  • What does transactions per seconds for a load balancer mean

    I was looking at the product matrix of webmux 592G(load balancer). It says maximum connections per sec = 2.8M Maximum number of transactions = 100,000 What does the above numbers mean. Does above means that load balancer can have 2.8M connections open but only 100K of them will be active per seconds. Also incase any one has used webmux 592G do you guys know in practice how many connections it can have open and what qps it can serve

    I'm running the following grep command var=`grep -n "keyword" /var/www/test/testfile.txt` This work just as expected but I need to insert the file name dynamically from a loop like so: var=`grep -n "keyword" /var/www/test/`basename ${hd[$i]}`.txt` But obviously the use of ` brakes this with a unexpected EOF while looking for matching ``' and unexpected end of file Any ideas of away around this?

  • How to split a multipage TIFF file on Windows?

    I thought Adobe Photoshop could do everything, but apparently it cannot read multipage TIFF files. I have a TIFF file with four pages, and I need to edit one of the pages. Windows Picture Viewer can print all four pages, but cannot split them. Anyone know how I can split the original TIFF into four separate images suitable for editing? The Google search for "free tiff splitter windows" returns lots of suspicious looking downloads.

  • How can I clear *old* browsing data from Google Chrome Linux, while keeping more recent data?

    I can find plenty of information on how to clear Google Chrome's recent browsing data, in various periods, as well as clearing all browsing data. But I want to clear old browsing data—say for a start, anything over two months old. (I'm trying to save space on a crowded laptop.) Does anyone know any principled way to do this, or shall I just dive into ~/.config/google, start removing likely-looking files, and hope for the best. I run Google Chrome on Debian Linux.

    I'm looking for a piece of software to detect drops in my internet connection and log those drops. OS doesn't really matter since I have pretty much everything running here, although something on OSX would be nice. I also don't really care how it determines that connection has been dropped, but I think that there must be something better than a ping or at least a combination of a ping and something else.

  • SSH equivalent of .profile/.bashrc

    I am looking for a way to automatically define some aliases inside my session on any server I ssh to. I can't put them in the .bashrc files on the server because the user accounts I log in with are shared by other people and besides there are dozens of them and maintaining a script on every machine would be painful. I know I could use expect to type the aliases automatically but I was just wondering if OpenSSH has anything built-in that could conceivably be used to achieve this?

    I'm looking for a good keyboard tray that would attach to my desk drawer (one of the old metal SteelCase desks). Criteria: Stable and solid (we had one that wiggled and it drove me crazy).     Looking at the details of a certificate using the following: openssl x509 -noout -text -purpose -in mycert.pem I find a bunch of purpose flags (which I've discovered are set by the various extensions attached to a certificate). One of these purpose flags is "Any Purpose". I can't seem to find ANY documentation on this flag and why or why not it is set. In an old version of what's up gold, it was a nice dashboard with different rectangular shape being red, yellow or green depending on the status of the service and could be display easily on a screen. Is there some copycat dashboard for nagios ? any better recommendation ? I want something you can see from your desk 15meters away: red or green, no need for details.
