:X4}", j, k); string spv = @"\StringFileInfo\" + sb + @"\ProductVersion"; string versionInfo; VerQueryValue(buffer, spv, out versionInfo, out len); } } } } catch (Exception err) { string error = err.Message; } } }

  • Why does IIS respond to a secure(SSL) page request with a 302 to its non-secure version?

    - by ISawrub
I have SSL installed at the root of a server. I have a page whose code behind code is supposed to redirect after certain validation to a secure page. Here's the redirect code: switch (PageBase2.GetParameterValue("Environment")) //Retrieves App Setting named Environment from web.config { case "Server": strURL = @"https://" + HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.Authority + "/checkout/payment.aspx"; break; case "Local": strURL = @"http://" + HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.Authority + "/checkout/payment.aspx"; break; default: strURL = @"https://" + HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.Authority + "/checkout/payment.aspx"; break; } Response.Redirect(strURL, false); But the page that's been served by IIS is non-secure. I looked at the firebug console and it appears that the client does make a get request to https://server/checkout/payment.aspx but IIS responds with a 302 to http://server/checkout/payment.aspx Any clues, as to what could be causing it. I've even tried forcing SSL for the page, but it doesn't work I get 403.4 error. (SSL is required to view this resource.) And if i remove the redirection logic and code the payment page to redirect to its SSL version when the connection is not secure using Request.IsSecureConnection, i end up with an endless redirect loop, simply because IIS still won't serve the secure version without a 302. Any ideas?

  • Android : Customizing tabs on state : How do I make a selector a drawable

    - by Chrispix
I know how to put the icon on each tab, that is no problem. I also ran across this : Stack Overflow thread on pretty much same thing I followed one of the links from that question, and found this Pretty much, it said use a selector defined in the xml, sure, did that. But there is no id associated w/ it so I am not sure how to get the selector function as a drawable so I can use it as the icon for the tabs. Maybe I am going about this the wrong way.. But this is what I have, and obviously missing something. <selector android:id="@+id/myselector" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <!-- Non focused states --> <item android:state_focused="false" android:state_selected="false" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/darklogo" /> <item android:state_focused="false" android:state_selected="true" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/lightlogo" /> <!-- Focused states --> <item android:state_focused="true" android:state_selected="false" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/lightlogo" /> <item android:state_focused="true" android:state_selected="true" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/lightlogo" /> <!-- Pressed --> <item android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/lightlogo" /> </selector> In my code, an example tab is generated using : host.addTab(host.newTabSpec("three") .setIndicator("map",drawables) .setContent(new Intent(this, Map.class))); Right now drawables is just a reference to an drawable image resource. How do I make the selector a drawable? * This is my question *

  • Getting Started with AJAX ToolKit Controls

    - by Aviran
I am trying to make my first AJAX Control and I get error. I probbly missed some steps but I cann't find them eventhough I read many tutorials, probbly since I am new in AJAX, so I need to be guided step-by-step. These are the steps I've already done: Downloading AJAX ToolKit. Adding These Controls to the ToolBox. creating new ASP.NET Website (I heard about AJAX-Enabled Option, but I dont have this option) Adding a AJAX Tool. And thats it. I read that I need to register add AjaxControlToolkit.dll in application bin folder, but I dont know how to do that and I dont have Bin Folder in my website, only App_Data Folder. than I need to add this to the web config: <add tagPrefix="ajaxToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" assembly="AjaxControlToolkit"/> than I need to add this to my website: <asp:ScriptManager ID="scriptmanager1" EnablePartialRendering="true" runat="Server" /> This is the error I receive: "Compilation Error Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. • Blackberry read local properties file in project

    - by Dachmt
Hi, I have a config.properties file at the root of my blackberry project (same place as Blackberry_App_Descriptor.xml file), and I try to access the file to read and write into it. See below my class: public class Configuration { private String file; private String fileName; public Configuration(String pathToFile) { this.fileName = pathToFile; try { // Try to load the file and read it System.out.println("---------- Start to read the file"); file = readFile(fileName); System.out.println("---------- Property file:"); System.out.println(file); } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println("---------- Error reading file"); System.out.println(e.getMessage()); } } /** * Read a file and return it in a String * @param fName * @return */ private String readFile(String fName) { String properties = null; try { System.out.println("---------- Opening the file"); //to actually retrieve the resource prefix the name of the file with a "/" InputStream is = this.getClass().getResourceAsStream(fName); //we now have an input stream. Create a reader and read out //each character in the stream. System.out.println("---------- Input stream"); InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(is); char c; System.out.println("---------- Append string now"); while ((c = (char)isr.read()) != -1) { properties += c; } } catch (Exception e) { } return properties; } } I call my class constructor like this: Configuration config = new Configuration("/config.properties"); So in my class, "file" should have all the content of the config.properties file, and the fileName should have this value "/config.properties". But the "name" is null because the file cannot be found... I know this is the path of the file which should be different, but I don't know what i can change... The class is in the package com.mycompany.blackberry.utils Thank you!

