  • Public class: The best way to store and access NSMutableDictionary?

    - by meridimus
    I have a class to help me store persistent data across sessions. The problem is I want to store a running sample of the property list or "plist" file in an NSMutableArray throughout the instance of the Persistance class so I can read and edit the values and write them back when I need to. The problem is, as the methods are publicly defined I cannot seem to access the declared NSMutableDictionary without errors. The particular error I get on compilation is: warning: 'Persistence' may not respond to '+saveData' So it kind of renders my entire process unusable until I work out this problem. Here is my full persistence class (please note, it's unfinished so it's just to show this problem): Persistence.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #define kSaveFilename @"saveData.plist" @interface Persistence : NSObject { NSMutableDictionary *saveData; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableDictionary *saveData; + (NSString *)dataFilePath; + (NSDictionary *)getSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level; + (void)writeSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level withData:(NSDictionary *)saveData; + (NSString *)makeCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevelKey:(NSUInteger)level; @end Persistence.m #import "Persistence.h" @implementation Persistence @synthesize saveData; + (NSString *)dataFilePath { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; return [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kSaveFilename]; } + (NSDictionary *)getSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level { NSString *filePath = [self dataFilePath]; if([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:filePath]) { NSLog(@"File found"); [[self saveData] setDictionary:[[NSDictionary alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:filePath]]; // This is where the warning "warning: 'Persistence' may not respond to '+saveData'" occurs NSString *campaignAndLevelKey = [self makeCampaign:campaign andLevelKey:level]; NSDictionary *campaignAndLevelData = [[self saveData] objectForKey:campaignAndLevelKey]; return campaignAndLevelData; } else { return nil; } } + (void)writeSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level withData:(NSDictionary *)saveData { NSString *campaignAndLevelKey = [self makeCampaign:campaign andLevelKey:level]; NSDictionary *saveDataWithKey = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:saveData, campaignAndLevelKey, nil]; //[campaignAndLevelKey release]; [saveDataWithKey writeToFile:[self dataFilePath] atomically:YES]; } + (NSString *)makeCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevelKey:(NSUInteger)level { return [[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d - ", campaign+1] stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", level+1]]; } @end I call this class like any other, by including the header file in my desired location: @import "Persistence.h" Then I call the function itself like so: NSDictionary *tempSaveData = [[NSDictionary alloc] [Persistence getSaveWithCampaign:currentCampaign andLevel:currentLevel]];

  • How to add string to jQuery selector?

    - by Deshiknaves
I'm trying to select an id that changes on different posts of same page. So the they have been given an id="show_posts_{PostID}" - on the final output the {PostID} is replaced with a number. In the function I need to call $('show_posts_XXXXXX') - XXXXXX being the generated ID. I have stored this ID in a variable called postId. But I can't seem to do this $("'" + "show_posts_" + postId + "'") Can anyone tell me how I can add a string to the end of a selector?

  • SwapBuffers causes redraw

    - by user146780
I'm making a Win32 application with OpenGL in the main window (not using GLUT). I have my drawing code in WM_PAINT right now when I call swapBuffers it must be invalidating itself because it is constantly rerendering and using lots of cpu resources. How can I make it only render when it honestly receives WM_PAINT like when using GDI? Thanks

  • Use OpenOffice to do server-side ppt(x) to swf conversion

    - by Steven Xu
I'd like to turn Powerpoint presentations to SWF files the same way that OpenOffice does it, except automatically through a command line call. I came across http://stackoverflow.com/questions/886144, which led me to explore PyUNO bridge, which comes with OpenOffice as well as the OpenOffice command line API, but I wasn't able to make anything productive of it. Any guidance is appreciated. If there is a good solution outside of OpenOffice, I would be happy to try it too.

  • How is thread local storage (__thread) implemented on LInux?

