  • using javascript setTimeout to see if div has loaded

    - by Matt
I'm loading remote data using dynamic script tags and JSON. the remote page that I'm displaying on my website has a div in it that I use to load content into. The problem is the javascript functions do not see the div as the page loads because it is remote data. if I set a timeout of about 300 it usually works and my javascipt can see the div. But sometimes it takes longer and it breaks the javascript. I'm tring this: function load_content() { if(document.getElementById('remote_div')==null) { setTimeout('load_content()', 300); } else { document.getElementById('remote_div').innerHTML = 'Content goes here' } } but it just doesn't seem to work... what is wrong with it?

  • Sticky Footers that move down when dynamic content gets loaded

    - by Dominic Rodger
I've been using this snippet of jQuery to get a sticky footer: if($(document.body).height() < $(window).height()){ $("#footer").css({position: "absolute",top:($(window).scrollTop()+$(window).height()-$("#footer").height())+"px", width: "100%"}); } $(window).scroll(positionFooter).resize(positionFooter); However, that breaks when I've got expandable/collapsible divs lying around where the original content was less high than the window, since it is then stuck to the bottom of the window, rather than the bottom of the document. Is there a way of fixing this, or a better way of doing it? Please bear in mind that I don't have much control over the HTML, since I need to do this in Django's admin interface, which doesn't allow much injection of HTML in the places you might want to to accomplish this sort of thing (i.e. this answer and this answer don't work for me).

  • Creating standalone, console (shell) for domain-specific operations

    - by mr.b
Say that I have a system service, and I want to offer a low-level maintenance access to it. For that purpose, I'd like to create a standalone, console application that somehow connects to server process and lets user type in commands, allow it to use auto-completion and auto-suggestion on single/double TAB press (just like linux bash shell, mysql cli, cmd.exe, and countless others), allow command line editing capabilities (history, cursor keys to move around text..), etc. Now, it's not that much of a problem to create something like that by rolling my own from scratch, handling user input, scanning pressed keys, and doing correct actions. But, why reinvent the wheel? Is there some library/framework that helps with this kind of problems, just like readline library that offers improved command-line editing capabilities under linux? Of course, this new "shell" would respond only to valid, domain-specific commands, and would suggest valid arguments, options, switches... Any ideas? Thanks!

  • jquery onclick function not firing with rails link_to_remote

    - by RahTha
In the js file of the page, inside $(document).ready(function() {} i have $(".school a").live("click", function (e){ e.preventDefault(); ....; jsFunc(param1, param2, param3); }); Now the div with the class school has tags generated by rails link_to_remote with :url, :action, :before, :html. On clicking on this link it does all that it should do with regards to link_to_remote, but somehow the onclick event in the document.ready does not attach to it. Why would this be happening? The jsFunc all it does is post to a url async-ly, i figured out that stuffing that post url in the :before of the link_to_remote would work - but is there a more elegant way of just being able to use the attach functionality

  • Use of text() function when using xPath in dom4j

    - by jlawless
I have inherited an application that parses xml using dom4j and xPath: The xml being parsed is similar to the following: <cache> <content> <transaction> <page> <widget name="PAGE_ID">WRK_REGISTRATION</widget> <widget name="TRANS_DETAIL_ID">77145</widget> <widget name="GRD_ERRORS" /> </page> <page> <widget name="PAGE_ID">WRK_REGISTRATION</widget> <widget name="TRANS_DETAIL_ID">77147</widget> <widget name="GRD_ERRORS" /> </page> <page> <widget name="PAGE_ID">WRK_PROCESSING</widget> <widget name="TRANS_DETAIL_ID">77152</widget> <widget name="GRD_ERRORS" /> </page> </transaction> </content> </cache> Individual Nodes are being searched using the following: String xPathToGridErrorNode = "//cache/content/transaction/page/widget[@name='PAGE_ID'][text()='WRK_DNA_REGISTRATION']/../widget[@name='TRANS_DETAIL_ID'][text()='77147']/../widget[@name='GRD_ERRORS_TEMP']"; org.dom4j.Element root = null; SAXReader reader = new SAXReader(); Document document = reader.read(new BufferedInputStream(new ByteArrayInputStream(xmlToParse.getBytes()))); root = document.getRootElement(); Node gridNode = root.selectSingleNode(xPathToGridErrorNode); where xmlToParse is a String of xml similar to the excerpt provided above. The code is trying to obtain the GRD_ERROR node for the page with the PAGE_ID and TRANS_DETAIL_ID provided in the xPath. I am seeing an intermittent (~1-2%) failure (returned node is null) of this selectSingleNode request even though the requested node is in the xml being searched. I know there are some gotchas associated with using text()= in xPath and was wondering if there was a better way to format the xPath string for this type of search.