  • reconstructing a tree from its preorder and postorder lists.

    - by NomeN
Consider the situation where you have two lists of nodes of which all you know is that one is a representation of a preorder traversal of some tree and the other a representation of a postorder traversal of the same tree. I believe it is possible to reconstruct the tree exactly from these two lists, and I think I have an algorithm to do it, but have not proven it. As this will be a part of a masters project I need to be absolutely certain that it is possible and correct (Mathematically proven). However it will not be the focus of the project, so I was wondering if there is a source out there (i.e. paper or book) I could quote for the proof. (Maybe in TAOCP? anybody know the section possibly?) In short, I need a proven algorithm in a quotable resource that reconstructs a tree from its pre and post order traversals. Note: The tree in question will probably not be binary, or balanced, or anything that would make it too easy. Note2: Using only the preorder or the postorder list would be even better, but I do not think it is possible. Note3: A node can have any amount of children. Note4: I only care about the order of siblings. Left or right does not matter when there is only one child.

  • Pentaho - Reporting Tool - Is the .prpt file (report template file) contains datasource information

    - by Yatendra Goel
I am new Pentaho Reporting Tool. I have the following question: When I created a report using Pentaho Report Designer, it output a report file having .prpt extension. After that I found an example on internet where the following code were used to display the report in html format:| protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { ResourceManager manager = new ResourceManager(); manager.registerDefaults(); String reportPath = "file:" + this.getServletContext().getRealPath("sampleReport.prpt"); try { Resource res = manager.createDirectly(new URL(reportPath), MasterReport.class); MasterReport report = (MasterReport) res.getResource(); HtmlReportUtil.createStreamHTML(report, response.getOutputStream()); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } And the report got printed successfully. So as we haven't specified any datasource information here, I think that the .prpt file contains that information in it. If that's true than Isn't Jasper is better Reporting tool than Pentaho because when we display Jasper reports, we have to provide datasource details also so in that way our report is flexible and is not bound to any particular database.

  • Python: Seeing all files in Hex.

    - by Recursion
I am writing a python script which looks at common computer files and examines them for similar bytes, words, double word's. Though I need/want to see the files in Hex, ande cannot really seem to get python to open a simple file in python. I have tried codecs.open with hex as the encoding, but when I operate on the file descriptor it always spits back File "main.py", line 41, in <module> main() File "main.py", line 38, in main process_file(sys.argv[1]) File "main.py", line 27, in process_file seeker(line.rstrip("\n")) File "main.py", line 15, in seeker for unit in f.read(2): File "/usr/lib/python2.6/codecs.py", line 666, in read return self.reader.read(size) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/codecs.py", line 472, in read newchars, decodedbytes = self.decode(data, self.errors) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/encodings/hex_codec.py", line 50, in decode return hex_decode(input,errors) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/encodings/hex_codec.py", line 42, in hex_decode output = binascii.a2b_hex(input) TypeError: Non-hexadecimal digit found def seeker(_file): f = codecs.open(_file, "rb", "hex") for LINE in f.read(): print LINE f.close() I really just want to see files, and operate on them as if it was in a hex editor like xxd. Also is it possible to read a file in increments of maybe a word at a time. No this is not homework.

  • Is there a good tutorial for figuring out what a website is doing so your program can do the same th

    - by brian d foy
Is there a good guide or tutorial for people who need to programmatically interact with dynamic websites? There's been a rash of Perl questions about that lately, and I haven't found a good resource to point people toward. I'm asking not because I need one but because I don't want to waste my time writing it if it already exists. Although I'm most interested in Perl, the extra tools and techniques are mostly the same. Typically, I see see these problems in people's questions: Handling, setting, and saving cookies Finding and interacting with forms Handling JavaScript inside your user-agent especially things like onLoad, onSumbit, and Ajax Using HTTP sniffer tools Using Web developer plugins in interactive browsers Interacting with DOM, screen scraping, etc. If there's no good tutorial, I'll add it to my list of things to do (unless someone else wants to do it :). Along the way, if you don't have a suggestion for an existing tutorial, please suggest the things that you think should be in a new one, including links, your favorite tools, and your own user-agent development experiences. I don't care about the particular language you use.

