    I'm just trying to figure out exactly what kind of script this is, and where I can find more info on implementing it. Not sure exactly what to call it. If you click on one of the speakers here, you can see it in action: http://www.howconference.com/speakers/

  • jQuery javascript dynamic menus with mbMenu plugin

    - by lafoaug
    Im using the MbMenu jQuery plugin. http://plugins.jquery.com/project/mbMenu http://pupunzi.open-lab.com/2009/01/18/mbmenu/ I am probably being ridiculously stupid but I wish to have multiple menus on the same page, but not load them from external files (the html structure of the menu already exists on the page). To me the only place you define what menu is linked to the element you call buildMenu on is the 'template' construction which is a external file. Thanks.

  • ODBC: when is the best time to create my database?

    - by mawg
    I have a windows program which generates PGP forms which will be filled in later. Those PHP forms will populate a database. It looks very much like MySql, but I can't be certain, so let's call it ODBC. And, yes, it does have to be a windows program. There will also be PHP forms which query the database - examine which tables and fields it contains and then generates forms which can be used to search the database (e.g, it finds a table with fields "employee_name", etc and generates a form which lets you search based on employee name. Let's call that design time and run time. At design time, some manager or IT guy or similar gets to define the nature of the database and at runtime 1) a worker fills in the form daily and 2) management can extract reports. Here's my question: given that the database is defined at "design time" (and populated at run time), where and how is best to do so? 1 I could use an ODBC interface from the windows program, but I am having difficulty finding something good to work with Delphi. Things like ADO and firebird tend to expect you to already have a database and allow you to manipulate it, but I can find no code example of how to create a database and some tables, so ... 2 I could used DOS commands from Delphi in my windows program. I just tried and got a response to MySql --version, but am not sure if MySql etc are more interactive. That is, can I use a script file or a very long stacked command with semicolons and returns separating? e.g 'CREATE DATABASE db; CREATE TABLE t1;' 3) Since the best way to work with databases seems to be PHP, perhaps my windows program could spit out a PHP page which would, when run in a browser, create the database. I have tried to make this as uncomplicated as I can, but please feel free to ask questions. It may be that there are several valid ways, but there is probably one 'better' solution in terms of ease of implementation or maintenance. Better scratch option 3. What if the user later wants to come back and have the windows program change the input form? It needs to update the database too.

  • Calling an object method from an object property definition

    - by Ian
    I am trying to call an object method from an object (the same object) property definition to no avail. var objectName = { method : function() { return "boop"; }, property : this.method() }; In this example I want to assign the return value of objectName.method ("boop") to objectName.property. I have tried objectName.method(), method(), window.objectName.method(), along with the bracket notation variants of all those as well, ex. this["method"], with no luck.

  • Using jQuery to perform a GET request and using the resulting data

    - by Filip Ekberg
    I have a page, let's call it "callme.html" which only has this content: abc Now I want to fire the following: $.get("callme.html", function (data) { alert(data); }, "text"); I am using jQuery 1.4.2 mini and the page is called but the alert is empty. Any ideas why? I'd like the popup to contain abc I've also tried the following $.ajax({ url: "callme.html", async: false, success: function (data) { alert(data); } });

  • How do I specify a relative local file path in DOS?

    - by donde
    I am using c#.NET 2.0 to execute DOS commands to ftp a file. All works except for 1 thing, in the cmd file I call, it runs a PUT statement. Right now the put statement has a hardcoded local file path. I need to specify a dynamic path. I've tried put %~dp0\myfile.DTL myfile.dtl but it says it can't find the file.

  • How do I write to command line in c#?

    - by ben
    Hi I know how to write to console but if I write to console in my program and call my program from the command line it won't display anything. How do I make it so that when I say Console.WriteLine or Console.Out.Writeline ir prints to the command prompt from which it was called and not somewhere else? Once again I know how to do Console.WriteLine so it's not that :-p unless I'm doing it wrong. From what I can tell it's probably something to do with Console.SetOut(TextWriter t)

  • How to determine if object in another AppDomain has gone

    - by Dmitry Lobanov
    I instantiate an object of some class in other ApDomain using CreateInstanceAndUnwrap(). I can determine if this object resides in other domain by using RemotingServices.IsTransparentProxy(). But can I determine if the real remote object has gone away (e.g. was garbage collected) without probing a call on proxy and catching RemotingException? Is it possible?

  • How can I run an external program from C and parse its output?

    - by Josh Matthews
    I've got a utility that outputs a list of files required by a game. How can I run that utility within a C program and grab its output so I can act on it within the same program? UPDATE: Good call on the lack of information. The utility spits out a series of strings, and this is supposed to be complete portable across Mac/Windows/Linux. Please note, I'm looking for a programmatic way to execute the utility and retain its output (which goes to stdout).