  • An Actor "queue" ?

    - by synic
In Java, to write a library that makes requests to a server, I usually implement some sort of dispatcher (not unlike the one found here in the Twitter4J library: http://github.com/yusuke/twitter4j/blob/master/twitter4j-core/src/main/java/twitter4j/internal/async/DispatcherImpl.java) to limit the number of connections, to perform asynchronous tasks, etc. The idea is that N number of threads are created. A "Task" is queued and all threads are notified, and one of the threads, when it's ready, will pop an item from the queue, do the work, and then return to a waiting state. If all the threads are busy working on a Task, then the Task is just queued, and the next available thread will take it. This keeps the max number of connections to N, and allows at most N Tasks to be operating at the same time. I'm wondering what kind of system I can create with Actors that will accomplish the same thing? Is there a way to have N number of Actors, and when a new message is ready, pass it off to an Actor to handle it - and if all Actors are busy, just queue the message?

  • How do I fix SVC-FILWRT on Windows?

    - by rajpal
I have to do some processing (enhancing metadata) on the XML document that are on my Marklogic database. For that I have created a new HTTP server that is pointing towards the database. Using that HTTP server, I write a XQuey that loop through all the XML documents in Marklogic database and send these XML documents to particular URL that reads the content from that document, append some metadata and then store back to ML. This is something I have tried on Linux platform with same version of Marklogic and it works great for me. But now, when I am trying the same on window platform (Windows 7 Enterprise addition) and it's not working. Approaches I tried to resolve that: Running Marklogic Server as "Run as Administrator". Putting HTTP server's Base directory into D:/ directory i.e. directory that does not have windows installed within it. Above same with putting forest to D:/ directory. The error on windows is: XDMP-FORESTNOT: Forest Security not available: XDMP-FORESTERR: Error in startup of forest Security: SVC-FILWRT:

  • WPF webbrowser - get HTML downloaded?

    - by Mathias Lykkegaard Lorenzen
I'm listening to the WPF webbrowser's LoadCompleted event. It has some navigation arguments which provide details regarding the navigation. However, e.Content is always null. Am I paying attention to the wrong event here? How can I fetch the HTML that was just downloaded as string? I tried some things which I would consider hacks, but they return a string of HTML, even though that was not the string downloaded. For instance, with that method when I go to a page which just sends me the string abc, I get the result <document><body>abc</body></document> or something similar. I would prefer not getting into any more hacks than nescessary to get this running.

  • Mscorcfg.msc .net Configuration Tools problem

    - by vijay shiyani
I'm trying to run Microsoft's .NET Framework Configuration Tool (Mscorcfg.msc). I have Visual Studio 2008 installed. I also have the following installed on my PC: Microsoft .Net Framework v1.0.3705 Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 Microsoft .Net Framework v4.0.30319 I'm not sure why, but I can't start "Mscorcfg.msc" the usual way (as suggested in the http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2bc0cxhc(VS.80).aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2bc0cxhc.aspx URL). I looked for "Mscorcfg.msc" on my PC and found only 1 occurence (in the C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder). When I double-click on the .msc file in Windows Explorer, I get the "MMC could not create the snap-in." message. What should I do ? Thanks

  • Developing for mobile devices and desktop

    - by Augusto
Hi, I'm starting a new project. It will run on devices running Windows CE, Windows Mobile 6 and will also have a desktop version. The software will connect to some equipments through the serial port, using it's own protocol. Basically it will: connect to the equipment send and receive info read and write binary files These tasks will be shared between desktop and mobile devices. I've been searching the information I need, but I still have some doubts: If I target Windows CE devices it will work with Windows Mobile 6 too? Creating a class library targeting Windows CE will give me any trouble on using it in the desktop version? (when I add a reference to that class library, my VS says that I could experience some unexpected results) Is it possible to install .NET CF 3.5 on devices running Windows CE 4.2? Thanks!