    - by anon
__thread Foo foo; How is "foo" actually resolved? Does the compiler silently replace every instance of "foo" with a function call? Is "foo" stored somewhere relative to the bottom of the stack, and the compiler stores this as "hey, for each thread, have this space near the bottom of the stack, and foo is stored as "offset x from bottom of stack"" ? Insights please.

  • Access 2007 can I capture the "clicked" field using an OnClick event on a report?

    - by Aaron Quince
In Access 2007 I want to be able to click on a name field in a report and call a separate report with personal information about the person who's name was clicked to start the event. This would be as an alternative to creating a subreport or including the subreport fields in the main report in the interest of saving space. How do I reference the value of the clicked field for use in a query called with the OnClick event? Thanks for your help.

  • How does a GUI Framework work?

    - by AlexW.H.B.
I have been all over the web looking for an answer to this, and my question is this: How does a GUI framework work? for instance how does Qt work, is there any books or wibsites on the topic of writing a GUI framework from scratch? and also does the framework have to call methods from the operating systems GUI framework? -- Thank you to any one who takes the time to try to answer this question, and forgive me if i misspelled anything.

  • Some clarification on rvalue references

    - by Dennis Zickefoose
First: where are std::move and std::forward defined? I know what they do, but I can't find proof that any standard header is required to include them. In gcc44 sometimes std::move is available, and sometimes its not, so a definitive include directive would be useful. When implementing move semantics, the source is presumably left in an undefined state. Should this state necessarily be a valid state for the object? Obviously, you need to be able to call the object's destructor, and be able to assign to it by whatever means the class exposes. But should other operations be valid? I suppose what I'm asking is, if your class guarantees certain invariants, should you strive to enforce those invariants when the user has said they don't care about them anymore? Next: when you don't care about move semantics, are there any limitations that would cause a non-const reference to be preferred over an rvalue reference when dealing with function parameters? void function(T&); over void function(T&&); From a caller's perspective, being able to pass functions temporary values is occasionally useful, so it seems as though one should grant that option whenever it is feasible to do so. And rvalue references are themselves lvalues, so you can't inadvertently call a move-constructor instead of a copy-constructor, or something like that. I don't see a downside, but I'm sure there is one. Which brings me to my final question. You still can not bind temporaries to non-const references. But you can bind them to non-const rvalue references. And you can then pass along that reference as a non-const reference in another function. void function1(int& r) { r++; } void function2(int&& r) { function1(r); } int main() { function1(5); //bad function2(5); //good } Besides the fact that it doesn't do anything, is there anything wrong with that code? My gut says of course not, since changing rvalue references is kind of the whole point to their existence. And if the passed value is legitimately const, the compiler will catch it and yell at you. But by all appearances, this is a runaround of a mechanism that was presumably put in place for a reason, so I'd just like confirmation that I'm not doing anything foolish.

  • Using jQuery's ajax get request with parameters, returning page content

    - by Stevie Jenowski
Thank you for looking at my question, as I appreciate your time. Okay, so I'm trying to use jQuery's get function to call my php script which ultimately returns a variable which is a built template of the main content of my page minus my static header/footer, for which I would like to replace the "old" page content without the page reloading. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I'm going wrong here? My code is as follows... jQuery: function getData(time, type) { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "getData.php", data: "time=" + time + "&type=" + type, success: function(data){ $('#pageContent').fadeOut("slow"); $('#pageContent').html(data); $('#pageContent').fadeIn("slow"); } }); return false; } getData.php(paraphrased): .... $time = empty($_GET['time']) ? '' : $_GET['time']; $type = empty($_GET['type']) ? '' : $_GET['type']; echo getData($time, $type); function getData($time, $type) ...... ..... $tmpl = new Template(); $tmpl->time= $time; $tmpl->type = $type; $builtpage = $tmpl->build('index.tmpl'); return $builtpage; ..... ...... jQuery function call: <a href="#" onclick="getData("<?php print $tmpl->time; ?>", "Orange")">Orange</a> <a href="#" onclick="getData("<?php print $tmpl->time; ?>", "Apple")">Apple</a> <a href="#" onclick="getData("<?php print $tmpl->time; ?>", "Banana")">Banana</a> When I click any link, the ajax seems to run fine, and the page does refuse to reload, but the content still remains unchanged... Anyone happen to know what's up?

