• Firefox hangs waiting for ssl.google-analytics.com

  It seems that FF has a problem with 403 Access Denied responses from proxies, at least for ssl.google-analytics.com. I've found this post which describes my problem. I'm posting my workaround as an answer, but would also welcome any more information if anyone has it as I can't find anything! EDIT: Note that the current version of Firefox which is experiencing this issue is 3.0.10 EDIT: Still there for FF 3.5...

  Error can be seen here: http://djaffry.selfip.com:8080/ If i go to the folder /srv/twingle/search and do ls -l I get -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 65142784 May 26 20:28 words.db I gave it 777 access (absolutely unsafe, I know, but I thought it would atleast work) any idea what can be the permissions problem? • Preventing Thunderbird to add .txt to attachments on open.

  How can I prevent Thunderbird to add the extension .txt to a file when open the attachment. I have the problem with .patch files which I want look with notepad++. The problem is that notepad++ does not detect the right formating for the file because the extension is .txt. If I drag the file on the desktop an double click all is working. Why change Thunderbird the file name on opening? I am working on Windows 7.

  Recently I encountered a big problem: Blend 4 always crashes immediately after a splash screen ends. No error numbers mentioned, just a crash window saying "Blend has been crashed, debug or close". Is anybody else familiar with that problem? I tried to get some help from Google but there were no relevant references. I Clicked "Debug" and JIT Debugger was opened, it threw "FataExecutionEngineError" exception... What does it mean?

• Error installing Google Chrome on Windows XP (on VirtualBox)

  I am having some problems with my freshly installed Windows XP on VirtualBox. I tried installing Google Chrome on it, and the error I get is: Google Update installation failed with error 0x80040890 It is genuine Windows with SP3. I also tried using VMware player, but it has the same problem. When the same Windows is installed on a real machine, there is no problem. Any ideas what might be the cause?

• Hitting the ctrl button lowers my volume

  I have tried googling this and no one else seems to either have this problem, or find it to be a problem, but it is very annoying to me. Everytime I accidentally hit my ctrl key by itself on my keyboard (I am using windows 7) my volume automatically lowers to a very low volume and then I can't hear anything. It's very annoying whenever I am on a game and/or on skype and I accidentally hit ctrl and then I can't hear anything or anyone!! How can I turn this feature off?

  HI all, I recently purchases a bunch of r710 from dell, i installed esx on it. the installation process finished without a problem. however once the esx boot the following error displays at the botton with red letters 00:00:02:21.493 cpu11:4119) mod:2971: Initialization for vmfs2 failed with -1 i installed on two different servers and the same error pops up. the curius thing is that if i install esxi 3.5 or 4 there is not problem help Thanks Oscar

• Apache returning text/html on some png files

  I have an Apache web server that has a sub folder for images. For some reason, a few of the .png files are returned as text/html and not as image/png. There is nothing indicating a permission problem and the files return with code 200 and with full size. I made sure that image/png is set and even tried forcing it with .htaccess Any idea where to look next? Edit: looks like an .htaccess configuration problem on a parent directory.

• Force applications to open in the foreground when launched from iexplore

  I have a slight problem with my project I've working on... I have replaced explorer with iexplore in kiosk mode. iexplore loads a speeddial type of webpage for a set of windows programs. I launch those programs with PHP's system(). The problem is, when the programs launch, they launch BEHIND iexplore instead of in front of it. How can I force the programs being launched to ALWAYS load in the foreground?

  Hey, I'm having trouble with an onboard nvidia gigabit network, under times of heavy load on the network, I'm seeing this error logged: "too many iterations (6) in nv_nic_irq" I'm running Hadoop DFS over these NICs and I see checksum errors build up until the whole thing just fails. I'm running the 2.6.26-2-amd64 kernel, and my initial research seems to imply its a problem with the forcedeth driver. Has anyone run into this problem before? Thanks in advance if anyone can help!   When I am trying to access my server through my IP adress/localhost/127.0.0.1 all of thoes are working fine but when I am trying my external IP I get: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. I was looking for guide referring to the external but I only found to the localhost, If any one know some guide about fixing this problem referring to the external IP I will be very thankful.   I have ftp access to a server I do not control. I'd like to start sending archives of my server's FS to that ftp. The problem is I don't have enough free space on my system to create a backup archive first (and store it on my fs) and then send it to ftp. So I'm wondering if it is possible to do something like this: tar -jcpvf - / | ftp-put ftp://user:pass@host/file.tbz Normally there is no problem doing it over ssh, but in this case I only have ftp available.

  Problem: Occasionally, my Macbook becomes very slow after waking up from sleep I open Activity Monitor and notice some processes like makewhatis are taking 100% CPU I kill the process[es] and then everything works fine again Questions: My guess is that these processes are cron jobs. • Google Chrome pops up "Your preferences can not be read" upon startup

  Had a power outage. After restarting the computer, now whenever I start Google Chrome, a window pops up "Your preferences can not be read. Some features may be unavailable and changes to preferences won't be saved." Nothing whatsoever in Chrome Help nor in the Chrome Forums as to how to fix the problem. How can this be resolved?   I just set up my new remote office network the problem is i cannot access shared folders to the home office (without turning on the vpn) I control the servers remotely but would really like to access ports 139 and 445. The problem is that they are open on the server side but it appears as though the packets are being dropped before they get get to the server... any way i can tell where the packet is being dropped?

  I'm trying to setup a hp officejet 5510 using HPLIP 3.10.2 under Ubuntu 9.10. The installation of the driver according to this guide was no problem but after installing and selecting the printer I was only able to print blank pages. The printer is working well under windows and scanning (its a multi-functional printer) is also possible under Ubuntu. Does anyone know this problem and a possible solution?

  I have a problem with a LTO 3 Tape Drive. I'm using Brightstor ArcServe Backup software with Windows Server 2003. Sometimes, the scheduled backups will stop working and going into "devices" inside this software reveals that the Tape Drive is offline. The only way to make it work again is uninstalling the Tape Drive's driver and rebooting the server: Windows then auto recognizes and installs the required drivers and the Tape Drive works again. Has anyone ever encountered a similar problem?

• Many TCP connexions localajaxchat <=> 1e100

  Hi all! I don't get that: as soon as I open a Webpage, whether it's with Firefox or Chrome (I hate so much IE that I didn't test with it), there are tons of TCP connexions between "localajaxchat" and a supposed google ("1e100") domain. I've already read this topic, but my problem seems strange because there are so many TCP connexions for only one page... I don't get it. If someone could explain this problem to me... Thanks a lot!
