  • Multihomed Windows server and DNS resolution

    - by mpkilroy
I have a Windows 2008 server with two IP addresses assigned to a single NIC. The DNS settings are setup to register the connections's addresses on the DNS server. nslookup shows both IP addresses for the server name. How is name resolution done in this case, i.e. which IP address does the DNS server return for a host lookup? Or does it return both, and the client selects one of the addresses?

  • IBM Websphere MQ Server alternatives

    - by I Clark
Are there any alternatives to IBM Websphere MQ Server for Windows? We need to access a remote Queue Manager that doesn't support client connections (only Queue Manager to Queue Manager). I've noticed that there are some BizTalk Host Integration adapters but they only seem to behave as clients (one transactional, the other non-transactional).

  • Sendmail smtp-auth issues

    - by SlackO
I'm running into a problem with Sendmail trying to implement SMTP- auth. I"m running 8.14.5 and have saslauthd running under FreeBSD 7.0-R. I don't believe I have starttls enabled (but I also compiled a version with it and have been testing it too - same problem) - just looking for basic auth, but am wondering if my configuration is not compatible with modern mail clients? I don't think I have any certs set up. It seems an older version of Microsoft Outlook Express works fine with SMTP-auth with no problems, but Outlook 2010 won't work, and neither will Eudora (basic settings to not use encryption and use same uid/pw as pop3 account name) When trying to send mail the server reports: "550 571 Relaying Denied. Proper authentication required." Is there some config that I am missing? Why does it work with Outlook Express but not other e-mail clients? my site.config.m4 has: APPENDDEF(confENVDEF',-DSASL=2') APPENDDEF(conf_sendmail_LIBS',-lsasl2') dnl APPENDDEF(confLIBDIRS',-L/usr/local/lib/sasl2') APPENDDEF(confLIBDIRS',-L/usr/local/lib') APPENDDEF(confINCDIRS',-I/usr/local/include') My sendmail.mc has: define(ConfAUTH_OPTIONS',A') TRUST_AUTH_MECH(LOGIN PLAIN')dnl define(ConfAUTH_MECHANISMS',`LOGIN PLAIN')dnl My /usr/local/lib/sasl2/Sendmail.conf has: pwcheck_method: saslauthd When I restart sendmail this shows up in the logs: Jun 16 12:36:24 x sm-mta[79090]: restarting /usr/sbin/sendmail due to signal Jun 16 12:36:24 x sm-mta[81145]: starting daemon (8.14.5): SMTP+queueing@00:30:00 Jun 16 12:36:24 x sm-mta[81147]: STARTTLS=client, relay=mxgw1.mail.nationalnet.com., version=TLSv1/SSLv3, verify=FAIL, cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA, bits=256/256 Jun 16 12:36:24 x sm-mta[81148]: STARTTLS=client, relay=mxgw1.mail.nationalnet.com., version=TLSv1/SSLv3, verify=FAIL, cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA, bits=256/256 testing on the cmd line: telnet localhost 587 Trying 127.0.0.1... • Change the default browser which Kopete opens when you click a link?

    - by HorusKol
I have FireFox as my desktop's default browser (Ubuntu/Gnome 9.10) and most applications open links into FF readily enough, including Choqok (a KDE twitter client). But Kopete insists on opening Konqueror - which is annoying as it takes an age to load, while FF is almost always open an simply needs a new tab. I've checked though the preferences of Kopete, and can't seem to find anything to make it use FF.

Cooling fan necessary for a laptop similar to the ASUS K73E? I'm not entirely sure about this, after working with one the other day for a client, it seemed like it was running pretty cool, but I'm not sure if the computer was actually running cool or if it had more to do with IceCool Technology feature that keeps the mouse and palm rest area cool. The bottom of the laptop didn't seem very warm either...does anyone have any experience with the ASUS K73E where the thing burned up with normal usage?

  • active-to-passive ftp solution

I have an ftp client (.NET app I don't have the source to) that only does active mode that needs to push data to an appliances ftp-server that only speaks passive. There is nothing I can do to modify the software on either end; but everything in between is fair game. (routing, windows or linux software, firewall tricks, ...) Is there some kind of ftp proxy software? Or some kind of solution I could try?

I've been building a simple webpage in Fireworks that is very similar to one that we have on our website currently. I'm worried because it saves it as a .png file and I don't have a ton of experience with web design.

