What is the easiest way to tell IIS7 to restart Coldfusion Server at set time intervals (every 6 hours for example) without paying for something like Service Hawk?
I recently purchased a TI-84 Plus graphing calculator, and I'm trying install the TI Connect software in order to connect the calculator to my computer via the USB cable. Unfortunately, I'm getting this error while trying to install the program:
Error 1303. The installation has insufficient privileges to access
this directory: E:\Data\Timothy\Documents\MyTIData. The installation
cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system
administrator.
However, my account is the only account on my PC, and it has administrative privileges. I've also tried running the installer with Run as Administrator, but with no luck. If I create the folder MyTIData manually, I receive this error:
Error 1317. An error occurred while attempting to create the
directory: E:\Data\Timothy\Documents\MyTIData
I've reapplied the security settings to the E:\Data folder (and all its sub-directories) to Full for my account. I've also gone into Computer Management, and given SYSTEM full privileges for the entire disk. I've also logged out, logged back in, restarted, etc. but still, no luck.
Now, I should mention that my Documents folder is not at the default location. I changed it due to my C: disk being a 90GB SSD, so I moved all my personal data onto the extra storage disk (which is ~1TB). I don't know if that is causing the issue, but it can't hurt throwing it out there.
So why can't I install this program? Google'ing the problem brings up this error for various other installers (such as Visual Studio and Microsoft Office), but nothing for TI Connect. All the solutions are the same: Give the folder Full privileges...but I've already done this! I've also tried running the installer with and without the calculator plugged in, but it didn't change anything. In the prompt that contains the error, repeatedly clicking Retry or waiting a few moments before clicking Retry also produces no result.
We have a program that compiles executables into a folder into c:\bin. Ideally I would like to share this folder so users can access the exe's within but stop them creating any other files in there. The reason for this is to stop users grabbing source code and putting it in a shared drive then taking it.
We have a Domain Controller setup and all the users belong to a specific security group.
Is there any way to achieve this?
EDIT: TO clarify, I need to stop users from creating or moving files INTO the C:\bin folder which are not executables.
dear sir,

While accessing the server, the error comes:
Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again.
I am logging in from Administrator in XP machine, able to access server from other machines. Is there any problem with administrator profile??
My users are on 2012 R2 RDS Session Host servers.
I've used "Deploy Printers" (from Print Manager) to deploy 4 printers. The last week, I've had a lot of problems where users can't print. If I deleted the printer and added it again, they could print just fine.
Now I've removed all printer deploying from GPO - and I have no printers in any login scripts. I did a gpupdate /force, but all the 4 printers are now listed 3 times...
If I delete the printers and log off and back on, all the printers are popping up again. Sigh! This is driving me nuts.
This script doesn't show any of the "SVFREJA" printers...
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\.\root\cimv2")
Set colPrinters = objWMIService.ExecQuery ("Select * From Win32_Printer")
If colPrinters.Count <> 0 Then 'If there are some network printers
Dim s
s = ""
For Each objPrinterInstalled In colPrinters ' For each network printer
s = s + objPrinterInstalled.Name + chr(13)
Next
msgbox s
End if
It gives me this result...
(sry for the big picture)
My problem is not with the "redirected" printers, my problem is that I have several printers with the same name (on SVFREJA) and I can't get rid of them.
Any idea why I can't get rid of the "ophaned" printers??
I am trying to setup Continuous Integration in our office. Being a puny little developer I am facing this supposedly infamous problem:
" Source control operation failed: svn: OPTIONS of 'https://trunkURL': Server certificate verification failed: issuer is not trusted"
So I tried the following solution
- Run CC.NET service (server running as win service) using a domain account (rather than default LOCAL SYSTEMS) and accept cert permanently using command prompt under that user by using svn log/list on the repo.
