  • ListView Item Detail Screen: New or Same Activity?

    - by stormin986
    I have a listview where each item correlates to an instance of an item in an array. When the user selects an item, it will bring up a 'Details' page that reads and displays other data members of the list item. Would this be better implemented with the Details page as its own activity, or a new view within the same activity? Pros and cons of each? A new activity makes my job a little easier in terms of handling the 'back' button, but then I have the challenge of how do I pass the rest of the data structure to the new activity since I can't bundle it up (unless I serialize it).

  • Call AsyncTask methods from another class/service (callbacks?)

    - by TiGer
    Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to call specific methods defined within the AsynTask class from another class and/or service ? In my specific case I have a Service playing some sounds, but the sound is selected from a List with available sounds... When a sounds is selected it is downloaded from my home server, this takes some time (not much, let's say around the 3-4 seconds, the sounds/effects aren't big in size)... So my problem at the moment is that I have a service to play those sounds, and when I select one I wanted to show a progressdialog... The way (if I understood correctly) is to use an AsyncTask, but the only thing the AsyncTask will do is telling my Service to play a specific sound from my server... So there is no "callback" from the service to the Asynctask... How can I achieve that ? How can I call a running AsyncTask, which sits in another class, and tell him all work is done and thus he can stop showing the ProgressDialog ? Or am I over-engineering it and there are other ways ? Thanks in advance...

  • How do I Capture native (Menu) button presses in PhoneGap?

    - by Dinedal
    By calling "BackButton.override();" and then hooking on to the backKeyDown event, I am able to get the back button press to register. But there doesn't appear to be a "MenuButton.override();" Also, hooking on the menuKeyDown doesn't register a button press. Here's my (non-functional) code. What am I missing? <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="phonegap.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> document.addEventListener("deviceready", function() { alert('initialized'); }, false); document.addEventListener("menuKeyDown", function() { alert('menu_pressed'); // Never happens }, false); </script>

    - by rob
    I am using three buttons along with the list view.These three buttons are added to the layout using the TableLayout and TableRow.The first button takes more space on content, so the other two becomes smaller in size than first one. When the application runs, it doesn't even show the two other buttons. How can I make the size of three buttons equal and display all of them when application runs?Give me some example please. • Why is MenuItem.AdapterContextMenuInfo null when my list view has a custom adapter?

    - by gregm
    My question: Before I go and use an OnLongClickListener, is there a better way to pass the "what was clicked to create this context menu" information when your list view has a custom adapter? Here are some details: Normally, my code can just do something like this: public boolean onContextItemSelected(MenuItem item) { AdapterContextMenuInfo info = (AdapterContextMenuInfo) item.getMenuInfo(); and then go on and be happy. However, ever since I introduced a custom adapter, item.getMenuInfo() is null. This is a big problem, because my code no longer knows which item was clicked. (My custom Adapter makes each list row a checkbox and a text view) I tried this but failed: Created my own special AdapterContextMenuInfo (called "HasAViewMenuInfo"), but when I pass it in this method, it ends up being null in the menu public void onCreateContextMenu(ContextMenu menu, View v, ContextMenuInfo menuInfo) { super.onCreateContextMenu(menu, v, new HasAViewMenuInfo(v));

The document resource/values/strings.xml created for this ID: <string name="button1name"> CID </ string> But the document GurovPictures.java (this is my main activity) when I insert a line: Button but1 = (Button) findViewById (R.id.button1); This "button1" does not become blue like "editText1". Do you happen to know how to fix it? Just the internet no entries found.

  • Changing tab indicators to a view in a tab widget?

    - by user246114
    Hi, I have a layout which requires a tab widget containing two tabs. Ideally I'd like to have each tab just be a completely flat colored rectangle, side by side. Almost exactly like the buttons you see at the top of this web page titled: "Questions" | "Tags" | "Users" | "Badges" | "Unanswered" but without the whitespace in between. I'd like to have the highlighted tab have a brighter background color. Is this possible using the tab widget? I know in 1.6+ there's a method to specify a view for the tabs themselves, but can I achieve this tight look, or should I just roll my own? Thanks

  • code setOnClickListener for multiple TextViews

    - by user2870583
    I have 40+ TextViews and I want to add click events on them, but I try to do it "shortly" : final GridLayout myGL; myGL = (GridLayout) v0725.findViewById( R.id.tab1 ); for( int i = 0; i < myGL.getChildCount(); i++ ) if ( getResources().getResourceEntryName(((TextView) myGL.getChildAt(i)).getId()).indexOf("v")==0 ) { ((TextView) myGL.getChildAt(i)).setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { Log.v("edf", getResources().getResourceEntryName(((TextView) myGL.getChildAt(i)).getId())); } }); }; But Eclipse stops me on the Log.v line, because i should be final (but I can't) any tips?
