  • How do I show the number of images attached to a post on the image attachment page?

    - by mattloak
I use the image attachment page to show images attached to a post one by one, in a slideshow sort of affect. I'd like to be able to display the total number of images attached to the parent post and the number of the particular image that's being shown on any given attachment page so you see the picture and the words "Image 3 of 15" for example. I've played around with some different code and can get the total number of images to show on the post page, but when I insert the code on the attachment page template it always shows "1 of 1." I was having this problem a while ago and decided to re-address it, unfortunately I don't have the original code that I used and can't remember it. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Supporting twitter-like user page urls with apache/php?

    - by user246114
Hi, I'm using php on apache with mysql. I want to let users enter a url into their browser to see a custom user page for themselves, just like twitter does. For example, they could enter urls like: www.mysite.com/johndoe www.mysite.com/janedoe and see that user's page. How could I do this with php and apache? I don't want to create a folder on disk for every user like above, I'd instead kind of like to catch the url and generate the page on the fly for them, Thanks

Like the title, price, description? What would this process even be called? I have no idea were to even began researching this :'(

  • jQuery: have a child window be notified when parent window goes to a different page?

    - by Heinrich Schmetterling
i have a parent window and a child window. in javascript, i want a function in child window to be called whenever the parent window loads a new page. i'd like to use something similar to jQuery's $(document).ready() so that I don't have to worry about whether the parent is done loading yet - but ready() only appears to fire when the window loads the first page - but not when, say, a link is clicked in the parent and it loads a second page. any suggestions? thanks.

  • How does browser search tool work on web page?

    - by GTM
I am trying to figure out how the search tool in a web browser is being able to parse through the entire web page(assuming huge content on a page) and highlight the result as we type. Does it pre-cache the page while loading in a map or use regex to get a quick result on the fly?

  • How do I change the CSS from a web page contained in an object tag? (XHTML, jquery)

    - by Jose
Hi! I've been having a bit of a problem with jQuery and XHTML. Basically, I've got an object tag that contains a Web Page in its data attribute. Now, what I want is that when I click a button I get this web page and dinamically change the CSS file it's currently using. I've tried to get the page by using jquery, but all I get is the object itself, not the webpage contained in the object. Thanks!! :)

  • Use user control in the same folder as the page.

    - by Alex
I get this message at runtime of ASP.NET 2 page : The page 'MyFolder/blabla.aspx' cannot use the user control 'MyFolder/MyControl.ascx', because it is registered in web.config and lives in the same directory as the page. Of course I can separate them to 2 different folders and thus solve the problem, but the question is : WTF !?!?! Why I can't put them in the same folder ?! Why can't they all .. get along !?! :) Thanks

    - by Amr ElGarhy
I want to change the iframe source when something change in this iframe content, the iframe is in a different domian than the parent page. is this can be done or not? I just need to add a hash to this iframe src, so that i can access this hash value from the parent page and do some stuff based on this value. What i did: In the iframe page i wrote: window.location.hash = "close_child"; and in the parent page i wrote: if (document.getElementById("MyIFrameId").src.indexOf("#close_child") > 0) { but i always find that the src is empty

  • Is it possible for PHP to generate a fresh page on every Javascript history.go(-1) ?

    - by Ho
Hello, I have a PHP page (a.php) which is already sending these headers: <?php header('Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, max-age=0, must-revalidate'); header('Expires: Mon, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT'); header('Pragma: no-cache'); ?> And on the PHP page (a.php) , it has a link to another page (b.html) on b.html, it has a javascript code to: <script type="text/javascript"> history.go(-1); </scirpt> It seems to me that, when the browser is "going back" to a.php, the content isn't fresh at all. Would you please advise me if generating a completely fresh page on history.go(-1) is possible? Thank you.

  • if i have two external hard drives connected to my computer by USB (2.0 i think) will they load with consistent letters?

    - by Bec
(I'm using windows-7 and the hard drives are western digital with whatever formatting they came with from the factory) i'm thinking of setting up two different back-ups one through windows and one with the software that came with the drive (because windows gives me a system image but isn't very user-friendly for my files) but will my computer get confused and load them as different letters each time?

