  • How can I get jquery .val() AFTER keypress event?

    - by werner5471
I got: $(someTextInputField).keypress(function() { alert($(this).val()); }); Now the alert always returns the value BEFORE the keypress (e.g. the field is empty, I type 'a' and the alert gives me ''. Then I type 'b' and the alert gives me 'a'...). But I want the value AFTER the keypress - how can I do that? Background: I'd like to enable a button as soon as the text field contains at least one character. So I run this test on every keypress event, but using the returned val() the result is always one step behind. Using the change() event is not an option for me because then the button is disabled until you leave the text box. If there's a better way to do that, I'm glad to hear it!

This is what I have, with no luck $(window).bind("load", function() { var slw = $('div.2').height(); var lw = $('div.3').height(); var result = slw += lw; $('div.1').css({ 'height': result + 'px' }); }); TIA

  • How do I stop a jquery animation based on CSS values?

    - by kevn
So, I have two divs: #div1 and #div2. I want '#div2' to disappear when '#div1' has the CSS value: top = 0px. Here is the CSS: #div1 { top: 0px; } #div2 { display: block; } if ( $('#div1').css('top') == '0px' ) { $("#div2").hide(); } else { $("div2").fadeIn(); } $("div2").click(function(){ $("#div1").animate({top:"+=315px"}, "slow"); }); The problem I am running into is that I'm changing that CSS value (for #div1) via Javascript and for this reason, my js doesn't acknowledge the change and doesn't make the div disappear (I think). Is there any way to make #div2 disappear when #div1's CSS property top = 0 and reappear whenever it is changed? Or is there a better way to implement this?

  • How do I use Ajax and Jquery to get an array from PHP and post it?

    - by Jared
Hello, I am using a separate PHP file as a configuration file for everything else on a basic ecommerce site. $product1["short"] = "product one"; $product1["menuimgslideshowsrc"] = "image/product1.jpg"; When I hover over a button, I want to get $product1["menuimgslideshowsrc"] and swap it out with an IMG SRC. I can do the swapping no problem, I need to know how to get the information stored in $product1["menuimgslideshowsrc"]. I assume I would use Ajax, but I am open to other ideas. Thanks in advance.

  • Major JQuery bug on IE not reproducible - What can i do in this situation to solve this bug?

    - by ming yeow
    I am hoping to get some help on this issue. Some users on IE have been reporting this javascript issue, but I have been unable to re-produce it. In essence, for some class of windows IE users, the game doesn't work (or $.ajax() is not working). What I know: I swapped out an ajax call (ajax_init_trainer) and used a standard link with some request parameters to do the initialization and ppl seemed to get passed the problem until they hit the next ajax call. I read somewhere that IE does crazy caching so you need to make the urls unique, which is why i added the _requestno parameter. However, setting the cache:false is said to also do this. This didn't fix it for someone who was complaining. function done(res, status) { var data = JSON.parse(res.responseText); hide_loading(); if (status == "success") { window.location.href="/bamo/battle/?{{ fb_sig}}"; } else { display_alert("Problem!",data.msg,$("#notifications")); } }; $(".monster_select_class").click(function() { $(this).attr("src","{{MEDIA_URL}}/bamo/button_select_click.png"); monster_class = $(this).attr("monster_class"); monster_type = $(this).attr("monster_type"); ajax_init_trainer(monster_class,monster_type); }); function ajax_init_trainer(trainer_class,monster_type) { var data = {trainer_class:trainer_class,monster_type:monster_type}; var d = new Date(); var args = { type:"POST",url:"/bamo/api/init_trainer/?_requestno="+d.getTime(),data:data,contentType:"application/json;", dataType: "json",cache:false,complete:done}; $.ajax(args); return false; };

  • how can i return a string with jQuery from an input and write it to a different html element

    - by user1865231
I am using this: var title = $('#input').val(); $('#titleset').click(function (){ $('#title').html('<h1>' + title + '</h1>'); alert(title); }); to try to get the value of an input box and then when the user clicks the button #titleset, overwrite the value from the input box to the <h1> element that is already there. i have been able to get the click to overwrite the <h1> element, but there is nothing in the title variable to write into the element. so how could i return a string from the #input id and write it to the #title id which is an <h1> element here is my html <h1 id="title">This Title Changes To What You Want It To Be</h1> <ul class="menu1"> <li>menu one <ul> <li id='inputbox'><input type ="text" id="input"/></li> <li id="titleset1"><input type="button" value="set title" id="titleset"/></li> </ul> </li> </ul>

  • jQuery: Preventing an event from being attached more than once?

