  • Tkinter Packing Strangeness: Buttons packed above others

    - by Parand
    I'm sure I'm doing something obvious wrong here, but I can't see it. I end up with the "Should be on top" label packed at the bottom instead of at the top. What am I doing wrong? from Tkinter import * class SelectAction(Frame): buttons = {} def callback(self): print "Callback" def createWidgets(self): logo_label = Label(text="Should be on top").pack(fill=X) for name, text, callback in ( ('setup_account', 'Account Settings', self.callback), ('do_action', 'Do Something', self.callback), ): self.buttons[name] = Button(self, text=text, command=callback).pack(fill=X) def __init__(self, master=None): Frame.__init__(self, master) self.pack() self.createWidgets() if __name__ == "__main__": root = Tk() app = SelectAction(master=root) app.mainloop() root.destroy()

  • How to set the size of a wx.aui.AuiManager Pane that is centered?

    - by aF
    Hello, I have three panes with the InfoPane center option. I want to know how to set their size. Using this code: import wx import wx.aui class MyFrame(wx.Frame): def __init__(self, parent, id=-1, title='wx.aui Test', pos=wx.DefaultPosition, size=(800, 600), style=wx.DEFAULT_FRAME_STYLE): wx.Frame.__init__(self, parent, id, title, pos, size, style) self._mgr = wx.aui.AuiManager(self) # create several text controls text1 = wx.TextCtrl(self, -1, 'Pane 1 - sample text', wx.DefaultPosition, wx.Size(200,150), wx.NO_BORDER | wx.TE_MULTILINE) text2 = wx.TextCtrl(self, -1, 'Pane 2 - sample text', wx.DefaultPosition, wx.Size(200,150), wx.NO_BORDER | wx.TE_MULTILINE) text3 = wx.TextCtrl(self, -1, 'Main content window', wx.DefaultPosition, wx.Size(200,150), wx.NO_BORDER | wx.TE_MULTILINE) # add the panes to the manager self._mgr.AddPane(text1, wx.CENTER) self._mgr.AddPane(text2, wx.CENTER) self._mgr.AddPane(text3, wx.CENTER) # tell the manager to 'commit' all the changes just made self._mgr.Update() self.Bind(wx.EVT_CLOSE, self.OnClose) def OnClose(self, event): # deinitialize the frame manager self._mgr.UnInit() # delete the frame self.Destroy() app = wx.App() frame = MyFrame(None) frame.Show() app.MainLoop() I want to know what is called when we change the size of the panes. If you tell me that, I can do the rest by myself :)

  • App-Engine Parse a UrlFetch UTF-8 encoded stream

    - by Davidrd91
    I am trying to parse an XML from a URL using the xml.sax parser. I know there are other libraries to use but coming from Java this is the one I am most familiar with and seems the least complicated to me. The code I'm using to parse is as follows: parser = xml.sax.make_parser() handler = MangaHandler() parser.setContentHandler(handler) url = urlfetch.Fetch('http://www.mangapanda.com/alphabetical', allow_truncated = False, follow_redirects = False, deadline = False) xml.sax.parseString(url.content, handler) This returns a SaxException (invalid token) once the parser reaches the first & sign: SAXParseException: <unknown>:582:34: not well-formed (invalid token) Because urlfetch returns a string and not a stream I cannot use the parse() (which only works with streams) and am left to use parseString() instead. To see if parsing as a stream would fix this I tried: parser.parse(io.StringIO(url.content).encode('utf-8')) but this returns: TypeError: initial_value must be unicode or None, not str I have also tried to use the urllib2 libraries which do return a stream instead of urlfetch but the file is too large and is automatically truncated, leaving me with missing data. Any Sort of work-around for this would be greatly appreciated as I've spent days getting around one obstacle just to be stopped by another.

  • Most efficient way to update attribute of one instance

    - by Begbie00
    Hi all - I'm creating an arbitrary number of instances (using for loops and ranges). At some event in the future, I need to change an attribute for only one of the instances. What's the best way to do this? Right now, I'm doing the following: 1) Manage the instances in a list. 2) Iterate through the list to find a key value. 3) Once I find the right object within the list (i.e. key value = value I'm looking for), change whatever attribute I need to change. for Instance within ListofInstances: if Instance.KeyValue == SearchValue: Instance.AttributeToChange = 10 This feels really inefficient: I'm basically iterating over the entire list of instances, even through I only need to change an attribute in one of them. Should I be storing the Instance references in a structure more suitable for random access (e.g. dictionary with KeyValue as the dictionary key?) Is a dictionary any more efficient in this case? Should I be using something else? Thanks, Mike

