  • What is the RFC complicant and working regular expression to check if a string is a valid URL

    - by bestis
There is question by the almost the same name already: What is the best regular expression to check if a string is a valid URL I don't understand this stackoverflow. It seems like I need reputation to comment an answer. As I don't have it, I don't know how to tell/ask that the proposed solution doesn't seem to work. So I'm forced to make a new question and ask for the solution this way? But that regexp seems to fail in input which has IPv6 address in it: For example facebook's IPv6 address: http://2620:0:1cfe:face:b00c::3/ Also link to localhost fails: http://::1/ Or is PHP to blame? /** * Validate URL - RFC 3987 (IRI) * * http://stackoverflow.com/questions/161738/what-is-the-best-regular-expression-to-check-if-a-string-is-a-valid-url * * @param string $str_url * @return boolean */ function is_url($str_url) { // RFC 3987 For absolute IRIs (internationalized): // @todo FIXME - Has bugs in IPv6 (http://2620:0:1cfe:face:b00c::3/) fails return (bool) `http://2620:0:1cfe:face:b00c::3/` > bool(false) > `http://2620:0:1cfe:face:b00c::3:80/` > bool(false) And it also seems that stackoverflow's code is miss behaving on those :) So what is the RFC compilicant and working regexp? ps. If you close this, please then tell me how this situation should be handled? I don't think that the answer is, just earn your reputation. Who wants to do that if they cannot even tell that some proposed solution isn't working correctly. pps. • How to navigate to another html page?

    In my application there's a usual login page sending username and password to the server script, where it needs to be authenticated, and in case of an authentic user, the server should redirect to a page student.html. This is my code var ports = 3000; var portt = 3001; var express = require('express'); var student = require('express')(); var teacher = require('express')(); var server_s = require('http').createServer(student); var server_t = require('http').createServer(teacher); var ios = require('socket.io').listen(server_s); var iot = require('socket.io').listen(server_t); var path = require('path'); server_s.listen(ports); server_t.listen(portt); student.use(express.static(path.join(__dirname, 'public'))); student.get('/', function(req,res){ res.sendfile(__dirname + '/login.html'); }); teacher.use(express.static(path.join(__dirname, 'public'))); teacher.get('/', function(req,res){ res.sendfile(__dirname + '/mytry.html'); }); ios.sockets.on('connection', function(socket){ var username, password; socket.on('check',function(data){ username = data[0]; password = data[1]; //************* Database connection and query ************* var mysql = require('mysql'); var connection = mysql.createConnection({ host : 'localhost', user : 'user', password: '*******', database: 'my_db' }); connection.connect(); var qstring = 'SELECT s_id FROM login_student WHERE username='+username+'AND password='+password; connection.query(qstring, function(err, rows, fields) { if (err) { console.log('ERROR: ' + err); socket.emit('login_failure','DB error'); return; } console.log('The solution is: ', rows[0].solution); if (rows>0) //***** Here i want redirection to another page ****** else socket.emit('login_failure','Invalid Username or password'); }); connection.end(); }); }); iot.sockets.on('connection', function(socket){ ; }); }); Can anyone suggest what should I do?

  • Horizontal(tabbed) menu with ability to wrap overflowed items into collapsible dropdown

    - by wik
It's about html/css/javascript menu ;) I am looking for unified solution to hide extra tabs of horizontal/tabbed menu when it overflows it's container. The initial idea plagiarized from firefox tabs workflow, i.e. when you have too much tabs it will wrap extra ones into collapsible dropdown button "List all tabs". I am thinking to play with overflow:auto in conjunction with javascript, but is there anything like this already implemented or maybe some better idea? Thanks.

  • Xpath expression to retrieve oldest/earliest node

    - by gkrogers
I have an XML snippet, so: <STATES> <STATE> <NAME>Alabama</NAME> <ABBREVIATION>AL</ABBREVIATION> <CAPITAL>Montgomery</CAPITAL> <POPULATION>4661900</POPULATION> <AREA>52419</AREA> <DATEOFSTATEHOOD>14 December 1819</DATEOFSTATEHOOD> </STATE> <STATE> <NAME>Alaska</NAME> <ABBREVIATION>AK</ABBREVIATION> <CAPITAL>Juneau</CAPITAL> <POPULATION>698473</POPULATION> <AREA>663268</AREA> <DATEOFSTATEHOOD>1 January 1959</DATEOFSTATEHOOD> </STATE> <STATE> <NAME>Delaware</NAME> <ABBREVIATION>DE</ABBREVIATION> <CAPITAL>Dover</CAPITAL> <POPULATION>885122</POPULATION> <AREA>2490</AREA> <DATEOFSTATEHOOD>7 December 1787</DATEOFSTATEHOOD> </STATE> </STATES> <etc, etc.> I want to retrieve (for example) the capital of the oldest state (i.e. "Dover"). I have managed to get this far: //STATES/STATE[DATEOFSTATEHOOD='7 December 1787']/CAPITAL/text() but can't figure out how to say 'DATEOFSTATEHOOD={the earliest DATEOFSTATEHOOD}'. Can anybody point me in the right direction, please? SOLUTION: Matt's solution is more or less spot on. I had to reformat the dates (I used YYYYMMDDD) because, as was pointed out, Xpath 1.0 doesn't support the date format I was using. Also, Microsoft's XML library (4.0 and 6.0) returned the whole node list with Matt's expression. Reversing the test fixed that problem, making it return just the earliest node. So: //STATES/STATE[(DATEOFSTATEHOOD < //STATES/STATE/DATEOFSTATEHOOD)]/CAPITAL/text()

  • rawurlencode() and urlencode() not working in CodeIgniter

I am trying to encode a string into a safe url for generic purposes, and neither rawurlencode() nor urlencode() work when using CodeIgniter. I have used them and they work pefectly fine with straight PHP, but for whatever reason, it doesn't work. I haven't been able to find any others with this problem and thus no solution. Code: <a href="/search/degree/<?=rawurlencode($row->degree)?>" class="element_link"><?=$row->degree?></a>

But we need some way to provide sommon title for all pages, so title would look like this: My default title - Current page title Any ideas how to solve this?

  • Display numbers from 1 to 100 without loops or conditions

    - by Harsha
Is there a way to print numbers from 1 to 100 without using any loops or conditions like "if"? We can easily do using recursion but that again has an if condition. Is there a way to do without using "if" as well? Also no repetitive print statements,or a single print statement containing all the numbers from 1 to 100. A solution in Java is preferable.

  • Optimizing a memoization decorator not increase call stack

    - by Tyler Crompton
I have a very, very basic memoization decorator that I need to optimize below: def memoize(function): memos = {} def wrapper(*args): try: return memos[args] except KeyError: pass result = function(*args) memos[args] = result return result return wrapper The goal is to make this so that it doesn't add on to the call stack. It actually doubles it right now. I realize that I can embed this on a function by function basis, but that is not desired as I would like a global solution for memoizing. Any ideas?

  • Connecting click signal to QGraphicsView

    - by viraptor
Hi, how can I connect a clicked() signal to a widget which doesn't seem to handle it (like QGraphicsView). If I try to rely on autoconnect, I get only: QMetaObject::connectSlotsByName: No matching signal for on_xxx_clicked() What's the solution for situations like that? Thanks