  • Localization approach for XSLT + RESX in ASP.NET

    - by frankadelic
I have an ASP.NET web app where the back end data (XML format) is transformed using XSLT, producing XHTML which is output into the page. Simplified code: XmlDocument xmlDoc = MyRepository.RetrieveXmlData(keyValue); XslCompiledTransform xsl = new XslCompiledTransform(); xsl.Load(pathToXsl, XsltSettings.TrustedXslt, null); StringWriter stringWriter = new StringWriter(); xsl.Transform(xmlDoc, null, stringWriter); myLiteral.Text = stringWriter.ToString(); Currently my XSL file contains the XHTML markup elements, as well as text labels, which are currently in English. for example: <p>Title:<br /> <xsl:value-of select="title"/> </p> <p>Description:<br /> <xsl:value-of select="desc"/> </p> I would like the text labels (Title and Description above) to be localized. I was thinking of using .NET resource files (.resx), but I don't know how the resx string resources would get pulled in to the XSLT when the transformation takes place. I would prefer not to have locale-specific copies of the XSLT file, since that means a lot of duplicate transformation logic. (NOTE: the XML data is already localized, so I don't need to change that)

  • Unable to call RESTful web services methods

Can anyone explain me how to perform these operations and how to create the correct URLs? Best regards Alessandro

  • Producing 64-bit builds on Windows with free software

    - by pauldoo
Hi, I have a C++ project that I've been developing in Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition. It has come to the point that I'd like to port to 64-bit and continue development. What is the best way to do this using free software? My thoughts so far: The Express Edition of MSVC doesn't come with 64-bit compilers, so I can install the Windows SDK to get these. I could then port my project files to nmake, and use the IDE just as a tool to debug and invoke my nmake scripts.. The downside to this is that nmake looks very poor. The example towards the end of this tutorial suggests that nmake cannot figure out source file dependences itself, and I don't know of anything equivelant to gcc -M that I could use. Another option might be to use vcbuild from the Windows SDK to produce 64-bit builds from my existing vcproj files. Preliminary investigations show that this doesn't really work, as my project files don't have the 64-bit configurations present. (Perhaps I could fudge this by adding the 64-bit configurations to the vcproj files in a text editor.) A final option might be to give up on MSVC, and port my project to the MinGW/MSYS toolchain.

  • Linux System Programming

    - by AJ
I wanted to get into systems programming for linux and wanted to know how to approach that and where to begin. I come from a web development background (Python, PHP) but I also know some C and C++. Essentially, I would like to know: Which language(s) to learn and pursue (I think mainly C and C++)? How/Where to learn those languages specific to Systems Programming? Books, websites, blogs, tutorials etc. Any other good places where I can start this from basics? Any good libraries to begin with? What environment setup (or approx.) do I need? Assuming linux has to be there but I have a linux box which I rarely log into using GUI (always use SSH). Is GUI a lot more helpful or VI editor is enough? (Please let me know if this part of the question should go to serverfault.com) PS: Just to clarify, by systems programming I mean things like writing device drivers, System tools, write native applications which are not present on Linux platform but are on others, play with linux kernel etc.

  • Is there a more easy way to create a WCF/OData Data Service Query Provider?

    - by routeNpingme
I have a simple little data model resembling the following: InventoryContext { IEnumerable<Computer> GetComputers() IEnumerable<Printer> GetPrinters() } Computer { public string ComputerName { get; set; } public string Location { get; set; } } Printer { public string PrinterName { get; set; } public string Location { get; set; } } The results come from a non-SQL source, so this data does not come from Entity Framework connected up to a database. Now I want to expose the data through a WCF OData service. The only way I've found to do that thus far is creating my own Data Service Query Provider, per this blog tutorial: http://blogs.msdn.com/alexj/archive/2010/01/04/creating-a-data-service-provider-part-1-intro.aspx ... which is great, but seems like a pretty involved undertaking. The code for the provider would be 4 times longer than my whole data model to generate all of the resource sets and property definitions. Is there something like a generic provider in between Entity Framework and writing your own data source from zero? Maybe some way to build an object data source or something, so that the magical WCF unicorns can pick up my data and ride off into the sunset without having to explicitly code the provider?

  • flow 2 columns of text automatically with CSS

    - by Joseph Mastey
I have the code similar to the following: <p>This is paragraph 1. Lorem ipsum ... </p> <p>This is paragraph 2. Lorem ipsum ... </p> <p>This is paragraph 3. Lorem ipsum ... </p> <p>This is paragraph 4. Lorem ipsum ... </p> <p>This is paragraph 5. Lorem ipsum ... </p> <p>This is paragraph 6. Lorem ipsum ... </p> I'd like to, without markup if possible, cause this text to flow into two columns (1-3 on the left, 4-6 on the right). The reason for my hesitation to add a column using a <div> is that this text is entered by the client via a WYSIWYG editor, so any elements I inject are likely to be killed later on inexplicably. Thanks, Joe

  • How do I make Views fill the full width of their parent in my Android app?

