  • Is there a problem when I call SqlAdapter.Update and at the same time call SqlDataReader.Read

    I have two applications, one updates a single table which has constant number of rows (128 rows) using SqlDataAdapter.Update method , and another application that select from this table periodically using SqlDataReader. sometimes the DataReader returns only 127 rows not 128, and the update application does not remove or even insert any new rows, it just update. I am asking what is the cause of this behaviour?

    We use AutoSproc as our DAL, not my choice, but it was there when I started working at my job. I was wondering if any one had any experience using AutoSproc with large web applications?   • UUID collision risk using different algorithms

    Hi Guys, I have a database where 2 (or maybe 3 or 4) different applications are inserting information. The new information has IDs of the type GUID/UUID, but each application is using a different algorithm to generate the IDs. For example, one is using the NHibernate's "guid.comb", other is using the SQLServer's NEWID(), other might want to use .NET's Guid.NewGuid() implementation. Is there an above normal risk of ID collision or duplicates? Thanks!

Sometimes I need to run them in Linux machines, and it works perfectly under wine (wine is not an emulator).     I've seen a few instances now where web applications are letting try them out without you having to sign-up (though to save you need to of course). example: try at http://minutedock.com/ I'm wondering about doing this for my own web app and the fundamental question is whether to store their info into sessions or into a temp user table? The temp user table would allow logging and potentially be less of a hit on the server, correct? Is there a best practice here?