  • What is Rails way to DRY up the controller pattern of verifying :id is for a valid object (else redirect to error page)

    - by jpwynn
One of my controllers has close to 100 methods (eg routes) and nearly every one starts out the same code to redirect to an error page if the id param is invalid, followed by a similar check if the user that id doesn't belong in the user's account: def something @foo = Foo.find_by_guid(params[:id]) unless @foo @msg ||= { :title => 'No such page!', :desc => "There is no such page!" } render :action => "error" and return end unless @foo.owner_id == current_user.id @msg ||= { :title => 'Really?', :desc => "There is no such page." } render :action => "error" and return end What is the best way to DRY up that sort of page id and owner id validation, given the code is doing a render ... and return? What I don't want to do at this point is offload it to a blackbox roles and permissions library like CanCan... my goal is simply to have the in-app code to handle this be as clean as possible.

  • Page specific CSS or a single css file when developing a mobile (webkit) based site?

    - by Mike
I am working on a mobile site for webkit browsers. I have been trying to find information on using multiple style sheets versus a single css file. There is a lot of information on this topic, but it not a lot of information pertaining to mobile browsers. My site will have a bunch of pages that while have page specific css. For a non-mobile site, it seems like generally people say that a single file will be faster, but that multiple files are easier to develop. However, on a mobile site is that still the case? If you put everything in one file, that will get cached after load, but that will make the first load slower. If you had page specific files, the first page would get loaded quicker, but every other page would then take a hit while making the page specific css http request. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? It sounds like they are saying one file is better as long as its under 1 MB (which my files def will)? http://www.yuiblog.com/blog/2010/07/12/mobile-browser-cache-limits-revisited/

  • Wordpress php: Way to test if pages are children of a parent page?

    - by Erykan
Hi - Working on my first Wordpress site so I'm sure this is a really basic question. I'm struggling to write a conditional php statement that performs a certain action when a page is a child of a parent page. For example, rather than just specifying one page, as below, I'd like to specify all pages that have the 'About Us' page as a parent: <?php if (is_page('About Us')) echo 'Hello World!'; ?> I've tried the "child_of" function but it wasn't as straightforward as I'd hoped. When I use the below, I get a syntax error - probably just me not knowing how to use the function: <?php if (child_of('About Us')) echo 'Hello World!'; ?> Any suggestions? Thanks!!

  • htaccess hacked - i've deleted code and file - what next?

    - by user1762595
My website was hacked recently. I think i've found the code that was added to the htaccess file, deleted it and then added script to prevent the htaccess file being accessed again. I've also deleted the php file that the hacked code refers to (common.php). What do i need to do next? I'm not a programmer or website developer but i really wanted to see if i could fix the problem myself as i've spent quite a few hours trying and don't give up easily. Here is the hacked code that i deleted; <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} (google|yahoo) [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} (google|yahoo) RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /$ [OR] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} (shtml|html|htm|php|xml|phtml|asp|aspx)$ [NC] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !common.php RewriteCond /home/httpd/vhosts/bluestardive.com/httpdocs/common.php -f RewriteRule ^.*$ /common.php [L] </IfModule> this code has to stay in the htaccess file as it redirects my url to seo friendly ones or the website errors, but has this code been hacked as well? # Apache search queries statistic module RewriteEngine On AddHandler php5-fastcgi .php .php5 # <contrexx> # <core_modules__alias> RewriteRule ^about-us$ /index.php?page=883 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^ausfluge-und-aktivitaten$ /index.php?page=800 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^bluestardive-news$ /index.php?page=919 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^bookings$ /index.php?page=911 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^diveresort$ /index.php?page=879 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^diving$ /index.php?page=880 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^excursions-and-activities$ /index.php?page=881 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^galerie$ /index.php?section=gallery [L,NC] RewriteRule ^oceannight$ http://www.bluestardive.com/index.php?page=906 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^philosophy$ /index.php?page=846 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^reservation$ /index.php?page=917 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^reservierung$ /index.php?page=918 [L,NC] RewriteRule ^resort$ /index.php?page=798 [L,NC] # </core_modules__alias> # </contrexx> many thanks for any help Claire