Doesn't help :(. I am getting the following from my artifact/log files(or dashboard)
ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.Core.CruiseControlException: Source control operation failed: svn: OPTIONS of 'https://TrunkURL': Server certificate verification failed: issuer is not trusted (https://ServerAdd)
. Process command: E:\(svn.exe Path) log https://TrunkURL -r "{2010-11-08T02:12:20Z}:{2010-11-08T02:13:21Z}" --verbose --xml --no-auth-cache --non-interactive

We are using VisualSVN Server and CC.NET for this adventure. Tips, suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks
Sometimes, I suspect when I open a music folder during the right moon phase and during a leap microsecond, this process crashes and pops up an error reporting dialogue. I decline to report the error, because that also fails by now, and choose Exit. Exit just delays the re-appearance of the error reporting dialogue for about 2 seconds.
If I try and kill the process using SysInternals' Process Explorer the process is just restarted, only to crash again. So, I'm pretty sure another process, probably a service because TGitCache doesn't have a parent process and no other Git processes are visible, is keeping tabs on this process and restarting it if it dies. This is cruel and inhuman, but how can I find which nanny process is prolonging the agony?
I am using a multi-touch HP PC, and I want to disable the on-screen keyboard that pops up when a text input field gets focus.
This is the same keyboard as when you touch the left side of the screen.
Is there a way to disable this keyboard?
I use Vista on a HP pavilion DV2 laptop. When I look through all the services my laptop starts, it really seems there's way too much of it. I multi boot with XP and 7. Both startup in 40 seconds. Vista takes four minutes.
Is there some software that can determine which services I don't need? On 7, there's no propietary HP stuff at all, yet it seems to run fine. Because all these service, there's a LOT of them and some just sit there doing nothing, monitoring for updates I don't really need or want or need to know about the second they're available.
my laptop is the only computer i use at home, there's no home network, aside from the modem-router, which is cabled, not wifi.
Take for instance Parental controls, and stuff for people with bad eyesight, Tablet PC. I really never use any of that stuff.
Hope this question is specific enough.
I've looked at the other questions but they didn't answer me.
thanks, Gwen.

In one of my Application and DB Server , SSIS package runs at night. Every morning i need to reset IIS to work the Application Fast and smoothly. One day i tried to SKIP the SSIS Package and next day i hvnt Done the IIS reset.
What could be the problem. Is there any alternate Solution for IIS reset.
How can i schedule and make sure the IIS is RESTARTED through Batch File / s.
Application is developed in .NET and DB is SQL latest version. The application is hostes on cloud server.
Your prompt reply will be helpful for me.
Ok, here's the general idea of what I want to do.
After a certain time, I would like the computer to nag me to go to sleep. Maybe every five minutes or so. But I don't want the messages to pop up if the screen is locked, because I leave it like that all night.
Ideally I would like to be able to do more things like shut down running instances the web browser, or lock my user session if I ignore the notices for too long. But I'm happy with just popup messages if that's all I can do.
So, how much of this is possible and where do I start? I'm not too well versed with task scheduler, and I'm assuming I'll use that to at least start whatever script I have to put together.
I'd like to create a settings file for my logman command. I expect to have lots of perfmon counters.
Is there any easy way to get all the perfmon counters' exact text anywhere?
The only thing I thought of was to create a Perfmon Counter Log through the GUI and then export the list of selected counters--but I don't see an export option! I guess I could manually copy what I see on the screen, but that seems inefficient. I'm going to be dealing with tens of counters.
Maybe there is a list somewhere? That'd be easier to copy and paste from.
I'm trying to add a second hard drive within Virtual PC without formatting it.
I followed the instructions for adding a second hard drive but when I add go the the Computer ManagementDisk Management console it wants to format it.
The reason I want to add this second hard drive is that it has data on it that I want available to this instance of Virtual PC
I've recently set up folder redirection for my user profile in a domain.
For now, I've redirected AppData, Desktop, Pictures, Documents and Favorites. So far, so good. But now I've noticed a quite disturbing side effect of the whole thing.
