  • Sending Data as Instances using Python Sockets

    - by Alice
I'm working on the networking part of a 2 player game (similar to tetris), and I'm trying to pass the game grid from client to server and vice versa. However, when I tried using send(grid) I get a TypeError: send() argument 1 must be string or read-only buffer, not instance. Is there anyway to circumvent this, or do I have to convert my grid instance into a string and then interpret it from the other side? Thanks in advance!

  • handling matrix data in python

    - by Ovisek
I was trying to progressively subtract values of a 3D matrix. The matrix looks like: ATOM 1223 ZX SOD A 11 2.11 -1.33 12.33 ATOM 1224 ZY SOD A 11 -2.99 -2.92 20.22 ATOM 1225 XH HEL A 12 -3.67 9.55 21.54 ATOM 1226 SS ARG A 13 -6.55 -3.09 42.11 ... here the last three columns are representing values for axes x,y,z respectively. now I what I wanted to do is, take the values of x,y,z for 1st line and subtract with 2nd,3rd,4th line in a iterative way and print the values for each axes. I was using: for line in map(str.split, inp): x = line[-3] y = line[-2] z = line[-1] for separating the values, but how to do in iterative way. should I do it by using Counter.

  • How to **delete-protect** a file or folder on Windows Server 2003 and onwards using C#/Vb.Net?

    - by Steve Johnson
Hi all, Is it possible to delete-protect a file/folder using Registry or using a custom written Windows Service in C#? Using Folder Permissions it is possible, but i am looking for a solution that even restricts the admin from deleting specific folders. The requirement is that the administrator must not be easily track the nature of protection and/or may not be able to avert it easily. Obviously all administrators will be able to revert the procedure if the technique is clearly understood. Like folder Permissions/OwnerShip Settings can easily be reset by an administrator. SO that is not an option. Folder protection software can easily be uninstalled and show clear indication that a particular folder is protected by some special kind of software. SO that too is not an option. Most antivirus programs protect folders and files in Program Dir. Windows itself doesnt allow certain files such as registry files in c:\windows\system32\config to not even copied. Such a protection is desired for folders which allowse to read and write to files but not allow deletion. Similar functionality is desired. The protection has to seemless and invisible. I do not want to use any protection features like FolderLock and Invisible secrets/PC Security and Desktop password etc. Moreover, the solution has to be something other than folder encryption. The solution has to be OS-native so ** that it may implemented ** pro grammatically using C#/VB.Net. Please help. Thanks

  • ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException trying to access data

    - by Eggy
    I am getting an array index out of bounds exception in the following code: for (int i=1; i<11; i++) { int a[][] = new int[10][3]; double LeftTrim = 1.0; double RightTrim = 1.0; a [i][0]=(int) (LeftTrim*((i)*25)); a [i][1]=(int) (RightTrim*((i)*25)); a [i][2]= 5000; //leftWheel, rightWheel, Milliseconds myf.setWheelVelocities(a[i][0], a[i][1], a[i][2]); JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, + (a [i][0] + a [i][1])/2 + "wheel velocities" + " | " + a [i][2] + " Milliseconds" + " Click OK to continue..."); } Every-time I reach the 9th increment Eclipse gives me the error "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 10" I have to test the velocity up to 250, but when I reach 225 and I click 'Ok' on 'Click ok to continue..." this error shows up! Am I going out of the array bounds or something? Thank you!

  • Caching vector addition over changing collections

    - by DRMacIver
I have the following setup: I have a largish number of uuids (currently about 10k but expected to grow unboundedly - they're user IDs) and a function f : id - sparse vector with 32-bit integer values (no need to worry about precision). The function is reasonably expensive (not outrageously so, but probably on the order of a few 100ms for a given id). The dimension of the sparse vectors should be assumed to be infinite, as new dimensions can appear over time, but in practice is unlikely to ever exceed about 20k (and individual results of f are unlikely to have more than a few hundred non-zero values). I want to support the following operations efficiently: add a new ID to the collection invalidate an existing ID retrieve sum f(id) in O(changes since last retrieval) i.e. I want to cache the sum of the vectors in a way that's reasonable to do incrementally. One option would be to support a remove ID operation and treat invalidation as a remove followed by an add. The problem with this is that it requires us to keep track of all the old values of f, which is expensive in space. I potentially need to use many instances of this sort of cached structure, so I would like to avoid that. The likely usage pattern is that new IDs are added at a fairly continuous rate and are frequently invalidated at first. Ids which have been invalidated recently are much more likely to be invalidated again than ones which have remained valid for a long time, but in principle an old Id can still be invalidated. Ideally I don't want to do this in memory (or at least I want a way that lets me save the result to disk efficiently), so an idea which lets me piggyback off an existing DB implementation of some sort would be especially appreciated.

  • Filtering Data in a Text File with Python

    - by YAS
I'm new to Python (like Zygote new), and it's just to supplement another program but what I need is I have a text file that's a group of items for a game and it is formatted so: [1] Name=Blah Faction=Blahdiddly Cost=1000 [2] Name=Meh Faction=MehMeh Cost=2000 [3] Name=Lollypop Faction=Blahdiddly Cost=100 And I need to be able to find out what groups (the numbers in brackets) have matching values. So if I search Faction=Blahdiddly Group 1 & 3 will come up. I unfortunately have NO idea how to do this. Can anyone help?