I am about to release my first commercial software ever. I didnt study something related to programming so i am facing a problem here, which is licensing. I am not native english speaking, so i have a little bit of a problem when i read the Apache Commons License. In my software i use the Apache Commons Math library. If i understand their FAQ i just may distribute my software if i add this (the text will come up at my "info" screen inside the app): [...] \nCopyright 2012 xxxstefplexxxx \n\n This software uses Apache Commons Math Library \nThe license can be found here: \nhttp://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0 \n

  • appending SVG string to dom

    - by Wieringen
    I'm trying to append a string of svg elements to the dom. This is my setup. var oFragment = ''; for (var i = 0; i < 10; i++) { oFragment += '<g><path id="note-1" d="M 6,3 84,6 c 0,0 -6,76 14,91 L 58,97 19,89 c 0,0 -24,-5 -13,-86 z" style="fill:#ffc835;" /></g> '; } Here is what i tried. It gives the following error: "parseXML is not defined" var oSVG = document.getElementById("svg-wall").getSVGDocument(); var oNotes = oSVG.getElementById('notes'); oNotes.appendChild(parseXML(oFragment, document)); So my question is what am i doing wrong and is this even the best way to append a svg string to the dom?

  • C++ threaded class design from non-threaded class

    - by macs
I'm working on a library doing audio encoding/decoding. The encoder shall be able to use multiple cores (i.e. multiple threads, using boost library), if available. What i have right now is a class that performs all encoding-relevant operations. The next step i want to take is to make that class threaded. So i'm wondering how to do this. I thought about writing a thread-class, creating n threads for n cores and then calling the encoder with the appropriate arguments. But maybe this is an overkill and there is no need for another class, so i'm going to make use of the "user interface" for thread-creation. I hope there are any suggestions.

  • C++ Asymptotic Profiling

    - by Travis
I have a performance issue where I suspect one standard C library function is taking too long and causing my entire system (suite of processes) to basically "hiccup". Sure enough if I comment out the library function call, the hiccup goes away. This prompted me to investigate what standard methods there are to prove this type of thing? What would be the best practice for testing a function to see if it causes an entire system to hang for a sec (causing other processes to be momentarily starved)? I would at least like to definitively correlate the function being called and the visible freeze. Thanks

  • Google Chart Number formatting

I need to format my pie and column charts to show the $ and comma in currency format ($###,###) when you hover over the charts. Right now, it is displaying the number and percentage but the number as #####.## here is my code. • Using libgrib2c in c++ application, linker error "Undefined reference to..."

    - by Rich
EDIT: If you're going to be doing things with GRIB files I would recommend the GDAL library which is backed by the Open Source Geospatial Foundation. You will save yourself a lot of headache :) I'm using Qt creator in Ubuntu creating a c++ app. I am attempting to use an external lib, libgrib2c.a, that has a header grib2.h. Everything compiles, but when it tries to link I get the error: undefined reference to 'seekgb(_IO_FILE*, long, long, long*, long*) I have tried wrapping the header file with: extern "C"{ #include "grib2.h" } But it didn't fix anything so I figured that was not my problem. In the .pro file I have the line: include($${ROOT}/Shared/common/commonLibs.pri) and in commonLibs.pri I have: INCLUDEPATH+=$${ROOT}/external_libs/g2clib/include LIBS+=-L$${ROOT}/external_libs/g2clib/lib LIBS+=-lgrib2c I am not encountering an error finding the library. If I do a nm command on the libgrib2c.a I get: nm libgrib2c.a | grep seekgb seekgb.o: 00000000 T seekgb And when I run qmake with the additional argument of LIBS+=-Wl,--verbose I can find the lib file in the output: attempt to open /usr/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open /usr/lib/libgrib2c.a failed attempt to open /mnt/sdb1/ESMF/App/ESMF_App/../external_libs/linux/qwt_6.0.2/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open /mnt/sdb1/ESMF/App/ESMF_App/../external_libs/linux/qwt_6.0.2/lib/libgrib2c.a failed attempt to open ..//Shared/Config/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open ..//Shared/Config/lib/libgrib2c.a failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/libssh2/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/libssh2/lib/libgrib2c.a failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/openssl/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/openssl/lib/libgrib2c.a failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/g2clib/lib/libgrib2c.so failed attempt to open ..//external_libs/g2clib/lib/libgrib2c.a succeeded Although it doesn't show any of the .o files in the library is this because it is a c library in my c++ app? in the .cpp file that I am trying to use the library I have: #include "gribreader.h" #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <external_libs/g2clib/include/grib2.h> #include <Shared/logging/Logger.hpp> //------------------------------------------------------------------------------ /// Opens a GRIB file from disk. /// /// This function opens the grib file and searches through it for how many GRIB /// messages are contained as well as their starting locations. /// /// \param a_filePath. • Static source code analysis with LLVM

