I noticed in the main Django introductin they show a feature that maps python objects to the database. This doesn't strike me as being mutually exclusive with with development, is there any reason why this can't be used for non web apps? Is it easy to separate out?
hi,
this might be trivial (please forgive me for that)
but my eventual goal is to have a string like

but did not work at ...
could someone help me out.
Hello.
I'm setting up a web service which will only be used by a limited number (< 100) of known agents (business partners etc.).
Because I am not public facing, do I face any real downside to using self-issued certs as opposed to the much more costly route of using a known CA?
I'm writing a websercive in C# that will generate pdf-files and send back to the caller as a byte[]. The pdf file is generated using a third party component, but I'm struggling with the conversion. The pdf is just an in-memory object in the web service, and I can't find any good way of converting the generated pdf to a byte[] before returning it to the caller. Any advice on this?
Hello,
I've to create a static web site, only .html files.
Each page will have the same layout.
I need a kind of template engine or a tool to generate about 200pages with minimal efforts...

Hello All-
I'm having trouble with a URL string in my Web Application. It's using a UNC path similar to \\houtestmachine\common\File1.pdf My problem is when it encounters files that have a # character. I tried doing a string newstring = originalstring.Replace("#", "%23"); but the # is still there in URL (target of a hyperlink) at runtime in the browser. How can I fix this?

Hi,
i would like to set the date format of all the dates in my web application in a central location.
i mean if the website is opened in USA it will have a format such as
3/19/2010 (March/19/2010)
while in Italy will be
19/3/2010 (19/March/2010)
i am no really concerned with how to locate the users but indeed on how to set the different date format for the whole application in one single location in c#.NET

Hi,
I want to create a web application which makes use of Google maps.
Features are quite simple:
Users can login (best with FB connect)
Users can post items which are geolocated
UI consists mainly of a google map with all items
I'm looking for something implemented where you would only have to specify the nature of your items.
Any ideas?
I have web services built with ASP.NET and ASP.NET clients consuming them. When consuming the webservices, how would I to force the clients to use https?
I don't want to force the whole site to use https by turning on require SSL in IIS.
Can I use the IIS7 URL rewrite module to re-route http requests to https?

A very broad question, but how would you handle multiple domain names for different clients? Do you setup a "Web Hosting"-like server where you install Cpanel?
What are other cheaper alternatives to Cpanel?
Can we write a web service to watch a table in sql server. whenever the corresponding table is populated with new records, the new records should appended to the another table which has the same structure of the old one.
Is this is possible using webservices if not how to perform this.
Before I go off and code this, I thought I'd see if anyone here knows of any open source (or paid for) equivalents already built.
I'm looking for a browser control where users can preview a web page and then highlight elements of it and once highlighted, I can get the div or id of the element selected.

I've seen this all over the web
javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$lnk2','')
Checking headers of the last place I saw it didn't reveal a server side language.
What server side language and/or framework encourages this style of link?
Is there any way to define a variable that can be used in multiple Web pages? For example, a string variable stores a certain value in page A and that value can be accessed in page B. I know cookies can do it. Is there any other way?
