  • How do I select the first row per group in an SQL Query?

    - by mafutrct
    I've got this SQL query: SELECT Foo, Bar, SUM(Values) AS Sum FROM SomeTable GROUP BY Foo, Bar ORDER BY Foo DESC, Sum DESC This results in an output similar to this: 47 1 100 47 0 10 47 2 10 46 0 100 46 1 10 46 2 10 44 0 2 I'd like to have only the first row per Foo and ignore the rest. 47 1 100 46 0 100 44 0 2 How do I do that?

  • Large File Download - Connection With Server Reset

    - by daveywc
    I have an asp.net website that allows the user to download largish files - 30mb to about 60mb. Sometimes the download works fine but often it fails at some varying point before the download finishes with the message saying that the connection with the server was reset. Originally I was simply using Server.TransmitFile but after reading up a bit I am now using the code posted below. I am also setting the Server.ScriptTimeout value to 3600 in the Page_Init event. private void DownloadFile(string fname, bool forceDownload) { string path = MapPath(fname); string name = Path.GetFileName(path); string ext = Path.GetExtension(path); string type = ""; // set known types based on file extension if (ext != null) { switch (ext.ToLower()) { case ".mp3": type = "audio/mpeg"; break; case ".htm": case ".html": type = "text/HTML"; break; case ".txt": type = "text/plain"; break; case ".doc": case ".rtf": type = "Application/msword"; break; } } if (forceDownload) { Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + name.Replace(" ", "_")); } if (type != "") { Response.ContentType = type; } else { Response.ContentType = "application/x-msdownload"; } System.IO.Stream iStream = null; // Buffer to read 10K bytes in chunk: byte[] buffer = new Byte[10000]; // Length of the file: int length; // Total bytes to read: long dataToRead; try { // Open the file. iStream = new System.IO.FileStream(path, System.IO.FileMode.Open, System.IO.FileAccess.Read, System.IO.FileShare.Read); // Total bytes to read: dataToRead = iStream.Length; //Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"; //Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + filename); // Read the bytes. while (dataToRead > 0) { // Verify that the client is connected. if (Response.IsClientConnected) { // Read the data in buffer. length = iStream.Read(buffer, 0, 10000); // Write the data to the current output stream. Response.OutputStream.Write(buffer, 0, length); // Flush the data to the HTML output. Response.Flush(); buffer = new Byte[10000]; dataToRead = dataToRead - length; } else { //prevent infinite loop if user disconnects dataToRead = -1; } } } catch (Exception ex) { // Trap the error, if any. Response.Write("Error : " + ex.Message); } finally { if (iStream != null) { //Close the file. iStream.Close(); } Response.Close(); } }

  • Explained shell statement

    - by Mats Stijlaart
    The following statement will remove line numbers in a txt file: cat withLineNumbers.txt | sed 's/^.......//' >> withoutLineNumbers.txt The input file is created with the following statement (this one i understand): nl -ba input.txt >> withLineNumbers.txt I know the functionality of cat and i know the output is written to the 'withoutLineNumbers.txt' file. But the part of '| sed 's/^.......//'' is not really clear to me. Thanks for your time.

  • Simplifying and reducing the cost of an anti-join query

    - by Savitha
    Hi, Could you please help me in simplifying and reducing the cost of the below query? I tried making it a co-related subquery with NOT EXISTS but it didn't give me any output. Please note that the table in both main and inner query is the same 'table_1". SELECT * FROM Table_1 A WHERE A.Col1 = 'abcd' AND (A.Col2, A.Col3) NOT IN (SELECT Col2, Col3 FROM Table_1 B WHERE (B.Col4 IN (1,2,3) And B.Col5 In ('x','y')) OR (B.Col4 = 1 AND B.Col5 = 'z' AND B.Col6 = 'f') )) Thanks in advance, Savitha

  • Flex: convert VideoPlayer.currentTime to string "00:00:00:000"

    - by numediaweb
    Hi there! what about this one: I want to format the currentTime displayed by a videoPlayer component inside flex, something like : 8230.999 to something like 01:59:59:999 which is "hours:minutes:seconds:milliseconds" I trie different sets of codes but they can't get it to work because currentTime is nor a correct miliseconds time as it adds a floating 3 digit point to seconds; so instead of : 2000ms it outputs 2.000 something people like me just can't understand! thanx for any help :) ### UPDATE I still have problem with milliseconds. here's the current MXML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600"> <fx:Script> <![CDATA[ protected function convert_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { var val:Number = new Number(inPut.text); //inPut.text = 1000.001 //val = val * 1000; outPut.text = timeFormat(val); } public static function timeFormat(value:Number):String { var milliseconds:Number = value % 1000; var seconds:Number = Math.floor((value/1000) % 60); var minutes:Number = Math.floor((value/60000) % 60); var hours:Number = Math.floor((value/3600000) % 24); var s_miliseconds:String = (milliseconds<10 ? "00" : (milliseconds<100 ? "0" : ""))+ String(milliseconds); var s_seconds:String = seconds < 10 ? "0" + String(seconds) : String(seconds); var s_minutes:String = minutes < 10 ? "0" + String(minutes) : String(minutes); var s_hours:String = hours < 10 ? "0" + String(hours) : String(hours); return s_hours + ":" + s_minutes + ":" + s_seconds + '.'+s_miliseconds; // returns 00:00:01.000.0009999999999763531 should return 00:00:01.001 // I still have problem with milliseconds } ]]> </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations> <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here --> </fx:Declarations> <s:TextInput x="240" y="72" id="inPut" text="1000.001"/> <s:TextInput x="240" y="140" id="outPut"/> <s:Button x="274" y="107" label="convert" id="convert" click="convert_clickHandler(event)"/> </s:Application>

  • What are the differences between these?