  • Calling a function within a class

    - by JM4
    I am having trouble calling a specific function within a class. The call is made: case "Mod10": if (!validateCreditCard($fields[$field_name])) $errors[] = $error_message; break; and the class code is: class CreditCardValidationSolution { var $CCVSNumber = ''; var $CCVSNumberLeft = ''; var $CCVSNumberRight = ''; var $CCVSType = ''; var $CCVSError = ''; function validateCreditCard($Number) { $this->CCVSNumber = ''; $this->CCVSNumberLeft = ''; $this->CCVSNumberRight = ''; $this->CCVSType = ''; $this->CCVSError = ''; // Catch malformed input. if (empty($Number) || !is_string($Number)) { $this->CCVSError = $CCVSErrNumberString; return FALSE; } // Ensure number doesn't overrun. $Number = substr($Number, 0, 20); // Remove non-numeric characters. $this->CCVSNumber = preg_replace('/[^0-9]/', '', $Number); // Set up variables. $this->CCVSNumberLeft = substr($this->CCVSNumber, 0, 4); $this->CCVSNumberRight = substr($this->CCVSNumber, -4); $NumberLength = strlen($this->CCVSNumber); $DoChecksum = 'Y'; // Mod10 checksum process... if ($DoChecksum == 'Y') { $Checksum = 0; // Add even digits in even length strings or odd digits in odd length strings. for ($Location = 1 - ($NumberLength % 2); $Location < $NumberLength; $Location += 2) { $Checksum += substr($this->CCVSNumber, $Location, 1); } // Analyze odd digits in even length strings or even digits in odd length strings. for ($Location = ($NumberLength % 2); $Location < $NumberLength; $Location += 2) { $Digit = substr($this->CCVSNumber, $Location, 1) * 2; if ($Digit < 10) { $Checksum += $Digit; } else { $Checksum += $Digit - 9; } } // Checksums not divisible by 10 are bad. if ($Checksum % 10 != 0) { $this->CCVSError = $CCVSErrChecksum; return FALSE; } } return TRUE; } } When I run the application - I get the following message: Fatal error: Call to undefined function validateCreditCard() in C:\xampp\htdocs\validation.php on line 339 any ideas?

  • Double request from mod-rewrite

    - by Dave
I've written a module that sets Apache environment variables to be used by mod-rewrite. It hooks into ap_hook_post_read_request() and that works fine, but if mod-rewrite matches a RewriteRule then it makes a second call to my request handler with the rewritten URL. This looks like a new request to me in that the environment variables are no longer set and therefore I have to execute my (expensive) code twice for each hit. What am I doing wrong, or is there a work around for this? Thanks

  • Javascript/jQuery HasLoaded or equivalent?

    - by maxp
I know in jquery it is possible to call the javascript/jquery onload()/load() functions on, for example an image (<img>). However, if in jquery if i use .html(htmlString) to insert an image after the dom has loaded, how can i add a listener to handle the images onload event? Is there a property I can check to see various images and if they have loaded?

  • How to check if Thread finished execution

    - by user295502
I have following problem: I want to check (C#) if thread has finished execution, i.e. if the thread method returned. What I do now is call Thread.Join(1), but this gives 1 ms delay. Is there any way to simply check if thread finished. Inspecting Thread.ThreadState just seems too cumbersome.

  • Difference between Python urllib.urlretrieve() and wget

    - by jrdioko
I am trying to retrieve a 500mb file using Python, and I have a script which uses urllib.urlretrieve(). There seems to some network problem between me and the download site, as this call consistently hangs and fails to complete. However, using wget to retrieve the file tends to work without problems. What is the difference between urlretrieve() and wget that could cause this difference?