    - by Phong
I recently discover the LLVM (low level virtual machine) project, and from what I have heard It can be used to performed static analysis on a source code. I would like to know if it is possible to extract the different function call through function pointer (find the caller function and the callee function) in a program. I could find the kind of information in the website so it would be really helpful if you could tell me if such an library already exist in LLVM or can you point me to the good direction on how to build it myself (existing source code, reference, tutorial, example...). EDIT: With my analysis I actually want to extract caller/callee function call. In the case of a function pointer, I would like to return a set of possible callee. both caller and callee must be define in the source code (this does not include third party function in a library).

  • Are there any e-commerce websites that use NoSQL databases

    - by Saif Bechan
I have read a lot lately about 'NoSQL' databases such as CouchDB, MongoDB etc. Most of the websites I have seen using this are mainly text based websites such as The New York Times and Source forge. I was wondering if you could apply this to websites where payment is a huge issue. I am thinking of the following issues: How well can you secure the data Do these system provide an easy backup/restore machanism How are transactions handled commit/rollback I have read the following articles that cover some aspects: Can I do transactions and locks in CouchDB? Pros/Cons of document based database vs relational database In these posts the aspect of transactions if covered. However the questions of security and backups is not covered. Can someone shed some light on this subject? And if possible, does anyone know of some e-commerce websites that have successfully implemented the document based database.

  • View plain text files with different background colors in Mac OSX, for different programming languag

    - by Werner
Hi, I work with Mac OS X Leopard. I usually have 5 or 10 text files opened at the same time with different programming languages; one for a bash script, another for a python one, etc. When I use exposé all of them look the same, so it is difficult to select them. I wonder how could I work with just plain text files in OSX, so when they are opened in an editor the background color changes or some other thign, so when using exposé it is clear to me which window belongs to what language. I thought about inserting some kind of info to the last line of each document, and then creat some applescript that converts it to RTF or someother text document which includes color in bacjground, so then it is opened with textmate or someother app. Do you know a better approach for this? Thanks

  • Get starting and end index of a highlighted fragment in a searched field

"My search returns a highlighted fragment from a field. I want to know that in that field of particular searched document, where does that fragment starts and ends ?" for instance. consider i am searching "highlighted fragment" in above lines (consider the above para as single document). I am setting my fragmenter as : SimpleFragmenter fragmenter = new SimpleFragmenter(30); now the output of GetBestFragment is somewhat like : "returns a highlighted fragment from" Is it possible to get the starting and ending index of this fragment in the text above (say starting is 10 and ending is 45)

  • How to iterate javascript object properties in the order they were written.

    - by Jenea
Hi. I identified a bug in my code which I hope to solve with minimal refactoring effort. This bug occurs in Chrome and Opera browsers. Problem: var obj = {23:"AA",12:"BB"}; //iterating through obj's properties for(i in obj) document.write("Key: "+i +" "+"Value: "+obj[i]); Output in FF,IE Key: 23 Value: AA Key: 12 Value: BB Output in Opera and Chrome (Wrong) Key: 12 Value BB Key: 23 Value AA I attempted to make an inverse ordered object like this var obj1={"AA":23,"BB":12}; for(i in obj1) document.write("Key: "+obj[i] +" "+"Value: "+i); However the output is the same. Is there a way to get for all browser the same behaviour with small changes?

  • Javascript one-liners

    - by peoro
Often I find some really cool javascript one liners that you can copy and paste into your browser address bar in order to get some fancy effects or even useful ones. This, for example, will let you edit anything on the page. javascript:document.body.contentEditable='true'; document.designMode='on'; void 0 What is your favorite? EDIT: I know that technically all these snippets are just javascript scripts that gets evaluated by the browser as if they were defined in the page. I also know that many browsers have got extensions to let you run javascript code (also letting you store scripts somewhere, providing a good editor etc etc). However that's not so practical; I'm not a javascript developer, haven't got firebug installed, and I can't install it anywhere I go. My idea idea is that of collecting the best "mini-scripts" that whoever can just copy and paste in his browser without the need of installing extensions and stuff.
