  • Is it possible to mask CALayer in iPhone?

    - by Eonil
I'm trying to mask CALayer with a bitmap image. And I failed masking CALayer. My code is: // 'PreloadViewController layerWithImageNamed' create a layer and set it's contents as specified UIImage. CALayer* title = [PreloadViewController layerWithImageNamed:@"pinkhug_txt.png"]; [[[self view] layer] addSublayer:title]; CALayer* title_mask = [PreloadViewController layerWithImageNamed:@"hug_mask.png"]; [title setMask:title_mask]; The Apple reference says "CALayer in iPhone does not support mask property". But there is a postings about this on SO. Is it possible? Or what's wrong with my code?

  • Send SMS from iPhone app

    - by Ali
I wanted to design an app that would send SMS messages to your contacts from within the app in the background. However, I cannot seem to find any tutorials on it and the Apple Docs arent anyhelp. I have also read somewhere that it is outright impossible. But if so, how does the app, iDistress manage to do it? It send text messages from preselected contacts with a custom message : http://www.buzapp.com/idistress.html Check out the screencast. Thanks.

  • Is there a way to read what NSLog is writing from within the app?

    - by Jared P
I have already tried stderr = stdout = fopen("/Users/Jared/Desktop/Untitled.txt", "w"); just as a test (obvi not production code) and this works fine for printf and some errors, but fails to redirect NSLog. I would like to be able to read what is being sent to NSLog as a string, and preferably prevent it from actually going into the system logs, although I don't particularly care if it has to. I need it to redirect logging from both my own code and apple's frameworks, which is why I can't just write a function that would append logs to a string. Thanks

  • how to fetch app data(name, version, etc.) from android market?

    - by liuxingruo
As we know, the apps in the apple app store has a unique itunes link, and we can fetch app data about the app from app store through the link. I am wondering how can i achieve this in the android market, just like the website http://www.androlib.com/ did? As long as I know, each app in the android market has a ID, which just like "com.gabrouze.magic", and the QR Code can be viewed in "http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=qr&chs=135x135&chl=market://search?q=pname:com.gabrouze.magic". Thanks!

  • How to start a major iPhone app update in Xcode

    - by Eric
I have an app in the iPhone app store and have released several minor updates to it. I want to begin work on some major feature additions and reorganization, but don't want to lose the source code of my most recent version in case everything goes horribly wrong. Should I start a new Xcode project from scratch and copy my existing source in? If I do this will I be able to submit the build from this new project as an update or will Apple complain that the build comes from a different Xcode project? I've seen (but not used) Xcode's "Snapshots" and "Source Control" features - are these what I'm looking for? Any help or direction greatly appreciated.

  • Grafting Scala 2.8 into a Netbeans NBAndroid Project...What steps am I missing?

    - by Michael Kohout
Hi All; Due to Apple's recent T+C hijinks, I've become interested in developing for Android. Anyways, I'm trying to get a mixed-language Android 2.1 project going in Netbeans 6.8 (with the NBAndroid 0.10 plugin). The two languages being Java and Scala(2.8 head build). To give you a basic idea of what the app does right now, it's just a simple "Hello World" app. To get this to build, I've modified the projects's build.xml file: -- -injars ${scala-library}(!META-INF/MANIFEST.MF,!library.properties) -outjars "${build.classes.dir}/classes.min.jar" -libraryjars "${file.reference.android.jar}" -dontwarn -dontoptimize -dontobfuscate -keep public class * extends android.app.Activity -keep public class scala.xml.include.sax.Main** I've gotten the project so that it'll build, but it errors on startup in my Android Emulator(inside the emulator Android tells me my application has stopped unexpectedly). So my questions are: Does anyone see what I may be doing wrong? And is there any way to get access to the logs that the emulator must create? thanks Mike Kohout

  • WPF: How to get the event when one FrameworkElement comes in contact with other FrameworkElement

    - by Raghav
I am developing a small application with images and trash box icon on right hand bottom. I have multiple images floating in the main window, and using mouse I can move image from one corner to other corner of window, left, right, top and bottom. I can't figure out how do I catch an event when a image touches and panel (with trash box image), in the right hand corner. Does anybody knows which event or handler to listen? This is not a drag and drop case since my images are floating so no point using drag and drop. Thank you

  • Using Subversion in Xcode

    - by Kevin L.
It seems that all of the initial Google results for "using subversion with xcode" are actually just tutorials for installing and configuring svn and Xcode, as opposed to actually using the two (i.e. interacting with svn via Xcode's GUI). Is anyone aware of a good guide that teaches the tricks and pitfalls of working with svn via Xcode's GUI? Something that bridges the gap between the most excellent Version Control with Subversion book and the Xcode IDE (as in pure Xcode GUI without any terminal command use)? Edit: We all love our terminal commands, and we all love Eclipse but (and I mean this in the nicest possible way) neither is really the point of the question. I’d prefer to use svn via Xcode’s IDE instead of via terminal just as I prefer (well, for this case) to code in Xcode’s IDE instead of using vim and gcc. Apple engineers spent a good bit of time implementing that SCM menu in Xcode; someone has to have seen a usage guide somewhere.

