  • Apache has no rights to unzip file uploaded by DirectAdmin created FTP user

    - by FlyOn
I know similar things have been asked a thousandfold, but I can't seem to figure it out.. I have recently started renting a VPS. It runs DirectAdmin. I created a reseller account in the admin account, and created a new user (with FTP account) with the reseller account. I logged in with FTP as the created user and uploaded a zip file and a php file which will extract the zip. But when running the script in the browser I get "Permission denied" errors however. Probably because Apache is not in the same group as the users FTP account. Now my question is: How can I solve this once and for all, so that I don't have to do it again for every new user account I create through DirectAdmin?

  • Windows program to remove titlebar, frame, etc from a window?

    - by Nelson
I like playing computer games in windowed mode, as opposed to full screen. I don't like staring at the title bar, frame, and other UI junk. I also don't like seeing other stuff on my desktop around the window. Is there a simple Windows program that will strip the UI chrome off of an arbitrary window from some other application? Extra points for an easy way to put a black screen underneath the window, hiding the desktop. Note: I'm looking specifically to handle windows that are smaller than my desktop size. There's a variety of 'windowed maximized' options that make a window exactly the desktop size, and positioned so all the UI decorations are off screen. (E.g.: ShiftWindow). I'm trying to strip all the decorations away from a window that's smaller than desktop size.

  • User account restriction error and unable to access share

    - by user44394
I have a windows share with full control granted to individual domain user accounts on the share and security permission. Whenever the user attempts to browse to the share they receive the error: Logon failure user account restriction. Possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced. If the users are added to the administrators group on this machine they are able to browse the share without issue. What do I need to change to allow them access to the share without being administrators on that machine?

  • Per-user vhost logging

    - by kojiro
I have a working per-user virtual host configuration with Apache, but I would like each user to have access to the logs for his virtual hosts. Obviously the ErrorLog and CustomLog directives don't accept the wildcard syntax that VirtualDocumentRoot does, but is there a way to achieve logs in each user's directory? <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName *.example.com ServerAdmin [email protected] VirtualDocumentRoot /home/%2/projects/%1 <Directory /home/*/projects/> Options FollowSymlinks Indexes IndexOptions FancyIndexing FoldersFirst AllowOverride All Order Allow,Deny Allow From All Satisfy Any </Directory> Alias /favicon.ico /var/www/default/favicon.ico Alias /robots.txt /var/www/default/robots.txt LogLevel warn # ErrorLog /home/%2/logs/%1.error.log # CustomLog /home/%2/logs/%1.access.log combined </VirtualHost>

  • Trying to mount an NFS directory from a Mac with another user

    - by Yair
I have a username on an ubuntu server, lets call it user a. I want to mount a directory from that server to my Mac, on which I have another username, lets call it user b. My problem is that, after I mount the directory (using the disk utility app) I can view files on the server but can't modify or create new files on it. I checked, and if I change the permissions of the server directory so that its open to everyone (chmod 777), I can write to it. So what I need to know, is how can I specify the username and password in the NFS client when setting up the mount? That is, I want to specify that I'm trying to log in as user a to the server.

  • svnserve, Mac OS X Lion Server and user accounts

    - by Casper
I am trying to use the "built-in" user accounts of my Mac OS X Lion server to grant access to repositories. Currently I am using the conf/passwd file (which works), but I don't like the fact that the passwords are visible as plain text. Is there a way to "connect" the svnserve access restriction to the normal user accounts that are already on the system? Thanks PS: I am not wanting to connect via Apache/WebDav - there I know it works. I want to connect via svn:// using the existing user accounts.

  • Authentication through mod_auth_kerb should provide website with no user if no TGT provided

    - by loomi
Users are authenticated by mod_auth_kerb which works great. Therefore I need to set Require valid-user If there is no valid user Apache fails with an 401 Authorization Required. I would like Apache to deliver the website anyway but not providing a remote_user to the underlying script. This is related to How to tell mod_auth_kerb to do its job despite no "require valid-user". But with the important difference that on a whole subdirectory on every url a kerberos negotation should be initiated, and if it fails it should deliver the content anyway.

I've tried a few things i found on the internet, but to no avail.

  • cygwin: ~ != $HOME

    - by user443854
When I start cygwin, my ~ dir is the same as $HOME. After some time, ~ dir changs, while $HOME stays the same. I am puzzled by this, not sure where to look. Maybe someone experienced this, or has some clue what's going on? When I start: winuser@mybox ~ $ echo $HOME /cygdrive/c/cyguser winuser@mybox ~ $ echo ~ /cygdrive/c/cyguser Later, ~ changes to /cygdrive/c/winuser, which is non-existent. When I restart cygwin, everything is back to normal. What could be causing this?

  • Is there a way to manage browser [chrome] session cookies with a fast toggle for multiple users?

    - by ResoluteHiker
I feel I should go into more detail. My wife and I share a laptop and browse email. Currently we keep coming back to each others gmail accounts, having to log out and log back in. Are there any good extensions or addons that would allow us to toggle back and forth between these? This does not necessarily need to apply to just gmail but include any cookie, session, etc. I'd be willing to use Firefox if such an extension exists on it as well. Much appreciated!

  • Do email providers have to tell me which (inter)national agencies/institutes are requesting legal access to my account data?