  • Last week I was presented with a Microsoft MVP award in Virtual Machines – time to thank all who hel

    - by Liam Westley
MVP in Virtual Machines Last week, on 1st April, I received an e-mail from Microsoft letting me know that I had been presented with a 2010 Microsoft® MVP Award for outstanding contributions in Virtual Machine technical communities during the past year.   It was an honour to be nominated, and is a great reflection on the vibrancy of the UK user group community which made this possible. Virtualisation for developers, not just IT Pros I consider it a special honour as my expertise in virtualisation is as a software developer utilising virtual machines to aid my software development, rather than an IT Pro who manages data centre and network infrastructure.  I’ve been on a minor mission over the past few years to enthuse developers in a topic usually seen as only for network admins, but which can make their life a whole lot easier once understood properly. Continuous learning is fun In 1676, the scientist Isaac Newton, in a letter to Robert Hooke used the phrase (http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/268025.html) ‘If I have seen a little further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants’ I’m a nuclear physicist by education, so I am more than comfortable that any knowledge I have is based on the work of others.  Although far from a science, software development and IT is equally built upon the work of others. It’s one of the reasons I despise software patents. So in that sense this MVP award is a result of all the great minds that have provided virtualisation solutions for me to talk about.  I hope that I have always acknowledged those whose work I have used when blogging or giving presentations, and that I have executed my responsibility to share any knowledge gained as widely as possible. Thanks to all those who helped – a big thanks to the UK user group community I reckon this journey started in 2003 when I started attending a user group called the London .Net Users Group (http://www.dnug.org.uk) started by a nice chap called Ian Cooper. The great thing about Ian was that he always encouraged non professional speakers to take the stage at the user group, and my first ever presentation was on 30th September 2003; SQL Server CE 2.0 and the.NET Compact Framework. In 2005 Ian Cooper was on the committee for the first DeveloperDeveloperDeveloper! day, the free community conference held at Microsoft’s UK HQ in Thames Valley park in Reading.  He encouraged me to take part and so on 14th May 2005 I presented a talk previously given to the London .Net User Group on Simplifying access to multiple DB providers in .NET.  From that point on I definitely had the bug; presenting at DDD2, DDD3, groking at DDD4 and SQLBits I and after a break, DDD7, DDD Scotland and DDD8.  What definitely made me keen was the encouragement and infectious enthusiasm of some of the other DDD organisers; Craig Murphy, Barry Dorrans, Phil Winstanley and Colin Mackay. During the first few DDD events I met the Dave McMahon and Richard Costall from NxtGenUG who made it easy to start presenting at their user groups.  Along the way I’ve met a load of great user group organisers; Guy Smith-Ferrier of the .Net Developer Network, Jimmy Skowronski of GL.Net and the double act of Ray Booysen and Gavin Osborn behind what was Vista Squad and is now Edge UG. Final thanks to those who suggested virtualisation as a topic ... Final thanks have to go the people who inspired me to create my Virtualisation for Developers talk.  Toby Henderson (@holytshirt) ensured I took notice of Sun’s VirtualBox, Peter Ibbotson for being a fine sounding board at the Kew Railway over quite a few Adnam’s Broadside and to Guy Smith-Ferrier for allowing his user group to be the guinea pigs for the talk before it was seen at DDD7.  Thanks to all of you I now know much more about virtualisation than I would have thought possible and it continues to be great fun. Conclusion If this was an academy award acceptance speech I would have been cut off after the first few paragraphs, so well done if you made it this far.  I’ll be doing my best to do justice to the MVP award and the UK community.  I’m fortunate in having a new employer who considers presenting at user groups as a good thing, so don’t expect me to stop any time soon. If you’ve never seen me in action, then you can view the original DDD7 Virtualisation for Developers presentation (filmed by the Microsoft Channel 9 team) as part of the full DDD7 video list here, http://www.craigmurphy.com/blog/?p=1591.  Also thanks to Craig Murphy’s fine video work you can also view my latest DDD8 presentation on Commercial Software Development, here, http://vimeo.com/9216563 P.S. If I’ve missed anyone out, do feel free to lambast me in comments, it’s your duty.