    - by Evan Carroll
Essentially, I have an element FOO that I want when clicked to attach a click event to a completely separate set of elements BAR, so that when they're clicked they can revert FOO to its previous content. I only want this event attached once. When FOO is clicked, its content is cached away in $back_up, and a trigger is added on the BAR set so that when clicked they can revert FOO back to its previous state. Is there a clever way to do this? Like to only .bind() if the event doesn't already exist? $('<div class="noprint little check" />').click( function () { var $warranty_explaination = $(this).closest('.page').children('.warranty_explaination'); var $back_up = $warranty_explaination.clone(true); $(this).closest('.page').find('.warranties .check:not(.noprint)').click( function () { /* This is the code I don't want to fire more than once */ /*, I just want it to be set to whatever is in the $back_up */ alert('reset'); $warranty_explaination.replaceWith( $back_up ) } ); $warranty_explaination.html('asdf') } ) Currently, the best way I can think to do this is to attach a class, and select where that class doesn't exist.

  • Capture data from jQuery Mobile GUI / form elements like sliders, or the flip switch/toggle, and store in a var?

    - by Carl Foggin
I have this code, which executes without error, it shows "** slider change **" in the debug console every time the slider changes. But I cannot figure out how to capture the value of the slider so I can store it in a var. Can you help, I'm hoping it's a simple thing. $( '#page4_Options' ).live( 'pageinit', function(event){ var slideTime = userOptions.getSlideTime() / 1000; // userOptions is my Object to get/set params from localStorage. $("input[id='slider']").val(slideTime).slider("refresh"); // set default slide time when page init's. console.log("userOptions.getSlideTime()", userOptions.getSlideTime() ); $( "#slider" ).bind( "slidestop", function(event, ui) { console.log("** slider change **"); // How do I capture the new slider value into a var? }); }); Here's the HTML with the slider, it's in a tag: <div data-role="fieldcontain"> <label for="slider">Slide Duration (seconds):</label> <input type="range" name="slider" id="slider" value="2" min="0" max="60" /> </div>

  • jQuery: How can I get the HTML from one div to display in another.

    - by rockinthesixstring
I've got a small script that detects if the user is using Google Chrome var is_chrome = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase().indexOf('chrome') > -1; if(is_chrome){ $('.ifChrome').attr('style', 'display:block;'); $('.ifChrome').html($('noscript > div').html()); }; If they are using chrome, we want to display a div tag and show the HTML from a different div tag inside. <noscript> <div class="note"> Your browser does not properly support the WMD Markdown Editor.<br /> Please use <a href="/about/markdown" target="_blank">Markdown<.a> to style your input. </div> </noscript> <div class="hidden ifChrome note"></div> What I'm trying to do is show the "not supported" text from inside my <noscript> tag to users who are using google Chrome (because WMD Markdown doesn't work properly with Chrome). My existing Javascript is not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • jQuery - How to Prevent Animation Queue Buildup with Double Animations?

    - by Jason
Hello, I was taking a look at this tutorial here to prevent animation buildups: http://www.learningjquery.com/2009/01/quick-tip-prevent-animation-queue-buildup My situation: I am doing a double animation like this below, and would like the prevent the animation build up. Since I have 2 animations going, it seems it ignores the .stop(). What can be done to prevent this? I have tried .stop() on both .animate and if I do that it stops animating... $(document).ready(function() { $('#element').hover(function() { $(this).stop() .animate( { left: 200 }, { duration: 'slow', }) .animate( { top: 200 }, { duration: 'slow', }); } , function() { $(this).stop() .animate( { left: 0 }, { duration: 'slow', }) .animate( { top: 0 }, { duration: 'slow', }); }); }); Any help will be greatly aprecaited!!

  • Creating the same event for 2 different elements in jQuery (not for each one, for both!)

    - by danfromisrael
Hey guys, I'd like to create a toggle event for 2 different TD's in my table row. the event should show / hide the next table row. <table> <tr> <td>1</td> <td>2</td> <td>3</td> <td>4</td> <td>5</td> <td class="clickable1">6</td> <td class="clickable2">7</td> </tr> <tr><td>this row should be toggled between show/hide once one of the clickable TDs were clicked</td></tr> </table> here's the code i tried to apply but it has applied each one of the classes the event: $('.clickable1,.clickable2').toggle(function() { $(this).parent() .next('tr') .show(); }, function() { $(this).parent() .next('tr') .hide(); }); One more thing: i'm applying on each TR a css hover psuedo class. how can i make the two TRs to be highlighted (like hover effect on two of them) ? • Why can't I open a new window on my jquery ajax callback?

    - by KyleGobel
to show my problem in a couple examples... THIS WORKS $.post("SomePage.aspx", { name : "value" }, function (data) { alert(data); }, "text"); THIS DOESN'T WORK $.post("SomePage.aspx", { name : "value" }, function (data) { window.open("http://www.google.com"); }, "text"); In the first example, I get alerted with what i'm expecting. In the second example, nothing happens. No window is opened. If I add an alert or something before or after the window.open call, the alert works fine, but the window doesn't open. If I add a window.open completly after the $.post method, the window opens fine (of course this doens't help me at all). I'm wondering why I can't open a window in the callback. What do I have to do to be able to open a window? I'd like to open a window to show some fancy results. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
