I would like to find out from .NET code whether DirectX 10 is supported on themachine, preferably without using managed DirectX or XNA assemblies.
Thank you in advance!
Do you know how to make it more stable, maybe properties to set, memory to allocate?
It always hangs up when redeploying web apps, thru manager (wars), web interface or maven plugin.
every second time it gives PermGenSpace, no memory errors etc.
on my local machine 3gb ram.
It looks like it should be manually set up to work in a stable way.
How to fix such a problem?
I got asked this question once and still haven't been able to figure it out:
You have an array of N integers, where N is large, say, a billion. You want to calculate the median value of this array. Assume you have m+1 machines (m workers, one master) to distribute the job to. How would you go about doing this?
Since the median is a nonlinear operator, you can't just find the median in each machine and then take the median of those values.
I've been using FDT for a long long time, on my new machine, with the Enterprise edition, I cannot add breakpoints on the editors gutter, and the debugger doesn't show any variables when testing with the external player.
Any ideas on how to fix, is it some obscure Eclipse setting, or and FDT setting?
Hi,
i have a wcf service which runs perfectly on my dev machine (vs2010, target 3.5) but once deployed, it shows me the code behind of the service (actually the plain text of the .svc file) and not the normal service page:
<%@ ServiceHost Language="C#" Debug="true" Service="SilverlightPoc.Web.FinanceData" CodeBehind="FinanceData.svc.cs" %>
Anyone any idea why the .svc file is rendered as plain text and not as wcf service?
I' m using Visual Studio to create windows installer package, i can't add the folders and data files needed for the application. I create the folders needed for the application in the 'application folder'(under 'File System on Target Machine'), then add files into the appropriate folders, and when i install the application and go to the installation folder there are no folders...there is only the application exe file, hm...
I just logged onto http://www.ezsvn.com, that hosts my SVN repository. I have been paying monthly for hundreds of commits.
They're shutting down, and their support is nonexistent.
Can I get a backup of my repository from my machine? I’m using Windows.
Minor version numbers notwithstanding, what OS do you use for your own development machine?
Are you forced to use a virtual appliance or server to run any programs that you need?
Do you know of any surveys related to this question?
On my local machinethe script runs fine but in the cloud it 500 all the time. This is a cron task so I don't really mind if it takes 5min...
:
Any idea whether it's possible to increase the timeout?
Thanks,
rui
Hi All,
Not able to create standalone python binary package
1) The binary package works only on themachine on which it is build
2) There is always an error with respect console.py dependent on cx_freeze and wx libraries (.so files).
3) Tried the rpath trick suggested at this link http://wiki.wxpython.org/CreatingStandaloneExecutables
4) I have also experimented with GUI2exe , but still dependency problem exists.
Please let me know if there is working python script to solve these dependence problem of cx_freeze and wx._core (.so) files.
Thank you
I have a piece of code that looks like this:
Dir.new(path).each do |entry|
puts entry
end
The problem comes when I have a file named ???????.txt in the directory that I list.
On a Windows 7 machine I get the output:
???????.txt
From googling around, properly reading this filename on windows seems to be an impossible task. Any suggestions?
Hello all, I have a python script and am wondering is there any way that I can ensure that the script run's continuously on a remote computer? Like for example, if the script crashes for whatever reason, is there a way to start it up automatically instead of having to remote desktop. Are there any other factors I have to be aware of? The script will be running on a window's machine.
Hello,
I have an update panel which contains a few controls, a Place Holder which is dynamically populated (i don't know if this is what is causing the error) and after the a post is made the server is returning 0|error|500| only that, everything is working fine in my development machine, but something is wrong on server (Windows Server 2008, IIS 7) any thoughts about what's happening or any approach to catch that error on server and view the details of the error.
thanks.
I am having a weird experience. I am dynamically creating a row of textboxes at runtime when the user clicks a button.
However, on my local machinethe text boxes appear correctly (example
[TextBox1] [TextBox2] [TextBox3] [TextBox4] [TextBox5]
[TextBox1] [TextBox2] [TextBox3] [TextBox4] [TextBox5]
[TextBox1] [TextBox2] [TextBox3] [TextBox4] [TextBox5]
When I run this app on the production, the output side-by-side is:
[TextBox1][TextBox1] [TextBox2][TextBox2] [TextBox3][TextBox3] [TextBox4][TextBox4]
The output should be one row of textboxes, then a second row of 5 text boxes
Anyone experience this?

How are paths determined on a remote machines?
I have been assigned a network loaction. Let's call it \wassup\test1
I assume that wassup is the ame of the computer. The question I have is this. How can I determine what the local path from the point of view of the remote machine would be for "test1". For example, how would I know if it is c:\test1 or d:\test1 ?
I have a system where a website needs to be hosted on a Linux machine while a backend application that the site talks to needs to reside on Windows.
Is there any "common practice" for such hosting?
Note - both of the systems are mine so there is the dilemma of whether to have the machines physically located together to avoid delay for calls over the net.
i have a litle project for which i would like to remove all files outside of and not needed by the c:\windows operating system. therefore i need to create a list of what i want to keep i.e. boot.ini c:\windows etc and then delete everything else. i have seen examples using forFile, but i can be sure that extension will be on themachine. does anyone have any ideas how i can create the exclude list and then do the delete?
There is an issue with PostSharp 1.5 and 2.0 that won't let you install it on the Windows 7 machine with the error message ".NET Framework 2.0 is not present on this computer". To work around the issue you have to run the installer while being logged in with Administrator account. Not Admin group and not "run as Administrator", you have to be logged in with the Administrator account. Hope that helps, if someone has the same issue.
This object always uses the default on the system, so on an x64 machine, it will use an x64 Internet Explorer object.
Is there any way I can force it to use the x86 IE? The web page element the browser accesses does not work on x64 and is out of my control.
I was editing a file on my local machine and I was ready to commit to the repository except that instead of running the svn commit, I ran svn update. Is there any way I can retrieve the changes that I had? I was working on a tex file in vim and I had closed the file before running svn update.
From wiki: In computing, just-in-time compilation (JIT), also known as dynamic translation, is a technique for improving the runtime performance of a computer program.
So I guess JVM has another compiler, not javac, that only compiles bytecode to machine code at runtime, while javac compiles sources to bytecode,is that right?
I know this is more like a serverfault question than a stackoverflow question, but since serverfault isn't up yet, here I go:
I'm supposed to move an application from one redhat server to another, and without very good knowledge of the internal workings of the application, how would I move the OpenLDAP database from the one machine to the other, with schemas and all.
What files would I need to copy over? I believe the setup is pretty standard.
I need to provide a C++ application as a service. Client of the service and the service can be on the same machine or distributed on different machines based on the load. This application takes a ~2KB string as input and returns almost similar size of string after some processing. Turnaround time for the client should be really quick. What is the best mechanism to implement this?
I m connecting the access 2007 database from 5 different machines. (C#.Net)
I m having this error message:
The database has been placed in a state by user 'Admin' on machine XXXXX that prevents it from being opened or locked
