  • AudioQueue in-memory playback example

    - by Jonesy
Does anybody know of any examples using AudioQueue that play from an in-memory source? All the examples I can find play from files (using AudioFileReadPackets) but in my particular case I am generating the data myself in realtime so ideally, I want to enqueue the data myself rather than sucking it out of a file using the callback. Any help much appreciated.

  • PerformSelectorInBackground leaking on device

    - by Oysio
    While it seems to not pose a problem on the simulator, using performSelectorInBackground on the device causes memory leaks. Or at least that's what Instruments indicates. Looking at the code I don't have a single clue what the cause could be. I tried to strip the affected code to a bare minimum but still strangely Instruments keeps showing a leak every time this piece of code is executed. Anything unusual going on here? //In viewcontrollerA: -(void)mainLoop { [self.viewControllerB performSelectorInBackground:@selector(calculateTotals) withObject:nil]; //This gives the same problem //[NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(calculateTotals) toTarget:self.viewControllerB withObject:nil]; //UI stuff ... } //viewControllerB: -(void)calculateTotals { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; //Heavy calculations ... [pool release]; }

  • performSelectorInBackground: using self.object ?

    - by Emil
Hey. I am trying to load an image for a custom tableViewCell. The code gets run from the CustomCell-class (CustomCell.h) from [cell performSelectorInBackground:@selector(loadImageFromURL:) withObject:[NSURL URLWithString:urlString]]; in the cellForRowAtIndexPath:-function. Cell gets created here: CustomCell *cell = (CustomCell *) [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil){ NSArray *topLevelObjects = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"CustomCell" owner:self options:nil]; for (id currentObject in topLevelObjects){ if ([currentObject isKindOfClass:[CustomCell class]]){ cell = (CustomCell *) currentObject; break; } } } CustomCell.h: // ... IBOutlet UIImageView *cellImage; } - (void) loadImageFromURL:(NSURL *)url; // … CustomCell.m: - (void) loadImageFromURL:(NSURL *)url { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSLog(@"Loading image..."); [loadingImage startAnimating]; [self.cellImage setImageWithURL:url]; [loadingImage stopAnimating]; NSLog(@"Done loading image..."); [pool release]; } setImageWithURL: is a function from the SDWebImage-framework that rs has made. The real error is that the image doesen't show up. EDIT: When I cleared the app's cache, the images didn't show up anymore. EDIT: Seems like URL is nil for some reason. Am I passing the object in the selector correctly? Can you see anything wrong? Thanks.

  • Why isn't UIScrollView always calling viewDidLoad on subviews?

    - by Rob S.
I'm a bit confused on the behaviour of UIScrollView as it pertains to subview loading. In my app, I lazily load subviews into my scroller. Most of the time, -viewDidLoad is called on the subview immediately after adding it the UIScrollView. There is one scenario where it isn't being called. At the 'end' of my scroll view I have a "please wait" view. When it is fully scrolled on to the page, it fades out, I add the subview and -viewDidLoad is not called. In this case, when I remove the last subview and add another subview, I get nothing. I've tried [scrollView setNeedsDisplay] and [scrollView setNeedsLayout] to no avail. I've also sent the same messages to the view I just added - no dice. Does anyone have any insight here? Many people have many questions about -viewDidLoad and I haven't been able to find one related to direct subviews inside of a scrollview. Or I have and I haven't realized it :) Thanks in advance! Rob

  • How do I make my NSNotification trigger a selector?

    - by marty
Here's the code: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSURL *musicURL = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://live-three2.dmd2.ch/buureradio/buureradio.m3u"]; if([musicURL scheme]) { MPMoviePlayerController *mp = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:musicURL]; if (mp) { // save the music player object self.musicPlayer = mp; [mp release]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(popBack:) name:@"MPMoviePlayerDidExitFullscreenNotification" object:nil]; // Play the music! [self.musicPlayer play]; } } } -(void)popBack:(NSNotification *)note { [self.navigationController popToRootViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } The selector method never gets called. I just want to pop back to the root menu when the "Done" button is pressed on the movie player. I put an NSLog in the selector to check if it was even being called, nothing. The music plays fine. Any thoughts?

  • Preserve onchange for a dropdown list when setting the value with Javascript.