  • ASP.NET DynamicData: Whats happening during an update?

    - by Jens A.
I am using ASP.NET DynamicData (based on LINQ to SQL) on my site for basic scaffolding. On one table I have added additional properties, that are not stored in the table, but are retrieved from somewhere else. (Profile information for a user account, in this case). They are displayed just fine, but when editing these values and pressing "Update", they are not changed. Here's what the properties look like, the table is the standard aspnet_Users table: public String Address { get { UserProfile profile = UserProfile.GetUserProfile(UserName); return profile.Address; } set { UserProfile profile = UserProfile.GetUserProfile(UserName); profile.Address = value; profile.Save(); } } When I fired up the debugger, I've noticed that for each update the set accessor is called three times. Once with the new value, but on a newly created instance of user, then once with the old value, again on an new instance, and finally with the old value on the existing instance. Wondering a bit, I checked with the properties created by the designer, and they, too, are called three times in (almost) the same fashion. The only difference is, that the last call contains the new value for the property. I am a bit stumped here. Why three times, and why are my new properties behaving differently? I'd be grateful for any help on that matter! =)

  • How to extract data out of a specific PHP array

    - by user77413
I have a multi-dimensional array that looks like this: The base array is indexed based on category ids from my catalog. $categories[category_id] Each base array has two underlying elements: ['parent_category_id'] ['sort_order'] I want to create a function that allows us to create a list of categories for a given parent_category_id in the correct sort order. Is this possible? Technically it is the same information, but the array is constructed in a weird way to extract that information.

  • which type is best for three radiobuttons?

    - by Manog
Maybe you consider this question trivial but im just curious what is your opinion. I have three radiobuttons. "Show blue", "Show red" and "Show all". I did it with nullable boolean. There is collumn in database where blue is 0 and red is 1 so in metode i have to translate bool to int to compare those values (i do it in c#).Of course it works, but i wonder if it is the best solution. And question is wich type is best in this case? nullable bool, int, or maybe string?

  • Is is faster to filter and get data or filter then get data ?

    - by remi bourgarel
Hi I have this kind of request : SELECT myTable.ID, myTable.Adress, -- 20 more columns of all kind of type FROM myTable WHERE EXISTS(SELECT * FROM myLink WHERE myLink.FID = myTable.ID and myLink.FID2 = 666) myLink has a lot of rows. Do you think it's faster to do like this : SELECT myLink.FID INTO @result FROM myLink WHERE myLink.FID2 = 666 UPDATE @result SET Adress = myTable.Adress, -- 20 more columns of all kind of type FROM myTable WHERE myTable.ID = @result.ID

  • Using a Data Management Singleton

    - by Dan Ray
Here's my singleton code (pretty much boilerplate): @interface DataManager : NSObject { NSMutableArray *eventList; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *eventList; +(DataManager*)sharedDataManager; @end And then the .m: #import "DataManager.h" static DataManager *singletonDataManager = nil; @implementation DataManager @synthesize eventList; +(DataManager*)sharedDataManager { @synchronized(self) { if (!singletonDataManager) { singletonDataManager = [[DataManager alloc] init]; } } NSLog(@"Pulling a copy of shared manager."); return singletonDataManager; } So then in my AppDelegate, I load some stuff before launching my first view: NSMutableArray *eventList = [DataManager sharedDataManager].eventList; .... NSLog(@"Adding event %@ to eventList", event.title); [eventList addObject:event]; NSLog(@"eventList now has %d members", [eventList count]); [event release]; As you can see, I've peppered the code with NSLog love notes to myself. The output to the Log reads like: 2010-05-10 09:08:53.355 MyApp[2037:207] Adding event Woofstock Music Festival to eventList 2010-05-10 09:08:53.355 MyApp[2037:207] eventList now has 0 members 2010-05-10 09:08:53.411 MyApp[2037:207] Adding event Test Event for Staging to eventList 2010-05-10 09:08:53.411 MyApp[2037:207] eventList now has 0 members 2010-05-10 09:08:53.467 MyApp[2037:207] Adding event Montgomery Event to eventList 2010-05-10 09:08:53.467 MyApp[2037:207] eventList now has 0 members 2010-05-10 09:08:53.524 MyApp[2037:207] Adding event Alamance County Event For June to eventList 2010-05-10 09:08:53.524 MyApp[2037:207] eventList now has 0 members ... • Passing data to a jQuery click() function

    - by jakenoble
Hi I have a simple span like so <span class="action removeAction">Remove</span> This span is within a table, each row has a remove span. And then I call a URL using AJAX when that span is clicked. The AJAX event needs to know the ID of the object for that row? What is the best way of getting that ID into the click function? I thought I could do something like this <span class="action removeAction" id="1">Remove</span> But an ID should not start with a number? Right? Then I thought I could do <span class="action removeAction" id="my1">Remove</span> Then just strip the 'my' part from the ID, but that just seems Yuk! Below is my click event and where my AJAX event is. <script type="text/javascript" language="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $(".removeAction").click(function() { //AJAX here that needs to know the ID } }); </script> I am sure there is a nice way of doing this? Thanks. Jake.
