• Events doesn't fire when using UpdatePanel

  Hi, What I did is, I have made 2 user controls. One control is inside the other. NoW one control has a buttton and a data grid and datalist in it. When pressing button I am filling datagrid while datalist visiblity false. This is working fine. But now when I press some link button in datalist data, it should call item_command event but it is not calling. I have also used a Updatepanel as a wrapper(all controls are inside it). Please suggest what may be the reason for that. Thanks

  Lately im trying to do some experimental things with JSFL, and i was wondering if it is possible to listener for an event when a component (that i have made) or movieclip is dragged from library on the stage. i want to create something that i'll get a component and drop it on a mc. when the component is dropped on the mc the component will save the mc as a reference in some var. maybe with events isnt the way to go but i have no clue if this is possible or how to do it another way. i hope someone can help me get started thx in advance

• Printings using CUPS, when can my app quit?

  I have an linux app that uses cups for printing, but I've noticed that if I print and then quit my app right away my printout never appears. So I assume that my app has to wait for it to actually come out of the printer before quitting, so does anyone know how to tell when it's finished printing?? I'm using libcups to print a postscript file that my app generates. So I use the command to print the file and it then returns back to my app. So my app thinks that the document is off to the printer queue when I guess it has not made it there yet. So rather than have all my users have to look on the screen for the printer icon in the system tray I would rather have a solution in code, so if they try and quit before it has really been sent off I can alert them to the fact. Also the file I generate is a temporary file so it would be nice to know when it is finished with so I can delete it.

• C# Custom Control Properties load before Load and arrays are empties

  Hello, I made a custom control with custom properties. When I modify these properties in the "Form.cs [Design]", I need stuff to happens (it fill some arrays and modify the look of the control), so I call a function within the "set" of the property. All of this works good. My problem is that when I run the program with my custom control, it seems that properties "set" is called, which will call the function, but then, my arrays seems now to have lost all their values and the function use these arrays, but now because they are all empty, it crashes due to NullException blahblahblah. It also seems that properties "set" is called before the control Load (which I guess is called only when it is added to my Form, and not when the Form load). So question is, why does my arrays become empty once I try to run the Form and is there an event that is called before that when the Form load? Thanks

  I have a view model that contains enum with nullable type like this one : public StudyLevel? studyLevel { get; set; } I have made custom html helper to display a dropdownlist for rendering the enum into the view, the nullable case is displayed using <option value="null">No value</option> the problem is that when i submit the form modelstate give me the error : studylevel cannot be "null" . Could you suggest me any way to help me handle the nullable type in the view ?

  I use Java and JDBC to save japanese characters and it works perfectly on my local MySQL. But when I tried doing the same thing on my web hotels MySQL i get ????? instead of japanese characters. I have made the exact same tables and use exact same code. The only difference I have found is SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'CHAR%' character_set_client utf8 character_set_connection utf8 character_set_database latin1 character_set_filesystem binary character_set_results utf8 character_set_server latin1 character_set_system utf8 character_sets_dir /s/usr-local/share/mysql/charsets/ character_set_datbase is set to latin1. But I can't change it! Any tips?

• Problems debugging using Cygwin gdb in Eclipse CDT(Helios)

  I am trying to debug an application using Eclipse CDT and cygwin gdb and I am facing a problem if my code calls Sleep(), it looks like whenever a sleep is encountered in the code the debugger seems to go in an infinite loop(I meant it never terminates or hit a breakpoint after sleep). On pressing pause the code is stuck on one of the thread on sigint::interrupt. Even my debugger console windows throw these error in the console output: [New thread 5968.0x1f98] Error: dll starting at 0x774a0000 not found. Error: dll starting at 0x775c0000 not found. [New thread 5968.0x19e8] Any idea what are these errors about? It would be helpful if someone can help me out here as I am new to eclipse and I am used to using VS so it has made be lazy to be honest and expect things to work out of box.   Hey, I'm making an e-shop and to display the tree of categories and all the products with their multiple variations of prices I made like more than 150 mysql_query("SELECT ..."); queries on one page. (If I count the "while" loops). Is it too many, and if yes, can it have any negative effect? (ofc. it takes longer to load the data ..) • php database session handling problem in IE8!

  I've got an html page from where Im making this call periodically: function logon(id) { $.get("data.php", { action: 'online', userID: id}, function(data){ $("#msg").html(data); }); } What this does is it calls this SQL script in data.php: $sql = "update user_sessions set expires=(expires + 2) where userID = $userID"; mysql_query($sql, $conn) or die(mysql_error()); echo $sql; I can see by the echo that the sql syntax and values are correct, but THE CHANGES TO THE expires FIELD ARE NOT DONE, ONLY IN IE8!! It works fine in other ff, safari, chrome, ie6 and 7. There is nothing browser specific about making this sql call, but the user_sessions table is used to store PHP's sessions. Im only increasing the session expiry time when the call is made. What in IE8's session handling is preventing the session time from changing? Is there any caching or cookie problem that needs to be changed?