  • How to programmatically alpha fade a textured object in OpenGL ES 1.1 (iPhone)

    - by PewterSoft
I've been using OpenGL ES 1.1 on the iPhone for 10 months, and in that time there is one seemingly simple task I have been unable to do: programmatically fade a textured object. To keep it simple: how can I alpha fade, under code control, a simple 2D triangle that has a texture (with alpha) applied to it. I would like to fade it in/out while it is over a scene, not a simple colored background. So far the only technique I have to do this is to create a texture with multiple pre-faded copies of the texture on it. (Yuck) As an example, I am unable to do this using Apple's GLSprite sample code as a starting point. It already textures a quad with a texture that has its own alpha. I would like to fade that object in and out.

  • How to recreate the default UIView the same as the default tableView:viewForHeaderInSection:?

    - by Hoang Pham
I tried to implement the - (UIView *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView viewForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section to get the text label of the header in section of black color instead of the white color, but it looks so different from the default one created by the SDK, mine is so ugly. How to recreate the UIView with exactly the same as the one from the SDK? From Apple documentation: Discussion The table view uses a fixed font style for section header titles. If you want a different font style, return a custom view (for example, a UILabel object) in the delegate method tableView:viewForHeaderInSection: instead.

  • HTML5 video on iPad

    - by mrollinsiv
    I have a dynamic video gallery and it works great on a computer. When moving to an iPad, the video starts loading and it shows the cannot play icon. Instead of this I'd rather the video not show until it's ready to play. I have tried to add events listeners for "canplaythrough" and "canplay" and when they occur for the video to fade in then play. Does the iPad not support these events? new_video = document.createElement('video'); new_video.setAttribute('class', 'none'); new_video.setAttribute('width', '568'); new_video.setAttribute('height', '269'); new_video.setAttribute('id', 'video'+video_num); current_video.insertBefore(new_video, video_controls); new_video.load(); new_video.addEventListener('canplaythrough', function() { $('#video'+video_num').fadeIn(100); new_video.play(); });

  • Monotouch Binding to Linea Pro SDK

    - by jeffrapp
I'm trying to create a binding to the Linea Pro (it's the barcode scanner they use in the Apple Stores, Lowes) SDK. I'm using David Sandor's bindings as a reference, but the SDK has been updated a few times since January of 2011. I have most everything working, except for the playSound call, which is used to, well, play a sound on the Linea Pro device. The .h file from the SDK has the call as follows: -(BOOL)playSound:(int)volume beepData:(int *)data length:(int)length error:(NSError **)error; I've tried using int[], NSArray, and an IntPtr to the int[], but nothing seems to work. The last unsuccessful iteration of my binding looks like: [Export ("playSound:beepData:length:")] void PlaySound (int volume, NSArray data, int length); Now, this doesn't work at all. Also note that I have no idea what to do with the error:(NSError **)error part, either. I am lacking some serious familiarity with C, so any help would be extremely appreciated.

  • Placing figure in top-right corner of another

    - by Ivan Dubrov
I want child figure (org.eclipse.draw2d.Figure) to be relative to the top-right corner of the parent (I want place some small icon, which will be ImageFigure, to be 12 pixels from top and right borders). Is there an existing layout manager that can layout child this way? The org.eclipse.draw2d.XYLayout is not capable of measuring position relative to corner other than top-left. Of course, I can: Write layout manager myself Layout children figure every time bounds are changed for the parent (in parent layout() method). However, I would like to know if some existing layout manager provides that functionality.

  • Rails form submission

    - by Danny McClelland
Hi Everyone, I have a simple form to enter details of a new case (kase), it's working well and clicking submit stores the information and takes the user to the show.html.erb page. However, I wanted to move part of the form to the sidebar - to make things a little easier to see and use for the user, however, when I moved the section to the sidebar - anything entered during either a creation or edit within those sidebar fields is ignored. Any idea how I keep the fields in the sidebar, but include them as before? <% content_for :header do -%> Cases <% end -%> <% form_for(@kase) do |f| %> <%= f.error_messages %> <!-- #START SIDEBAR --> <% content_for :sidebar do -%> <% if @kase.avatar.exists? then %> <%= image_tag @kase.avatar.url %> <% else %> <p style="font-size:smaller"> You can upload an icon for this case that will display here. • WPF UC in Winforms occasionally has an odd border to the left / visually corrupted

    - by Ryan ONeill
I have a WPF user control I created that is used to show the state of tasks in my UI. I get the odd report back that the control sometimes has a nasty looking border to the left and I cannot reproduce it. The control looks like this (when working) (grey tick=not run, green=OK,red cross=fail, hourglass=running); It looks like this when the problem occurs; It may have something to do with the layering of those icons, when the state changes the others are made invisible and the relevant icon is made visible. The four icons are all stacked on top of each other. It could also be the background in theory, which I'll look at next. Problem is reported on both flat panel and CRT displays. Any guidance greatly appreciated. Update: 1) SnapsToDevicePixels does not affect the issue. 2) Grid is not used, only a canvas.