    - by Juve
I know this question is not technical, but i did not find the "stackoverflow for legal issues" and I guess all you super users out there might know the answer. Here is my (potential) problem: I have a free email account at a (inter)national email provider. I used the words "wikileaks" and "twitter" lately in my email. Some over-ambitious national security organization legally requests access to all accounts that behaved similarly. Q1: Can I request the who-, when-, and why-information related to this legal request from my provider? Does he have to tell me which (inter)national organizations (legally) requested my account data? Q2: Does the situation change if I live in Germany (and have a German provider)? I guess here are some German users. And I know that such a legal policy exists for our national credit rating agency. I can request who got access to my data, they have to tell me. Please answer only if you know a good answer, I don't want to start a long discussion on this none-technical question. Best regards, Juve

  • Using Exception Handler in an ADF Task Flow

    - by anmprs
Problem Statement: Exception thrown in a task flow gets wrapped in an exception that gives an unintelligible error message to the user. Figure 1 Solution 1. Over-writing the error message with a user-friendly error message. Figure 2 Steps to code 1. Generating an exception: Write a method that throws an exception and drop it in the task flow.2. Adding an Exception Handler: Write a method (example below) to overwrite the Error in the bean or data control and drop the method in the task flow. Figure 3 This method is marked as the Exception Handler by Right-Click on method > Mark Activity> Exception Handler or by the button that is displayed in this screenshot Figure 4 The Final task flow should look like this. This will overwrite the exception with the error message in figure 2. Note: There is no need for a control flow between the two method calls (as shown below). Figure 5 Solution 2: Re-Routing the task flow to display an error page Figure 6 Steps to code 1. This is the same as step 1 of solution 1.2. Adding an Exception Handler: The Exception handler is not always a method; in this case it is implemented on a task flow return.  The task flow looks like this. Figure 7 In the figure below you will notice that the task flow return points to a control flow ‘error’ in the calling task flow. Figure 8 This control flow in turn goes to a view ‘error.jsff’ which contains the error message that one wishes to display.  This can be seen in the figure below. (‘withErrorHandling’ is a  call to the task flow in figure 7) Figure 9

  • PeopleSoft 8.52 iPad Certification

    - by Dave Bain
One of the real gems in the PeopleTools 8.52 release is the certification of PeopleSoft applications running in the Safari Browser on an iPad.  It is nice that PeopleSoft is not constrained by technology like Adobe Flex/Flash, so announcements like this "Adobe drops plans for mobile Flash support" do not limit our mobile solution to custom mobile development. There are parts of PeopleSoft applications that operate better on iPads than others.  One of the best is Workcenters.  Workcenters were new to PeopleTools 8.51 and we are starting to see more and more adoption of them.  Workcenters are roll based landing pages that eliminate difficult navigation by providing access to most links, pages, and reports a user in a role needs.  One of the nicest I’ve seen is the Supply Manager Workspace.  Here are some links to screenshots of what a WorkCenter looks like on an iPad: Here's the standard PeopleSoft Login Page The Supply Manager Workspace looks great full screen on an iPad iPad has a great user interface to zoom, here's a screenshot of an upclose view of an analytic. Touch one of the analytics and it drills into the details. Go ahead and give it a try.  WorkCenters and Dashboards are starting to show up across applications.  For a quick one to try, navigate to the PeopleTools->Integration Broker->Integration Network WorkCenter.  It’s new in PeopleTools 8.52.

  • The Home Stretch: NetBeans IDE 7.1 Release Candidate

    - by TinuA
The first release candidate build of NetBeans IDE 7.1 is live and available for download, which means the big release (GA) is expected any day soon.NetBeans IDE 7.1 delivers support for JavaFX 2.0, enabling the full compile, debug and profile development cycle for JavaFX 2.0 applications and keeping developers in sync with the latest from the Java platform. Beyond JavaFX support, 7.1 also provides significant Swing GUI Builder enhancements, CSS3 support, and visual debugging tools for JavaFX and Swing user interfaces. And Git--a much anticipated featured--has been integrated into the IDE."The entire NetBeans team is tremendously excited about this release, which provides developers with more state-of-the-art tools for building front-end clients," says NetBeans Engineering Director John Jullion-Ceccarelli. "Whether you are doing JavaFX, HTML5, Swing, or JSF, NetBeans 7.1 will let you quickly and easily develop great-looking and full-featured clients for your Java or PHP-based applications."But there's one more task to check off before the general availability: The NetBeans team has launched a Community Acceptance Survey to get user feedback about the release candidate. Download the RC build, test it and take the survey to let the team know if NetBeans IDE 7.1 is ready for its debut!

  • JavaOne LAD Call for Papers

    - by Tori Wieldt
JavaOne LAD Call for Papers closes next Friday, October 4. Here are Java Evangelist Steven Chin's top three reasons why you submit a session:1) Imagine a parallel world where Java is king. Where the government has mandated that all software be open-source and recognized Java as an official platform. That is exactly what happened in Brazil and it shows in all aspects of their country from government systems to TV standards.2) A JUG in Every Village - Brazil has the most user groups of any country in the world by a significant margin. "I've stayed after JavaOne to visit several cities and gotten a great audience whether it was a large city like Brasilia or Goiania, or a coastal town like Fortaleza, Salvador, or Maceio," Chin explains.3) A Community-Supported Conference - SouJava and the entire Brazilian user group community is active and involved with JavaOne Brazil, making it a really engaging regional JavaOne conference. Submissions should be: From the community, all proposals should be non-Oracle. Java-related topics (not technologies such as Flex, .NET, Objective C, etc... unless it's specifically a topic about how such things INTEGRATE with Java) Non-product pitches Interesting/innovative uses of Java Practical relevant case studies/examples/practices/etc. The call for papers will close on Friday, October 4, 2012 at 11:59 pm local time. We look forward to hearing from you!

  • Can't mass-assign protected attributes -- unsolved issue

    - by nfriend21
I have read about 10 different posts here about this problem, and I have tried every single one and the error will not go away. So here goes: I am trying to have a nested form on my users/new page, where it accepts user-attributes and also company-attributes.
