How can I tell if SP1 has been installed on VS2008? e.g. If I'm working on a co-worker's machine - how can I tell if he/she has installed SP1 for VS2008?
I have been searching for an easy way to get the ServerName of the machine where Symfony runs in Symfony (so that my app adapts when it is used on a host with a different ServerName), but I couldn't find one. I created a variable in app.yml and I fetch it, but I still wonder if there is no easier way to do this.
How are you doing this? I'm using Symfony 1.2 and 1.4 on different projects.
The default output of File.toURL() is
file:/c:/foo/bar
These don't appear to work on windows, and need to be changed to
file:///c:/foo/bar
Does the format
file:/c:/foo/bar
work correctly on Unix (I don't have a Unix machine to test on)? Is there a library that can take care of generating a URL from a File that is in the correct format for the current environment?
Hi all,
I want to know the way to add new asterisk applications and modules. For example I don't have the SetGlobalVar application in my asterisk machine.I want to add that.Is there any way.

hi there, what i wana know is that how can i use assembly that is register in GAC in my C# application.
Detail: What i wana achieved is that
1) Check ABC assembly that is register in my client machine or not from my windows
application
2) If not then register that assemble in GAC of client from my windows application
3) And use this assembly and perform some functions
Remember that that ABC assemble is my assembly having some of my function.
Dear all. I was wondering if there are examples of situations where you would purposefully pass an argument by value (deep copy) in C. For instance, passing a char to a function is usually cheaper in space than passing a char* (if there's no need to share the value), since char is 1 byte and pointers are, well, whatever they are in the architecture (4 in my 32 bit machine). ?(When) do you want to pass (big) deep copies to functions? if so, why?
I have a socket application which I can use in local network, at home.
I can make them communicate for example from 192.168.x.x to 192.168.y.y ip addresses.
What should I do if I want to use the application over internet, from a remote machine, not local. For example which ip addresses should I use if my friend who lives another country wants to access my application.
Here is a scenario: User installs .NET application that you have made. After some time, you find a security issue in it and create a patch for it. When patch is ready, you post it "somewhere", and when next Windows update is run on user's machine (automatically or manually), that application is updated, too. I'm wondering if this is possible...and how? Searching on MSDN about it, didn't give any results.
I am getting started with Postgresql, I converted a MS SQL DB but I cannot understand why
SELECT * FROM TABLE doens't work
while
SELECT * FROM "TABLE" does
Moreover from another machine, connecting to the same DB I can run
SELECT * FROM TABLE (without ")
It's a PG-newbie question, I hope you can help.
I have a text file sitting on client machine and want to move it to the database server (MS SQL 2008) but I don't have any access to the server except MSSQL client. Can I transfer this file to the server using SQL client connection?
hello.
This is not hundred percent programming related question, but I was not able to find answer on the net.
Is there some kind of detector to record frequency/intensity of light radiation source? something like spectroscopy detector, but instead of actual machine, just the module which can be integrated in project. I have tried searching on Google but I do not even know what such device is called
if you know the more appropriate place to ask, can you let me know please.
Thank you
Hi!,
I have setup svnserve server (1.6.5,plain, without apache) on Fedora.
I start the svnserve with the command
'svnserve -d --foreground --listen-port=3690 -r /usr/local/svn-repos/proj-test'
When user trying to checkout working copy from the local machine with command
'svn checkout svn://127.0.0.1/proj-test' gets following error
svn: URL 'svn://127.0.0.1/proj-test' doesn't exists
but, 'svn checkout svn://localhost/proj-test' works.
I am curious to know why using 127.0.0.1 with svn:// fails?
Thanks.

I'm going to write a program that plots data from a sensor connected to the computer. The sensor value is going to be plotted as a function of the time (sensor value on the y-axis, time on the x-axis). I want to be able to add new values to the plot in real time. What would be best to do this with in C++?
Edit: And by the way, the program will be running on a Linux machine

Hey All,
assuming I'm running a small shop (3 devs) and using a Windows 7 machine as a centralised Git and IIS server what is the easiest way to get CI up and running?
This must be locally hosted CI (no github, no remote servers).
I'm doing C# .Net development with Visual Studio 2008.
Any help on getting this running with the minimum of effort and the nicest possible UI would be extremely helpful.
Thanks!
On Linux, normally I use ptrace function to trace all syscall, and kill the process if the it tries to do anything harmful to my machine, such as system("shutdown -s -t 00") or so.
Is there a way for me to do this on Windows?
EDIT: I want to write Sandbox program to limit time and memory usage of its child that can work on both Windows and Linux, and now it can only run on Linux via ptrace
Hi all, I just set up Mercurial on our main webserver, hosting repositories via hgwebdir.cgi. The problem I'm having now is when I run hg push from my local machine to the server's repository, it takes an absolutely ridiculous amount of time to push a very small directory, with only a single changeset. Is it possible that I've set something up wrong? I keep getting HTTP Error 502: Bad Gateway.
Thanks!
Is it possible to use a font not on the user's machine for text displayed in a java applet.
Like linking to a ttf font file in the same location as the java applet almost in an @fontface fashion.
Hi,
I'm currently using ANT for building my Java project on a Windows XP machine.
In my build.xml file I've defined 3 task and I would like that,in case of fail,a default task be executed before closing the building and exiting (like a recovery procedure). I would like to know if it's possible.
thanks
We are using VC++ to connect to the SQl2005 Express in my local machine.
But we are able to access when there is network connectivity to my system.
But we are not able to access when we are removed the network connectivity.
Please help me out if any one faced with this scenario.
<Binary Id="binUpdate" SourceFile="c:\xxx\Update.exe"/>
<CustomAction Id="Update" BinaryKey="binUpdate" Execute="deferred" ExeCommand="c:\xxx" />
When I build a Wix project with the above custom action, it complains that "The system cannot find the file 'C:\xxx\Update.exe".
This update.exe is deployed by the same msi. So, how do I make Wix to ignore the fact that the file does not exist on my build machine?
Thanks in advance
I know there are tools like Salamander that can compile a .NET WinForms apps to fully native code with no need for the CLR/.NET Framework to be on a machine. Is this possible for WPF apps as well?