  • Command-line connect to wired network for Ubuntu

I like to know how to use command-line to connect to a wired network in general for Ubuntu 8.10? In my case, I connect a cable to my laptop but it doesn't work with my WICD. • Are there any good utilities out there to create datastore / LUN diagrams for VMware ESX 3.5?

    - by rhart
We are working to get a large (inherited) VMware ESX 3.5 environment with multiple SANs under control. We first need to create a diagram / Excel spreadsheet / whatever that explains what VM is stored where. This is a rather time-consuming task to complete by just using the VI client to copy down everything. Is there a good script or tool out there that can do this for us? I would like to see: VM Name, LUN, Actual file-name/location of VMDK/VMX, Power State, Host Any ideas?

  • multiple puppet masters set up using inventory

    - by Oli
I have managed to set up multiple puppet masters with one puppet master acting as a CA and clients are able to get a certificate from this CA server but use their designated puppet master to get their manifests. See this question for more info.. multiple puppet masters. However, there are a couple of things I have had to do to get this working correctly and have an error which I'll get to. First of all, to get inventory working for a puppet-client (PC) connecting to its designated puppet-master (PM), I had to copy the CA certs on PM1 to the PM2 ca directory. I ran this command: scp [email protected]:/var/lib/puppet/ssl/ca/* [email protected]:/var/lib/puppet/ssl/ca/. Once i have done that, I was able to uncomment the SSLCertificateChainFile, SSLCACertificateFile & SSLCARevocationFile section of my rack.conf VH file on the PM2. Once I had done this, inventory started to work. Does this sound an acceptable way to do things? Secondly, in the puppet.conf file, I am setting the designated PM server for that client. Unless there is a better way, this is how it'll work in my production setup. So PC1 will talk to PM1 and PC2 will talk to PM2. This is where I have an error. When PC2 first requests a cert from the CA on PM1, the cert appears and then I sign the cert on the CA on PM1. When I then do a puppet agent --test on PC2 (which has server = PM2 in puppet.conf), I get this error: Warning: Unable to fetch my node definition, but the agent run will continue: Warning: Error 403 on SERVER: Forbidden request: puppet-master2.test.net(10.1.1.161) access to /certificate_revocation_list/ca [find] at :112 However, if I change the PC2 puppet.conf file and specify server = PM1 and the rerun puppet agent --test, i do not get any errors. I can then revert the change in the puppet.conf file back to server = PM2 and everything seems to run normally. Do I have to set up some kind of ProxyPassMatch on PM2 for requests made from clients to /certificate_revocation_list/* and redirect them to PM1? Or how can I fix this error? Cheers, Oli

  • SSL certificate for Oracle Application Server 11g

    - by Easter Sunshine
I was asked to get an SSL certificate for an "Oracle Application Server 11g" which has a soon-to-expire certificate. Brushing aside the fact that 10g seems to be the newest version, I got a certificate from InCommon, as I usually do without problem (except this is the first time I supplied Oracle Application Server 11g as the software type on the CSR form). On the email containing links to download the certificate, it mentioned: Certificate Details: SSL Type : InCommon SSL Server : OTHER I forwarded the email over to the person responsible for installing it and got a reply that the server type must be Oracle Application Server for the certificate to work (the CN is the same as before). They were unable to install this certificate (no details provided to me) and mentioned they had this issue previously with Thawte when they didn't supply Oracle Application Server as the server type. I don't see any significant difference between the currently installed certificate (working) and the new one I just got signed by InCommon (not working). $ openssl x509 -in sso-current.cer -text shows, with irrelevant information ommitted. • Pushing WiFi configuration through Active Directory

I'm trying to push wifi settings to client computers through Active Directory, something that will add a defaul SSID to connect to and a WPA password. The only thing I've heard of is a script by Aruba labs called wificfg_xp.exe on a couple of forums (Here and here), but the link to the download page is always broken. Does any one know of an alternative way to download this file, or another way to push these settings with AD?

  • Chrooted pygopherd fails to find new directories and files

    - by Carsten R
I tried to setup a Pygopherd on my server. The default setup works fine, but when I try to change the gophermap to point to a new directory with a new file, I get an error message in my gopher client: --- [1] '/path/to/gopher/newdir' does not exist (no handler found) First I thought this is caused by the chroot in which pygopherd runs as default. But when I disable the chroot, the same error comes up. Did anyone successfully set up pygopherd or knows about a better gopher server?