    - by Amit Ranjan
    What are the differences between the two queries? SELECT CountryMaster.Id FROM Districts INNER JOIN CountryMaster ON Districts.CountryId = CountryMaster.Id SELECT CountryMaster.Id FROM CountryMaster INNER JOIN Districts ON Districts.CountryId = CountryMaster.Id Please mind the i) Table positions and second ii) On Fields As I know, output will be same. But I want to know, is there any drastic effects of the same if I neglect positions of tables and columns in complex queries or tables having tons of data like thousands and lakhs of rows...

  • win32 ruby1.9 regexp and cyrillic string

    - by scriper
    #coding: utf-8 str2 = "asdf????????" p str2.encoding #<Encoding:UTF-8> p str2.scan /\p{Cyrillic}/ #found all cyrillic charachters str2.gsub!(/\w/u,'') #removes only latin characters puts str2 The question is why \w ignore cyrillic characters? I have installed latest ruby package from http://rubyinstaller.org/. Here is my output of ruby -v ruby 1.9.1p378 (2010-01-10 revision 26273) [i386-mingw32] As far as i know 1.9 oniguruma regular expression library has full support for unicode characters.

  • hexdump confusion

    - by zedoo
    I am playing with the unix hexdump utility. My input file is UTF-8 encoded, containing a single character ñ, which is C3 B1 in hexadecimal UTF-8. hexdump test.txt 0000000 b1c3 0000002 Huh? This shows B1 C3 - the inverse of what I expected! Can someone explain? For getting the expected output I do: hexdump -C test.txt 00000000 c3 b1 |..| 00000002 I was thinking I understand encoding systems..

  • Is there a Base64Stream for .NET? where?

    - by Cheeso
    If I want to produce a Base64-encoded output, how would I do that in .NET? I know that since .NET 2.0, there is the ICryptoTransform interface, and the ToBase64Transform() and FromBase64Transform() implementations of that interface. But those classes are embedded into the System.Security namespace, and require the use of a TransformBlock, TransformFinalBlock, and so on. Is there an easier way to base64 encode a stream of data in .NET?

  • node.js callback getting unexpected value for variable

    - by defrex
    I have a for loop, and inside it a variable is assigned with var. Also inside the loop a method is called which requires a callback. Inside the callback function I'm using the variable from the loop. I would expect that it's value, inside the callback function, would be the same as it was outside the callback during that iteration of the loop. However, it always seems to be the value from the last iteration of the loop. Am I misunderstanding scope in JavaScript, or is there something else wrong? The program in question here is a node.js app that will monitor a working directory for changes and restart the server when it finds one. I'll include all of the code for the curious, but the important bit is the parse_file_list function. var posix = require('posix'); var sys = require('sys'); var server; var child_js_file = process.ARGV[2]; var current_dir = __filename.split('/'); current_dir = current_dir.slice(0, current_dir.length-1).join('/'); var start_server = function(){ server = process.createChildProcess('node', [child_js_file]); server.addListener("output", function(data){sys.puts(data);}); }; var restart_server = function(){ sys.puts('change discovered, restarting server'); server.close(); start_server(); }; var parse_file_list = function(dir, files){ for (var i=0;i<files.length;i++){ var file = dir+'/'+files[i]; sys.puts('file assigned: '+file); posix.stat(file).addCallback(function(stats){ sys.puts('stats returned: '+file); if (stats.isDirectory()) posix.readdir(file).addCallback(function(files){ parse_file_list(file, files); }); else if (stats.isFile()) process.watchFile(file, restart_server); }); } }; posix.readdir(current_dir).addCallback(function(files){ parse_file_list(current_dir, files); }); start_server(); The output from this is: file assigned: /home/defrex/code/node/ejs.js file assigned: /home/defrex/code/node/templates file assigned: /home/defrex/code/node/web file assigned: /home/defrex/code/node/server.js file assigned: /home/defrex/code/node/settings.js file assigned: /home/defrex/code/node/apps file assigned: /home/defrex/code/node/dev_server.js file assigned: /home/defrex/code/node/main_urls.js stats returned: /home/defrex/code/node/main_urls.js stats returned: /home/defrex/code/node/main_urls.js stats returned: /home/defrex/code/node/main_urls.js stats returned: /home/defrex/code/node/main_urls.js stats returned: /home/defrex/code/node/main_urls.js stats returned: /home/defrex/code/node/main_urls.js stats returned: /home/defrex/code/node/main_urls.js stats returned: /home/defrex/code/node/main_urls.js For those from the future: node.devserver.js
