  • Is it a bad idea to ask an interviewer what the greatest strength and weakness of their development team is?

    I was wondering if this was a good question to ask a possible employer when interviewing for a developer position: What is the greatest strength and weakness of your development team? We all get this question when we are in an interview, so why not ask them in return? I think it is a very good question because we could find out about the team, and how this strength or weakness could affect us, but I don't want to annoy the interviewer. Is there any downside to asking this question when interviewing for a developer position?

    When handling a UIButton touch, you are given a UIEvent object. The UIEvent object has a timestamp which the Apple documentation states as being "the time that the event was created" (UIEvent Class Reference). In the documentation on the Main Event Loop, it states that: "The application object obtains the topmost object in the event queue, converts it to an event object (UIEvent) ..." Does [UIEvent timestamp] refer to the time at which the UIEvent object is created (i.e. after processing the touch event off of the main run loop and hance not remotely real-time) or does it refer to the time that the underlying touch object was created (and hence as close as possible to representing the actual time of the user touch9?

    Hi, I am wanting to insert a datetime into a MySql data base using Java and a prepared statement: Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(); PreparedStatement stmnt = db.PreparedStatement("INSERT INTO Run " + "(Time) VALUE (?) "); stmnt.setDate(1, new java.sql.Date(cal.getTime())); stmnt.executeQuery(); NOTE: thre is currently an error - cannot find symbol (java.sql.Date) line 4 here db is an instance of a sort of wrapper class that exposes what I need from java.sql - its just getting a prepared statement from my connection object here. Time (the column) is a date time in my database, and I can only see sedDate and setTime method but I want to store both - also my code does not work anyway ;-) if anyone could give me some pointers on inserting a combined date time (current time would be a great help as that's my first goal) into a MySql DB using a prepared statement I would be very grateful.   • MySQL: Records inserted by hour, for the last 24 hours

    I'm trying to list the number of records per hour inserted into a database for the last 24 hours. Each row displays the records inserted that hour, as well as how many hours ago it was. Here's my query now: SELECT COUNT(*), FLOOR( TIME_TO_SEC( TIMEDIFF( NOW(), time)) / 3600 ) FROM `records` WHERE time > DATE_SUB(NOW(), INTERVAL 24 HOUR) GROUP BY HOUR(time) ORDER BY time ASC right now it returns: 28 23 62 23 14 20 1 4 28 3 19 1 That shows two rows from 23 hours ago, when it should only show one per hour. I think it has something to do with using NOW() instead of getting the time at the start of the hour, which I'm unsure on how to get. There must be a simpler way of doing this.