    - by Omega
I have the following layout defined for one of my Activities: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TableLayout android:id="@+id/TableLayout01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <TableRow android:id="@+id/TableRow01" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent"> <EditText android:text="Resource Name" android:id="@+id/ResourceName" android:lines="1" android:isScrollContainer="false"></EditText> </TableRow> <TableRow android:id="@+id/TableRow02" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent"> <Button android:id="@+id/Tile" android:text="Tile"></Button> </TableRow> </TableLayout> The layout renders almost correctly, the only problem is that my text box and my button aren't occupying the full width of their respective rows. I've tried specifying fill_parent for the layout width properties, but to no avail, they still only occupy roughly half of the screen. Documentation overall for Android so far has been great, but there are a few scenarios like this one where I hit an invisible wall! Thanks for all the help!

I have set the <core:init distributable="true" debug="true" /> My Session and Conversation classes implement Serializable. I start using the application being served by the first node. The console shows that the session replication is working. <Jun 17, 2010 11:43:50 AM EEST> <Info> <Cluster> <BEA-000128> <Updating 5903057688359791237S:xxx.yyy.gr:[7002,7002,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1]:xxx.yyy.gr:7002,xxx.yyy.gr:7002:prs_domain:PRS_Server_2 in the cluster.> <Jun 17, 2010 11:43:50 AM EEST> <Info> <Cluster> <BEA-000128> <Updating 5903057688359791237S:xxx.yyy.gr:[7002,7002,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1]:xxx.yyy.gr:7002,xxx.yyy.gr:7002:prs_domain:PRS_Server_2 in the cluster.> When I shutdown the first node from the Administration console, I get this in the other node: <Jun 17, 2010 11:23:46 AM EEST> <Error> <Kernel> <BEA-000802> <ExecuteRequest failed java.lang.NullPointerException. java.lang.NullPointerException at org.jboss.seam.intercept.JavaBeanInterceptor.callPostActivate(JavaBeanInterceptor.java:165) at org.jboss.seam.intercept.JavaBeanInterceptor.invoke(JavaBeanInterceptor.java:73) at com.myproj.beans.SortingFilteringBean_$$_javassist_seam_2.sessionDidActivate(SortingFilteringBean_$$_javassist_seam_2.java) at weblogic.servlet.internal.session.SessionData.notifyActivated(SessionData.java:2258) at weblogic.servlet.internal.session.SessionData.notifyActivated(SessionData.java:2222) at weblogic.servlet.internal.session.ReplicatedSessionData.becomePrimary(ReplicatedSessionData.java:231) at weblogic.cluster.replication.WrappedRO.changeStatus(WrappedRO.java:142) at weblogic.cluster.replication.WrappedRO.ensureStatus(WrappedRO.java:129) at weblogic.cluster.replication.LocalSecondarySelector$ChangeSecondaryInfo.run(LocalSecondarySelector.java:542) at weblogic.work.SelfTuningWorkManagerImpl$WorkAdapterImpl.run(SelfTuningWorkManagerImpl.java:516) at weblogic.work.ExecuteThread.execute(ExecuteThread.java:201) at weblogic.work.ExecuteThread.run(ExecuteThread.java:173) > What am I doing wrong? • Big sinatra problems

    - by Joel M.
Hi, So I'm having huge trouble with sinatra. Here's what I have: require 'dm-core' DataMapper.setup(:default, ENV['DATABASE_URL'] || 'sqlite3://my.db') class Something include DataMapper::Resource property :id, Serial property :thing, Text property :run_in, Integer property :added_at, DateTime property :to, String def schedule cronify(self.thing+" to "+self.to, "http://url"+self.id.to_s, self.run_in) end def notify text(self.thing, self.to) end end Something.auto_upgrade! The cronify method works. I tested it in irb. Also, the schedule instance method works, I tested it in the console. However, it doesn't work in the route, even though it works in the console. post '/add' do @something = Something.create(blah) #this works fine @something.schedule #this works fine in the console; not in the route. end I've tried everything, from @something.create(blah).schedule (which also works fine in the console, but not in the route), to defining the method cronify inside the sinatra helpers, and even calling cronify directly on the route. Nothing works on the route. What am I doing wrong?