    - by Zac Altman
I have a dropdown list with a piece of code that is run when the value is changed: <select name="SList" onchange="javascript:setTimeout('__doPostBack(\'SList\',\'\')', 0)" id="SList"> Everything works fine when manually done. As an option is selected, the onchange code is called. The problem begins when I try to change the selected value using a piece of Javscript. I want to be able to automatically change the selected option using JS, whilst still having the onchange code called, exactly as if done manually. I try calling this: form.SList.value = "33"; The right option is selected, but the onchange code does not get called. So then I try doing this: form.SList.value = "33"; javascript:setTimeout('__doPostBack(\'SList\',\'\')', 0); The right value is not selected and nothing happens. FYI, the code is done in ASP.NET and Javascript. What can I run to change the selected option whilst still calling the onchange code?

  • CMBufferQueueCreate fail, required parameters?

    - by Agustin
Reading the documentation about iOS SDK CMBufferQueueCreate, it says that getDuration and version are required, all the others callbacks can be NULL. but running the following code: CFAllocatorRef allocator; CMBufferCallbacks *callbacks; callbacks = malloc(sizeof(CMBufferCallbacks)); callbacks->version = 0; callbacks->getDuration = timeCallback; callbacks->refcon = NULL; callbacks->getDecodeTimeStamp = NULL; callbacks->getPresentationTimeStamp = NULL; callbacks->isDataReady = NULL; callbacks->compare = NULL; callbacks->dataBecameReadyNotification = NULL; CMItemCount capacity = 4; OSStatus s = CMBufferQueueCreate(allocator, capacity, callbacks, queue); NSLog(@"QUEUE: %x", queue); NSLog(@"STATUS: %i", s); with timeCallback: CMTime timeCallback(CMBufferRef buf, void *refcon){ return CMTimeMake(1, 1); } and queue is: CMBufferQueueRef* queue; queue creations fails (queue = 0) and returns a status of: kCMBufferQueueError_RequiredParameterMissing = -12761, The callbacks variable is correctly initialized, at least the debugger says so. Somebody have played arround with CMBufferQueue? google doesn't know about that! Thanks

  • Selecting an entire photo album with UIImagePickerController

    - by itai alter
Hello all, I was wondering if there's a way to select an entire photo album with UIImagePickerController. What I have now is a UIImagePickerController with sourceType of PhotoLibrary. It shows the Albums, and navigates inside an album to select a single image... What I want to do is when the user selects the Album, instead of going inside the album, I want to load all the images to an array so I could do a timed slideshow of them. The delegate (DidFinishPickingImage) lets me run code only after the user has already gone into the album and selected a single image. Is there a way to do it? I couldn't find any information on this. Thanks!

  • ASIHTTPRequest on www.blau.de?

    - by rdesign
    Hey guys, I need to login here. I've tried the ASIHTTPRequest and ASIFormDataRequest. None of them works as expected. I only got the data from the loginpage in the response string, not the data from the secure area. What am I doing wrong here? ASIFormDataRequest *request = [ASIFormDataRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"https://www.blau.de/"]]; [request setPostValue:@"USERNAME" forKey:@"quickLoginNumber"]; [request setPostValue:@"PASSWORD" forKey:@"quickLoginPassword"]; [request startAsynchronous];

  • Using objective-c objects with an NSDictionary

    - by Mark
I want store a URL against a UILabel so that when a user touches the label it takes them to that URL in a UIWebView. I have declared a NSDictionary like so: NSMutableArray *linksArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [linksArray addObject: [NSValue valueWithNonretainedObject: newsItem1ReadMoreLabel]]; [linksArray addObject: [NSValue valueWithNonretainedObject: newsItem2ReadMoreLabel]]; [linksArray addObject: [NSValue valueWithNonretainedObject: newsItem3ReadMoreLabel]]; [linksArray addObject: [NSValue valueWithNonretainedObject: newsItem4ReadMoreLabel]]; [linksArray addObject: [NSValue valueWithNonretainedObject: newsItem5ReadMoreLabel]]; //NSString *ageLink = @"http://www.theage.com.au"; NSArray *defaultLinks = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"1", @"2", @"3", @"4", @"5", nil]; self.urlToLinkDictionary = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; self.urlToLinkDictionary = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjects:defaultLinks forKeys:linksArray]; Considering I used a NSValue as the key, how do I get/set the URL associated with that key given that I only have references to the UILabels? this is what I have but it doesn't work: for(NSValue *key in [self.urlToLinkDictionary allKeys]) { if ([key nonretainedObjectValue] == linkedLabel) { [self.urlToLinkDictionary setValue:[newsItem link] forKey: key]; } } but I get an error: "objc_exception_throw" resolved

  • Detect if certain UIView was touched amongst other UIViews

    - by Rudiger
HI Guys, Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I can't seem to get it to work. I have 3 UIViews, layered on top of one large uiview. I want to know if the user touches the top one and not care about the other ones. I will have a couple of buttons in the second UIView and a UITable in the 3rd UIView. Problem is I turn userInteractionEngabled on on the first view and that works, but all the other views respond in the same way even if I turn it off. If I disable userInteractionEnabled on self.view none of them respond. I also can't detect which view was touched in the touchesBegan delegate method. my code: UIView *aView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 150)]; aView = userInteractionEnabled = YES; [self.view addSubview:aView]; UIView *bView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 150, 320, 50)]; bView.userInteractionEnabled = NO; [self.view addSubview:bView]; -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { //This gets called for a touch anywhere } Thanks for any help.

