This works slightly better then my previous version, it figures out the framework directory on the fly.

I've been searching everywhere for a solution to this problem and I'm pretty new to Linux. I have followed the instructions on several blogs about installing Maya 2012 on Ubuntu, but when I try to run Maya via the "maya" command, I receive this error:
/usr/autodesk/maya2012-x64/bin/maya.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Can anyone help? I have no idea what to do...
I asked this question in SuperUser one hour ago, then I know this community so I moved the question here...
I've been running Ubuntu 10.10 in a physical x86-64 machine. Today Update Manager reminded me that there are some updates to install and I confirmed the action. I should had read the update list but I didn't. I can only remember there is an update about cups. After the upgrading, Update Manager requires a restart and I confirmed too. But after the restart, the computer can't start up. There are errors in the console.

At the moment, I can't input anything in the console. The keyboard doesn't work at all. What's wrong? How can I check boot args or "root=" as suggested? How can I fix this issue? Thanks.

PS1: the /dev/sda1 is type ext4 (rw,nosuid,nodev)
PS2: the /dev/sda1 can be mounted and accessed successfully under SUSE 11 SP1 x64.
PS3: From this link, I think the keyboard doesn't work because the USB driver is not loaded at that time.
Recently redid a website and changed the directory / URL structure. I did some .htaccess redirects for the main landing pages - however when reviewing web master tools received 404 errors for the rest of the changed URLs and noticed that Google dropped my site from the #1 position to around the 5th page.
I corrected all the 404s by providing redirects in the .htaccess, resubmitted the site map and tested the google crawl bot.
Will my page regain its rank by itself - or am I going to have to put some time into like I originally did?
I wish to know if there is a tool like this to replace windows explorer and similar in the work of managing files, specially those web-site structures that sometimes can get very big. I am asking it here because I sincerely do not know what terms to use in Google to find anything like it.
It is like a diagram, but showing the tree directory structure and the contents of every folder at the same time, not just the one that is in focus.
If your connection to the smartview provider is very slow, because the login part takes a long time (user directory slowness, ...), consider adding on the desktop side a Windows parameter:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings\
ReceiveTimeout 300000
to avoid being prompted over and over again for username/password
This is an addition to the support doc id: "Smart View 11.1.2.1 Keeps Prompting For Username And Password For Financial Management Provider [ID 1353294.1]"
I am trying to get Juju working on Windows 8 but I am running in to some errors when trying to get juju to see my ssh keys:

error: error parsing environment "azure":

I've added a public key I generated with putty to the directory above called azure
My environments.yaml file has this in it:
authorized-keys-path: C:\Users\user\SkyDrive\Documents\Azure\ssh\
Any ideas?
I mounted my nas in ubuntu 12.10 and it works with read/write, but when I'm adding a file or directory that file gets read only permissions.
My fstab mount looks like this:
//192.168.0.12/share/ /media/nas cifs credentials=/home/jocke/.smbcredentials,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 0 0
If I mount the smb share manualy through the GUI it works, but not through fstab.
What I am doing wrong?

Joe Stagner extends the tutorials for the TailSpin SpyWorks sample Web Forms application with a new video series detailing the entire development process. The first 3 videos cover the initial steps of implementing a template, directory organization, and building a category menu.
Right-click in the main panel allows to change icons associated to files of directories, and this is cool for content organization and so on.
Unfortunately, right click on small directories on the side pane does not allow to change its properties (such as icon).
I try to change the original directory icon, expecting that its side pane version would change accordingly, but surprisingly, nothing appends...
Any idea?
Some years/versions ago I found a script that took the Directory group/permissions of the current folder for NEW files Sub-Folders
Currently when I import Photographs into 12.04 using Shotwell, I have to use terminal to issue: chgrp photography *.JPG. This enables other ubuntu members of 'photography' group to add these files to their version of Shotwell.
I find modifying the Folder Properties/Permissions will NOT set the Group on 'Apply Permissions to Enclosed Files'

For just one minute stop and imagine the power of article marketing and exactly what it can do for you and your business. Original content is by far the best and using it to your advantage is to submit it to just one directory. There are literally thousands of article sites to submit to. Articles are a way to reach massive crowds in a very short period of time.