  • No Matching Function Error for inserting into a list in c++

    - by Josh Curren
    I am getting an error when I try to insert an item into a list (in C++). The error is that there is no matching function for call to the insert(). I also tried push_front() but got the same error. Here is the error message: main.cpp:38: error: no matching function for call to ‘std::list<Salesperson, std::allocator<Salesperson> >::insert(Salesperson&)’ /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/4.3.4/include/c++/bits/list.tcc:99: note: candidates are: std::_List_iterator<_Tp> std::list<_Tp, _Alloc>::insert(std::_List_iterator<_Tp>, const _Tp&) [with _Tp = Salesperson, _Alloc = std::allocator<Salesperson>] /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/4.3.4/include/c++/bits/stl_list.h:961: note: void std::list<_Tp, _Alloc>::insert(std::_List_iterator<_Tp>, size_t, const _Tp&) [with _Tp = Salesperson, _Alloc = std::allocator<Salesperson>] Here is the code: #include <stdlib.h> #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <string> #include <list> #include "Salesperson.h" #include "Salesperson.cpp" #include "OrderedList.h" #include "OrderedList.cpp" using namespace std; int main(int argc, char** argv) { cout << "\n------------ Asn 8 - Sales Report ------------" << endl; list<Salesperson> s; int id; string fName, lName; int numOfSales; string year; std::ifstream input("Sales.txt"); while( !std::getline(input, year, ',').eof() ) { input >> id; input >> lName; input >> fName; input >> numOfSales; Salesperson sp = Salesperson( id, fName, lName ); s.insert( sp ); //THIS IS LINE 38 ************************** for( int i = 0; i < numOfSales; i++ ) { double sale; input >> sale; sp.sales.insert( sale ); } } cout << endl; return (EXIT_SUCCESS); }

  • ASP.NET MVC Inheriting from ProfileBase

    - by Glen
    I have 2 related issues. I inherited from ProfileBase and I have a couple of properites as such public SomeType PropertyName { get { return (SomeType)base["PropertyName"]; } set { base["PropertyName"] = value; Save(); } } I also have a User class (UserId, UserName, Profile, LastActivityDate) that has 2 additional properties out of the profile that I retrieve in my View to show a list of Users (i.e. @Model.Profile.PropertyName). However, everytime I access a property (from my View) it seems to update the LastActivityDate in the aspnet_Users table because when I show the LastActivityDate as well as the profile properties on my screen the LastActivtyDate is out of sync with the database. Also there is a LastActivityDate property available in my profile which unfortunately is not available and is in fact set to null and throws an exception when accessing it saying the property UserName is null. So the static Create method provided by ProfileBase seems to retrieve the correct profile properties but does not set the base's UserName property even though you pass in a UserName parameter to the Create method. Is this a internal bug? I was kind of hoping if by accessing the property because the LastActivityDate is updated then I could store that value to update my LastActivityDate in my User class before it is rendered to the page. The only way I can think of doing it is: public SomeType PropertyName { get { SomeType result = (SomeType)base["PropertyName"]; OnLastActivityDateChanged(); return result; } set { base["PropertyName"] = value; } } then in my User class: ... public MyProfile() { Profile.LastActivityDateChanged += Profile_LastActivityDateChanged(); } ~MyProfile() { Profile.LastActivityDateChanged -= Profile_LastActivityDateChanged(); } ... void Profile_LastActivityDateChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Run a query to get the latest LastActivityDate this.LastActivityDate = ... } It seems I have to make 1 call to retrieve the full list to my aspnet_Users table then another call for each row just to get the latest activity date. ARGGGGHHH!!! Am I going about this the wrong way! I put an ajax refresh hyperlink next to each User row and when I click it, immediately after loading the page, the value changes. Therefore my suspision is valid that calling a property via the inherited profilebase class updates the value. Is there a workaround? It is a bit miss leading when my page says User Smith has no activity for 4 days then I click my ajax refresh link (or refresh the whole page for that matter) and now it says Smith was active but it was just me meally showing the page that indirectly caused an activity read event.

  • How to tell if a DLL function is being called from a VB6 exe?

    - by aiGuru
    I have an old VB6 app and I'm not sure which code was used to compile it. One revision of the source makes a call to Sleep in kernel32.dll. Is there a way to find out if the exe calls a specific function in a DLL? I can see that kernel32.dll is linked by using the "Dependency Walker" tool but that doesn't seem to tell me that a specific function is called from the exe.

  • Getting installed app size

    - by alex
    I'm trying to figure out how to get the size of an installed app. What's already failed: - new File('/data/app/some.apk') - reports incorrect size - PackageManager.getPackageSizeInfo(String packageName, IPackageStatsObserver observer) - is @hide and relies on some obscure IPackageStatsObserver for result so I can't call it via reflection.

  • How to create a non-persistent (in memory) http cookie in C#?

    I want my cookie to disappear when the user closes their brower-- I've already set some promising looking properties, but my cookies pop back to live even after closing the entire browser. HttpCookie cookie = new HttpCookie("mycookie", "abc"); cookie.HttpOnly = true; //Seems to only affect script access cookie.Secure = true; //Seems to affect only https transport What property or method call am I missing to achieve an in memory cookie?