Whenever I click any of my pinned elements on the task bar, I get the following warning:
The shortcuts get synced as well and are no longer trusted. They're located at
\\DFS\UserData\Profiles\OliverSalzburg\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar
That seems like it could be a problem when rolling it out to the whole company.
The explorer.exe process on my Vista x64 has started using a lot of CPU recently. Restarting the process typically solves the problem.
Is there a simple way to inspect the process to see where (threads, modules) the high CPU load is spent?
I have a W2008 R2 installed on a different network (I am on 192.168.0.x - new server on 192.168.3.x)
I had trouble ping and RDP to it. I disabled the firewall to test the connection:
and that opened the ping feature
but I still can not RDP to that machine. the allow remote access is enabled
As per sinni80 idea - Here is the error message
The networks are divided by a Fortigate 60-B router - 2ndy interface for the gateway is 192.168.3.254 (and pingable from all)
any to any rule on both networks is in place.
As per Joe Schmoe idea - I am able to RDP to 192.168.3.1 from 192.168.3.3 (which is on the same network)
Data to add: - The servers are on a VM host, each of the servers has 2 nics
one is DHCP enabled into the 192.168.0.x network
2nd is static IP in the 192.168.3.x
-- Further information:
The network 192.168.0.x - are on a domain network (active Directory)
The network 192.168.3.x - are grouped in a workgroup
What should I check more please?
I don't want ConEmu to attach to every cmd I open, but this is how it works now. I remember that I told ConEmu to do this, but I don't want it anymore. Maybe I just overlooked something, but I've read all the settings pages and I couldn't find an option to disable it. Am I missing something?
How do I prevent ConEmu from attaching every single cmd.exe I open?
My ConEmu version is 121109 x86, on winXPproSp3x86.
I have a scheduled backup that backs up the shared files and system state. It is set to run as "normal" mode. However, when it runs it only makes a 2K size file when it should be like 60GB.What rookie mistake am I making?
I am trying to print out information from the Task Scheduler from the local computer in a powershell script so other users can print out this information as well and not have to access the Task Scheduler. I need the script to print out the name, status, triggers, next run time, last run time, last run result, author and created. I can print out the information about the name, next run time, and last run time, but the rest wont print out when i run the script.
I have already got a little start on my script and got the fields down.
$schedule = new-object -com("Schedule.Service")
$schedule.connect()
$tasks = $schedule.getfolder("\").gettasks(0)
$tasks | select Name,Status,Triggers,NextRunTime,LastRunTime,LastRunResult,Author,Created | ft
foreach ($t in $tasks)
{
foreach ($a in $t.Actions)
{
$a.Path
}
}
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
We are running a Win2K3 Server box, and I'm a remote employee that connects via VPN. I've been frustrated for some time by the connection speed over the VPN (the office HQ has a decent speed and I have a biz class connection here), and decided to do some checking today.
This morning, I was dialed in and looked at the networking tab of the task manager, and I see that the adapter for the RAS Server (the box has 4 Gigabit adapters) has a speed that seems far too low.
The speed for the RAS Server link hovers between 300 - 600 Kbps. The local connection (and others) all say 1 Gbps.
Can I set this to a higher speed? Is this information accurate?
Thanks for the input.
Assuming the components like *.dll's, *.ocx's installed and registered on the clients there exists the possibility to place the *.exe and some related files on the fileserver. To start the application there are links on the client's desktops which runs the \fileserver\AppPath\exe.
Would you agree with such a layout?
What if 'the client' is a terminal-server and 'the clients' means a terminal-server-farm?
At work, I can remotely administer other computers by first adding my domain account as a local admistrator on another computer. After that, I can use remote registry, computer management, and file sharing (\\computer\c$).
How can I setup a remote user to be a local administrator on a simple home network without a domain (just a workgroup)?
For some reason my localhost is not recognized.
I have this in my hosts file as I've always had:
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost
I did do a flushdns, not sure if that caused it. Then I tried a /registerdns in the command prompt.
I still have the same issue.