My friend has recently bought a second-hand vehicle with an in-car computer and it's wired up to a touchscreen monitor on the dashboard (very impressive!).
Now, I've helped him install Ubuntu on it today but we can't establish the make and model of the connected touchscreen monitor to try and source the drivers to make the touchscreen function work.
Are there any Linux commands to work out the make / model of an attached monitor? I've tried Google which pointed me towards the /etc/X11 directory but have had no joy with that.
Sorry if this is a duplicate, I looked.
We're moving to Git. In Subversion, I'm used to having \trunk, \branches and \tags folders.
With Git, switching between branches will replace the contents of the working directory, so am I right to assume that the way we used to work just doesn't apply with Git?
My guess is that I'd have a repo folder with maybe a gitignore and readme.txt, then the folders for the projects that make up the repo, and that's it.
Outbound links are links that exist or are put in a particular website's article or blog for an external source. Though a feature that has many advantages, in recent times many search engines have acknowledged outbound links to decrease a site's rankings on a search engine directory.

Tia,
How to make application for wifi triangulation using android platform? This project will be implemented inside the building. No GPS needed. Just using wifi only and doing triangulation to get the current position of the user inside the building. I got minimum 3 access point to implement it. But how to start code in android and integrate triangulation inside android coding?
I got the algorithm to do it.. but is there any chance that I can get it done? Because this project is actually want to replace the floor directory board into a smartphone floor directory so that user can find their way to their room for example to the lab.

I want to log every time I run a certain type of command in the terminal. For example, every time I run:
sudo apt-get install [something]
I want to add [something] to a log file in my home directory that will look like the following:
[timestamp] [something]
2012-10-02 mysql-server
2012-10-03 ruby1.9.1
2012-10-06 gedit-plugins
2012-10-07 gnome-panel synaptic
What's the easiest way to make this happen automatically?
I usually do some pieces of code in Fortran and C for my job, but since some days ago I get the following error:
$ gfortran D.f -o D.x
gfortran: error trying to exec 'f951': execvp: No such file or directory
(I have Ubuntu 14.04 on a I7, 8cores and 64b)
I did try searching on the forums and several option but nothing seems to work ... Could somebody help ... ?
I guess the problem started when I did something to install adobereader and/or skype.
Some time ago when I installed Ubuntu I chose a rather stupid username for my account that I do not want to use anymore.
How do I change this (including the name of my home directory) without loosing settings for applications? How do I keep permissions and my keys for various authentification (e.g. email, SSH, GPG and more)? What settings could possibly get lost if I changed my username?
Both, command-line and graphical solutions are appreciated.
I'm renting server space from someone and, upon logging in my control panel after quite sometime, noticed an abnormal spike (~50MB) in the disk usage. Upon investigating, I found a lot of core.* files scattered around my public_html directory. Each one is more than 5MB in size but no more than 6MB. The * part is all numbers (in programming regex, that should be core\.\d+).
I downloaded one and checked the contents. There was a lot of balderdash characters (NUL mostly, but also a scattering of ETB, ETX, STX) but there's this block of readable text which says:
This text is part of the internal format of your mail folder, and is not
a real message. It is created automatically by the mail system software.
If deleted, important folder data will be lost, and it will be re-created
with the data reset to initial values.
Pretty self-explanatory. A few blocks above the text are some more readable messages that look like logs but is sandwiched in between non printable characters. I've extracted some below.
Scan not valid for mh mailboxes
Bogus character 0x%x in news state
Can't rewrite news state %.80s
Error closing backup news state %.80s
No state for newsgroup %.80s found
Now, a few concerns: Am I under attack? The messages seem to be about my webmail but I don't use my personal webmail that much---only for a vanity email address and an inbox for an outdated comments system. However, lately, I seem to notice a spike in the spam for my vanity mail. (Note: the comments system is covered by a captcha but every now and then some get through. My vanity email has a spam filter but it isn't as good as I'd like).
Next, if this is a feature, can I turn it off? Is it advisable to? I've only 150MB so you see why I'm fretting over a 50MB spike.
Some final details: my only server-side scripts are in PHP. The directory which accumulated the most number of these core files is the one containing the Wordpress-managed subdomain of my site. I manage my server through CPanel. Lastly, I decided to delete this files and after some checking nothing seems amiss in my websites nor in my mail. They are indeed the ones responsible for the ~50MB spike as my disk space usage is back to expected.

How to find web hosting that meets my requirements?
Looking for to make a quick site and have the following requirements:
It's free
No ADs, frames, etc
Support for directory/site password
Allow web-based or FTP file transfer
Allows 100 MB to 1 GB of storage
custom short URL or sub-domain
Realize this might be very narrow, but figured I'd ask just in case there was a good solution.