  I currently have a website with a standard web interface on index.php, and I made an iPhone-friendly version in iphone.php. Both pages handle the same arguments. It works fine when I manually go to .../iphone.php, but I'd like to rewrite anything on .../path/ and .../path/index.php to iphone.php if %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} contains mobile, and optionally add the query string (not sure if/when I'd need to add it). So far, this is what I have in my .../path/.htaccess: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.+mobile.+$ [NC] RewriteRule index.php?(.*) iphone.php?$1 [L] RewriteRule index.php iphone.php [L] The problems are, it matches index.php in any subfolder, and it won't match .../path/?args… Special thanks to anyone who can correct/simplify/optimize anything =)

• MD5 hash differences between Python and other file hashers

  I have been doing a bit of programming in Python (still a n00b at it) and came across something odd. I made a small program to find the MD5 hash of a filename passed to it on the command line. I used a function I found here on SO. When I ran it against a file, I got a hash "58a...113". But when I ran Microsoft's FCIV or the md5sum.py in \Python26\Tools\Scripts\, I get a different hash, "591...ae6". The actual hashing part of the md5sum.py in Scripts is m = md5.new() while 1: data = fp.read(bufsize) if not data: break m.update(data) out.write('%s %s\n' % (m.hexdigest(), filename)) This looks functionally identical to the code in the function given in the other answer... What am I missing? (This is my first time posting to stackoverflow, please let me know if I am doing it wrong.)

• Is it possible for a XSS attack to obtain HttpOnly cookies?

  Reading this blog post about HttpOnly cookies made me start thinking, is it possible for an HttpOnly cookie to be obtained through any form of XSS? Jeff mentions that it "raises the bar considerably" but makes it sound like it doesn't completely protect against XSS. Aside from the fact that not all browser support this feature properly, how could a hacker obtain a user's cookies if they are HttpOnly? I can't think of any way to make an HttpOnly cookie send itself to another site or be read by script, so it seems like this is a safe security feature, but I'm always amazed at how easily some people can work around many security layers. In the environment I work in, we use IE exclusively so other browsers aren't a concern. I'm looking specifically for other ways that this could become an issue that don't rely on browser specific flaws.

  I made an AJAX call and it works on FF & Chrome but not on IE 7-8-9.   Hi, I'm new to PHP and I'm having a problem when trying to link my CSS files using include. Basically I need my files to link back to a certain directory no matter how far down the file is. I have tried using <?php include $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . '/sysprogs/required/header.html'; ?> But header.html contains the links to my css files so the directory it ends up looking for the css files in is http://localhost/SysProgs/software/CSS/style.css instead of where I want it to go to which is http://localhost/SysProgs/required/CSS/style.css I hope that made sense and I hope you can help me

  I'm working on new data type for arbitrary length numbers (only non-negative integers) and I got stuck at implementing square root and exponentiation functions (only for natural exponents). Please help. I store the arbitrary length number as a string, so all operations are made char by char. Please don't include advices to use different (existing) library or other way to store the number than string. It's meant to be a programming exercise, not a real-world application, so optimization and performance are not so necessary. If you include code in your answer, I would prefer it to be in either pseudo-code or in C++. The important thing is the algorithm, not the implementation itself. Thanks for the help.

  Hi, I have made two folders, res/layout and res/layout-land The output i got If I start the application in portrait mode, it will always use the xml in layout folder if the application run in portrait mode. And will not use xml in layout-land if i change the device to landscape mode If it start in landscape mode it only use the xml in layout-land The xml is not switching when the orientation change What i expect was It should use the xml in layout folder while it is in portrait mode and use the xml in layout-land while in landscape mode In the Manifest file i have added android:configChanges="orientation" for the activity and <supports-screens android:resizeable="true" android:largeScreens="true" android:normalScreens="true" android:anyDensity="true" /> Did i missed any thing here?   I have made a function to slidedown different div's by clicking different links. Following is basic code. However, there's a little problem that, for example, if i click on first link, it slides down div. Now If i click on next link, it keeps the first div, and slides down the second div. However I want to do it so that, if there is any div slided down, and I click on any link, it should slide up the previous div and slide down the newer one. • Should class IOException in Java have been an unchecked RuntimeException?

  Do you agree that the designers of Java class java.io.IOException should have made it an unchecked run-time exception derived from java.lang.RuntimeException instead of a checked exception derived only from java.lang.Exception? I think that class IOException should have been an unchecked exception because there is little that an application can do to resolve problems like file system errors. However, in When You Can't Throw An Exception, Elliotte Rusty Harold claims that most I/O errors are transient and so you can retry an I/O operation several times before giving up: For instance, an IOComparator might not take an I/O error lying down, but — because many I/O problems are transient — you can retry a few times, as shown in Listing 7: Is this generally the case? Can a Java application correct I/O errors or wait for the system to recover? If so, then it is reasonable for IOException to be checked, but if it is not the case, then IOException should be unchecked so that business logic can delegate handling of this exception to a separate system error handler.

I cannot bind the input types as exceptions because the content editor in sharepoint allows to modify the text in div or paragraph elements etc. The solution is not working in IE8 because the event.target returns the element that is on mouseover when there's no controls that has the focus. I suppose I am effectively testing whether it matches the regular expression ^[[:alnum:] ]+$ but without using regular expressions.   Context: .Net, C# I want to print a complex number made from two doubles. The sign needs to show on the imaginary part. I'd like to use the default double formatting for each part to minimize the number of characters. I tried using String.Format("{0:+G;-G}{1:+G;-G}j", real, imaginary) but this ended up printing: "+G-Gj". Not quite what I wanted. Is there any way to do this using the G specifier or do I need to do a custom format which would sacrifice auto-switching the exponent, e.g. {1:+#.######e###;-#.######e###}j"
