I read some time ago about the possibility to use media stream from a USB or rs232 device with the tag such as a webcam with HTML5?.
Is there a web browser that supports this right now?. (nighty builds of chrome, webkit...)
Thanks.
Hi folks,
currently i'm working on exposing some solr queries via web services .
The behavior should be the following:
Client makes a request: http://api.mysite.com/hottestNews?apiKey=XXX
The ws tier validates apiKey ... some aditional stuff
ws tier redirects the request to : someFinder:8080/solr/select/qt=hottestNews
The response is brought to client
Can restlet framework help me?
Thx
Hi,
I am consuming one webservice, while consuming there can different types expception might occur depeninding on various situation like.. network failur, invalid soap data or exception from serverside also might occur.
How can I differntiate between these different excpetion?
Because in my application, with these exceptions I need to update the various status Like: if network failure occurs Status will be "unable to connect webservice" so I can try after sometime later. If exception comes from Web server , no need to call/try again.
Thanks

Is it possible to perform unittest tests via a web interface...and if so how?
EDIT:
For now I want the results...for the tests I want them to be automated...possibly every time I make a change to the code. Sorry I forgot to make this more clear
I have never used DotNetNuke before. I'm thinking about giving it a try to help me build websites, and i'd like to hear from other developers who are in a position to compare DotNetNuke with other CMS's/Web Application Frameworks.
Does it have any major effect on performance/ memory if my web.config is really huge (say, 1000+ entries in <appSettings>)? Is it a good idea to maintain a different custom xml config file for all business specific settings for my app? Thanks.
Hi,
Usually I am a web developer so this is probably a very novice question. I recently made an app in VB2008, but I developed it in a huge reso (1920x1200). The person that will be using it still uses 800x600 reso. Is there any simple way I can resize the entire interface to fit any resolution? I didn't really think about it at all while I was making the program.
I've checked other questions, but I can't find a working answer
I have a .Net web application which successfully takes on the callers windows credentials (Thread.CurrentPrincipal is my windows user).
Within that app, I call to a WCF service, but my windows identity isn't passed up. Regardless of what I put in the binding:
NetTcpBinding binding = new NetTcpBinding();
binding.Security.Mode = SecurityMode.Transport;
binding.Security.Transport.ClientCredentialType = TcpClientCredentialType.Windows;
I'm interested in the history of distributed, collaborative, cross-organisational programming paradigms - web services and SOA are de-facto now, but what came before? What models have been superceded by SOA?
Thanks
does one create an admin front-end from scratch for every web application (not CMS sites)?
are there any tools for aiding this process?
some tutorials?

What is the best way to get statistics for an entire subversion repository and display some of them on a web page? Example. Total number of commits today, this month etc, most active committer etc.
I guess this may be a novice question ( Which I am :) ).
While redirecting user to custom error page, for e.g. 404, to tell that page wasn't found, the type of this redirect is 302.
<error statusCode="404" redirect="/Utility/Error404.aspx" />
<error statusCode="400" redirect="/Utility/Error404.aspx" />
Is it possible to make this redirect 301 through Web.config?
Thanks in advance to you all code maniacs.
I have a Windows Server 2003 running Mercurial's hgwebdir.cgi to serve repositories. Push/Pull etc is working as expected for existing repositories.
Currently I'm using remote desktop If I need a new repository on the server.
Is there a better way to do it? Command line, web interface, cgi?
I'd like to pass data from one asp.net page to another. I've seen that using System.Web.Caching.Cache is a good way to accomplish this. I'm wondering if it's a good way to do it and also is there any cleanup or other things I need to keep in mind when you the Cache?
I'm not passing very much, at most two integers.
Thanks.
What should I do to host on my own machine a .NET web application(ASP.NET, Silverlight) with support Sql Server and services(RIA, WCF)?
What should I install and configure so others can interact with my application via the internet ?
It's some administration API which I can install on a PC and by which I can upload my app like in professional hosting?
Thanks for the help!
Hi
