    - by Mohit Kumar
    $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: path, data: '{AreaID: ' + parentDropdownList.val() + '}', contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', dataType: 'json', success: function(response) { } }); In above code I am using type: 'POST'. My senior told me that I also can use 'GET' in type. But dint find the difference between 'POST' and 'GET' and I also want to know what is the use of type, contentType, and dataType. Could anyone one explain me why we use these type, contentType and dataType. Thanks in advance.

  • MySQL Query: Winning Auction Bid

    - by mabwi
    I have a small Bidding system that I'm using for a fantasy auction draft. I'm trying to use the below query to pull up the max bids on each player. However, it's not actually giving me the max bid, it's just giving me the first one entered in to the database. SELECT Bid.id FROM bids AS Bid WHERE Bid.active =1 GROUP BY player_id HAVING MAX( Bid.amount ) Here's the Bid table layout, in case it helps: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `bids` ( `id` int(10) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `user_id` int(10) NOT NULL, `player_id` int(10) NOT NULL, `amount` int(6) NOT NULL, `timestamp` timestamp NOT NULL DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, `winning_bid` int(1) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0', `active` int(1) NOT NULL DEFAULT '1', PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 ;

  • PUT parameters not working in python / google app engine

    - by magegu
    hi, i'm working on a simple RESTful webservice with python with the webapp framework on the google app engine. Basically i'm sending all request via AJAX/jquery - for POST it works like a charm, but when I'm sending data with PUT, the parameters are empty / not processed. this is my PUT: $.ajax({ type: "PUT", url: "/boxes", data: { name: this.name, archived: this.archived }, success: function(msg){ } }); firebug saids i'm putting: Parameter application/x-www-form-urlencoded archived false name 123112323asdasd but using this python code: from google.appengine.ext import webapp from google.appengine.ext.webapp import util, template from google.appengine.ext import db from google.appengine.api.datastore_types import * from django.utils import simplejson as json import cgi import datetime class BoxHandler(webapp.RequestHandler): def post(self): #working print "test" self.response.out.write(self.request.get("name")) def put(self): print "test" #not working self.response.out.write(self.request.get("name")) will just return test Status: 200 OK Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Cache-Control: no-cache Expires: Fri, 01 Jan 1990 00:00:00 GMT Content-Length: 0 so .. hm, is there anything i'm missing here? cheers, Martin

  • Unicode and PHP - am I doing something wrong?

    - by alex
    I'm using Kohana 3, which has full support for Unicode. I have this as the first child of my <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> The Unicode character I am inserting into is é as in Café. However, I am getting the triangle with a ? (as in could not decode character). As far as I can tell in my own code, I am not doing any string manipulation on the text. In fact, I have placed the accent straight into a view's PHP file and it is still not working. I copied the character from this page: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/00e9/index.htm I've only just started examining PHP's Unicode limitations, so I could be doing something horribly wrong. So, how do I display this character? Do I need to resort to the HTML entity?

  • Why does Java force user-agent through simple Socket IO?

    - by Zombies
    I am using nothing but raw Socket IO. There isn't one HttpURLConnection nor any http client libs in my project. When I run it through wireshark I see somethign very revealing: GET / HTTP/1.1 User-Agent: Java/1.6.0_15 Host: www.google.com Accept: text/html, image/gif, image/jpeg, *; q=.2, */*; q=.2 Connection: keep-alive Here is the crazy part, I never put ANY of that in my original request. My original request was: "GET http://www.google.com/ HTTP/1.1\r\n" + "Host: www.google.com\r\n" + "User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100214 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.8\r\n" + "Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8\r\n" + "Accept-Language: en-us,en;q=0.5\r\n" + "Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7\r\n" + "Keep-Alive: 300\r\n" + "\r\n"; I am using the default Sun JVM.

  • Hibernate doesn't generate cascade

    - by Shervin
    Hi. I have a set hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto to create so that Hibernate creates the tables in mysql for me. However, it doesn't seem that hibernate correctly adds Cascade on the references in the table. It does however work when I for instance delete a row, and I have a delete cascade as hibernate annotation. So I guess that means that Hibernate reads the annoation on runtime, and perform cascading manually? Is that normal behavior? For instance: @Entity class Report { @OneToOne(cascade = CascadeType.ALL) public File getPdf() { return pdf; } } Here I have set cascade to ALL. However, when running show create table Report Report | CREATE TABLE `Report` ( `id` bigint(20) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `pdf_id` bigint(20) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`), KEY `FK91B14154FDE6543A` (`pdf_id`), CONSTRAINT `FK91B14154FDE6543A` FOREIGN KEY (`pdf_id`) REFERENCES `File` (`id`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 | It doesn't say anything about cascading other then the foreign key. In my opinion, it should have added the ON DELETE CASCADE ON DELETE UPDATE