  • Smack API giving error while logging into Tigase Server setup locally

    - by Ameya Phadke
Hi, I am currently developing android XMPP client to communicate with the Tigase server setup locally. Before starting development on Android I am writing a simple java code on PC to test connectivity with XMPP server. My XMPP domain is my pc name "mwbn43-1" and administrator username and passwords are admin and tigase respectively. Following is the snippet of the code I am using class Test { public static void main(String args[])throws Exception { System.setProperty("smack.debugEnabled", "true"); XMPPConnection.DEBUG_ENABLED = true; ConnectionConfiguration config = new ConnectionConfiguration("mwbn43-1", 5222); config.setCompressionEnabled(true); config.setSASLAuthenticationEnabled(true); XMPPConnection con = new XMPPConnection(config); // Connect to the server con.connect(); con.login("admin", "tigase"); Chat chat = con.getChatManager().createChat("aaphadke@mwbn43-1", new MessageListener() { public void processMessage(Chat chat, Message message) { // Print out any messages we get back to standard out. System.out.println("Received message: " + message); } }); try { chat.sendMessage("Hi!"); } catch (XMPPException e) { System.out.println("Error Delivering block"); } String host = con.getHost(); String user = con.getUser(); String id = con.getConnectionID(); int port = con.getPort(); boolean i = false; i = con.isConnected(); if (i) System.out.println("Connected to host " + host + " via port " + port + " connection id is " + id); System.out.println("User is " + user); con.disconnect(); } } When I run this code I get following error Exception in thread "main" Resource binding not offered by server: at org.jivesoftware.smack.SASLAuthentication.bindResourceAndEstablishSession(SASLAuthenticatio n.java:416) at org.jivesoftware.smack.SASLAuthentication.authenticate(SASLAuthentication.java:331) at org.jivesoftware.smack.XMPPConnection.login(XMPPConnection.java:395) at org.jivesoftware.smack.XMPPConnection.login(XMPPConnection.java:349) at Test.main(Test.java:26) I found this articles on the same problem but no concrete solution here Could anyone please tell me the solution for this problem.I checked the XMPPConnection.java file in the Smack API and it looks the same as given in the link solution. Thanks, Ameya

  • Getting message in android app: Binary XML file line #2: You must supply a layout_width attribute.

    - by opike
    I'm trying to use a ListView inside of a RelativeLayout but when I run my app I get a runtimeexception with the message: Binary XML file line #2: You must supply a layout_width attribute. I tried putting layout_width attributes in every conceivable place in the xml resource files but so far no luck. I attempt to populate the listview with this line of code: setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter(this, R.layout.tablerow3, R.id.label, items)); Here's the tablerow3.xml contents: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> android:layout_width="20dp" android:layout_height="5dp" android:id="@+id/tablerow01"> <Label android:id="@+id/label01" android:layout_width="5dp" android:layout_height="5dp" android:textColor="@color/solid_white" android:singleLine="true"/> <Label android:id="@+id/label02" android:layout_width="5dp" android:layout_height="5dp" android:textColor="@color/solid_white" android:singleLine="true"/> </LinearLayout> Here's the xml that contains the RelativeLayout(forex2.xml): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <Button android:text="Static Button" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:id="@+id/button_id"> </Button> <Spinner android:id="@+id/spinner1" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/button_id" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:drawSelectorOnTop="true" /> <ListView android:id="@android:id/list" android:layout_width="5dp" android:layout_height="5dp" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" /> <!-- android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" --> </RelativeLayout>

  • Game login authentication and security.

    - by Charles
First off I will say I am completely new to security in coding. I am currently helping a friend develop a small game (in Python) which will have a login server. I don't have much knowledge regarding security, but I know many games do have issues with this. Everything from 3rd party applications (bots) to WPE packet manipulation. Considering how small this game will be and the limited user base, I doubt we will have serious issues, but would like to try our best to limit problems. I am not sure where to start or what methods I should use, or what's worth it. For example, sending data to the server such as login name and password. I was told his information should be encrypted when sending, so in-case someone was viewing it (with whatever means), that they couldn't get into the account. However, if someone is able to capture the encrypted string, wouldn't this string always work since it's decrypted server side? In other words, someone could just capture the packet, reuse it, and still gain access to the account? The main goal I am really looking for is to make sure the players are logging into the game with the client we provide, and to make sure it's 'secure' (broad, I know). I have looked around at different methods such as Public and Private Key encryption, which I am sure any hex editor could eventually find. There are many other methods that seem way over my head at the moment and leave the impression of overkill. I realize nothing is 100% secure. I am just looking for any input or reading material (links) to accomplish the main goal stated above. Would appreciate any help, thanks.
