Windows Server 2008 has by default some mechanism that automatically logs data about an application failure. I believe is called "System Queed Error Reporting"
Is there a way to disable it?
This is happens once in a while, but sometimes when I try to load a web page from my server it just freezes there for a minute trying to load it.
I'm not sure what's causing the issue, or have been able to recreate it. My guess is that one of the softwares I listed below is freezing or something.
What are some techniques I can use to troubleshoot the situation?
Specs:
nginx
php-fpm
php5.5
freebsd 9.1
Forgive me if this seems like a dumb question, but I'm wondering how do I increase the processing power (cpu, memory) of an instance I already have running.
Right now I have a web server running on a m1.small type instance and it's performing poorly at peak times, is it possible to increase the amount of memory on the instance somehow, or do I need to create a new EC2 install. What are my options.
Please advise.
Hi, I am writing a web app. I would like the users to be able to launch a Chromium browser (SRWare Iron) without an address bar or tabs.. just a frame..
Possible? How?
Thanks
UPDATE: Sry answered my own question. Pulled the --app="url" switch off a Gears icon that Remember The Milk made on my desktop. If I had only kept looking instead of posting :)
We have had a Win 2003 server at a co-lo for a while. It is used as a web server and has a very cheap hardware firewall between it and the internet. Ports 3389 and 80 are the only ones forwarded to the server. I am doing some upgrading and wondering if I really need the firewall. Are there any drawbacks to just using the Win 2003 built in firewall to make sure only traffic on 3389 and 80 get through?
I use the iPhone Mail applicationto check my Gmail (IMAP). Is the data stored on the iPhone "secure"? Is it, for instance, encrypted? Key strength? Thanks!
I searched the site for "iphone encryption" but could not find an answer re: encryption level (if any).
I need to learn about the Diameter Protocol and its use in different devices. I want to install a Diameter Server, some kind of client that uses Diameter Protocol to authenticate, and then start tweaking things.
http://www.opendiameter.org has gone dark (although the sourceforge page still exists).
I can't figure out howto install OpenBlox (http://www.traffixsystems.com/OpenBloXDiameterStack.html).
Where can I find a Diameter server and some kind of client applicationto test it with?
hi guys,
Hi have a prob of load balancing we developed a web app using nearly 1500/- users parallely
so the number of users increased we are unable to serve the requests that much of faster,
its takes around 10 to 20 sec to load a page if page having heavy weight it takes 1min also.
we need to solve this situation and we have to serve each request with in 2 to 3 sec
App develped in : asp.net
hosted in : IIS 7.5
Machine configuration : Windows server 2008
8GB RAM
1MBPS band width
I have a legacy app that connects to my SQL 2008 server. I'm trying to determine if the application is re-using it's connection to the SQL server or is creating new connections on a regular basis.
Using SQL Profiler I've audited for login events, but that appears to generate an event every time a SQL statement is executed even with apps that I know are maintaining their connection to SQL.
The "spoon-feeding problem", as it was recently explained to me, happens when connections to your application server are tied up feeding data across slow network connections to your clients. This makes sense to me and now I understand the importance of putting a highly-concurrent proxy in front of my app servers.
My question is, how did the first person to recognize this problem figure it out? What *nix tools and troubleshooting techniques would help me to recognize this problem if I hadn't had it explained to me?
We're building a web service that will be deployed on an IIS 7.5 farm, and secured through SSL, and also requiring client certs that will be mapped to Active Directory accounts.
My understanding is that the server cert needs to be generated for a specific server. If that is the case then we will need a server cert for each server in the farm. Because the farm will be load balanced, how do we generate client certs that will work with any of the servers in the farm?
Our websites are being crawled by content thieves on a regular basis. We obviously want to let through the nice bots and legitimate user activity, but block questionable activity.
We have tried IP blocking at our firewall, but this becomes to manage the block lists. Also, we have used IIS-handlers, however that complicates our web applications.
Is anyone familiar with network appliances, firewalls or application services (say for IIS) that can reduce or eliminate the content scrapers?
How do you figure out the current size of the sharepoint web application? Better yet, the size of a site collection or a subsite.
I am planning to move a site collection from one farm to another. I need to plan the storage capacity first.
Is there a way to "hide" a normal windowed application in windows?
I'm looking for something that removes it from the taskbar and possibly puts an icon in the system tray instead.
Specifically looking for something that works in XP
I have installed Management Services on IIS, and want to configure for Web Deploy.
At Server level I can see Mangagement Service, Feature Delegation, IIS Managers, etc
I also have IIS6 management installed, but as this is a production server I don't want to remove it just to check.
When installing CentOS (6.2), it installs a whole bunch of packages, but the installation is often very fast, it's hard to note the names of the packages. I have a couple of questions:
1) I'm guessing I could wait for the entire installation to complete and then query for the list of installed packages on the system. How do I do that?
2) Is there a printed list somewhere on the web, so I don't have to install the OS first just to get the list?

I am 100% positive that I recently saw on the Internet a new plugin for MS Word which allowed the user to choose a Web Mail service such as Gmail or Ymail instead of Outlook or Live. Am I totally losing my sanity, and "it's just my 'magination runnin' away with me"? Thanks!
From time to time I want to copy and paste a portion of a web document (viewed in both IE Explorer 7 and 8) into MS Word 2007. The selected text copies and pastes fine, but I am left with only place holders for the images (png). Right clicking the image and clicking copy, then pasting into MS Word doesn't work either. If I paste the image into MS Paint and copy it from there, I can paste it into the Word document. What gives?
I have a server machine with Windows 2008 Web Server running on it and I THINK I have been running it under the TechNet license. Now I need to turn it into a production server and I need to find out if I really am running it under a TechNet license so that I can upgrade it. But I can't seem to be able to check which license I am running the OS under. Is there a way to check this?
Hi all
I have tried many ways/software to save a web page (html, mht, doc, pdf). My favorite software was an addon for browsers from Omnipage (OCR). What i like about this is that it prints the whole page (continuously) and it doesn't write the http path and page number on the footer of every page, which i find very annoying.
Does anyone know a software like this one (freeware or not)
PS
I tried CutePDF
I recently noticed that when downloading an application, Safari doesn't give the warning it used to. I have deleted the .plist file with no change. Using Mac OS X 10.5.8, Safari 4.0.4. Any ideas why and howto re-enable?