  • How to debug when CakePHP Model::save() doesn't attempt an INSERT

    - by RyOnLife
    I am having a bear of a time saving the simplest record from a model called ItemView: if($this->save($this->data)) { echo 'worked'; } else { echo 'failed'; } Where $this-data is: Array ( [ItemView] => Array ( [list_id] => 1 [user_id] => 1 ) ) And my table is: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `item_views` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, `list_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `user_id` int(11) default NULL, `user_ip` int(10) unsigned default NULL, `created` datetime NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 ROW_FORMAT=FIXED AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ; Looking at the query dump in debug mode, Cake isn't even attempting an INSERT, so I have no idea how to debug. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Is there a way in CXF to disable the SoapCompressed header for debugging purposes?

    - by Don Branson
    I'm watching CXF service traffic using DonsProxy, and the CXF client sends an HTTP header "SoapCompressed": HttpHeadSubscriber starting... Sender is CLIENT at 127.0.0.1:2680 Packet ID:0-1 POST /yada/yada HTTP/1.1 Content-Type: text/xml; charset=UTF-8 SoapCompressed: true Accept-Encoding: gzip,gzip;q=1.0, identity; q=0.5, *;q=0 SOAPAction: "" Accept: */* User-Agent: Apache CXF 2.2 Cache-Control: no-cache Pragma: no-cache Host: localhost:9090 Connection: keep-alive Transfer-Encoding: chunked I'd like to turn SoapCompressed off in my dev environment so that I can see the SOAP on the wire. I've searched Google and grepped the CXF source code, but don't see anything in the docs or code that reference this. Any idea how to make the client send "SoapCompressed: off" instead, without routing it through Apache HTTPD or the like? Is there a way to configure it at the CXF client, in other words?

  • Specify only the second parameter in a javascript function

    - by Ben McCormack
    The spec for the jQuery ajax.error function is: error(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown)Function I'm trying to catch the error and display the textStatus, but I can't figure out how to specify only the textStatus without having to put in a variable name for XMLHttpRequest and errorThrown. My code currently looks like this: $.ajax({ type: "POST", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", url: hbAddressValidation.webServiceUrl, data: this.jsonRequest, dataType: "json", timeout: 5, success: function (msgd) { //... }, error: function (a,textStatus,b) { $("#txtAjaxError").val("There was an error in the AJAX call: " + textStatus); } }); You can see in my code that I'm putting variables a and b as placeholders for the first and last variables in the error function. I know that in my success function, I'm only providing one parameter and it works fine, but in that case data is the first parameter. In the case of error, textStatus is the second parameter, but that's the only one I want to specify. Is this possible?

  • Delete all but 5 newest entries in MySQL table

    - by manyxcxi
    I currently have PHP code that handles the logic for this because I do not know how to handle it in SQL. I want to create a stored procedure that will select all the elements in a table for a given run_id and delete all of them except for the 'newest' 5 entries (as noted by the stop_time column). CREATE TABLE `TAA`.`RunHistory` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, `start_time` datetime default NULL, `stop_time` datetime default NULL, `success_lines` int(11) default NULL, `error_lines` int(11) default NULL, `config_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `file_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `notes` text NOT NULL, `log_file` longblob, `save` tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '0', PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB AUTO_INCREMENT=128 DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8;

  • Google App Engine: lose CSS on deployment?

  • Jquery - How to make $.post() use contentType=application/json?

    - by JK.
    I've noticed that when using $.post() in jquery that the default contentType is application/x-www-form-urlencoded - when my asp.net mvc code needs to have contentType=application/json (See this question for why I must use application/json: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2792603/aspnet-mvc-why-is-modelstate-isvalid-false-the-x-field-is-required-when-that) How can I make $.post() send contentType=application/json? I already have a large number of $.post() functions, so I don't want to change to $.ajax() because it would take too much time If I try $.post(url, data, function(), "json") It still has contentType=application/x-www-form-urlencoded. So what exactly does the "json" param do if it does not change the contenttype to json? If I try $.ajaxSetup({ contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8" }); That works but affects every single $.get and $.post that I have and causes some to break. So is there some way that I can change the behavior of $.post() to send contentType=application/json?

  • How to enable reading non-ascii characters in Servlets

    - by Daziplqa
    How to make the servlet accept non-ascii (Arabian, chines, etc) characters passed from JSPs? I've tried to add the following to top of JSPs: <%@page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%> And to add the following in each post/get method in the servlet: request.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8"); response.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8"); I've tried to add a Filter that executes the above two statements instead of in the servlet. To be quite honest, these was working in the past, but now it doesn't work anymore. I am using tomcat 5.0.28/6.x.x on JDK1.6 on both Win & Linux boxes.