  • Updating a deallocated UIWebView from a background thread

    - by Dan Ray
As you can see from the title, I've programmed myself into a corner and I've got several things working against me... In a UIViewController subclass that manages a large and complex view. One part of it is a UIWebView that contains output from a web request that I had to build and execute, and manually assemble HTML from. Since it takes a second or two to run, I dropped it into the background by calling self performSelectorInBackground:. Then from that method I call there, I use self performSelectorOnMainThread: to get back to the surface of the thread stack to update the UIWebView with what I just got. Like this (which I've cut down to show only the relevant issues): -(void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { //then get mapquest directions NSLog(@"Got called to handle new location!"); [manager stopUpdatingLocation]; [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(getDirectionsFromHere:) withObject:newLocation]; } - (void)getDirectionsFromHere:(CLLocation *)newLocation { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; CLLocationCoordinate2D here = newLocation.coordinate; // assemble a call to the MapQuest directions API in NSString *dirURL // ...cut for brevity NSLog(@"Query is %@", dirURL); NSString *response = [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:dirURL] encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:NULL]; NSMutableString *directionsOutput = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; // assemble response into an HTML table in NSString *directionsOutput // ...cut for brevity [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(updateDirectionsWithHtml:) withObject:directionsOutput waitUntilDone:NO]; [directionsOutput release]; [pool drain]; [pool release]; } - (void)updateDirectionsWithHtml:(NSString *)directionsOutput { [self.directionsWebView loadHTMLString:directionsOutput baseURL:nil]; } This all works totally great, UNLESS I've backed out of this view controller before CLLocationManager hits its delegate method. If this happens after I've already left this view, I get: 2010-06-07 16:38:08.508 EverWondr[180:760b] bool _WebTryThreadLock(bool), 0x1b6830: Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Crashing now... Despite what this says, I can repeatably cause this crash when I back out too early. I'm not at all convinced that attempting a UI update from a background thread is really the issue; I think it's that my UIWebView is deallocated. I suspect that the fact I was just IN a background thread makes the runtime suspect something's up about that, but I feel fairly sure that's not it. So how do I tell CLLocationManager not to worry about it, when I'm backing out of that view? I tried [self.locationManager stopUpdatingLocation] inside my viewWillDisappear method, but that didn't do it. (Incidentally, MapQuest's apis are FANTASTIC. Way WAY better than anything Google provides. I can't recommend them highly enough.)

  • how do i add two delegates to a ui element at run time?

    - by Michael Xu
Hi everyone, im trying to implement some behaviors when a mapview element scrolls... by coding a delegate for the scrollview inside of a mapview. so, right now, i got a pointer to the scroll view used by the map view in my code. however, i wish to set the delegate of this scroll view inside the map view, but the issue is that the mapview already sets up a default delegate for this scroll view inside the map view. can i make my delegate implement all of the messages of the protocol, explicitly sending them to the mapview's default delegate while also implementing my own behaviors? how else can i go about adding my own delegate behavior, to an already existing default delegate....? thanks everyone, michael

  • How can I load a view based on how long I hold a UIButton?

    - by Thomas
Hello all, I've searched the net and documentation, but haven't found anything quite like what I'm trying to do. I'm working on an app where I want to load one view if a UIButton is held for x seconds, another if it's held for x+y seconds, etc. I found this tutorial. The problem I'm running into is, how do I switch the length of the button press? The tutorial switched the number of taps. -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSSet *allTouches = [event allTouches]; switch ([allTouches count]) { case 1: // Single touch { // Get the first touch. UITouch *touch = [[allTouches allObjects] objectAtIndex:0]; switch ([touch tapCount]) { case 1: // Single Tap. { // Start a timer timer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:2 target:self selector:@selector(showAlertView:) userInfo:nil repeats:NO]; [timer retain]; } break; case 2: // Double tap. break; } } break; case 2: // Double touch { } break; default: break; } } Any suggestions? Thanks! Thomas
