I would like to create a pseudo filesystem like /proc to access an applications configuration.
How could i achieve this or where could i find some introductory dokumentation about it?
What are the option in terms of applications that help build SQL statements against a MSSQL database?

Any Ideas?
Is there way to dump the current screen to a bitmap in Android?
And what about dump screen of other applications? For example, running a service background, the foreground app could send an intent to start the service, and capture the current screen and save as a bitmap.
How can I add shortcut keys to my menu items. I notice that many applications have:
New ctrl+N
Open ctrl+O
Do I write the endings (like ctrl+N) myself and handle WM_KEYDOWN or is there a magical way to do it with resources?
Thanks
Hi there, I'm a new in Android and Java and I have the following problem. I want to change standard resources, such as button background, programatically to allow applications using standard buttons be displayed with custom background. My problem is - how shall I identify the path for retrieval resources on phone or emulator? And if we have permissions to access to those resources?
Hi,
As Rails applications default run on port 3000, would it be possible to start the application on port 80? Is it really required to have a fastcgi/mod_proxy enabled web server in front? My users won't be more than three at a time. If so, how would I be able to do so?
Thanks!
I migrated from Java to C# and so I am wondering how to unit tests in C#. I remember using JUnit to test my Java applications and importing the package, etc. How can I unit test in C#? What are some good resources for unit testing in C#?
I have a client who wants to transition off their old environment into .NET.
The client has a good grounding in basic OO concepts (their existing development environment supports this) and are expert developers, but need a quick "up to speed" introduction to the .NET framework (C# as the chosen language) for building Line of Business applications (they're keen on Silverlight).
Any recommendations?
I have made my java application's jar file and now want to create drag and drop installer for it.Also I want to know that how to create shortcut for Applications folder for the same purpose.

Is there any way i can have a thread branch off into it's own independent process? I know there's the CreateProcess function but as far as I can tell, you can only run external applications with it. Is what I'm asking for at all possible?
I'm using the built in sqlite library on the Android platform.
I'm considering adding several general purpose fields that users will be able to use for their own custom applications, but these fields will be blank most of the time.
My question is, how much overhead will these blank fields add to my database? Do null fields even take up per record memory in sqlite? If so, how much? I don't quite understand the inner workings of a sqlite database.
Right now, if I want to run mysql, I have to do /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysql -u user -ppass... I'd be a happy camper if I could just do mysql -u user -ppass.... Been googling around, but haven't been able to find anything... Have a feeling I'm using dumb search terms, so if anyone here knows how to do this, that'd be awesome...
We have 40K+ groups in our active directory and we are increasingly facing problem of circular nested groups which are creating problems for some applications.
Does anyone know how to list down the full route through which a circular group membership exists ?
e.g.
G1 --> G2 --> G3 --> G4 --> G1
How do I list it down.
Is it possible for one to check the strong name of a .NET application that is already currently running separately from your own running applications process?
Are there any snippets to make emacs use the .vim syntax files found in /usr/share/vim/vimfiles/ for coloring text. Many applications like conky have the vim syntax files like "conkyrc.vim" for vim but not for emacs. So is there an easy way to use those files rather than rewriting a new language-mode for each of those available in vimfiles directory.
The amount of records to be displayed in drop-down combo boxes affect the performance of internet applications. What are the current best practices to solve this problem? Are paginated drop-downs the only solution? What is considered a large list? 100 or 1000?
We are looking at switching from using WCF for our service layer in applications to REST.
So far we are assuming that the way to do this is to use the WCF REST Starter Kit. However this is still in Preview 2 and hasn't been updated since March 2009.
Is this project dead in the water?
If so, what alternatives do we have for creating .NET-based REST services? (Some are suggesting using ASP.NET MVC, which we're already using for our UI layer)
I'd like to learn database applications in C# and I'm about to select some framework. I heard many recommendations of NHibernate, however I haven't decided yet.
Anyway, I'd like to know if there's any real-life example (with sources) of NHibernate in C#, to learn best practices etc.? I know all of them are probably covered in the docs, but working example helps a lot understanding the proper development pattern.
I've seen in applications a popup that prompts me what I do want to do with a text. I am prompted to choose from Send by SMS, Send by Email, Send by Bluetooth, Send by Fring etc.
How do I make such a popup, it seamed to be automatically built?
Also how do I tell what message to use?
And if needed how do I tell who the contact is? Maybe chooses the options based on the contact, (if has email, show email)
I am having trouble accessing the database while I am developing on the phone. Whenever I execute
cd /data/data/com.mycompck/databases
then if I try to run ls I get opendir failed, Permission denied
Or whenever I type in:
sqlite3 I get sqlite3: permission denied
What I am doing wrong?
Are there some applications that can help me getting a human view of content resolvers values and/or SQLite databases?
Hi Guys,
I have a WCF service hosted, and I have referenced the service in silverlight application. Although the service gives exact error in asp.net applications but it hides the actual error for silverlight application.
How can I get the actual error thrown by the service in my silverlight application?

I will be releasing two applications soon, one for my company and one for me. Publishing app on my own is straightforward, but I'm not sure which account to use for the company.
What practice do you use in your company?
I only see one solution, creating a special google account like [email protected] shared by the company Android devs.
Since Silverlight 4 Microsoft recommends the usage WCF RIA services for business applications. Are there Silverlight scenarios, where the WCF RIA serives should no be used and plain WCF services or webservices or other techniques are the better choice ?