  • Prepopulate drop-box according to another drop-box choice in Django Admin

    - by onorua
    I have models like this: class User(models.Model): Switch = models.ForeignKey(Switch, related_name='SwitchUsers') Port = models.ForeignKey(Port) class Switch(models.Model): Name = models.CharField(max_length=50) class Port(models.Model): PortNum = models.PositiveIntegerField() Switch = models.ForeignKey(Switch, related_name = "Ports") When I'm in Admin interface and choose Switch from Switches available, I would like to have Port prepopulated accordingly with Ports from the related Switch. As far as I understand I need to create some JS script to prepopulate it. Unfortunately I don't have this experience, and I would like to keep things simple as it possible and don't rewrite all Django admin interface. Just add this functionality for one Field. Could you please help me with my problem? Thank you.

  • PyParsing: Not all tokens passed to setParseAction()

    - by Rosarch
    I'm parsing sentences like "CS 2110 or INFO 3300". I would like to output a format like: [[("CS" 2110)], [("INFO", 3300)]] To do this, I thought I could use setParseAction(). However, the print statements in statementParse() suggest that only the last tokens are actually passed: >>> statement.parseString("CS 2110 or INFO 3300") Match [{Suppress:("or") Re:('[A-Z]{2,}') Re:('[0-9]{4}')}] at loc 7(1,8) string CS 2110 or INFO 3300 loc: 7 tokens: ['INFO', 3300] Matched [{Suppress:("or") Re:('[A-Z]{2,}') Re:('[0-9]{4}')}] -> ['INFO', 3300] (['CS', 2110, 'INFO', 3300], {'Course': [(2110, 1), (3300, 3)], 'DeptCode': [('CS', 0), ('INFO', 2)]}) I expected all the tokens to be passed, but it's only ['INFO', 3300]. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there another way that I can produce the desired output? Here is the pyparsing code: from pyparsing import * def statementParse(str, location, tokens): print "string %s" % str print "loc: %s " % location print "tokens: %s" % tokens DEPT_CODE = Regex(r'[A-Z]{2,}').setResultsName("DeptCode") COURSE_NUMBER = Regex(r'[0-9]{4}').setResultsName("CourseNumber") OR_CONJ = Suppress("or") COURSE_NUMBER.setParseAction(lambda s, l, toks : int(toks[0])) course = DEPT_CODE + COURSE_NUMBER.setResultsName("Course") statement = course + Optional(OR_CONJ + course).setParseAction(statementParse).setDebug()

  • How can I handle dynamic calculated attributes in a model in Django?

    - by bullfish
    In Django I calculate the breadcrumb (a list of fathers) for an geographical object. Since it is not going to change very often, I am thinking of pre calculating it once the object is saved or initialized. 1.) What would be better? Which solution would have a better performance? To calculate it at _init_ or to calculate it when the object is saved (the object takes about 500-2000 characters in the DB)? 2.) I tried to overwrite the _init_ or save() methods but I don't know how to use attributes of the just saved object. Accessing *args, **kwargs did not work. How can I access them? Do I have to save, access the father and then save again? 3.) If I decide to save the breadcrumb. Whats the best way to do it? I used http://www.djangosnippets.org/snippets/1694/ and have crumb = PickledObjectField(). Thats the method to calculate the attribute crumb() def _breadcrumb(self): breadcrumb = [ ] x = self while True: x = x.father try: if hasattr(x, 'country'): breadcrumb.append(x.country) elif hasattr(x, 'region'): breadcrumb.append(x.region) elif hasattr(x, 'city'): breadcrumb.append(x.city) else: break except: break breadcrumb.reverse() return breadcrumb Thats my save-Method: def save(self,*args, **kwargs): # how can I access the father ob the object? father = self.father # does obviously not work father = kwargs['father'] # does not work either # the breadcrumb gets calculated here self.crumb = self._breadcrumb(father) super(GeoObject, self).save(*args,**kwargs) Please help me out. I am working on this for days now. Thank you.

  • Is multi-level polymorphism possible in SQLAlchemy?