  • What is "=C2=A0" in MIME encoded, quoted-printable text?

    - by TheSoftwareJedi
    This is an example raw email I am trying to parse: MIME-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable X-Mailer: Verizon Webmail X-Originating-IP: [x.x.x.x] =C2=A0test testing testing 123 What is =C2=A0? I have tried a half dozen quoted-printable parsers, but none handle this correctly. Honestly, for now, I'm coding: //TODO WTF encoded = encoded.Replace("=C2=A0", ""); Because I can't figure out why that text is there randomly within the MIME content, and isn't supposed to be rendered into anything. By just removing it, I'm getting the desired effect - but WHY?!

  • Reading the Set-Cookie instructions in an HTTP Response header

    - by Eduardo León
    Is there any standard means in PHP to read the Set-Cookie instructions in an HTTP Response header, without manually parsing it? More specifically, I want to read the value of the ASP.NET_SessionId cookie returned by an ASP.NET Web Service I am consuming. EDIT: I am consuming the Web Service using PHP's native SoapClient class. I can use the __getLastResponseHeaders() method to retrieve the whole of the HTTP response header returned by the Web Service: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Cache-Control: private, max-age=0 Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8 Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5 Set-Cookie: ASP.NET_SessionId=ku501l55o300ik3sa2gu3vzj; path=/; HttpOnly X-AspNet-Version: 2.0.50727 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET Date: Tue, 11 Jan 2011 23:34:02 GMT Content-Length: 368 But I want to extract the value of the ASP.NET_SessionID cookie: ku501l55o300ik3sa2gu3vzj And, of course, I don't want to do it manually.

  • why do i lose my hidden field value?

    - by user517406
    Hi, I have some hidden fields on my page, all of which work fine apart from one. I am setting the value in document.ready, before calling buildGrid() : $(document).ready(function() { $.ajax( { type: "POST", url: "/CDServices.asmx/GetWeekEndingDates", data: "{}", dataType: "json", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", success: function(msg) { //store default dates in hidden fields $("#<%=hdnCurrentDate.ClientID%>").val(msg.d.CurrentDate); $("#<%=hdnLastWeekEndingDate.ClientID%>").val(msg.d.LastWeekEndingDate); } }); buildGrid(); }); Yet in buildGrid, the value in the hidden field is empty : function buildGrid() { alert($("#<%=hdnLastWeekEndingDate.ClientID%>").val()); I call other functions on button clicks where the hidden field value is picked up fine, why does the value disappear here?

  • Reading from the HTML DOM returns UTF-8 characters

    - by teehoo
    I have a contenteditable div where I'm reading individual characters and sending them off to a server (for more background this is similar to Google Wave where typing a character automatically sends it) I was using a plain old html textfield before and everything worked fine until I "upgraded" to a contenteditable div. My problem is that now the characters are in UTF-8 format, which is causing some weird problems on the server that I would rather not debug. It would be much easier to force everything to be ASCII on the client side. Is there any way to do this? I tried putting in a meta tag stating the html file is charset=ISO-8859-1, but it doesnt seem to work. Reading from the div tag still returns UTF-8 codes. (One example is when I press space I get the pair 0xC2 0xA0 which corresponds to a "non-breaking white space"

  • Jquery .Ajax error when trying to POST data in ASP.NET MVC

Here is a snippet of the code in the .aspx file... var encoded = $.toJSON(courseItem); $.ajax({ url: '<%= Url.Action("ViewCourseByID", "Home") %>/', type: "POST", dataType: 'json', data: encoded, //contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", success: function(result) { Update: The only time this doesn't work is when I pass json data to the Ajax call, it works fine with HTML data.

  • ASP.NET MVC submitting json array to controller as regular post request (nonajax)

    - by j3ko
    All the examples of json I can find online only show how to submit json arrays w/ the jquery command $.ajax(). I'm submitting some data from a custom user control as a json array. I was wondering if it's possible to submit a json array as a regular post request to the server (like a normal form) so the browser renders the page returned. Controller: [JsonFilter(Param = "record", JsonDataType = typeof(TitleViewModel))] public ActionResult SaveTitle(TitleViewModel record) { // save the title. return RedirectToAction("Index", new { titleId = tid }); } Javascript: function SaveTitle() { var titledata = GetData(); $.ajax({ url: "/Listing/SaveTitle", type: "POST", data: titledata, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", }); } Which is called from a save button. Everything works fine but the browser stays on the page after submitting. I was thinking of returning some kind of custom xml from the server and do javascript redirect but it seems like a very hacky way of doing things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