    - by Jace
    Is it possible to have multi-level polymorphism in SQLAlchemy? Here's an example: class Entity(Base): __tablename__ = 'entities' id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True) created_at = Column(DateTime, default=datetime.utcnow, nullable=False) entity_type = Column(Unicode(20), nullable=False) __mapper_args__ = {'polymorphic_on': entity_type} class File(Entity): __tablename__ = 'files' id = Column(None, ForeignKey('entities.id'), primary_key=True) filepath = Column(Unicode(255), nullable=False) file_type = Column(Unicode(20), nullable=False) __mapper_args__ = {'polymorphic_identity': u'file', 'polymorphic_on': file_type) class Image(File): __mapper_args__ = {'polymorphic_identity': u'image'} __tablename__ = 'images' id = Column(None, ForeignKey('files.id'), primary_key=True) width = Column(Integer) height = Column(Integer) When I call Base.metadata.create_all(), SQLAlchemy raises the following error: NotImplementedError: Can't generate DDL for the null type IntegrityError: (IntegrityError) entities.entity_type may not be NULL. This error goes away if I remove the Image model and the polymorphic_on key in File. What gives? (Edited: the exception raised was wrong.)

  • Encoding with url and api

    - by user2950824
    So I have this web app set up and running and it works fine for any username that you request, but when i try http://mrcastelo.pythonanywhere.com/lol/euw/Nazaré, it simply doesnt work - the error that I get on the server is the following: iddata= getJSON(urllolbase+region+urlid+username) #SummonerID UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 5: ordinal not in range(128) It is annoying me greatly, I've tried some other threads but none of them came to a fix. The api that I am using (www.legendaryapi.com) does accept this because this works. Any idea on how to fix this?

  • Setting up relations/mappings for a SQLAlchemy many-to-many database

    - by Brent Ramerth
    I'm new to SQLAlchemy and relational databases, and I'm trying to set up a model for an annotated lexicon. I want to support an arbitrary number of key-value annotations for the words which can be added or removed at runtime. Since there will be a lot of repetition in the names of the keys, I don't want to use this solution directly, although the code is similar. My design has word objects and property objects. The words and properties are stored in separate tables with a property_values table that links the two. Here's the code: from sqlalchemy import Column, Integer, String, Table, create_engine from sqlalchemy import MetaData, ForeignKey from sqlalchemy.orm import relation, mapper, sessionmaker from sqlalchemy.ext.declarative import declarative_base engine = create_engine('sqlite:///test.db', echo=True) meta = MetaData(bind=engine) property_values = Table('property_values', meta, Column('word_id', Integer, ForeignKey('words.id')), Column('property_id', Integer, ForeignKey('properties.id')), Column('value', String(20)) ) words = Table('words', meta, Column('id', Integer, primary_key=True), Column('name', String(20)), Column('freq', Integer) ) properties = Table('properties', meta, Column('id', Integer, primary_key=True), Column('name', String(20), nullable=False, unique=True) ) meta.create_all() class Word(object): def __init__(self, name, freq=1): self.name = name self.freq = freq class Property(object): def __init__(self, name): self.name = name mapper(Property, properties) Now I'd like to be able to do the following: Session = sessionmaker(bind=engine) s = Session() word = Word('foo', 42) word['bar'] = 'yes' # or word.bar = 'yes' ? s.add(word) s.commit() Ideally this should add 1|foo|42 to the words table, add 1|bar to the properties table, and add 1|1|yes to the property_values table. However, I don't have the right mappings and relations in place to make this happen. I get the sense from reading the documentation at http://www.sqlalchemy.org/docs/05/mappers.html#association-pattern that I want to use an association proxy or something of that sort here, but the syntax is unclear to me. I experimented with this: mapper(Word, words, properties={ 'properties': relation(Property, secondary=property_values) }) but this mapper only fills in the foreign key values, and I need to fill in the other value as well. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • [Django] How to find out whether a model's column is a foreign key?

    - by codethief
    I'm dynamically storing information in the database depending on the request: // table, id and column are provided by the request table_obj = getattr(models, table) record = table_obj.objects.get(pk=id) setattr(record, column, request.POST['value']) The problem is that request.POST['value'] sometimes contains a foreign record's primary key (i.e. an integer) whereas Django expects the column's value to be an object of type ForeignModel: Cannot assign "u'122'": "ModelA.b" must be a "ModelB" instance. Now, is there an elegant way to dynamically check whether b is a column containing foreign keys and what model these keys are linked to? (So that I can load the foreign record by it's primary key and assign it to ModelA?) Or doesn't Django provide information like this to the programmer so I really have to get my hands dirty and use isinstance() on the foreign-key column?
